Services for Hilda Charles, 62, the former Hilda Brooks, will begin at 8 p.m. today at Journet and Bolden Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Sayrie officiating. interment will be in the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Charles died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, May, 5, 1998, at Dauterive Hospital.

She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Charles is survived by her husband, Larry Charles of New Iberia; her mother, Irene George Brooks of New Iberia; four sons, Carl Mitchell, Carlos James Brooks, Steve Charles and William Charles, all of New Iberia; two daughters, Brendell Joseph and Alene Cerf, both of New Iberia; one brother, Harold Brooks of New Iberia; five sisters, Florence Darby, Rena Johnson , Alzena Spencer, Marie James and Catherine Gregoire, all of New Iberia; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dalton Brooks; one brother, Cornelieus Brooks; and one sister, Aldora Brooks Thomas.

Pallbearers will be friends and family members.

The Journet and Bolden Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Frederick

ABBEVILLE - Services for Betty Frederick, 46, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael C. Wright officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today at the Fletcher Funeral Home, which will reopen from 7:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Saturday and resume at the church at 1 p.m.

A resident of Abbeville for many years, Mrs. Frederick died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Abbeville General Hospital, following a brief illness.

She is survived by a devoted companion, John McDonald of Abbeville; three sons, Courtney Frederick, Cornelius Frederick and Lodgie Frederick, all of Abbeville; one daughter, Rena Frederick of Abbeville; three brothers, Wevis Small Jr. and James Davenport, both of Abbeville, and Walter Davenport of Providence, RI.; four sisters, Mary Joyce Davenport and Mary Small, both of Abbeville, Lillie Bell Johnson and Sherry Davenport, both of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Frederick was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Davenport and Mable N. Davenport; and one sister, Darlene Evans.

Pallbearers will be Courtney Frederick, Cornelius Frederick, Lodgie Frederick, James Guidry, Allen Small and Troy Walker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Small, Felix Small, Jerome Fauntleroy, Randell Petry, Curtis Fauntleroy and Wevis John Small.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

Frank Scott

JEANERETTE - Services for Frank Scott will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Lee Jones officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of services.

A resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Scott died at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at Maison Teche Nursing Home following a brief illness.

He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a member of the Senior Choir and was a member of Harry Eugene American Legion Post 549 of Jeanerette.

Mr. Scott is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph Scott and Orelia Elaire Scott; and three sisters, Geneva S. Wiles, Lena Bobb and Lee Scott.

Pallbearers will be Bernard Rideaux, JoVani Alexander, Donald Ray Wells, Tommy Lewis, Elijah Lewis and Coray LaCraig Wiles.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carnell Joseph Wiles, Christopher Shawn Wiles, Robert Jones, Ronald Russell Sr. and Alvin Bobb.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Audrey B. Carter

FRANKLIN – Services for Audrey Bartley Carter, 51, the former Audrey Bartley, will begin at 8 p.m. today at the Otis Mortuary with Rev. Sandral Nerve officiating. interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery of Charenton at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today, at the funeral home, which will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday until time of interment.

A native of Charenton and resident of Baldwin for several years, Mrs. Carter died at 9:26 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at the Franklin Foundation Hospital.

She was a missionary.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her father, Ernest Bartley Jr. of Charenton; one daughter, Cheryl A. Carter of Baldwin; five brothers, Wilfred Bartley Sr., Alfred Bartley Sr. and Rufus Bartley, all of Charenton, Darrell Bartley of New Orleans and John Bartley of Port Arthur, Texas ; four sisters, Cecile Bartley and Joyce Keal, both of Charenton, Enola Abraham and Jane Harding, both of Baldwin and one grandchild.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her mother, Evelina Keal Bartley.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Solange R. Touchet

ERATH – Services for Solange Romero Touchet, 83, began at 11:30 a.m. today at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation was from 2:30-10 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which reopened at 8 a.m. today until time of services.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Touchet died at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 1998, at Abbeville General Hospital.

The David & Broussard Funeral Home of Erath is in charge of arrangements.

Rose Jones

ST. MARTINVILLE – Services for Rose Jones, 81, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Notre Dame Catholic Church. interment will be in Our Lady of Victoria Catholic Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today at the Golden Meadows Funeral Home.

A resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Jones died Monday, May 4, 1998, at the St. Martinville Nursing Home.

Mrs. Jones is survived by six sons, Alvin Jones Sr., Alfred Jones Jr., Richard Jones and Roy Jones, all of St. Martinville, and Freddie A. Jones Sr. and Grady Jones Sr., both of Franklin; two daughters, Hellen Durand and Hilda Jones Foster, both of St. Martinville; five brothers, Robert Fontenette, Tony Fontenette, Whitney Fontenette, Floyd Fontenette and Herman Fontenette, all of Port Arthur, Texas ; six sisters, Alberta Williams of Cade, Castillia Orphe, Shirley Lewis, Margaret Fontenette and Prenella Benjamin, all of St. Martinville, and Elaine Green of Broussard; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Jones; two sons, Warren and Tommy Jones; one daughter, Rosa Mae Jones; five brothers, Perry, Roy, Peter, Richard and Merlyn Fontenette; and two sisters, Mable Porter and Maudry Porter.

The Golden Meadows Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred E. Delhomme

Services for Mrs. Alfred Joseph Delhomme, 93, the former Mildred Eccles, will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at David Funeral Home with the Rev. David Boothe officiating. Entombment will be in the Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

A native of Livingston Parish and resident of Alexandria, Mrs. Delhomme died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 1998, at The Summit Nursing Home in Alexandria.

She was a former resident of New Iberia and a member of the First Baptist Church of New Iberia for over 60 years where she taught Sunday School. Mrs. Delhomme was active in Women’s Missionary Union and was a bookkeeper.

Mrs. Delhomme is survived one son, Richard L. "Dick" Delhomme of New Iberia; two daughters, Catherine Alexander of Jeanerette and Sylvia Walter of Pineville; three brothers, Carl Eccles of Baton Rouge, Cecil Eccles of Houston and Elton Eccles of Walker; one sister, Wilma O’Neal of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Joseph Delhomme; her parents, Thomas T. Eccles and Lavinia King Eccles; and one brother, Marion Eccles.

Pallbearers will be William Bret Walter, Galen Micah Alexander, James Arlen Alexander, Richard L. "Dick" Delhomme, Alfred Joseph Delhomme II and Byron L. Eyre.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

William R. Duck

ERATH - Services for William Reeve “Billy” Duck, 38, will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Wayne Duet officiating. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 2-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David and Broussard Funeral Home, which will reopen at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

A native of Sausalito, Calif., and resident of Erath, Mr. Duck died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 1998, on an offshore rig in the Gulf in a work-related accident.

He was a 1978 graduate of Erath High School and was employed by Fluid Crane and Construction as a crane superintendent.

Mr. Duck is survived by his father, Durwood Duck of Alexandria; his mother, Gayle Broussard Duck of Erath; his fiancee, Vanessa Brasseaux and her daughter Brooke of Abbeville; two sisters, Mrs. Edrick (Sheila) Leblanc of Delcambre and Mrs. Carl (Patrice) Rogers of Erath; and four nieces.

He was preceded in death by one brother, David Neal Duck; his maternal grandparents, David and Tessie Richard Broussard; and his paternal grandparents, Dallas and Maude Hebert Duck.

Pallbearers will be Scott Backstrom, David Broussard Jr., Greg Menard, Jason Menard, Carson Nunez and Brent Perrin.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ed Domingues.

The David and Broussard Funeral Home of Erath is in charge of arrangements.
