The Rev. James Kirk Sr., 69, a native of Hamtramck, Mich., and resident of Thibodaux, died Saturday at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Methodist Church in Baldwin from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Trinity Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Thompson Kirk of Thibodaux; two sons, James N. Kirk Jr. of Pontiac, Mich., and Juan Kirk of Flushing, Mich.; two stepsons, Michael Manuel and Tommy Manuel, both of Thibodaux; two stepdaughters, Betty Hills of Lafayette and Janice Ellis of Baton Rouge; one brother, Dr. Bob Kirk of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Gwendolyn E. Jones of Antioch, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomas Ackman Sr. loved life and lived it with abundant passion. He found strength in knowing his life was not his own, but his life belonged to Jesus Christ, his Savior.
Mr. Thomas had a deep love for his family and poured his life, love and energies into that which he loved — especially his wife, children and his precious grandchildren.
Mr. Thomas was a quiet man with a big voice. In this wise man, his family would seek and find guidance, wise counsel and direction for their lives.
He was a kind-hearted man of many talents. His chosen profession was to be a Boat Captain, which was evident in his love for the outdoors. At a time in his life he was a Commercial Shrimper. Mr. Thomas will be sadly missed by all those who were made better by knowing this great man.
Mr. Thomas Ackman’s visitation will be observed today, Oct. 1, 2004, at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. His going home celebration will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hargrave chapel. He will be laid to rest in the Belle River Baptist Cemetery.
He is survived by his wonderful, loving wife, Noella Keller Ackman of Bayou L’Ourse; his sons, Terry Daigle of St. Martinville, Kerry Daigle of Morgan City, and Thomas Ackman Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Bayou L’Ourse; his daughters, Penny Dugas and her husband, George, of Ricohoc, Angelia Gilbert and her husband, Byron, of Birmingham, Ala., and Debra Hughes and her husband, Rodney, of Bayou L’Ourse; his brothers and sisters, Rita Ackman of Belle River, Ozelia Caro of Franklin, LeeDonna Atchley of Ricohoc, Rufus Ackman of Ricohoc, Laura Barbier of Belle River, Jerry Ackman of Ricohoc, Palma Dupuy of Ricohoc, Dianne Sauce of Ricohoc, Daniel Ackman of Pierre Part, Ulysse Ackman of Amelia, Barbara Ackman of Belle River, Dalton Ackman of Mississippi, Ben Ackman of Ricohoc and Wallace Ackman of Ricohoc. He also is survived by 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton Joseph Ackman and Gladys White Ackman; his brothers, David Ackman and Joseph Ackman; his sister, Jenny Ackman; his daughter, Lisa Ackman; his grandson, Curtis Batte Jr.; and his nephew, Troy Allen Ackman.
Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with Mr. Ackman’s arrangements.

Richard Gary Jones Jr.
1963-2004
Richard Gary “Big Richard” Jones Jr., 40, a native of Koln, Germany, and resident of Morgan City, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City. He was a Catholic by faith.
Standing a tall 6-feet, 8-inches, Big Richard was also a man with a big heart. He was an easygoing, gentle man that was very loving and protective of his friends. He was an oil field boat captain and loved the water and everything it had to offer. He loved to spend time on computers and had a passion as a ham radio operator. He loved life and the pleasures of life. He treasured the relationships he had with his many friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and by each life that he touched in his own special way.
He was the son of Richard Jones and Anneliese Stammel Jones of Long Beach, Calif.
He also is survived by two brothers, Norman Gene Jones of Cedar City, Utah, and Kevin Christopher Jones and his wife, Nichole, of Riverside, Calif.
Big Richard will be cremated and a memorial service in his honor is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at the Rathskeller bar in Morgan City.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Theresa Johnson Henry, 68, a native and resident of Patterson, died Thursday at 5 a.m. in Palmdale, Calif.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church in Patterson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Home Industrial Cemetery in Patterson.
She is survived by two sons, David Jackson -Irving of Palmdale, Calif., and Tyrone Jackson of Patterson; one brother, Wardell Johnson of Patterson; two sisters, Lucille Conley and Evelina Chapman, both of Patterson; one grandson and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Otis Mortuary in Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Gail Myers, 61, a Catholic by faith and a resident of Patterson, Passed away Oct. 7, 2004, in Morgan City.
She was born July 30, 1943, to the late Robert Baker Sr. and Mamie Lee Cumpiagne Baker of Kenedy, Texas .
Gail loved life and lived it with abundant passion. Mrs. Myers lived her life as though not her own by selfless giving of her time, talent and energies to her family and friends.
In this lady of wisdom, her family and friends would seek and find guidance and direction for their lives. Gail traveled the world over. Although she experienced many of this world’s delights, she found her greatest pleasure in spending time with those she loved.
Gail is survived by her loving husband, Leon Myers, of Patterson; her mother, Mamie Lee Cumpiagne Baker of Kenedy, Texas ; two daughters, Evelyn and son-in-law Pete Patterson of Lafayette and Debra and son-in-law Jay Payton of Richmond, Texas ; a sister, Bobbie Jean Lozano of Kenedy, Texas ; a granddaughter, Emilee Bonne of Lafayette; her Aunt Nita and Uncle Bob Newlin of Morgan City; a brother, Robert Earl Baker Jr.; her faithful canine companions Kodee and Dakota; and many loving nieces, nephews and long-time friends.
Religious services were held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, in Lafayette at The Church of the Covenant, commencing at 11:30 a.m.
Hargrave Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.

Aurelia Marie “Tugar” Richard Angeron, 90, a resident and native of Plaquemine, Passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, at Plaquemine Manor Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Herman E. “Blackie” “Brother”
Angeron Sr.; a daughter, Mary Ellen Angeron; two brothers, Paul “T-Luke” Richard and Ranlolph “T-Boy” Richard Sr.; two sisters, Julia Cambre and Helen Guidry; her parents, Charles Richard Sr. and Oneilda T. Richard; two sons-in-law, Andrew I. Morales Jr. and Lincoln Courtade Jr.; and one grandson, Andrew Morales III.
She is survived by her brother Charles Augustus “Benny” Richard Jr. of Plaquemine; sisters Myrtle Haydel of Plaquemine, Magdalen “Dee Dee” Allain of Port Allen and Edna Mae “Beanie” Doiron, of Port Allen; daughters and sons-in-law Gwen and Cary Fontenot of Baton Rouge, Gillie Courtade of Plaquemine, Donna “Mickey” Browning of Springs, Texas , Nancy and Max Taylor of Plaquemine and Jeri Elizabeth Angeron of Mandeville; her son and daughter-in-law Herman Jr. and Julia H. Angeron of Plaquemine; grandchildren Kodie Paul Morales, Stephanie Morales, Annette Angeron Easton, Pamela Angeron, Mark Angeron, Bridget Varnell Meinhardt, Gretchen Anne Varnell, Ryan Courtade, Donnie Hebert, Scott Courtade, Brandon Courtade, Alicia Browning, Melissa Browning, Travis Michael Taylor , Tate Nicholas Taylor and Tessa Christine Taylor ; and great grandchildren Derek Morales, Tarek Dalton Taylor , Lauren Morales, Kelsea Victoria Taylor , Jonnette Easton, Elyse Easton, P.D. Easton, Brooke Angeron Darzart, Destiny Angeron, Brooks Braud, Kayla Dupree, Dylan Paul Meinhardt, Derek James Meinhardt, Jeremy Courtade, Chase Courtade, Kacey Hebert, Lauren Hebert, Lacey Courtade, Landon Courtade, Blake Lincoln Courtade, Austin Courtade and Tomi Paige Taylor .
Her grandsons will act as pallbearers and her great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and from 8 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and will be conducted by the Rev. Cleo Milano.
Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.

Donald J. Verret Sr., 65, a native of Morgan City and resident of Galveston, Texas , joined our Heavenly Father to rest in peace, Oct. 4, 2004.
A wake will be held in Galveston, Texas , from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont, Galveston, Texas , with a Rosary to be held at 7 p.m. with Father Frank Fabj officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary to be held at 7 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City.
Visitation will continue Friday at 8 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City.
Funeral Mass at the church will begin at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, with Father Josh Rodrigue celebrant, at the church with entombment to follow at Morgan City Mausoleum.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Leona Verret; brother, Abby Verret Jr.; and nephew, Mark Verret.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Frederick Verret; his children and their spouses: Greg and Macie Verret of Dacula, Ga., Scott and Lydia Verret of Memphis, Tenn., Lea Verret and Greg Oubre of Patterson, Troy Verret, Jude and Kat Verret, Holly and Phillip Manuel, Donald Jr. and Kellye Verret, and Jamie and Joe Pasqua, all of Morgan City, Laura and Mark Duhon of San Marcos, Texas , and Bobby Latiolais of Galveston, Texas .
Also surviving their Paw-Paw are 17 grandchildren: Daniel, Justin, Eric, Julia, Hannah, Laura, Gregory, Tyler, Tanner, Tucker, Ryan, Chandler, Carter, Cheney, Taylor , Whitney and Wrenn.
He is also survived by three siblings and their spouses: Pat and Susan Verret of Jackson ville, Fla., Prissy and Marty Martin of Morgan City, and Kevin Verret of Amelia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to all who supported them through this difficult time.

Connie M. Meggs, 51, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Atlanta, died Sunday at 3 p.m. at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Raymond Catholic Church in New Orleans.
Funeral services will be held Friday at noon at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivier Cemetery in New Orleans.
She is survived by her mother, Peggy Cardriche Meggs of New Orleans; two brothers, Gregory Marshall Meggs of New Orleans and Kevin Christophe of Birmingham, Ala.; and two sisters, Judy Meggs of Atlanta and Erica Meggs of New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Raymond Catholic Church on Paris Avenue in New Orleans.
Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

Reginald “Reggie” or “Dutch” Bloemhard, 79, a native of Djakarta, Indonesia, and former resident of Morgan City, died Saturday, Sept. 25, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
Bloemhard, who served in the Marines, lived in Holland and worked in Germany before settling in Morgan City where he worked for Electrical Maintenance Systems, also lived in Lafayette where he worked for several oil field companies and had a part-time job at Evangeline Downs before retiring and moving to Florida.
Bloemhard is survived by his wife, Johanna, of Pensacola, Fla.; his daughter, Gina O’Dell, of Lafayette; a stepdaughter, Kathy Armstrong of Pensacola, Fla.; a stepson, Henk Van Zyp of Amsterdam, Holland; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fla.

Dorothy “Dee” Roberts
April 28, 1933 – Oct. 1, 2004
Dorothy “Dee” Marie Ackman Roberts, 71, a native of Amelia and resident of Pineville, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at St. Frances Cabrini in Alexandria. She was a member of The Pentecostals of Alexandria.
Dee was passionate about many things in life. Her love for her family and her relationship with Jesus Christ was among the highest of all that she held dear. She was a very strong-willed yet sensitive lady that always put others’ needs ahead of her own.
She exemplified the scripture that says, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” She poured her energies into loving people and doing whatever she had to do to make them smile and feel important.
Dee was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was the daughter of the late Ulice Ackman and the late Evelyn Gillery Ackman.
She is survived by her son, Steve Pritchett, and Joan Miller of Cedartown, Ga.; one daughter-in-law, Irma Dupre of Houma; six grandchildren, Tate Pritchett, Eric Roberts, Misty Pritchett, Satina Pritchett, Michelle Lambert and Joshua Rayner; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 13 years, the late Jimmie Roberts; two brothers, Daniel Ackman and Irvin Ackman; one grandson, Steve J. Pritchett Jr.; one granddaughter, Jamie Cook; and one great-grandson, Zachary Cook.
Graveside services will be at Morgan City Cemetery at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, with the Rev. Terry Bunner officiating. interment will be at the Morgan City Cemetery.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements.
