Catherine W. Fisher

Services for Mrs. Benny Fisher, 39, the former Catherine Wilson, will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at First United Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. C.W. Hagan officiating. interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at David Funeral Home in New Iberia, which will reopen from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

A native of Buras and a resident of Coteau, Mrs. Fisher died at 8:14 a.m., Friday, Dec. 5, 1997, in an auto accident on U.S. 90 at Hwy. 88 in New Iberia.

She was a deaf interpreter at L.J. Alleman School in Lafayette and a member of the Deaf Action Center.

She is survived by her husband, Benny Fisher of Coteau; her parents, Caulton "Gene" Wilson and Geraldine Barrilleaux Wilson of New Iberia; a daughter, Jessica Fisher of Coteau; and a sister, Mrs. Dennis (Anne) Harrish of Spring Boro, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rachel Nicole Fisher; and a brother, Kevin Wayne Wilson.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Rachel Nicole Fisher

Services for Rachel Nicole Fisher, 7, will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at the First United Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. C.W. Hagan officiating. interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at David Funeral Home of New Iberia, which will reopen from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

A native of New Iberia and a resident of Coteau, Miss Fisher died at 8:14 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 1997, in an auto accident on U.S. 90 at Hwy. 88 in New Iberia.

She was a second grade student at Coteau Elementary School.

She is survived by her father, Benny Fisher of Coteau; her mother, Debbie Grabert of Houma; a half-sister, Kimberly Baudoin of Houma; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Byrd of Cade, Mr. and Mrs. John Fisher of Tullalah, Mr. and Mrs. Harris Grabert of Houma, and Mr. and Mrs. Caulton "Gene" Wilson of New Iberia; and a sister, Jessica Fisher of Coteau.

She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Catherine Wilson Fisher.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Eloise S. Simon

ALEXANDRIA – Services for Eloise Stone Simon, 88, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry Blount officiating. interment was in the Greenwood Memorial Park.

A native of Alexandria and resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Simon died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at St. Martinville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Simon is survived by three daughters, Barbara Simon Snell of Lafayette, Eloise Simon Bryant of St. Martinville and Kathryn Simon Monnin of New Iberia; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Justice James D. Simon of St. Martinville.

The Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Alexandria was in charge of arrangements.

Cecile G. Claffey

PORT ARTHUR, Texas – Services for Mrs. Cecile Gonsoulin Claffey, 92, will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church in Groves, Texas , with the Rev. Don Golasinski officiating. interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur.

A rosary will be recited Monday at 7 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home.

A resident of the Port Arthur/Groves area since 1927, Mrs. Claffey died Saturday, April 11, 1998 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Groves, the Altar Society and the Texaco Retirees.

Mrs. Claffey is survived by two daughters, Hertha McKee and Cynthia Claffey, both of Groves; two sisters, Isabelle Edgerly of Port Arthur and Lorena Angelle of Loreauville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home of Port Arthur is in charge of arrangements.

Harold D. Thomas

FRANKLIN - Services for Harold Dean Thomas, 67, will begin at 12 p.m. today at The Church of Assumption.

Visitation will be at the church until the time of services.

A resident of Franklin, Mr. Thomas died Sunday, April 12, 1998.

Ibert's Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Otto Hebert

Services for Otto Hebert, 78, were held at 11 a.m. today at David Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Guidry officiating. interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by VFW Post No. 1982.

A native of Youngsville and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Hebert died at 2:57 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Iberia Medical Center.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II, a former member of the VFW in New Iberia and he worked at Gragnon's on Weeks Street for more than 40 years.

Mr. Hebert is survived by two sons, Willie Hebert and Willis Hebert, both of New Iberia; one daughter, Shirley Hebert Segura of New Iberia; three grandsons, Tyge Hebert, Shawn Segura and Travis Segura, all of New Iberia; one granddaughter, Angel Hebert of New Iberia; and five great-grandchildren, Cody Hebert, Matthew Hebert, Tiffany Hebert, Courtney Segura and Stephanie Segura all of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Mouton Hebert; his parents, Euphemon and Emelida David Hebert; three brothers, Alva Hebert, Edmond Hebert and Steven Hebert; and two sisters, Judy Hebert Bourque and Anna Mae Hebert.

Pallbearers were Travis Segura, Tyge Hebert, Willie Hebert, Willis Hebert, Scott Segura and Shawn Segura.

Honorary pallbearers were C.J. Bourque and Lester Segura.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia was in charge of arrangements.

Ernie P. Romero

Services for Ernie Paul Romero, 48, will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with the Rev. Steven Leblanc officiating. Entombment will be in the Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4:30-9 p.m. today with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero died at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Iberia Medical Center.

He was the business manager for the law offices of Haik and Minvielle.

Mr. Romero is survived by his mother, Rosa Mae Fremin Romero of New Iberia; one brother, Darryl Romero of New Iberia; and two sisters, Joy R. Gerhart and Sylvia Romero, both of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest J. Romero.

Pallbearers will be Jon Breaux, Erroll Babineaux, Jay Bergeron, John Glas, Scott Romero and Darryl Romero.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Bullock, Dr. Richard Dalton, Will Grubbs, Dr. Leo Landry, Leon Minvielle III, Jerry Patout and Ted Haik.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Alexis A. Pierre Jr.

ST. MARTINVILLE - Funeral services for Alexis A. Pierre Jr., 85, will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Notre Dame Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Mullally officiating. interment will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Pellerin Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

A native and resident of St. Martinville, Mr. Pierre died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II.

Mr. Pierre is survived by one son, Alexis Pierre III of St. Martinville; two daughters, Rosemary Pierre of St. Martinville and Evelyn Pierre-Valsin of Lafayette; one brother, Louis Pierre of Lafayette; one son-in-law, Joseph M. Valsin of Lafayette; one daughter-in-law, Sonya Johnson -Pierre of St. Martinville; three grandchildren, Alexis Pierre IV, Seth Pierre and Sarah Pierre, all of St. Martinville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn James-Pierre; his parents, Alexis A. Pierre Sr. and Lorestine Lewis-Pierre; one sister, Angel Mary Pierre; and three infant brothers.

The Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.

Elie Landry Jr.

DELCAMBRE - Services for Elie "Lulu" Landry Jr., 68, will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Deacon Ken Waguespack officiating. interment will be in the Migues Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Thursday.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Landry died at 6:49 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at a New Iberia hospital.

He was a retired Iberia Parish School Board Employee.

Mr. Landry is survived by two brothers, Dudley P. Landry and Leroy John Landry, both of Delcambre; and three sisters, Nellie L. Renard, Celia L. Renard and Sylvia L. Delcambre, all of Delcambre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elie and Clodia Landry; three brothers, Willie Jules Landry, Willis Paul Landry and John Clarence Landry.

Pallbearers will be Clifford Renard, Cleve Renard, Michael Delcambre, Cecil Landry, Larry Landry and Wayne Landry.

The Evangeline Funeral Home of Delcambre is in charge of arrangements.
