Sister Anne C. Bizalion

JEANERETTE - Services for Sister Anne Catherine Bizalion, 73, will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church with the Revs. Theophilus Herlong, Thomas Mullaly and Jean Marie James officiating. Words of remembrance will be given by Marion Overton White . interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary, at the Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday until the time of services.

A native of Grenobel, France, and resident of New Iberia, Sister Anne died at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.

She came to the U.S. in 1956 as a Dominican Rural missionary to work among Louisiana 's rural poor. She was the first Catholic sister to graduate with a master's degree in social work from Tulane University in New Orleans. In 1969, she co-founded the Southern Mutual Help Association Inc., a rural development organization, and served as executive director for 25 years, subsequently becoming SMHA's president until her death. In 1973 she was selected by Ms. Magazine as one of the outstanding women in America. Under her direction SMHA twice won the Fannie Mae Award for having one of the six best housing programs in the U.S. In 1974 Sister Anne received the Lafayette Council on Human Relations Martin Luther King Jr. Award, in 1993 she received the grassroots activist Older Women's League Award in Washington , D.C., in 1996 the Office of Black Catholic Ministries of the Lafayette Diocese gave her the Martin Luther King Jr. Award for outstanding service to church and community.

Sister Anne is survived by her American family and dear friends, Ms. Lorna Bourg and Sister Helen Vinton, SP, of New Iberia; one brother, Fracois Bizalion; three sisters, Elizabeth Robert, Genevieve Broquisse and Marie Arlette deGenestel, all of France.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Paule Balay Bizalion; and one brother, Michel Bizalion.

Pallbearers will be Judy Voehringer Herring, Marion Overton White , Lurcy Marceaux, Irma Lewis, Clementine Matthews and Sarah Brabant.

Donations may be made in her name to continue her work, to the Southern Mutual Help Association Inc., 3602 Old Jeanerette Road, New Iberia, La. 70560.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Louis Richard

Services for Louis Richard, 75, will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at David Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Charles Thevis officiating. interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. today, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.

A native of Morse and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Richard died at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 1997, at his residence.

He was an insurance agent.

Mr. Richard is survived by his wife, Georgie Vice Richard of New Iberia; one son, Johnny Louis Richard of San Antonio; two daughters, Mrs. Patric (Melinda) Richard Brown and Mrs. Oscar (Annette) Richard Warfel, both of New Iberia; four sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Mary Rose) Evans of Houston, Mrs. Eune (Louise) Landry of China, Texas , Mrs. Dudley (Mae Cola) Romero and Mrs. John Numa (Viola) Savoie, both of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Jon David Richard of Denver, Colo., Chad Warfel and Jude Warfel, both of New Iberia, John Slaughter and Justin Jones, both of San Antonio, Leah Doiron and Shawn Doiron Primeux, both of New Iberia, Michelle Richard Sprague of Fort Collins, Colo.; and two great-grandchildren, Tristan Primeaux and Jacob Broussard, both of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Mancel Richard and Alphonsine Istre Richard; three brothers, Lawrence Richard, McNolan Richard and Yule Richard; and four sisters, Mrs. Walter (Josephine) Potier, Grace Richard, Winnie Richard and Mrs. Aurelie (Lillian) Stelly.

Pallbearers will be McNolan Stelly, Arthur Hoag, Byron Peltier, Torey Primeaux, Steve Landry and Dale Vice.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Martin and Grayling Vice.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 1600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70502.

The David Mortuary of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Norman A. Buteaux Sr.

Services for Norman Arthur Buteaux Sr., 58, will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Jacquemoud-David Funeral Home Chapel. interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Jeanerette.

Visitation will be from 4:30-10 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday until the time of services.

A native of Lafayette and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Buteaux died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at Columbia Dauterive Hospital.

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in New Iberia.

Mr. Buteaux is survived by his wife, Merline Bourque Buteaux of New Iberia; three sons, Norman "Beau" Buteaux of Elizabethtown, Penn., David Buteaux of Houston and Shane Buteaux of New Iberia; two brothers, Leonard Buteaux of New Iberia and Oswald Buteaux of Jeanerette; one sister, Patsy Rivette of New Iberia; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Irma Owens Buteaux; and two brothers, Bud Buteaux and Norris Buteaux.

The Jacquemoud-David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Joyce Willis

ABBEVILLE - Services for Joyce Willis, 48, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry L. Maze officiating. interment will be in Mount Triumph Baptist Chruch Cemetery in Gros Isle.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.

A resident of Abbeville, Miss Willis died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at her residence following a brief illness.

She is survived by her companion, Bobby St. Julien of Abbeville; her mother, Mrs. Mary Mae Willis of Abbeville; five brothers, Terry Willis, McKinley Willis, Minos Willis, Patrick Willis and Alvin Willis Sr., all of Abbeville; eight sisters, Rose Willis, Carol Willis, Pernella Carter, Weslaine Willis, Sheryl Willis, Kathy Lee, Tracy Willis and Florence Willis, all of Abbeville; and a host of neices, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Miss Willis was preceded in death by her father, Percy Willis; two sisters, Priscilla Willis and Debra Willis; her maternal grandmother, Fradia Sawyer; and her paternal grandfather, Paul Willis.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Willis Sr., Terry Willis, Lionel Willis, Jerome Willis, Michael Willis and Nathaniel Frohm.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Batiste, Minos Willis and McKinley Willis.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

Lillie B. Foco

JEANERETTE - Services for Mrs. Camille Foco, the former Lillie Mae "Miss Lil" Bonin, 62, will be held at 1 p.m. today at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Entombment will be in St. John Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to the time of services at Landry-David Funeral Home.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Foco died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, in Jeanerette.

She was a sales clerk at Stage Department Store, formerly Anthony's.

Mrs. Foco is survived by her husband, Camille Foco of Jeanerette; her mother, Bernadette Guillotte Bonin of Jeanerette; one son, Rodney Foco of Jeanerette; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Wendy) Puckett of New Iberia and Mrs. Larry (Virginia) Verret of Loreauville; three brothers, Harold "Boo" Bonin and Harry J. Bonin, both of Jeanerette and Ulysse Bonin Jr. of New Iberia; one sister, Rita Broussard of Jeanerette; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ulysse Bonin Sr.

Pallbearers will be Rodney J. Foco, Jerry Puckett, Kevin Broussard, Chad R. Verret, Kevin A. Verret and Larry P. Verret.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lucien Broussard, Ronald Foco, Harold "Boo" Bonin, Harry Bonin, Ulysse Bonin Jr., Randy Foco, Tommy Legnon and Matthew Migues.

The Landry-David Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

John D. Hulin

HENRY - Services for John Duell Hulin, 87, will begin at 10:30 a.m. today at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. Lloyd Bordelon officiating. interment will be in Bancker Cemetery in Bancker.

Visitation will begin today at 7 a.m. until the time of services at Broussard Funeral Home in Erath.

Mr. Hulin died Friday afternoon near his home in Henry.

Broussard Funeral Home of Erath is in charge of arrangements.

Effie B. Decou

YOUNGSVILLE - Services for Mrs. Theodule Decou, the former Effie Breaux, 87, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church. Entombment will be in St. Anne Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Mortuary in Broussard, which will reopen Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native and resident of Youngsville, Mrs. Decou died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.

David Mortuary of Broussard is in charge of arrangements.

Patric G. Brown

Services for Patric Gerald Brown, 50, will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Thevis officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. at the Carter Memorial Cemetery in Kinder.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Mortuary, which will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.

A native of Seattle and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Brown died at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at Iberia Medical Center.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era in the Armed Forces Network in Germany. Mr. Brown was the news director and news anchor at KATC Channel 3 in Lafayette from 1989-1991. From 1987-1989 he was the news director for WAFF in Huntsville, Ala. He worked as the news director for ABC affiliate KTXS in Abeline, Texas , from 1984-1986. He also worked for the ABC affiliate KTBC in Austin, Texas . He was news anchor and news director for CBS affiliate KGMB in Honolulu from 1976-1982, an ABC correspondent in Chicago for WLS from 1972-1976, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Louisiana Quarter Horse Association.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Melinda Richard Brown of New Iberia; his mother, Eula Mae Tessier Brown of Kinder; one son, Shawn Brown of Fort Worth; four daughters, Jennifer Brown of Phoenix, Nina Brown of Fort Worth, Leah Doiron and Mrs. Torey (Shawn) Dorion Primeaux, both of New Iberia; and one sister, Brooke Brown of New England, Conn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis William Brown.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The David Mortuary of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
