Ledoux Thomassee

BROUSSARD - Services for Ledoux Thomassee, 50, will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at David Funeral Home Chapel. interment will be in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

A native of Breaux Bridge and resident of Youngsville, Mr. Thomassee died at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 1998, at his residence.

The David Funeral Home of Broussard is in charge of arrangements.

Henry Hiceman Jr.

Services for Henry Hiceman Jr., 79, will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home. interment will be in the St. Peters Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.

A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Hiceman died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at his residence.

The David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

James R. Garrould

Services for James “Buddy” Robert Garrould, 67, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Adams officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday.

A native of Iberia Parish, past resident of New Iberia and resident of Coteau for 25 years, Mr. Garrould died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 1998, at a Lafayette hospital.

He retired from Reading and Bates in 1985 as a tool pusher. He was an avid fisherman.

Mr. Garrould is survived by his wife, Coleen Durham Garrould of Coteau; his mother, Elizabeth Garrould Hebert of New Iberia; one son, Robert G. “Bobby” Garrould of Coteau; one daughter, Debra L. “Debbie” Garrould of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Betty Jean) Fages of New Iberia and Mrs. Richard (Ann) Harpel of Jeanerette; three grandchildren, Mrs. Jessie (Robbie Viator) Terrell of Baton Rouge, and Joshua M. Garrould and Brett J. Garrould, both of Coteau.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Charles “Bob” Garrould.

The family requests memorials be made to the Children’s Special Health Services, 2100 Jefferson St. Room 302C, Lafayette, La. 70501.

Pallbearers will be Joshua M. Garrould, Brett J. Garrould, Jessie J. Terrell, Douglas Durham, Gary Michael LaFleur and Robert P. Viator.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Harpel, Donald Fages and Fred Romero.

Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

William O'Dea

Services for William "Bill" O'Dea, 72, will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with the Rev. Albert Boumans officiating. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum with military graveside services conducted by VFW Post 1982 of New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m Wednesday.

A native of Andrew and resident of New Iberia, Mr. O'Dea died at 2 a.m. today, Monday, March 9, 1998, at Dauterive Hospital.

He was a retired certified executive chef, past president of the Acadiana Chapter of American Culinary Federation, chef of the year in 1989, a member of the American Culinary Federation, the Acadiana Kennel Club, the American Academy of Chefs, the Honor Society of American Culinary Federation and he retired from Hotel Acadiana after nine years of service.

Mr. O'Dea is survived by his wife, Marie Smith O'Dea of New Iberia; one daughter, Linda O'Dea Sears of Fairfield, Ohio; one sister, "Dean" Eleanor Frost of Lafayette; two grandchildren; and seven loving poodles, Danee, Laci, Stormi, Jezzi, Blacki, Rhapsody and Hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Winnie Trahan O'Dea; and one son, William O'Dea Jr.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Smith, Luther Frost, Jay Landry, Bill Smith and Chad Smith.

Honorary pallbearer will be Beau Landry.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Lelia Alexander

JEANERETTE - Services for Lelia Alexander, 102, the former Lelia Withers, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fulton Raymond officiating. interment will be in the Rising Sun Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of services.

A former resident of Jeanerette and a resident of Compton, Calif., for two years, Mrs. Alexander died at 1 p.m Monday, March, 9, 1998, at Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in Los Angeles following a brief illness.

She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Alexander is survived by one daughter, Anna Muriel Smith of Compton, Calif; one brother, Harry Withers of Jennings; two sisters, Rita Jones of Jeanerette and Rena Withers of Texas ; and two grandchildren, Debra Elaine Bass of New York and Vincent Eric Smith of Los Angeles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Alexander; her parents, Arthur Withers and Louise Rock Withers; and one brother.

Pallbearers will be members of the immediate family.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

LaVonna M. Jefferies

Services for Mrs. Gene L. Jefferies, 61, the former LaVonna "Mujer" Manning will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. Reggie Ogea officiating. interment will be in the Beau Pre Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday until the time of services.

A native of Avondale, Ariz., and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Jefferies died at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at a New Iberia hospital.

She was a member of Highland Baptist Church, a Life Master bridge player, a member of the ACBL and a former member of the Woman's Club.

Mrs. Jefferies was the beloved wife of Gene L. Jefferies of New Iberia and the devoted mother of Joseph B. Jefferies and his wife, Gretchen Porche Jefferies of New Iberia; Deborah J. Schwing and her husband, Edmond "Beaver" Schwing and Marilyn J. Bourgeois and her husband, David Bourgeois, all of New Iberia, and Janet J. DuBois and her husband, David DuBois of Milledgeville, Ga. She is also survived by one brother, Charles Manning of Litchfield Park, Ariz; three sisters, Gladys M. Shrock of Carlsbad, Calif., Louise M. Campbell of Avondale, Ariz., and Betty M. Whitacre of Tempe, Ariz; and 11 grandchildren, Aaron, Caroline and Austin Schwing, Nick, Blake, Garett and Kali Bourgeois, Spencer and Mitchell Jefferies, all of New Iberia, and Kelsey and Parker DuBois of Milledgeville, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Verna Merwin Manning.

Pallbearers will be Joseph B. Jefferies, David Bourgeois, Edmond "Beaver" Schwing, David DuBois, Dan Jefferies, Boyd Jefferies and Clarence "Pug" Wood.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Allen and Larry Scroggs.

Memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church, 604 Victory Drive, New Iberia, La. 70560.

Anna M. Zimmer

LAKE PROVIDENCE - Services for Mrs. Charles F. Zimmer, 86, the former Anna Marie Sitton, will begin at 11 am. Friday with a Mass at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Murphy officiating. interment will be in the Lake Providence Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 16, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary by the Rev. Joe Martani at Cox Funeral Home.

A resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Zimmer died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 1998, at her daughter's residence in New Orleans following a brief illness.

Born June 27, 1911, in Lake Providence, Mrs. Zimmer was the daughter of the late Thomas Stribling and Mary Elizabeth Nothofer Sitton. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier Convent in Vicksburg, Miss., and Business College in Monroe.

Mrs. Zimmer lived the majority of her life in Lake Providence. She was a member of the choir at St. Patrick's Church and a volunteer at the school.

She moved to Lafayette in 1986 and took courses at USL every semester until her death. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She was also a volunteer at Our Lady of Fatima Church and active with the "Lafayette Greenhouse" Senior Citizen's Center.

Mrs. Zimmer is survived by three sons, John Zimmer of New Iberia, Paul Zimmer of Dallas and Michael Peter Zimmer of Atlanta, Ga.; seven daughters, Mrs. Robert (Elsa) Phillips and Mrs. Gene (Veronica) Corriher, both of Orange Beach, Ala., Mrs. Robert (Pat) Penny and M. Clare Zimmer, both of Lafayette, Mrs. Edwin (Madeline) Antici of Blanchard, Mrs. Don (Margaret) Hickey of Dallas and Bernadette Z. Biscomb of Tyler, Texas ; one brother, Thomas Sitton; and one sister, Mrs. John (Elsie) Nelson, both of Lake Providence; daughters-in-law, Millie R. Zimmer of New Iberia, Michelle G. Zimmer of Atlanta and Connie A. Zimmer of Dallas; sister-in-law, Mildred Sitton of Lake Providence; 33 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; Charles, Christine and Laura Zimmer of New Iberia, Brendon Akers, Mrs. Robert (LeAnne) Daigle, Jennifer, Megan and Jordan Daigle and Hailey and Rory Deas, all of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ferrier Zimmer; her parents; one son, Charles Ferrier Zimmer Jr.; and two grandchildren, Charles Phillips and Michael Penny.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Zimmer's grandsons, Charlie Zimmer, Josh Zimmer, Robert "Buck" Phillips, Robert "Rusty" Penny, Steve Penny, Patrick Hickey, Michael Antici, Philip Antici, Tommy Biscomb, Chris Biscomb, Ben Biscomb, Jimmy Tate, Tim Tate and Brendon Akers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic High School Library or Endowment Fund, 1301 deLassalle Drive, New Iberia, La. 70560; Faith House, P.O. Box 93145, Lafayette, La. 70509; or Acadiana Youth Inc., P.O. Box 92078, Lafayette, La. 70509.
