Clifton Maitre

ABBEVILLE - Services for Clifton Maitre, 85, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Vincent Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester Arceneaux officiating. interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday.

He is survived by his wife, Isaure LeLeux Maitre of Nunez; one son, Leon O. Maitre of Hurst, Texas ; one stepson, Alfred Gautreaux of New Iberia; one daughter, Gloria Jean Guillot of Kaplan; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Maitre was preceded in death by his parents, Ophe and Elodie Picard Maitre; two brothers, Leo Maitre and Russie Maitre; one sister, Ethel Racca; and two stepsisters, Lucille Estillate and Mrs. Lloyd Albarado.

The Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

U.J. Prince

Services for U.J. Prince, 73, will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Cormier officiating. interment will be in the Memorial Park Mousoleum with military graveside services conducted by VFW Post 1982 Honor Guard of New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.

A native of Louisa and resident of Lydia, Mr. Prince died at 1:53 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, in a New Iberia hospital.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Prince was employed with Morton Salt for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Borel Prince of Lydia; one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell J. and Beckey Prince of Lydia; one daughter and son-in-law, Gwen P. and Pat Jolet of Lydia; five brothers, David Prince, Forrest Prince, Russell Prince and Larry Prince, all of Lydia, and Raymond Prince of Franklin; three sisters, Dorothy Trautman and Elaine Falterman, both of Lydia, and Joyce Adams of New Iberia; six grandchildren, Arnold Prince and Mark Prince, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., Gina Prince and Jenny Hicks, both of Lydia, and Stacie Ransonet and Shawn Jolet, both of Baton Rouge; and three great-grandchildren, Brittany Prince and Dylan Prince, both of Oklahoma City, and Devin Hicks of Lydia.

Mr. Prince was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Prince and Terry Prince; his parents, David and Reva Dolittle Prince; and two brothers, Charles Prince and Arnold Prince.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Flossie Toups

ABBEVILLE - Graveside services for Mrs. Leo Toups, 89, the former Flossie Pundt, will begin at 11 a.m. today at Graceland Cemetery.

A native of Henry and resident of Eden, Texas , Mrs. Toups died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at Concho Nursing Center in Eden.

The Hebert-David Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

Irma Ball

ABBEVILLE - Services for Irma Ball, 52, the former Irma Bessard, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Congregational Church with the Rev. Kevin Williams officaiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with wake services to begin at 8 p.m. at the church, which will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.

A resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Ball died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday at Abbeville General Hospital following a brief illness.

She is survived by her husband, Lorenzo Ball of Abbeville; three sons, Eugene Nunez of Austin, Texas , Cuvie Nunez of Abbeville, and Loison Nunez Jr. of Houston; one stepson, Nathaniel Ball of Reedville, Va.; four daughters, Gwendolyn E. Campbell, Cassandra Y. Nunez and Demetria G. Nunez, all of Abbeville, and Valorie A. Bernard of Austin, Texas ; two stepdaughters, Marla Ball of Norton, Va. and Melissa Ball of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Melba Levine of Dallas and Mary D. Bessard of Abbeville; 24 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Rose Williams Bessard.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle Brown

ABBEVILLE - Services for Myrtle Brown, 67, the former Myrtle Campbell will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Truimph Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Maze officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a wake service to begin at 8 p.m. at Fletcher's Funeral Home Chapel which will reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday.

A native of Abbeville for many years, Mrs. Brown died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a member of Mount Triumph Baptist Church Choir, an educator for 40 years and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

Mrs. Brown is survived by nine brothers, Haley Campbell Jr. and Lloyd Campbell Sr., both of Gidding, Texas , J.C. Campbell, Roland Campbell, Elmore Campbell, Ivory Campbell, Joseph Campbell, Michael "Kimble" Campbell and Gibson "Rick" Campbell, all of Abbeville; three sisters, Evelyn C. Pradia of Lafayette, Sophia Minor and Chrissilla Mire; a very loyal and faithful friend, Joyce A. Landry; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Brown; her parents, Haley Campbell and Veda H. Campbell Sr.; two brothers, Wilton Campbell and Eddie Campbell; and one sister, Janie C. Robinson.

Pallbearers will be Desi S. Campbell, Pierre R. Campbell, Juan K. Campbell, Michael Campbell, Kenneth Campbell, Vincent B. Pradia, Cedric S. Robinson, John Campbell and Cordell Guidry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Haley Campbell Sr., J.C. Campbell, Lloyd Campbell Sr., Roland Campbell, Joseph Campbell, Floyd Campbell, Godard Shelvin, Roland Hill, Gibson Rick Campbell, Michael Campbell, Kevin Campbell and Sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

Mark B. Guillot

Services for Mark Bryan Guillot, 29, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Steve LeBlanc officiating. Entombment will be in the Beau Pre Mausoleum in Jeanerette.

Visitation will be from 4:30-10 p.m. today with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at David Mortuary, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.

A native of New Orleans and resident of Rose Pine, Mr. Guillot died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, in Oberlin.

He was an electrician for E.P. Breaux Electrical and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Desert Storm.

Mr. Guillot is survived by his parents, Wayne F. and Brenda Benoit Guillot of New Iberia; one daughter, Monique Guillot of Liuttenau, Germany; his fiancee, Pat Dockery of Rose Pine; one sister, Michelle Guillot Minvielle of New Iberia; his paternal grandmother, Leona Fremin Guillot of New Iberia; and his maternal grandparents, Reno and Ethel Benoit of Abbeville.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Frank Guillot.

The David Mortuary of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Ellen P. Rogers

JEANERETTE - Services for Ellen Patrick Rogers, 56, will begin at 4 p.m. today at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Rogers officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be at Landry-David Funeral Home until the time of services.

A native of Jeanerette, Ms. Rogers died at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, in Loreauville.

She worked as a registered nurse at Columbia Dauterive Hospital where she was head of the Intensive Care Unit for many years.

Ms. Rogers is survived by six brothers, Frank Rogers, Michael Rogers and Roland Rogers, all of Jeanerette, John Rogers of Lafayette, Kirby Rogers of Austin, Texas , and Peter Rogers of New Orleans; and four sisters, Jane Boudreaux and Mary Thibodeaux, both of Lafayette, and Suzanne Luke and Rita Rogers, both of Jeanerette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kirby S. and Marguerite Minvielle Rogers; and one brother, Robert Rogers.

Pallbearers will be Kirby D. Rogers, Dr. N.C. Boudreaux, Frank Rogers, John Rogers, Michael Rogers, Peter Rogers and Roland Rogers.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Diner in New Iberia.

The Landry-David Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Ivory Gibson Jr.

JEANERETTE - Services for Ivory Gibson Jr., 36, will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday at First Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur L. Alexander officiating. interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Rosary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-10 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

A resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Gibson died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997, at his residence.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Evergreen Lodge No. 31.

Mr. Gibson is survived by his parents, Ivory and Cora Nell B. Gibson Sr. of Jeanerette; and two brothers, Anthony Gibson Sr. of Ft. Hood, Texas , and David Wayne Gibson of Jeanerette.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Maggie Barbineaux; his paternal grandparents, Joe and Cora Gibson; four uncles; and two aunts.

Pallbearers will be members of the Evergreen Lodge No. 31 and members of the American Legion and VFW.

Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Gibson Sr., David Wayne Gibson, Wilton Gibson Sr., Robert Jeanlouis, Federick Hills, Danny Lewis and Gil White .

The Alex Lovette Funeral Services of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.
