Donald J. Moulis

LAFAYETTE - Services for Donald J. Moulis, 71, will begin at 2 p.m. today at Delhomme Bertrand Chapel of the Flowers with the Rev. Michael Champagne officiating. interment will be in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home until the time of services.

A native of St. Martinville and resident of Lafayette, Mr. Moulis died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at his residence.

He retired after 30 years of service with the Lafayette Utility System as the chief operator and chemist at the "Doc Bonin" Electric Generating Station, where he received commendations for his outstanding services in that capacity.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kalinin Bay, participating in the Pacific Operations in the Marshall Islands, the Titian capture and occupation, Western Carolina Islands and the Battle for Leyte Gulf. His awards and decorations include the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with four stars, American Area Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal with one star, Presidential Unit Citation with one star, and a commendation at Meritorious Mast for excellent performances against the Japanese Surface Forces.

His commendation for the Battle of Leyte Gulf reads as follows; "Your nation and its citizens will never forget your sacrifices and gallant action during that stressful period." He was also commended for devotion to duty, courage and uncommon bravery. Mr. Moulis was also called upon and served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Moulis is survived by his wife, Joyce Olivier Moulis of Lafayette; three sons, David and his wife, Mary Moulis, Mark and his wife, Vickie Moulis and Frank Moulis all of Lafayette; three daughters, Donna Moulis Rabeaux and her husband, Karl Rabeaux of Youngsville, Cathrine Moulis of Houston and Nancy Moulis of Youngsville; one brother, Col. Wallace J. Moulis, U.S. Army Ret., of Arlington, Va.; one sister, Florence Mestayer of Loreauville; eight grandchildren, Kristi M. LaCaze, Scott Moulis, Jason Rabeaux, Nicholas Rabeaux, Holly Harmon, Andy Harmon, Marshall Moulis and Malloy Moulis; and five great-grandchildren; Ashley LaCaze, Laney LaCaze, Dustin Rabeaux, Kourtney Moulis and Ashley Bourque.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Moulis and Edward Moulis; two brothers, Ralph Moulis and Warren Moulis; and one sister, Rowena M. Boudreaux.

Pallbearers will be Scott Moulis, Karl Rabeaux, Jason Rabeaux, Nicholas Rabeaux, Richard LaCaze, Ned Hawkins, Karl Mestayer and Brian Resweber.

Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Harmon, Marshall Moulis, Malloy Moulis, Donald Olivier, John O'Donavan and Dustin Rabeaux.

The Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette is in charge of arrangements.

Mattie W. Henry

Services for Mattie W. Henry, 62, the former Mattie Welcome, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Star Pilgrim Baptist Church. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Houston for five years, Mrs. Henry died at 9:30 am. Sunday, March 29, 1998, at Columbia Hospital in Houston.

She is survived by four sons, Charlie Henry Jr. and Dwayne Henry, both of Houston, Warren Henry and Terry Henry, both of Maurice; four daughters, Gloria Doucette, Diane H. Johnson , Betty Mitchell and Lisa Henry, all of Houston; seven brothers, Junius Welcome, Harry Welcome, Aurthur Welcome, Lorne Welcome, James Welcome and Roy Welcome, all of New Iberia and Harrison Welcome of Houston; one sister, Mary Ann W. Rideaux of New Iberia; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Henry Sr.; her parents, Harry Welcome Sr. and Mary St. Julian Welcome; two sons, Michael Henry and Jerry Henry; and one daughter, Mona Henry.

Pallbearers will be Wilton Livingston, James Welcome, Charlie Henry Jr., Willis Anderson, Curtis Johnson and Warren Henry.

The Fondal Funeral Home of Houston, Texas , is in charge of arrangements.

Roselie George

Services for Roselie George, 74, the former Roselie Londo, will begin at 7 p.m. today at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Edward Tauriac officiating. interment will be in the Mount Zion Baptist Cemetery in Petit Anse at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

A resident of Avery Island for many years, Mrs. George died at 5 p.m. Monday, March 30, 1998, at her residence following a brief illness.

She is survived by two sons, Lester Harris Jr. of Sweeny, Texas , and Norbert George Jr. of Baldwin; two daughters, Ida Arceneaux of Avery Island and Leona Faye Irving of Angleton, Texas ; two brothers, Wilton Londo of Alexandria and Issac Londo Jr. of New Iberia; two sisters, Rosemary Anthony of New Iberia and Audrey Moore of Houston; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. George was preceded in death by her parents, Issac Londo Sr. and Emma S. Londo; her husband, Norbert George Sr.; two daughters, Emma Lee Harris and Ines Harris; three brothers, Stewart Londo, Walter Londo and Wallace Londo; and three sisters, Victoria Broussard, Dorothy Mae Shello and Mary Hayes.

Pallbearers will be Wilson James Shello Jr., Floyd Arceneaux, Arthur Shello, Wilson James Shello III, William Andrew and Weston George.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lester Harris Jr., Norbert George Jr., Wilton Andrew, Nathan Walker, Rufus Irving and Issac Londo Jr.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Eunice M. Hebert

HITCHOCK, Texas - Funeral Mass for Eunice Mire Hebert, 92, was held Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Ferguson officiating. interment was in the Galveston Memorial Park.

A native of Jeanerette, former resident of Franklin, and resident of Hitchock for more than 40 years, Mrs. Hebert died Friday, March 27, 1998.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Hebert of Hitchock and Jerome Hebert of Santa Fe, Texas ; and two brothers, Clifford Mire of Galveston and Fred Mire of Jeanerette.

Mrs. Hebert was preceded in death by her husband, Abel Hebert.

Scott Stoute

LONGVIEW, Texas - Services for Scott Stoute, 39, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Revs. Gavin and Joe officiating. interment will be in the Rosewood Park

A rosary with Rev. Mark officiating will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Croley Chapel in Gilmer, Texas .

A native of Lafayette and resident of Longview, Mr. Stoute died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, in Saudi Arabia as the result of an automobile accident.

He was employed in sales and service for Halliburton.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Stoute of Longview; two daughters, Mitzi Stoute and Savannah Stoute, both of Longview; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Stoute of New Iberia; one brother, Greg Stoute of Kingwood, Texas ; one sister, Charlene Martinez of Longview; and his mother-in-law, Charlene Brannon of Diana, Texas .

The Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer, Texas , is in charge of arrangements.

Aubrey Jeffreys

Services for Aubrey "Jeff" Jeffreys, 85, will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at David Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reggie Ogea officiating. interment will be in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at David Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.

A native of Brownwood, Texas , and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Jeffreys died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at Dauterive Hospital.

He retried from Exxon after 32 years of service as a construction foreman. Mr. Jeff was well known among trail riding groups for his lifetime enjoyment of riding and his commitment to encouraging many young people to get involved in horsemanship. He was a veteran of the North African campaign during World War II.

Mr. Jeffreys is survived by his wife, Bernice Bronson Jeffreys of New Iberia; one son, Edward A. Jeffreys of New Iberia; one daughter-in-law, Jacklyn Prince Jeffreys of New Iberia; one grandson and his wife, David and Stephanie Richard Jeffreys of Magnolia, Miss.; one granddaughter and her husband, Timothy and Gretchen Jeffreys Stewart of Fort Smith, Ark.; and one great-grandson, Aaron Jeffreys of Magnolia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Iven and Elizabeth Burleson Jeffreys; three brothers, Norman Jeffreys, Richard Jeffreys and William Jeffreys; and three sisters, Maggie Lou Corbel, Lucy Delashaw and Bonnie Belle Whitwell.

Pallbearers will be David Jeffreys, Timothy Stewart, Larry Guidry, Bruno Habety, Errol Neuville and Allen Hebert.

Honorary pallbearers will be C.L. Viator, Wilsey Boudoin, Jimmy Geer, Pat Pondrom, Hugh Breaux and Carrol Mestayer.

The David Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Esme B. Boutte

Services for Esme B. Boutte, 88, will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at David Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Albert Boumans officiating. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

A native of Loreauville and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Boutte died at 3:55 p.m. Monday, March 30, 1998, at her daughter's residence.

She was a former employee of The Daily Iberian.

Mrs. Boutte is survived by one daughter, Fay B. Thomas of New Iberia; one brother, Roy Boutte of New Iberia; two sisters, Mrs. Emile (Lizzie) Haydel and Earline B. Migues, both of New Iberia; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Joseph Boutte; her parents, Joseph Louis and Ira Margaret Decoux Boutte; one brother, Louis Boutte; one grandson, Timothy Thomas; and two sisters, Louise Boutte and Hazel B. Orr.

Pallbearers will be Zie Thomas Sr., Roy Boutte, Joe Haydel, Donald LaBauve, Fredy Thomas and Zie Thomas Jr.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
