Alice J. Bigler

FRANKLIN - Services for Alice Juanita "Red" Bigler, 80, will begin at 2 p.m Thursday at Ibert's Chapel with the Rev. Rowell officiating. interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A resident of Franklin, Miss Bigler died Monday, March 30, 1998, at Franklin Nursing Home.

Miss Bigler graduated from Franklin High School. After working many years for Columbia Plantation, the Draft Board and Blevins Motor Co., she joined the U.S. Navy Reserve, and attained the rank of chief yeoman. She served in Naval Intelligence in Washington from 1943-1947 and was a charter member of Women in Miliary Service for America – a memorial that honors all women of all wars who served for America. After returning from military service, she attended SLI (now USL) in Lafayette, and received a degree in business and English. She was a member of the Freshman Honor Society, Lamda Omega, Tri-Sigma Sorority, and the Red Jackets. After graduating from college, she went to work for Shell Oil Co. in Franklin and Morgan City and retired after 26 years of service as administrative assistant in the off-shore division. Miss Bigler was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by four brothers, Louis S. Bigler of Lafayette, H.M. Bigler Jr.and William R. Bigler, both of Franklin and Clyde S. Bigler of Baytown, Texas ; four sisters, Elizabeth B. Carr and Majorie B. Shinn, both of Franklin, Rosemary B. Romero of New Iberia and Marguerite B. Primeaux of Hayes; 23 nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives.

Miss Bigler was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Mayer Bigler Sr. and Alice Ellen Kappel Bigler; and one brother, Karl J. Bigler.

Memorial donations may be made to Women in Military Service for America, P.O. 96742, Washington , D.C. 20077-7771, First United Methodist Church or the St. Mary chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Ibert's Mortuary Inc. of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Cynthia P. LeBlanc

Services for Mrs. Dewey A. LeBlanc , 77, the former Cynthia Jane Powell, will begin at 2 p.m Thursday at Evangeline Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Pharr of Word of Faith Deliverance Center officiating. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Broussard.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

A native of Trion, Ga., and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. LeBlanc died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 1998, in a local hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Dewey A. LeBlanc of New Iberia; two daughters, Mrs. Jennie Viola Watson and her husband Troy S. Watson and Cynthia Dolores Swanson, all of Dallas; one sister, Mae Vance of Somerville, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, Diane and Andy Landry of Jeanerette, Ray and Nancy Reed of Pottsboro, Texas , Ronnie and Bertie Bledsoe of Chicago, Susan Delaine and Don Pharr of Broussard, Cynthia Kathleen Schwab of Fort Worth, Texas , and Timothy and Joyce Watson of Dallas; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. LeBlanc was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Jennie Simmons Powell; and three sisters, Lockie Griffeth, Eva Wilson and Ruth Bryson.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Irene S. Robertson

FREETOWN - Services for Irene S. Robertson, 84, the former Irene Simon, will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Maze officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today at the Journet and Bolden Funeral Home,which will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Robertson died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 1998, at her residence.

She was a honorary deaconess at Mount Olive Church.

Mrs. Robertson is survived by three sons, Andrew Jackson , Carlton Jackson and Preston Segura, all of New Iberia; two brothers, Matthew Simon of New Orleans and Morris Simon of New Iberia; two sisters, Alice Livingston of New Iberia and Gertie Foster of San Francisco; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leroy Jackson ; her second husband, Frank Robertson; her parents, Morris Simon and Louise Broussard; two brothers, Marshal Simon and Alex Simon; two sisters, Ada Edwards and Avia Coleman; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The Journet and Bolden Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Beatrice V. Beadle

JEANERETTE - Services for Mrs. Byron Beadle, 77, the former Beatrice "Aunt Bea" Verret, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-10 p.m. today with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at David and Landry Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Beadle died at 10 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Iberia Medical Center.

She was a former radio dispatcher for the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, a member of the Catholic Daughters and grand regent for many years, an Amway distributor and a beautician. She was also active with St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Mrs. Beadle was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Beadle; and her parents, Adolph Verret and Eugenie Schexnayder Verret.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Guidry, Chris Guidry, Bert Martin, Dr. Raymond Schexnayder, Kyle Scott and Gary Bordelon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Guidry, Brad Guidry, Jamie Scott, Lonnie Scott Jr., Robert Schexnayder Jr. and Catholic Daughter Members.

The David and Landry Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Forrest Arceneaux Sr.

YOUNGSVILLE - Services for Forrest "Toe-Toe" Arceneaux Sr., 72, will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church. interment will be in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette.

Visitation will be all day Monday with a 6 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will remain open all night.

A native of Rayne and resident of Youngsville, Mr. Arceneaux died at 6:25 a.m. Sunday, March 22, 1998, at his residence.

The David Funeral Home of Broussard is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Oubre

LOREAUVILLE – Services for Charles “Chip” Oubre, 93, will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Thevis officiating. interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-10 p.m. Monday with a 7 p.m. Rosary at David Funeral Home in Loreauville and will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service.

A native of Loreauville and resident of Loreauville, Mr. Oubre died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, 1998 at the Consolata Nursing Home in New Iberia.

He was the retired owner and operator of Charles Oubre Grocery in Loreauville. He has maintained the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Loreauville for 30 years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society.

Mr. Oubre is survived by four daughters, Mercedes “Merci” LaDouceur of New Iberia, Jeanne Martin of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Sylvia Roy of St. Martinville and Cynthia Russo of St. Martinville; six sons, Albert Oubre of New Iberia, Carol Michael Oubre of Sumter, S.C., Claude Oubre of Eunice, Earl Oubre of Hesperia, Calif., Lynward Oubre of Loreauville and Richard Oubre of San Antonio, Texas ; one brother, Paul Oubre of Loreauville; and one sister, Marie Bergeron of Loreauville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Antoinette Pete Oubre; his parents, George Oubre and Hilda Decuir Oubre; his daughter, Charlene Dayton; two brothers, Frederick and Henry Oubre; two sisters, Olympe Dressel and Louise Oubre; his grandchild, Lynn Claire Oubre; his great grandson, Edward Daniel Oubre; and 36 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are his six sons.

The David Funeral Home of Loreauville is in charge of arrangements.

Jessie M. White Jr.

Services for Jessie White , 54, will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the David Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia. interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. rosary and will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday until time of services.

A native of Lake Providence and resident of Broussard, Mr. White died at 3:31 p.m. Friday, March 20, 1998 at the Lafayette General Hospital.

He was a computer manager for Ambar. He was a member of the National Chapter of G.W.R.R.A. He retired form the navy after 20 years. He served during Vietnam. Towards the end of his military career, he was named as one of the top recruiters in South Louisiana . He retired as a Senior Chief in the navy. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1982 in New Iberia.

Mr. White is survived by his wife, Morgan Butcher of Broussard; his mother, Mildred Louise Landrem White of New Iberia; three daughters, Ruth Anne White Vondette of Fort Cambell, Tenn. and Jessica Lynn White and Latricia Marie White both of Broussard; his step-son, Randy Young of Lafayette; two brothers, Charles Clark White and James “Butch” White both of New Iberia; his step-daughter, Tracie Young of Broussard; three sisters, Jessica Elizabeth Gromer of Baton Rouge, Barbara White Mazerole of New Iberia and Sheila White McDonald of Lafayette; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie M. White Sr.

Pallbearers are Arty Mazerole, Jim McDonald, James Beau White , James “Butch” White , Charles White Jr. and Randy Young.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Nettie P. Breaux

ABBEVILLE – Services for Nettie P. Breaux, 56, the former Nettie Ann Peltier will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Therese Catholic Church in Abbeville with the Rev. Chester Arceneaux officiating. interment will be in the St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary at the Vincent Funeral Home in Abbeville, which will reopen at 8 a.m. until time of services.

Mrs. Breaux died at 12:30 p.m., Thursday March 19, 1998 at the University Medical Center in Lafayette.

She is survived by her husband, Wilmer Breaux of Abbeville; her father, Edias Peltier of Abbeville; two sons, Eric Breaux of New Iberia and Jason Breaux of Albuquerque, N.M.; her daughter, Mrs. Bobby (Milissa) Jordan of Erath; her brother, Allen Peltier of Broussard; and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Breaux was preceded in death by her mother, Lou Anna Gary Peltier.

Pallbearers are Kenny McIntyre, Carl Breaux, Steve Lege, Grady Breaux, Tom Marceaux and Dallas Delhomme.

Honorary pallbearers are Mark Delcambre and Zack Marceaux.

The Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.
