George M. Mueller

SAYLER PARK, Ohio - Memorial services are pending for George M. Mueller, 69.

Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. at the Seifert-Hardig and Brater Funeral Home.

A former resident of New Iberia, Mr. Mueller died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Hospice of Cincinnati.

He was a U.S.Navy veteran and a retired hospital maintenance worker.

Mr. Mueller is survived by three sons, Don Mueller, Jerry Mueller and Dan Mueller; and one daughter, Paulette Deffinger; eight grandchildren, Paul, Guy and Toby Deffinger and Tara, Traci, Tim, Amy and Michael Mueller; one brother, Donald Mueller; and two sisters, Carol Owen and Helen Siemers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.

The Dennis George Funeral Services of Cleves, Ohio, is in charge of arrangements.

Oweda W. Coleman

JEANERETTE - Services for Oweda W. Coleman, 79, the former Oweda Wagner, will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Detig officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 8 a. m. Friday with a 10:30 am. rosary at the church.

A native of St. Mary Parish and resident of Jeanerette for 57 years, Mrs. Coleman died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

She was a housewife and a member of Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church where she was active in many organizations.

Mrs. Coleman is survived by her husband, Norman Coleman of Jeanerette; two sons, Levi Moss Jr. and Charles Coleman, both of Houston; three daughters, Annette Coleman Lewis and Druella Coleman Ward, both of Jeanerette and Enola Coleman of Washington , D.C.; two brothers, Herman Wagner of Jeanerette and Herbert James Wagner of Los Angeles; one sister, Bernice Coleman of Jeanerette; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Murray and Florence Wagner; her grandparents, Fredinand and Marie Legnon; one brother, Murray Wagner Jr.; and one grandson, Arthur Gray Jr.

Pallbearers will be Micheal Coleman, Curley Shannon Carter, Robert Moss, Ramon Moss, Ronald Moss and Reginald Wagner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Landon Ward, Willie Ward, Charles Coleman, Levi Moss Jr., Leon Lewis and Robert Wagner.

The Alex Lovett Funeral Services Inc. of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Sandias Eugene

JEANERETTE - Services for Sandias "Boo" Eugene, 35, will begin at 8 p.m. Friday at First Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-10 p.m. at the church, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday.

A native of Jeanerette, Mr. Eugene died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at University Medical Center in Lafayette, following a brief illness.

He is survived by his parents, Mary and Anthony C. Williams Sr. of Jeanerette; eight brothers, Whitney Eugene Jr. of Scott, Kelvin Eugene Sr., Creig Eugene Sr., Wayne Eugene Sr., Courtney Williams, Anthony Williams, Ray Reed and James Reed, all of Jeanerette; four sisters, Marva Rideaux, Tearsa Williams, Delphina Falls and Molly Falls, all of Jeanerette.

Mr. Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Falls; and one brother, Ronald Falls.

Pallbearers will be John Paul Londo, Shannon Clavrelle, Cleveland Jones, Jamall Rideaux, Lawless Hawk and Lorne Boutte.

Honorary pallbearers will be Whitney Eugene Jr., Kelvin Eugene Sr., Creig Eugene Sr., Wayne Eugene Sr., Anthony C. Williams Jr., Courtney Williams, Ray Reed and James Reed.

Jane B. Cambre

FRANKLIN - Services for Jane Black Cambre, 71, will begin at 2 p.m. today at Ibert"s Chapel.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A resident of Watson, Mrs. Cambre died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at her residence.

Ibert"s Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Anthony Laperouse

ST. MARTINVILLE - Memorial services for Anthony "Tony" Laperouse, 69, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church.

Mr. Laperouse died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at his residence.

He was an active sugar cane farmer until the time of his death, and a member of the board of directors of the St. Martin Sugar Co-op.

Mr. Laperouse is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marilyn Begnaud Laperouse; one son, Corey Jude Laperouse; one daughter, Toni Jude Laperouse Theriot; three grandchildren, Danielle 10, Haley Theriot 3, both of St. Martinville and Chelsea Laperouse 9, of St. Martin Parish; John and Jamie Talley of St. Martinville who were loved as grandchildren; four brothers, James Laperouse of New Iberia, Francis Laperouse and Kenneth Laperouse Sr. of St. Martinville and Expadie Laperouse Jr. of Lafayette; and four sisters, Rita L. Fuselier and Marie L. Hebert, both of St. Martinville, Vernice L. Derouen and Mildred L. Reed, both of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Boudreaux and Expadie Laperouse Sr.; one brother, Louis Laperouse; and one sister, Madeline Chemento.

Donations made be made to Hospice of Acadiana or St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church.

Melvin Stevens Jr.

JEANERETTE - Services for Melvin "Tot" Stevens Jr., 60, will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander officiating. interment will be in the Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Stevens died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at his residence following a brief illness.

He was a supervisor at Bayside Plantation and a member of St. Mark Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Mr. Stevens is survived by one grandson, Joshua Williams of Jeanerette; two granddaughters, Selena Williams and Sabrina Williams, both of Mississippi; and one sister, Phoebe Provost of Houston.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Selena Williams Stevens; his parents, Melvin and Bertha Stevens Sr.; four brothers, Lincoln Stevens, Daniel Stevens, Abraham Richard and Elvin Stevens; and four sisters, Louisiana Lewis, Priscilla Green, Clara Doffney and Dora Williams.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Williams, Anthony Lewis, Abraham Gilbert, Carl Richard, Edward Lewis and Michael Lewis.

Honorary pallbearers will be immediate friends and members of the family.

Emma B. Marcantel

ELTON - Services for Emma B. Marcantel, 79, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Elton with the Revs. Richard Bullock and J.Lee Minton officiating. interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-10 p.m. today at Ardoin's Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.

Mrs. Marcantel died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, in a Lafayette hospital.

She was married to the late Mayor Cursey L. Marcantel a veteran of World War II, of Elton. After her husband's death in 1959, Gov. Earl K. Long appointed her to serve the unexpired term of her husband. She has served as a member of the U.S. Army Nurses Corp. until the rank of second lietenant during World War II. Mrs. Marcantel has also served as commander in chief of her Legion Post No. 318. She retired as a Jeff Davis Parish Health supervisor in December 1978.

She is survived by three sons, Dr. Jonathan Marcantel of Houston, Jimmy Marcantel of Holmwood and Cursey L. Marcantel Jr. of Elton; two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn (Kay) Fogleman of Lafayette and Mrs. Jacquelyn (Jackie) Fernandez of New Iberia; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia H. Beldon of Little Rock and Mrs. Floy Johnson of Starks; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Marcantel was preceded in death by her husband, Cursey L. Marcantel Sr.; one son, Kenneth Ora Marcantel; and her parents, Frank Benning and Myrtis Booher.

Ardoin's Funeral Home Inc. of Elton is in charge of arrangements.

Lolita P. Lavergne

ST. MARTINVILLE - Services for Mrs. Ramie Lavergne, 79, the former Lolita Pitre, will begin at 12 p.m. Saturday at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. interment will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.

A resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Lavergne died at 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at a Lafayette hospital.

The Evangeline Funeral Homes Inc. of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
