Gabriel Boutte

Services for Gabriel Boutte, 81, are pending.

A native of Patoutville and a resident of Houston, he died at 12:29 p.m. Friday, April 24, 1998, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Houston following a brief illness.

The Fletcher Funeral Homes of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Merza Judice Ducharme

ST. MARTINVILLE – Services for this special person will be held Sunday, April 26, 1998, at 2 p.m. at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Sunday until service time at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville.

Born in St. Martinville on Jan. 16, 1921, she was one of five daughters born to Godfrey and Laure Dugas Judice. In 1950 after spending her early years living and working in the St. Martin-Lafayette area, a chance meeting with a friend from the pre-World War II years resulted in Merza’s marriage to Louis Ducharme of Lafayette in a ceremony at Mitchel Air Force Base, New York, where Louis was on duty as an air force officer.

During the following years, they lived in numerous cities from New York to California while raising two sons. During these years as a loving mother, Merza, with an ever-pleasant smile and friendly manner, established many lasting friendships. Prior to moving to Bossier City in 1994, Merza and her family resided in San Antonio for 30 years where she enjoyed visiting the many malls and having lunch with friends.

A devout Catholic, she was active in the Catholic Women’s Guild at many Air Force installations including Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana . Merza and Louis often referred to their marriage as the greatest thing that ever happened to them.

She is survived by Louis, her loving husband of 48 years; two sons, Louis Ducharme III of Bossier City and Danny Ducharme and his wife, Kristiana of Phoenix; two granddaughters, Heather Ducharme of San Antonio and Arielle Ducharme of Phoenix; four sisters, Solonge Babineaux, Gladys Oubre and her husband, Murphy, of St. Martinville, Verna Bienvenu and her husband, Claude, of New Iberia and Theresa LeBlanc and her husband, Mike, of Houston; and countless friends across the United States. She will be missed but always remembered.

Pallbearers for the service will be Terry Oubre, Cliff Mire, Albert Foti, David Foti, Ronald Bienvenu and Bert Bienvenu.

Carrie K. Rymer

Carrie Katherine Kleinpeter Rymer, 94, of St. David, AZ, Passed away on April 22, 1998. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Paul. She is survived by her son, Alan Rymer, her daughter, Betty Ponsford, both of St. David, AZ, 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Born is New Iberia, the youngest of seven children, Carrie moved to California and worked for Douglas Aircraft during World War II. As a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother, Carrie resided in Los Angeles, San Juan Capistrano and Vista, Cal. She will be greatly missed by all her family and the lives she touched through her gentle kindness and loving faith.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 27, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Benson, AZ, followed by interment at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest, Cal. A memorial mass and service will be held at the Mission San Juan Capistrano on May 1. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimers Association.

Richardson’s Benson Mortuary of Benson, AZ is in charge of arrangements.

Kevin Prados Jr.

Services for Kevin "Sonny" Prados Jr., 20, will begin with a mass in the David Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Michael Guidry officiating and a church service at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Sunday at 3 p.m. interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery of New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 2 p.m. mass and then will resume until time of services Sunday. A 7 p.m. rosary will be recited at David Funeral Home, which will remain open all night.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Prados died at 11:20 a.m. Friday, April 24, 1998, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

He was the co-owner and operator of the Seafood Station.

He is survived by his parents, Kevin Prados Sr. and Tammy Prados of New Iberia; a daughter, Teagan Prados of New Iberia; his maternal grandmother, Elsie B. Fremin of New Iberia; and a special friend, Lori Musemeche of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ulysse J. Fremin; his paternal grandfather, Honore "Teno" Prados; and his paternal grandmother, Lorraine Prados.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Theriot, Brad Comeaux, Rodney Gonsoulin, Gavon LaFont, Levi Perez, B.J. Prados, Louis Prados and Ernie Ray Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Bienvenu, John Melancon Jr., Shawn Prados and Cory Theriot.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Junior Feast

JEANERETTE - Memorial services for Junior Feast, 67, will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Alex Lovett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander officiating.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Feast died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at his residence following a brief illness.

He is survived by one brother, Henry Feast of Jeanerette; one special aunt, Ellen Akers of Beaumont, Texas ; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Feast was preceded in death by his parents, John and Isabelle Fontenot Feast James; two brothers, William Feast and General Feast; two sisters, Georgia Mae Feast Marke and Isabelle Feast Lapoint.

The family request all flowers and donations to be forwarded to First Jerusalem Baptist Church.

The Alex Lovette Funeral Services Inc. are in charge of arrangements.

Edwin Guidry

Services for Edwin "Speck" Guidry, 84, will begin at 2 p.m Tuesday at Our

Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Guidry officiating. interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

A native of Leonville and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Guidry died at 4:21 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 1998, at a New Iberia hospital.

He was a retired truck driver and was employed by Rex Truck Line, D.C. Bonnett, Loffand Brothers and Howard Trucking.

He is survived by six daughters, Sharon Gaspard and Dolly Boudreaux, of New Iberia, Sherlene Guidry of Alexandria; Mary Alice Holley of Brazoria, Texas , Joyce Taylor of Broussard and Connie Girard of New Iberia; two sons, Wildon Guidry of Vatican and Lonnie Segura of New Iberia; two sisters, Evelyn Hargrave of New Iberia and Louise Clements of Abbeville; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Guidry was preceded in death by his parents, Gonzales and Mary Alice Stelly Guidry; his wife, Ethel Derouen Guidry; one son, Charles Guidry; four brothers, Walter Guidry, John Guidry, Louis Guidry and Abel Guidry; one sister, Barbara Guidry; and one granddaughter, Carol Ann Breaux.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Gaspard Jr., Louis Boudreaux Jr., Randy Henry, Lance Menard, Kevin Guidry and Bob Ray Broussard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Minus Taylor and Jim Angelle.

The Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy S. Sikes

JEANERETTE - Services for Mrs. O.C. Sikes Sr., 85, the former Dorothy Sturdivant, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Jeanerette with the Rev. Rick Zolecki officiating. interment will be in the Loisel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-10 p.m. today at David and Landry Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

A native of Dekalb, Texas , and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Sikes died at 3:35 p.m Sunday, March 29, 1998, at Iberia Medical Center.

She was the former owner/operator of Sikes Drive Inn in Jeanerette, a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Jeanerette, a member of Senior Friends, did volunteer work at the local nursing homes and had many long-time friends.

Mrs. Sikes is survived by two sons, John T. Sikes of Orange Park, Fla., and O.C. "Chubby" Sikes Jr. of Jeanerette; one stepson, Mel Sikes of Purvis, Miss.; one sister, Nita DeVoogd of Kentwod, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Sturdivant of Golden Meadow; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odus C. Sikes Sr.; her parents, Samuel and Martha Baldree Sturdivant; one brother; and five sisters.

Pallbearers will be Beau LeJeune, Jack Bannister, Robert Hawley, Damon Migues, Freddie Migues and Chuck Sikes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Barton, Gordon Casselman, John Gatte and Butch Sikes.

The David and Landry Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Herbert E. Broussard Sr.

Services for Herbert "Bear" E. Broussard Sr., 54, will begin at 2 p.m Thursday at David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton Simon officiating. interment will be in the St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coteau Holmes.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A native of Chalmette and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Broussard died at 9:36 p.m. Friday, March 27, 1998, at University Medical Center in Lafayette.

He is survived by his wife, Eugenia Broussard of New Iberia; two sons, Shogun Broussard of New Iberia and Herbert Broussard Jr. of Mobile, Ala; three daughters, Barbara Broussard, Candace Broussard and Samantha Broussard, all of New Iberia; one brother, Allen Broussard of Chalmette; three sisters, Marilyn Broussard of Houston, Wanda Patterson of Irving, Texas , and Sharon Shelves of Slidell; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Broussard was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Evelyn Broussard; and one brother, Fred Broussard.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Suire, Nolan Bonin, Shogun Broussard, Gilbert Hoffpauir, Christopher Suire and Hugh Walker.

The David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
