Hazel R. Hebert

ST. MARTINVILLE - Graveside services for Hazel Romagosa Hebert, 77, will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Michael Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11-3 p.m. Sunday at Pellerin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hebert, daughter of Nelia (Mrs. Check) Martin and widow of Dr. Emery Jean Hebert, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, in El Cajon, Calif.

Born Aug. 3, 1920 in Cecilia, Mrs. Hebert lived in Lafayette before moving to El Cajon over eight years ago after her husband's death in 1987.

She worked in the administrative field for over 15 years helping her husband while he was acquiring his doctorate degree. According to her family, she was a very organized person. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and cooking and always had a project to keep her busy.

Mrs. Hebert is survived by her children, Philip D. Hebert and Gernel Williams of California; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-spirit, Lillian Fuselier.

The Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Bessard

JEANERETTE - Services for Joseph "Eagle" Bessard , 51, will begin at 11 am. Saturday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph E. Detig S.V.D. officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with a 10:30 a.m. rosary at the church.

A native and resident of Jeanerette for 46 years, Mr. Bessard died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, following a brief illness.

He is survived by his parents, Whitney Bessard and Lillian Richard; one brother, Earl Bessard; and four sisters, Deborah Anderson, Shirley Sparrow, Delores Sparrow and Georgia Davis.

Mr. Bessard was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Felix and Emily Perro; his step father, Milton Richardson; and one brother, Richard Richardson.

Pallbearers will be Shelby Davis, Micheal Anderson, Russell Anderson, Prentice Sparrow, Kalvin Sparrow and Steven Richardson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Bessard, Milton Senegal, Jeremy Davis, Kirk Sparrow, Keith Sparrow and Karl Sparrow.

The Alex Lovett Funeral Services Inc. of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Anna Washington

BROUSSARD - Services for Anna Washington , 84, the former Anna Leblanc, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Brandon Murphy officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the church, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday.

A lifelong resident of St. Martin Parish, Mrs. Washington died at 9:24 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at a Lafayette hospital following a lengthy illness.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary Court No. 115 for many years.

Mrs. Washington is survived by her husband, Horace Washington ; one son, Joseph H. Washington of St. Martinville; four daughters, Eula Washington , Theresa Washington , Rita M. Washington , all of St. Martinville and Mary Ann Charles of Lafayette; two brothers, Morris Leblanc Jr. of Lafayette and Wilbert LeBlanc of Iowa, La.; one sister, Lucille Thomas of St. Martinville; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Morris Leblanc Sr.; her mother, Edith Charles Leblanc; one brother, Willis Leblanc Sr.; and one sister, Stella Guillory.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Jones, Wilton Jones, Wilfred Jones, Tyrone Jones, Dalance Martin and Darnell Charles.

The Journet and Bolden Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Paul Green Sr.

ST. MARTINVILLE - Services for Donald Paul Green Sr., 63, will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. interment will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-10 p.m. today with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday.

A resident of St. Martinville, Mr. Green died at 2:25 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at a St. Martinville nursing home.

The Evangeline Funeral Homes Inc. of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.

Sylvest Monceaux

CROWLEY - Services for Sylvest "Bee" Monceaux, 80, were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church of Morse with the Rev. Donald Pousson officiating. interment was in the Hanks Cemetery.

A resident of Gueydan, Mr. Monceaux died at 5:14 a.m. Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Crowley American Legion Hospital.

The Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Gueydan was in charge of arrangements.

Paula R. Romero

ST. MARTINVILLE - Services for Mrs. Sidney Romero, 66, the former Paula Roy, will begin at 2 p.m Wednesday at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church with the Rev. Austin Leger officiating. interment will be in the St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.

Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of a St. Martinville, Mrs. Romero died Monday, March 9, 1998, at a Lafayette hospital.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald L. Romero of St. Martinville, Anthony D. Romero of Slaughter and James L. Romero of Parks; one daughter, Brenda Romero of St. Martinville; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Romero; her parents, Lucien and Ovelia Schexnayder Roy Sr.; three brothers, Maxie Roy Sr., Lloyd Roy and Lucien Roy Jr.; and two sisters, Willa Mae Roy Lebouef and Theresa Roy.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.

Marion Orrell Decker

Services for Marion Orrell Decker, 79, will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, at David Funeral Home with the Rev. David Lovejoy officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum in New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at David Funeral Home which will reopen at 8 a.m. Sunday until time of services.

A native of Hooker, Ok. and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Decker died at 11:50 p.m., Thursday February 12, 1998 at his residence.

He was retired from Ashland Oil & Chemical CO. after 27 years and a locomotive engineer with Santa Fe Railroad for 14 years in Kansas and Colorado.

Mr. Decker is survived by his wife, Wanda Decker of New Iberia; two sons, Larry Decker of Evergreen, CO and Robert L. Decker of Carthage, TX; his step-son, Richard Dry of Ward, AR; his daughter, Patricia Thibodeaux of New Iberia; his step-daughter, Anita Viator of New Iberia; four sisters, Mary Lou Alexander of West Minister, CA, Ruth Dale of West Minister, CA, Betty Hale of Satanta, KS and Lena Mae Davis of Satanta, KS; four brothers, Alva Decker of Santant, KS, Dale Decker of Hugoton, KS, Gene Decker of Albuquerque, NM and Lloyd Decker of Satanta, KS; six step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Adlai Decker; his mother, Mary Orrell Decker; one daughter, Mona Marie Decker; one son, Terry M. Decker; one grandson, Shad Paul Thibodeaux; and first wife, Pauline Blake Decker.

Pallbearers are Robert Decker Jr., Anthony "Tony" Thibodeaux, Michael Dry, Chad Robicheaux, Scotty LeBlanc .

Clinton Anthony Peltier

Services for Clinton Anthony Peltier, 40, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at David Funeral Home with the Rev. Reggie Ogea and Rev. Keith Derouen officiating. interment will be in the Memorial Park Cementary.

Visitation will be from 4 -10 p.m. Monday at David Funeral Home which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.

A native of New Iberia and resident of New Orleans, Mr. Peltier died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998 at his residence.

He was Hotel Manager at the Audobon Hotel. He attended Louisiana State University, the University of Southwestern Louisiana and lived in New Orleans since 1979. He began his career in the interior design industry, graduating to art galolery owner. He was a trendsetter combining live performance with art openings. X Art opened in 1987 followed by performance art nightclub house of Desire in 1989 and Snap! in 1990. Between 1989 and 1994 Peltier designed nightclub interiors with national nightclub company Entertainment centers of America. In 1996, Peltier began the rebirth of the Audubon Hotel on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans. All of his past experience s have come together in this project. He has always exhibited a pattern of promoting young visual and performing artist and DJ's in a selfless manner. He was single minded in his commitment to the arts in New Orleans.

He was active in: The Warehouse District Arts association, board member of Zeitgcist Experimental Theatre, the CAC and other arts organizations.

A bacchanal bash in his memory will be held at the Audubon Hotel on Sunday Feb. 22, 1998.

Peltier is survived by his former wife, Amy Wilson of New Orleans; his mother, Barbara Winfree Falterman of New Iberia; his grandmother, Rose B. Peltier of New Iberia; two sisters, Beth and Mindy Peltier both of New Iberia; his extended family of Peggy, John and Brendon Spradin; and the staff and tenants of the Audubon Hotel.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Peltier.

Pallbearers are Gary Early, Roy Pontiff, Chad Dubois, Louis Peltier, Walter Peltier and Patrick Pourciau.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
