ERATH - Services for Mrs. Gilbert Duplantis, 94, the former Loria Menard, will begin at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David and Broussard Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Erath, Mrs. Duplantis died at 12:42 a.m. Sunday, April 26, 1998, at Abbeville General Hospital.

The David and Broussard Funeral Home of Erath is in charge of arrangements.

Richard V. Racca

Services for Richard Vandyke Racca, 64, will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with the Rev. Albert Boumans officiating. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

A native of Jennings and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Racca died at 5 a.m. Sunday, April 26, 1998, in a local hospital.

He was retired from Arceneaux Ford Parts Department after 10 years of service.

Mr. Racca is survived by his wife, Doris LeBlanc Racca of New Iberia; three sons, Donald Racca and his wife, Bonnie Judice Racca of Pineville, Brian Paul Racca and Robert Van Racca, both of New Iberia; one daughter, Mona Racca Gondran and her husband Patrick Gondran of New Iberia; three brothers, Ray Racca, Roy Racca and Howard Racca, all of Jennings; two sisters, Frances Racca Pretes of Galveston, Texas , and Mrs. Bill (Margie) Morris of Jennings; and three grandchildren, Cody Gondran of New Iberia, Elliott Racca and Kevin Racca, both of Pineville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel and Donatile Monceaux Racca; two brothers, Clayton Racca and Hulin Racca; and two sisters, Lou Wilkerson and Florence Richert.

Pallbearers will be Gene Nora, James Manuel, Sidney Istre, Allen Noel, Wilton Fitch and Larry Landry.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Una V. Simon

ERATH - Services for Una Morvant Vice Simon, 80, will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David and Broussard Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A native of Iberia Parish and resident of Erath, Mrs. Simon died at 3:03 p.m. Monday, April 27, 1998, at Morris Lahasky Nursing Home.

The David and Broussard Funeral Home of Erath is in charge of arrangements.

Gabriel Boutte

LYDIA - Services for Gabriel Boutte, 81, will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with the Rev. Emmanuel Hernandez officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. rosary at St. Nicholas Catholic Church Life Center, which will reopen at 7 a.m. Wednesday.

A native of Grand Marais and resident of Houston for many years, Mr. Boutte died at 12:29 p.m. Friday, April 24, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston following a brief illness.

He is survived by six sons, Melvin Boutte Sr. of New Iberia, Charles Boutte, Xavier Boutte, Paul Boutte, Arthur Boutte and Rev. Clarence Boutte, all of Houston; three daughters, Joyce Boutte, Jeanette Boutte and Theresa B. Vaughn, all of Houston; one brother, Paul Verdun of Grand Marais; two sisters, Yola Broussard of New Iberia and Bertha Desdunes of New Orleans; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Boutte was preceded in death by his parents, Alcee Boutte and Josephine F. Boutte; his wife, Eunice P. Boutte; four brothers, Alcide Boutte, Lucien Boutte, John Boutte and Albert Boutte Sr.; and two sisters, Francis Boutte and Lucia Boutte.

Pallbearers will be members of the immediate family.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the immediate family.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur L. Schexnayder Sr.

Services for Arthur Lewis Schexnayder Sr., 84, will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Deacon Ken Waguespack officiating. interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by VFW Post 1982 Honor Guard of New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Schexnayder died at 8:15 a.m. Monday, April 27, 1998, at a New Iberia hospital.

He was a graduate of Soule Business College and the University of Southwestern Louisiana . Mr. Schexnayder was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II, a past member of the Sea Bees and a Third Degree Knight of St. Peter’s Knights of Columbus Council 1208, a member and past president of the Lions Club.

Mr. Schexnayder is survived by five sons, Arthur L. Schexnayder Jr., Gene A. Schexnayder and R. Wayne Schexnayder, all of New Iberia, James Robert “Jim” Schexnayder of Orangefield, Texas , and Norman E. Schexnayder, of Bradenton, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. J.B. (Carole) Viviano of Opelousas, Mrs. Byron (Madeline) Bernard of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Irby (Beth) Delahoussaye of Harvey; one brother, Gordon A. Schexnayder of New Iberia; 29 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his prents, Arthur J. and Anita Mestayer Schexnayder Sr.; five brothers, Clifford Schexnayder Sr., Arthur J. Schexnayder Jr., Francis Sitges Schexnayder, Rev. Leo Schexnayder and Oswald Schexnayder; and two sisters, Lillian Veazey and Una Brigante.

Pallbearers will be Arthur L. Schexnayder Jr., James Robert “Jim” Schexnayder, Norman E. Schexnayder, Jean Schexnayder, Ricky Viviano, Leon Delahoussaye, Bobby Bernard and Allen “Bubba” Gonsuron.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Delahoussaye, Kirby Delahoussaye, Chuck Delahoussaye, David Viviano, Neil Schexnayder, Eugene Schexnayder, Brian Schexnayder, Douglas Schexnayder, Bobby Schexnayder and Jimmy Schexnayder Jr.

Memorials may be made to ARC Unlimited: 3716 Redwood Drive, New Iberia, La. 70560.

Sheila B. Pere’

ABBEVILLE - Services for Mrs. Ronnie James Pere’, 40, the former Sheila Broussard, will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. interment will be in the St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today at David and Hebert Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday with a 9 a.m. rosary.

A native of Abbeville and resident of Maurice, Mrs. Pere’ died at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at her residence.

The David and Hebert Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

Elus Trahan

BROUSSARD - Services for Elus “Pop” Trahan, 84, will begin at 2 p.m. today at St. Anne Catholic Church. interment will be in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home until the time of services.

A native of Maurice and resident of Youngsville, Mr. Trahan died at 4:25 p.m. Monday, April 27, 1998, at University Medical Center.

The David Funeral Home of Broussard is in charge of arrangements.

Laura H. Badeaux

FRANKLIN - Services for Laura Hebert Badeaux, 68, will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Ibert’s Chapel. interment will be in the Perpetual Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-10 p.m. Thursday at Ibert’s Chapel, which will reopen at 10 a.m. Friday until the time of services.

Mrs. Badeaux died at 10:38 p.m. Monday April 27, 1998, at Terrebone General Hospital in Houma.

The Ibert’s Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Alwin I. Landry Sr.

Services for Alwin I. Landry Sr., 82, will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at David Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Rogalla, associate pastor of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, officiating. interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.

A native of Jeanerette and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Landry died at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Iberia Medical Center.

He was a retired machinist with J&L Engineering of Jeanerette.

Mr. Landry is survived by his wife, Gladys Rabeaux Landry of New Iberia; one son, Alwin I. Landry Jr. of Centerville; four daughters, Betty Trahan and Jacquelyn Wiggins, both of Coteau, Ellena Faye Poirrier of New Iberia and Laura Smith of Lydia; one brother, Russell Landry Sr. of Jeanerette; 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludy Escagne Landry and Whitney Landry; two brothers, Francis Landry and Robert Landry; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Alwin Landry Jr., Paul Trahan Sr., Paul Trahan Jr., Bobby Wiggins, Bobby Smith and Brock Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Nicko Poirrier, Todd Trahan, Dean Wiggins, Heath Wiggins and Ian Smith.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
