Irene H. Medver

JEANERETTE - Services for Mrs. Thomas Medver Sr., 87, the former Irene Hebert will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at David Mortuary with the Rev. Charles Thevis officiating. interment will be in the St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen Friday at 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Jeanerette and resident of Maison Teche Nursing Home, Mrs. Medver died at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at the nursing home.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Medver is survived by two sons, Carl J. Medver and Thomas J. Medver Jr., both of New Iberia; one daughter, Mrs. Donald J. (Shirley) Bonin of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Donald Hebert and Roy Hebert, both of Lydia; one sister, Mrs. Theophile (Lorence) Lasseigne of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Medver Sr.; her parents, Aristival and Clara Hebert Hebert; four brothers, Del Hebert, Emar Hebert, Luke Hebert and Uval Hebert; four sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Aline) Fouquier, Mrs. Donald (Georgette) Hebert, Mrs. Charles (Ledie) Carpentier and Mrs. Octave (May) Peltier.

The David Mortuary of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Dalton J. Boudreaux

Services for Dalton Joseph Boudreaux, 73, will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel Picard officiating. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday until the time of services.

A native of St. Martinville and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Boudreaux died at 9:24 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, in a local nursing home.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during W.W.II. He was also employed with the city of New Iberia.

Mr. Boudreaux is survived by his wife, Azalie Simon of New Iberia; four sons, Emile Boudreaux of Kentucky, Earl Boudreaux of Cecilia, John Landry of Catahoula and Johnny Valentine of New Orleans; three daughters, Mrs. Junius (Shirley) Hoffpauir and Mrs. Patrick (Joann) Sweeney, both of New Iberia, and Mrs. Steven (Linda) Breland of Lacombe; two brothers, Dudley Boudreaux and Oniel Boudreaux, both of St. Martinville; four sister, Mrs. Irving (Agnes) Louviere of Loreauville, Mrs. Allen (Shirley) Berard and Mrs. Pete (Patsy) Kidder, both of Coteau Holmes, and Mrs. Rudy (Mary Jane) Melancon of Coteau; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oniel and Annette Johnson Boudreaux; one son, Joe Landry; three brothers, Irby Boudreaux, Otto Boudreaux and Harold Boudreaux; and one sister, Mrs. John (Lucy) Segura.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Vernice R. Farmer

COTEAU - Services for Mrs. Ocie Lee Farmer, 75, the former Vernice Romero will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Thibodeaux officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday until the time of services.

A native of Iberia Parish and resident of Coteau, Mrs. Farmer died at 1:02 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, at a Lafayette hospital.

She is survived by three sons, Donald Farmer, Dwight Farmer and his wife, Jeannie Larroque Farmer, and Joey Farmer and his wife Tessie Romero Farmer, all of New Iberia; two daughters, Bonnie Fremin of New Iberia and Mrs. Nelson (Frankie) Menard of New Orleans; one brother, Fred Romero of New Iberia; one stepbrother, Paul Romero of New Iberia; 10 grandchildren, Nelson and Crishella Menard of New Orleans, Kyla, Kelly and Kassy Fremin, Kayliey, Nicholas, Dominic, Jake and Chance Farmer, all of New Iberia.

Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her husband, Ocie Lee Farmer; her parents, Alexis and Lucille Romero; two brothers, Walter Romero and Rodney Romero; and one sister, Ernest Romero.

Pallbearers will be Wally Romero, Jake Farmer, Nelson Menard, Nelson Menard Jr., Scott Romero and Zack Reaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Farmer, Donald Farmer, Joey Farmer and Blaine Hebert.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Anna R. Comeaux

Services for Mrs. Wilton P. Comeaux Sr., the former Anna Mae Romero, 70, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church with Rev. Daniel Picard officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held today from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. at David Mortuary, which will reopen Saturday at 8 a.m. until the time of services. A Rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. today.

A native of Coteau and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Comeaux died at 2:53 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at Columbia Dauterive Hospital.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Comeaux is survived by her husband, Wilton P. Comeaux Sr. of New Iberia; two sons, Gerald Joseph Comeaux and Wilton P. Comeaux Jr., both of New Iberia; two daughters, Gloria Hughes of New Iberia and Joann Landry of Kirkland, Wash.; three sisters, Edmae Crochet of New Iberia and Victoria Gary and Edmia Romero, both of Coteau; two brothers, Elmo Romero of New Iberia and Joseph Romero of Coteau; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gustave Romero; her mother, Eudia Gary; five brothers, Roy Romero, Whitney Romero, Wilde Romero, Wilfred Romero and Willie Romero; and one sister, Lily Mae Thibodeaux.

Pallbearers will be Wilton Comeaux Jr., Dale Comeaux, Gerald J. Comeaux, Jay Matthew Comeaux, Chad Hughes and Ricky Landry.

David Mortuary of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Olivia Pickney

JEANERETTE - Graveside services for Olivia Michelle Pickney, five weeks, will be held at 4:30 p.m. today at Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Arthur L. Jones officiating.

The infant died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

She is survived by her parents, Sharon A. and William C. Pickney of Jeanerette; one brother, William Joe; two sisters, Sherell and Raynell Joe; her paternal grandmother, Audrey Pickney; her maternal grandmother, Laverne Hills; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Alex Lovett Funeral Services, Inc. of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Ola R. Sherman

ABBEVILLE - Services for Mrs. John E. Sherman, the former Ola Roy, 78, will begin at 1 p.m. today at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 8 a.m. until the time of services at Hebert-David Funreal Home.

A native of Leroy and resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Sherman died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

Hebert-David Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

Robert C. Fox

Memorial services for Robert Clement Fox, 56, will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at The First United Methodist Church.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Guadalajara, Mexico, Mr. Fox died Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer.

Mr. Fox was vice president of Red Fox Companies before retiring in 1991. Soon after, he used his creative talents and business acumen to help his wife, Emma Bassin Fox, turn their home into the acclaimed Pourtos House Bed and Breakfast. In 1995, Mr. Fox fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams when he and his wife retired to Gualalajara. He was an active member in the Iberia Parish community for 20 years, serving in various industry associations, including the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce as secretary, vice president, president and member of the board of directors; board director of the Bank of Iberia, and board member of the International Trade Exposition, A Council for a Better Louisiana and the Better Business Bureau of Acadiana Inc. He was a past member of the Iberia Industrial Group, the Louisiana Civil Service League and the Port of Iberia Steering Committee.

Mr. Fox held many positions in the community and social associations, including the New Iberia Optimist Club, as director, vice president, president, lieutenant governor and secretary. He was chairman of the Council of the Shadows-on-the-Teche, president of the Iberia Parish United Givers Fund and board member of the Iberia Golf and Country Club. Finding great joy and appreciation for the city's Mardi Gras traditions, Mr. Fox served on the Krewe of Andalusia Board of Directors for many years, and in 1981 he was the 25th anniversary King of the Krewe of Andalusia.

He rececived many community awards for his generosity and achievement. Mr. Fox was the recipient of two Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce "Outstanding Contribution to our Community" awards, The New Iberia Optimist Club International President Golden Circle Award and a Distinguished President Award. He also was acknowledged by the New Iberia Park and Recreation Department with a Certificate of Appreciation for "Developing Neighborhood Playgrounds."

Mr. Fox was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Iberia and served on the administrative board, finance committee and council on ministries. He attended LSU and earned a bachelor's degree in business and liberal arts from USL in 1963 and 1964, was a charter member of Eta Nu chapter of the Sigma Nu Fraternity at USL and was an active member of Phi chapter at LSU.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Bassin Fox; one son, David Eldridge Fox and his wife Gina Fox of Atlanta; two daughters, Kirsten Grills Fox of Atlanta and Adrienne Fox Luscombe and her husband David Luscombe of Washington , D.C.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Beldon E. Fox Sr. of New Iberia; one brother, Beldon E. Fox Jr. of Lafayette; and two grandsons, Cory and Kaelon Fox of Atlanta.

Barron Coleman

Services for Barron Coleman, 96, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Star Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronell Cheatham officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel, which will reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday until 12:30 p.m.

Mr. Coleman died at 8:36 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 1997, at Columbia Dauterive Hospital following a brief illness.

He was the oldest member of Star Temple Baptist Church where he also served on the deacon board.

Mr. Coleman is survived by two sons, Caldwell Coleman of Huntington, Md., and Alton J. Coleman of Henrietta, New York; two daughters, Doretha C. Dilworth and Dorothy C. Burruss, both of Rochester, New York; two daughters-in-law, Brenda Coleman of Huntington and Mary Theresa Coleman of Henrietta; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Avia S. Coleman; his parents, Jules and Cecelia Beals Coleman; and one brother, James Broussard.

Pallbearers will be Wilbert Mitchell, Rodney Simon and Billy Livingston.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Albert Jones

Services for Albert "Monkey" Jones, 59, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Francis Davis and David Jones along with Henry Lee and Lionel Green officiating. interment will be in the St. Matthew Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until the time of services.

A resident of Cade, Mr. Jones died at 11:32 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 1997, at University Medical Center following a brief illness.

He is survived by three sons, Albert Morris and Kevin Morris, both of Parks, and Darrell Lambert of Lafayette; four daughters, Shelley Holloway of New Iberia, Brittney Mallery, Felecia Filer and Sheila Morris, all of St. Martinville; four brothers, Willis Jones of Cade, Roy Jones and Herbert Jones, both of Lafayette, and Louis Jones of New Iberia; five sisters, Mary Phillips, Laura Green and Geneva Decuir, all of New Iberia, and Hazel Allen and Florence Lee, both of Cade; four grandchildren; one aunt, Beatrice Flugence of St. Martinville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Jones was prececded in death by his parents, Herman and Zoway Flugence Jones Sr.; six brothers, Clarence Jones Sr., Herman Jones Jr., Edward Jones, Lawrence Jones, Raymond Jones and Douglas Jones.

Pallbearers will be Carroll Charles, Jimmy Champ, Warren Mallery, Henry Taylor , Lemell Lee and Milton Green Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willis Jones, Roy Jones, Louis Jones, Herbert Jones, Albert Cormier and Wayne Allen.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
