Evelyn D. Champagne

ST. MARTINVILLE - Services will be held for Mrs. Howard Champagne Sr., 74, the former Evelyn Marie Dwyer, at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church with the Rev. Keith Derouen officiating. interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. today, with a 6 p.m. rosary at Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville, which will reopen 8 a.m. until time of service on Monday.

A resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Champange died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1997, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

She was a member of the Legion of Mary, the Catholic Daughters, the Ladies Altar Society, St. Anthony's Guild, Martha's Guild, the American Legion of Parks, and a recipient of the Bishop's Medal of Honor.

Mrs. Champagne is survived by one son, Howard Champagne Jr. of St. Martinville; three daughters, Mrs. Howard (Arlene) Boyer of St. Martinville, Mrs. Murray (Carolyn) Fuselier of St. Martinville and Mrs. Donald (Marlene) Latiolais of St. Martinville; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Dutile of Broussard; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Dwyer; her husband, Howard "Mac" Champagne; one sister, Eve Champagne; and two brothers, Adam and Isaac Dwyer.

The Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.

Gilbert Mitchell Sr.

Services for Gilbert "Champ" Mitchell Sr., 65, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Francis Davis officiating. interment will be in the St. Thomas Baptist Church Cemetery in Neco Town.

Visitation will begin at 7 a.m. Monday until time of service in the Fletcher Chapel.

A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Mitchell died at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at Iberia Medical Center following a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Fontenette Mitchell of New Iberia; four sons, Gilbert Mitchell Jr. of Atlanta, Alvin Mitchell, Steven Mitchell and Birdel Mitchell, all of New Orleans; five daughters, Darlene M. Henderson, Gilda Mitchell, Sandra M. Tippen and Cynthia M. Taylor , all of New Orleans, and Carolyn Dawkins of Meriden, Conn.; one brother, Robert Mitchell Jr. of New Iberia; two sisters, Mary Ann Lafayette of New Iberia and Harriet Sexton of Las Vegas; and a host of grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Mitchell Sr. and Alice Domain Mitchell; three brothers, Harold Mitchell, Joseph Mitchell and Edward Peter Mitchell; and three sisters, Lillian Benoit, Agnes Granger and Eunice Ledet.

Pallbearers are Lloyd Lee, Leonard January, Alvin Moore Jr., Tony Tauriac, Lester White and Roy Ricardo.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the immediate family.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Cecil J. Vincent

ABBEVILLE - Service for Cecil James Vincent, 56, will begin at 3 p.m. Monday at St. Theresa Church in Abbeville, with the Rev. Chester Arceneaux officiating. interment will be in the St. Paul Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, with a 6 p.m. rosary, at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, which will reopen 8 a.m. Monday until time of service.

A native and lifetime resident of Abbeville, Mr. Vincent died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital following a long illness.

He was the owner of Cecil's Cake and Donut Shop for 21 years in Abbeville.

He is survived by his wife, Dianna Mayard Vincent of Abbeville; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Ramona) V. LeJeune of Kaplan, Ms. Salena Maria Vincent of Abbeville and Mrs. Tracy (Kristy) V. Connor of Moss Bluff; one stepbrother, Leo Bergeron of Abbeville; one sister, Mrs. Rena Mae Landry Hebert of Maurice; one stepsister, Mrs. Paul (Velma) Romero of New Iberia; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alladin Vincent and Agnes LeBlanc Bergeron; and a stepfather, Irvin "Van" Bergeron.

Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

Devin D. Broussard

DELCAMBRE - Services for Devin Dominic Broussard, 3, will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church. interment will be in the Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, with a 10 a.m. rosary at the church.

A native of Lafayette and resident of Delcambre, Devin died at 3:08 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997, at Abbeville General Hospital.

The David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth LeBlanc

ERATH - Services for Mrs. Lonnie LeBlanc , 50, the former Elizabeth Newsom, will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Broussard Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Norwood officiating. interment will be in the Delcambre Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. today at the funeral home which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. LeBlanc died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at her home.

The Broussard Funeral Home of Erath is in charge of arrangements.

Donovan C. Davidson

Services for Donovan Charles Davidson, 3 months, will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Conley Bertrand officiating. interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-10 p.m. today with at 6 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Delcambre, Donovan died at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997.

He is survived by his parents, Donald A. and Christine Stevens Davidson Sr. of Delcambre; two brothers, Dillon D. Davidson and Donovan's twin brother, Donald A. Davidson Jr., both of Delcambre; two sisters, Kristie A. Davidson and Tiffany R. Davidson, both of Delcambre; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Christine Sumner Davidson, both of New Iberia; his maternal grandmother, Belinda Sonnier of New Iberia; his maternal grandfather and step grandmother, Irvin and Dorothy Stevens Jr.

Pallbearers will be Charles Davidson, Irvin Stevens Jr., Gilbert Hoffpauir and Danny Davidson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Davidson and Michael Stevens.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Shannon A. Caulking

Services for Mrs. Theodore Ray "Teddy" Caulking Sr., 27, the former Shannon Albert, will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike McLaurin officiating. interment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Caulking died at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997.

She is survived by her husband, Theodore Ray "Teddy" Caulking Sr. of New Iberia; her mother, Patricia Dugan Albert of New Iberia; one son, Teddy Caulking Jr. of New Iberia; two daughters, Christine Albert and Shana Caulking, both of New Iberia; one brother, Duyane Albert of New Iberia; and one sister, Cynthia Barras of New Iberia.

Mrs. Caulking was preceded in death by her father, Harry Albert; her maternal grandparents, Walter and Olive Romero Dugan; and her paternal grandparents, Burton and Edmae Cormier Albert.

Pallbearers will be Gary Garb, Richard Pellerin, Mark Vaughn, Tommy Barras, Alton Albert and Jr. Leger.

Honorary pallbearer will be Duyane Albert.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence R. Barras

Services for Lawrence Roland Barras, 70, will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reggie Ogea officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.

A native of Napoleonville, former resident of Morgan City and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Barras died at 2:43 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at a New Iberia hospital.

He was employed with J. Ray McDermott Fabricators for 25 years, past member of First Baptist Church in Morgan City and a member of Highland Baptist Church.

Mr. Barras is survived by his wife, Selina Violette Barras of New Iberia; two sons, Mark L. Barras and his wife, Jodi Falgout Barras, both of New Iberia, and Charles E. Peavy II and his wife, Clara Mason Peavy, both of Branson, Mo.; three brothers, Manuel L. Barras of Houston, Allen J. Barras and Earl Barras, both of Morgan City; one sister, Hazel T. Ponds of Dickinson, Texas ; and six grandchildren, Yogi Barras, Brooks Barras and Emily Barras, all of New Iberia; Debbie Peavy, Bridget Peavy and Charles Peavy III, all of Branson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Enodis and Esma Aucoin Barras; two brothers; and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Charles Peavy II, Earl Barras, Yogi Barras, Brooks Barras, Mark Barras and Allen Barras.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Dudley R. Trahan Jr.

LAKE ARTHUR - Services for Dudley R. Trahan Jr., 54, were at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur, with the Rev. Maurice Martineau officiating. interment was in the Andrus Cove Cemetery.

A native of New Iberia and a resident of Lake Arthur, Mr. Trahan died at 8:33 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at his residence.

He was a maintenance supervisor at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and member of the Perpetual Adorers of the Church.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Primeaux Trahan of Lake Arthur; two sons, Carl Trahan of Orange, Texas , and Willard Trahan of Gueydan; two daughters, Mrs. Cilton (Carla) Villemarette and Mrs. Bennett (Connie) Schexnider, both of Lake Arthur; two brothers, Wayne Trahan and John Trahan, both of New Iberia; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded is death by his parents, Dudley Trahan Sr. and Lorida Migues Trahan; one brother, Willard Ray Trahan; and one sister, Linda Sue Trahan.

Pallbearers were Cilton Villermarette, Bennett Schexnider, Willard Trahan, Carl Trahan, Curtis Cain and Allen Miller.

Honorary pallbearers were Tenis Guillory Jr., Harold Duhon, Ravis Smith, Bootsie Aucoin and Arthur Leger.

The Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur was in charge of arrangements.
