Clara B. Landry

Services for Mrs. Wilson "Rabbit" Landry Sr., 69, the former Clara Barrilleaux, will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at David Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Bart Boyer officiating. interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-10 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services.

A native of Iberia Parish and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Landry died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at Iberia Medical Center.

She was retired from The Daily Iberian as a paper carrier and a member of the South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mrs. Landry is survived by her husband, Wilson "Rabbit" Landry Sr. of New Iberia; two sons, Terry James Landry and Wilson (T-Boy/Slim) Landry Jr., both of New Iberia; one daughter, Mrs. Louis (Susie) Boutte of Gretna; one brother, Wilfred Barrilleaux of New Iberia; two sisters, Mrs. Junius (Lucille) Brousssard and Mrs. Bill (Irene) Gachassin, both of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred "Pete" and Clara Dionne Barrilleaux Sr.; one son, Claude Joseph Landry; and one sister, Mrs. Hector (Maxine) Langlinais.

Pallbearers will be Louis Boutte, Kevin Alleman, Brock Boutte, Brandon Landry, Kevin Landry and Robert Landry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wilson Landry Jr., Wilfred Barrilleaux, Blake Landry and Terry Landry.

The David Mortuary of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

James Danton Kennison

LAFAYETTE - Services for James Danton Kennison, 14, will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Edmond Catholic Church with the Revs. Keith J. DeRouen, Gary Schexnayder and Steve Crump officiating. interment will be in the Fountain Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today with a 6:30 rosary at Martin and Castille Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

A native of St. Martinville, former resident of Baton Rouge and resident of Lafayette, Danton died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997.

He was a freshman at Lafayette High School and was a member of the Gifted and Hearing Impaired Program as well as the Sign Language Club. He enjoyed camping, hunting and was a voracious reader.

Danton is survived by his mother, Anne deMahy of Lafayette; his father, Dan Kennison of Baton Rouge; one brother, Jonathan Kennison of Lafayette; one sister, Emily Kennison of Lafayette; his maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Bernard deMahy of St. Martinville (Mrs. deMahy is the former Anne Iiamley); his paternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. James Kennison of Port Barre (Mrs. Kennison is the former Gloria Duplechain); his paternal great-grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Danton Duplechain of Port Barre (Mrs. Duplechain is the former Ella Mae Robin).

Pallbearers will be Dan Kennison, Dr. Douglas deMahy, Edward deMahy, Kearns Kennison, Robert Burris and Dr. James Kennison.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends of Danton.

The Martin and Castille Funeral Home Inc. of Lafayette is in charge of arrangements.

Mary L. Guidry

ABBEVILLE - Services for Mary Velta Lee Guidry, 68, will begin at 2 p.m. today at St. Theresa Catholic Church. interment will be in the Bancker Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Hebert-David Funeral Home until the time of services.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Guidry died at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 1997, at Abbeville General Hospital.

The Hebert-David Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

Martha T. Marcantel

JENNINGS - Services for Mrs. Bernard N. Marcantel, 73, the former Martha Tabb deGravelles will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with the Monsignor Vincent A. Sedita officiating. interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Miguez Funeral Home Chapel, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.

A native of Patterson, former resident of Morgan City and New Iberia and a resident of Jennings for 47 years, Mrs. Marcantel died at 7:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

In 1945 she graduated from SLI (USL) and then taught at SLI. She was also a SLI National Debater and National Orator. In 1972 she graduated from USL with her library certification. Founder of Our Lady Help of Christians Elementary School Library and the librarian for 28 years, she also taught at Our Lady Immaculate Elementary School.

In her early years, she was a radio announcer in Mississippi and an airplane pilot. At OLI she was a 4-H coach and leader for 10 years and OLI basketball statistician. Mrs. Marcantel was a member of the OLHC Adult Choir, a book reviewer for local clubs, a Jefferson Davis Parish Library Board Member and President of that board. She established the first video classroom in Jefferson Davis Parish.

She was active in the Community Concert series and was instrumental in the selection of visiting artists. She was also a member of the Alumni Association of USL and the Jeff Davis Arts Council. In 1986 she was decorated as a Companion of Honor by the Bishop Jude Speyrer.

Mrs. Marcantel's inspirational zest for life touched the lives of many generations around her.

She is survived by her husband, Judge Bernard N. Marcantel; three sons, David Emile Marcantel and his wife, Simone, Mayor Greg Marcantel and his wife, Jean, all of Jennings and Peter Marcantel and his wife, Tina, of Galveston, Texas ; one daughter, Nancy Tabb Marcantel of Lafayette; two brothers, Norbert deGravelles and his wife, Nyada, of Thibodaux, Charles C. deGravelles Jr. and his wife, Virginia, of Lafayette; one foster brother, Roussel deGravelles of California; eight grandchildren, Pierre, Natalie, Chelsea, Angelique, Noel, Joel, Andrew and Anna Marcantel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Marcantel was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Charles C. deGravelles Sr. and Mary Riddle deGravelles; and one daughter, Kathryn Douglass Marcantel.

THe family is especially grateful to her long-time companion, Mrs. Helen Bergeron, and to her faithful household assistant, Mrs. Alice Mayfield.

Memorial donations may be made to the Our Lady Immaculate Elementary School Library in Jennings.

Eleanor G. Jolley

PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. - Services for Eleanor G. Jolley, 91, were held Monday at 11 a.m. at Reyman Funeral Home.

A native of Loreauville and resident of Pass Christian, Mrs. Jolley died at 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7, 1997, at her residence.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Jordan and her husband, Leonard, of Shreveport, Jackie Davis and her husband, Sam, of Dallas, and Sandra Byrd and her husband, Carmen, of Honduras; one sister, Mrs. Julius (Genevieve) Ransonet of Loreauville; a sister-in-law, Bessie Gonsoulin Cestia; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jolley was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil P. Jolley; her parents, Husville and Carrie Brown Gonsoulin; one brother, Albert Gonsoulin; and three sisters, Mrs. Anthony (Odette) Broussard, Mrs. S.J. (Marguerite) Segura and Mrs. Albert (Carrie) Darby.

The Reyman Funeral Home of Pass Christian, Miss., was in charge of arrangements.

Mary D. Perry

Services for Mrs. Charles A. Perry, 59, the former Mary Alice Dartez, will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roland Fontenot, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. interment will be in the St. Marcellus Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-10 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday until the time of services.

A native of Iberia Parish, former resident of Decatur, Ala., and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Perry died at 6:34 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, in a New Orleans hospital.

She was employed with the McIlhenny Co. for two years and the Iberia Parish School Board for 13 years as a bus driver. She was a past volunteer with the Rynella Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the American Legion Post 335 Auxiliary.

Mrs. Perry is survived by her mother, Enola Savoy Dartez of Avery Island; one son, John Wesley Perry of New Iberia; three daughters, Denise Perry Clement of Melville, N.J., Tracy Perry Daigrepont of Harrington, Del., and Kathryn Ann Perry of New Iberia; two brothers, Herbert "Boo" Dartez and Gilbert "Pat" Dartez, both of New Iberia; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Janice) Delcambre of New Iberia and Mrs. Raleigh (Kate) Rogers of Avery Island; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Perry; her father, Lelius "Chet" Dartez; and one sister, Barbara Dartez.

Pallbearers will be John Wesley Perry, Tim Clement, Jon Daigrepont, Keith Daigrepont, Bobby Dartez, Richard Delcambre Jr. and John Perez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Herbert "Boo" Dartez, Gilbert "Pat" Dartez, Rayward Dugas, Raliegh Rogers and Richard Delcambre Sr.

Memorials may be made to the Rynella Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 87, Avery Island, La. 70513, or to the American Red Cross, 121 W. Pershing St., New Iberia, La. 70560.

ABBEVILLE - Services for Mrs. Chester Menard, 63, the former Lelia Broussard, will begin at 12 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Magdelan Catholic Church. interment will be in the St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:30-10 p.m. today, with a 8 p.m. rosary at Hebert-David Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday until the time of services.

A native of Abbeville and resident of Lake Charles, Mrs. Menard died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at Dubuis Hospital in Lake Charles.

Pamela N. Vincent

ERATH - Services for Mrs. Freddie "Baday" Vincent, 87, the former Pamela Norris, will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Wayne Duet officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Abbeville, Mr. Dubois died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Vermilion Health Care in Kaplan.
