Jocelynn Raquel Smart, 23, a native of Zachary and resident of Morgan City, died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday at her residence in Morgan City.
Visitation and funeral services were held this morning at Triumph Baptist Church in Gibson. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She is survived by a devoted friend, Nigel Smith of Morgan City; her parents, mother and dad, Joyce and Warren Diggs of Morgan City; father, Henry Turner of Baker; uncles, Robert Rogers, Herman Davis, Ricky
Davis, Jeffrey Davis, Charles Diggs, Norman Diggs, Robert Diggs and Harold Diggs; aunts, Melissia Harris, Virginia Singleton, Carolyn Ross, Trudy Brothers, Jacquelyn Roach, Aggie Davis, Lela M. Hayes, and Marguerite Williams; a brother, Marvin Lee Smart Diggs; great-aunts, Gertrude Carter, Ethel Parker, Ruth Kleinpeter and Helen Langley; one godsister, Chawannia O’Conner; great-uncles, Jesse Rogers, Jesse Turner and Johnny Turner; and her grandmother, Pearl Wallace.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Richard Rogers; paternal grandparents Elsie and Norman Diggs Sr. and Beatrice and Edward Davis; and an uncle, Robert Davis.
She was a member of Triumph Baptist Church in Gibson and a senior at Nicholls State University where she was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
She considered sports a hobby.
Community Funeral Home in Houma was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret “Sis” Authement Rodrigue
3/14/44 — 12/19/04
Margaret “Sis” Authement Rodrigue, 60, a native of Gibson, died unexpectedly after surgery Dec. 19, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan “Spike” Rodrigue.
She is survived by her parents, Joseph “JY” Authement and Margaret “Mar Mae” McIntire Authement of Gibson; one brother, Chris Authement of Gibson; four sisters, Joni Broussard and her husband, Dan, of Gulfport, Miss., Carole Duval and her husband, Steve, of Gibson, Fay Kurkjy and her husband, Tom, of Lexington, Ky., and Anne Authement of Gibson; her companion, Leonard Naquin of Gibson; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and Nicholls State University. She was a retired school teacher in Terrebonne Parish.
Margaret was an example of love, kindness and generosity to all who knew her. Her selflessness was epitomized by her good deeds and lifelong commitment to serving others. Her presence in our lives was God’s blessing to us all.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma and will resume at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Chapel in Gibson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Chapel in Gibson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma.

George Henry Glennon Jr.
June 26, 1933 – Dec. 18, 2004
George Henry Glennon Jr., 71, a native of Orange, N.J., and resident of Berwick, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma. He was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Mary Parish AARP.
George was a very independent, strong-willed man that loved life and the pleasures of life. He loved movies, especially westerns. He loved the outdoors and spending time on the water.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was the son of the late George Glennon and the late Gladys Malier Glennon.
He is survived by his wife, Maebelle Glennon of Morgan City; one daughter, Sharyn Bouton of Berwick; two sons, John Glennon of Berwick and Jimmy Dupuy and his wife, Margaret, of Morgan City; one sister, Winnie McCrackin of Mount Airy, Ga.; two grandchildren, Justin Dupuy and Jamie Dupuy, both of Morgan City.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Josh Rodrigue officiating.
interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Patterson with full military honors given by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad in honor of their fallen comrade.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Alphonse “Al” Fitch Jr.
Funeral services for Alphonse “Al” Fitch Jr. were held today in the White Oaks chapel with the Rev. Wesley Fitch officiating. interment followed in the Resthaven Cemetery.
Alphonse, 18, of Bayou Vista, entered eternal life on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, in Bayou Vista. He was born May 24, 1986, in Lake Charles. He was serving in the United States Army with a PFC E3 ranking.
He was preceded in death by his “second mom,” Katherine Rachel Winn; paternal grandfather, Wesley Fitch; paternal grandmother, Daisy Fitch; and several great-grandparents.
He is survived by his wife-to-be as of Dec. 23, 2004, April Manuel of Berwick; his father, Alphonse Fitch Sr. of Buffalo, Texas ; his mother and stepfather, Monique Flores and Boone Flores of Bayou Vista; four sisters, Tammy Romero and her husband, Schaft, of Bayou Vista, Brittany Wayman of Port Arthur, Texas , Trisha Hendrix and her husband, Mark, and Rocket Flores, all of Conroe, Texas ; three brothers, Dustin Paul Fitch of Bayou Vista, Josh Flores of Conroe, Texas , and soon-to-be-delivered Wesley Fitch; maternal grandparents, Bill and Bertie Winn of Oakdale; paternal grandmother, Belle Fitch of LaRose; a grandfather, Pops, of Bayou Vista; five nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Arrangements were directed by White Oaks Funeral Home in Oakdale.

Shirley Aucoin Brinson, 69, born Oct. 9, 1935, a native of Morgan City and resident of Patterson, Passed away Dec. 16, 2004, at her residence.
Visitation was held Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City.
Religious services were held today at the funeral home. She was laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Tim Armond and his wife, Glinda, and Terry Armond and his wife, Joyce, all of Morgan City, and Mike Armond and his wife, Debbie, of Tunnelhill, Ga.; her daughters, Shawn Mallett and her husband, Kevin, of Lafayette, and Michelle Jackson and her husband, Buck, of Amelia; a brother, Roger Adams of Morgan City; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; one brother; and one son, Tony Armond.
Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City was in charge of arrangements.

Bernice Thibodeaux Bourgeois
June 6, 1917 – Dec. 17, 2004
Bernice Thibodeaux Bourgeois, a resident of Morgan City, born in Chackbay on June 6, 1917, Passed away Dec. 17, 2004, in Morgan City at the age of 87.
Visitation and funeral services were held today at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City with Father Bennie officiating.
Mrs. Bernice lived her life with a spirit of service. She was willing to and did help all those who asked. She was a lady of many talents. Her handiwork included sewing, needlework and quilting.
She is survived by her three sisters, Edmonse McElroy of Bayou Vista and Annie Lapeyrouse and Elise Vicknair, both of Morgan City; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City was in charge of arrangements.

John “Harvey” Percle
October 18, 1918 – December 20, 2004
John “Harvey” Percle, 86, a native of Belle River and a resident of Morgan City, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Morgan City Health Care Center in Morgan City.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He also was a member of the American Legion.
He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a former member of the St. Mary Parish AARP and the Cruisin’ Cajuns.
He retired as a purchasing agent from Seahorse after 35 years of service. Harvey loved life and loved the many things life had to offer. He was a great storyteller about the many things he had experienced in life. His children and grandchildren have many wonderful memories about his stories. Thanks for the memories, Grandpa.
He was a wonderful dancer and loved to cook meals for the family with special attention to corn soup and seafood gumbo.
He lived his life for his family and nothing brought a smile to his face or a twinkle to his eyes like his loving wife of more than 25 years, Elma Cortez Percle.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and each life that he touched in his own special way.
He was the son of the late John Philip Percle and the late Emma Landry Percle.
He is survived by his wife, Elma Cortez Percle of Morgan City; two daughters, Diana Aleman and her husband, Allen, of Stephensville, and GayDale Aucoin and her husband, Perry, of Stephensville; two sons, J.C. Cortez and his wife, Linda, of Morgan City, and Sidney Cortez and Wayne London of Morgan City; two sisters, Mary “Nanny” Robichaux of Morgan City and Ethel Jamieson of Detroit, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, Debra Foster of Bossier City, Janet Broussard of Prairieville, Paula Pisani of Houston, Wilbert “Butch” Stocker, Susan Billiot, Julie McCarty, Holly Barbier, Travis Aucoin, Cherie Aucoin and Eric Cortez, all of Morgan City; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers to serve will be J.C. Cortez, Joe Pisani, Jeffery Pisani, Dwight Barbier, Bill McCarty and Dennis Foster.
Honorary pallbearer will be his great-grandson, 2LT Mark St. Romain Jr., who currently is serving his country proudly in Iraq.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edna Percle and Gertrude Voisin; two brothers Charles Percle Sr. and Chester Percle; one godchild, Jay Percle; and one granddaughter, Carla Cortez.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to his niece, Isabelle Percle, for her love and care.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City.
Funeral service will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004. Full military honors will be conducted in front of Holy Cross Catholic Church by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
Mr. Percle will be cremated as per his wishes.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Holy Cross Parish food bank in his honor.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Jeffery Johnson Sr., 85, a native of Berwick and resident of Patterson, died Saturday at 1:25 a.m. at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church in Patterson.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Berwick Cemetery.
He is survived by five sons, Jeffery Johnson Jr. and Charles J. Johnson , both of Morgan City, Warner Johnson of Berwick, Lawrence J. Johnson of Patterson and Horace J. Johnson of Lafayette; five daughters, Maggie D. Milton of Loreauville, Geraldine Griffin and Linda Strawder, both of Berwick, and Debra Ann Johnson and Mary Nell Johnson -Allen, both of Patterson; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two wives, his parents, grandparents, eight brothers, two sisters, two sons and one daughter.
Otis Mortuary in Franklin is in charge of arrangements.
