Maxie Rankin
Services for Maxie Rankin, 57, will begin at 7 p.m. today at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Francis Davis officiating. interment will be in the St. Matthew Cemetery
at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday.
A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Rankin died at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He is survived by one sister, Cecile Rankin of New Iberia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Rankin was preceded in death by his parents, William Rankin Sr. and Lorenza Ursin Rankin; four brothers, William Rankin Jr., Dalton Rankin, Ernest Rankin and Andrew Rankin; and two sisters, Olivia Rankin and Maggie Rankin Reed.
Pallbearers will be members of the immediate family.

Freddie Conley
FREETOWN - Services for Freddie Conley, 79, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church No.1 with the Rev. Henry Maze officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
A resident of Franklin for many years, Mr. Conley died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Iberia Medical Center following a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife, Belva S. Conley of Franklin; one son, James Conley Sr. of Franklin; two sisters, Mary Edwards and Lucille Lewis, both of Houston; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Conley was preceded in death by his parents, Miller Conley Sr. and Ellen Conley; four brothers; three sisters; and three children.
Pallbearers will be members of the immediate family.

Myrta S. Christensen
FRANKLIN - Services for Myrta Lucille Skaggs Christensen, 75, will begin at 4 p.m. today at Ibert's Chapel with the Rev. Rowell officiating. interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A native of Chanderville, Ill., and resident of Franklin, Mrs. Christensen died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
She is survived by one daughter, Earline J. Christensen of Franklin; one brother, Walter L. Skaggs of Thibodaux; two sisters, Marie Skaggs Raymond of Kentwood and Frances Skaggs Battaglio of Franklin; three granddaughters, Ginger Kuhlman Boudreaux and Holly Kuhlman, both of Franklin, and Robin Kuhlman Compton of Charenton; and three great-grandchildren, Brandon Earl and Dyland Joseph Boudreaux and Erica Rae Compton.
Mrs. Christensen was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Woods on Christensen; her parents, Ryal C. Skaggs Sr. and Iva May Smith Skaggs; and one brother, Ryal C. Skaggs Jr.

Cleora G. Dugas
Services for Mrs. Paul D. Dugas, 76, the former Cleora Gaudet, will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at David Funeral Home Chapel with the Monsignor Herman Darsen officiating. interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday until the time of services.
A native of Lafayette and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Dugas died at 2:50 a.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at her residence.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Harmony in the Spirit Prayer Group, the Martha's and was a Eucharistic Minister.
Mrs. Dugas is survived by her husband, Paul D. Dugas of New Iberia; one son, David Paul Dugas of Lafayette; one daughter, Suzanne Whitaker of New Iberia; two brothers, Clifton J. "Cliff" Gaudet of Lafayette and D. Dale Gaudet of Baton Rouge; and one granddaughter, Ashley Anne Whitaker of New Iberia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lambert Paul Gaudet and Beulah Coussan Gaudet.
Pallbearers will be D. Dale Gaudet, Roy Armentor, Ed Broussard, Clifton Gaudet, Albert Mestayer and Joseph T. Meyers.

Deacon Robert A. Daspit Jr.
ST. MARTINVILLE - Services for Deacon Robert Andrew Daspit Jr., 69, will begin at 1 p.m. today at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeff DeBlanc officiating. interment will be in the Methodist Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Evangeline Funeral Home until the time of services.
A native of St. Martinville and resident of Natchitoches, Mr. Daspit died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, in Clarence.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a school teacher at Catahoula Elementary and St. Martinville Senior High. Mr. Daspit received his doctorate of biology and was a professor of biology at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches for more than 25 years. He was ordained a deacon in 1986 and served the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clarence for many years.
Mr. Daspit is survived by three brothers, Fred Daspit of Lafayette, Willard Daspit and Raymond Daspit, both of St. Martinville; one sister, Beranger D. Theriot of St. Martinville; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Andrew and Lezema Segura Daspit Sr.
Pallbearers will be Scott Daspit, Mitch Daspit, Stephen Daspit, William "Billy" Daspit, Keith Theriot and Steve Montgomery.

Ruth S. Doucet
FRANKLIN - Services for Ruth S. Doucet, 85, were held at 10 a.m. today at The Church of Assumption.
Mrs. Doucet died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998.

Carroll K. Smith
KIRBYVILLE, Texas - Services for Carroll Kay Smith, 59, will begin at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. interment will be in the Kirbyville Cemetery.
A native of Pitkin, a former longtime resident of New Iberia, a resident of Kirbyville for 14 years, Mr. Smith died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at his residence.
He was a retired oilfield supervisor.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Peggy Smith of Kirbyville; three sons, Tracy Spivey of Delcambre, Bobby Spivey and Wayne Spivey, both of Erath; two daughters, Theresa Dyck of Ocala, Fla. and Debra Gonzales of Scott; two sisters, Edith Klenk and Alva Franks, both of DeRidder; and 11 grandchildren.

Joyce D. Barrilleaux
Services for Mrs. Wilfred J. Barrilleaux, 71, the former Joyce Ann Dugas will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Simon officiating. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 4:30-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.
A native of Port Arthur, Texas , and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Barrilleaux died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Lafayette General Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Third Order of Carmelites.
Mrs. Barrilleaux is survived by her husband, Wilfred J. Barrilleaux of New Iberia; one son, Robert J. Barrilleaux of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Harry G. (Barbara) Landry Jr. of New Iberia and Mrs. Gerald J. (Ann) Viator of Breaux Bridge; one sister, Doris Dugas Labauve of Slidell; three grandsons, Brett Barrilleaux of Metairie, Craig Landry and Keith A. Viator, both of New Iberia; three granddaughters, Mrs. Tony (Dawn) Alleman of New Iberia, Jodi Barrilleaux of Metairie, and Laura Renee Viator of Breaux Bridge; one great-grandson, Chase Michael Viator of Breaux Bridge; and one great-granddaughter, Carley Morgan Landry of New Iberia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lodias J. and Veronica Fremin Dugas.
