Raymond “Daigo” Bailey
November 18, 1929 - December 19, 2004
Raymond John “Daigo” Bailey, 75, of Amelia died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, in Amelia.
He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
Daigo loved life and the pleasures of life. He loved the water, which was reflective of his 43 years working on boats as a merchant marine.
He loved to work. Daigo worked for the St. Mary Parish School Board as the custodian at Aucoin Elementary School in Amelia, where he was appreciated and respected by his peers and loved by the students.
He, along with his wife, owned and operated Lilly’s Feed Store in Amelia. He was a man that was willing to help those in need and would run to your aid if he thought he could help you. His heart was moved with compassion toward the elderly and the sick, and would do whatever it took to help them.
Daigo loved to raise animals, particularly the rabbits that he would take to shows. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and each life that he touched in his own special way.
He was the son of the late Edward Bailey and the late Lionelle Gros Bailey.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 51 years, Lilly Mae Bailey of Amelia; two sons, Steve Bailey and his wife, Julie, of Amelia and Doyle Bailey Sr. and his wife, Shirley, of Livingston; three sisters, Lucille Gros of Labadieville, Edmae Bergeron of Thibodaux and Doris Aucoin of Morgan City; two brothers, Leroy Bailey of Morgan City and Lionel Bailey of Pineville; four grandchildren, Sadie Aucoin and her husband, Timothy, of Amelia, Tobie Bailey of Amelia, Doyle Bailey Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Livingston and Payton Bailey of Amelia; three great-grandchildren, Paige Garrett, Madison Aucoin and Dylan Bailey; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be Steve Bailey, Doyle Bailey Sr., Doyle Bailey Jr., Timothy Aucoin, Timmy Aucoin and Tobie Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Edward Bailey Jr., Wilbert Bailey, Weldon Bailey and Herman Bailey Sr.; and one sister Eunice Eues.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia.
Funeral services will be at St. Andrew Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, with the Rev. Greg Fratt officiating. interment will be at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery in Amelia.
Twin City Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements

Claude Stanley “Jack” Bailey, 75, a native of Wisner and resident of Bayou Vista since 1960, died Dec. 20, 2004, at 10:32 p.m. at his residence in Bayou Vista.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Ibert’s Mortuary today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Patterson. Visitation will resume Thursday morning at Ibert’s Mortuary from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
A funeral service will begin Thursday at Ibert’s at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Lee Lamury officiating. interment will follow in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery in Patterson.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Gladys Angeron Bailey of Bayou Vista; four sons, Jimmy D. Bailey of Marion, Kan., Paul A. Foret Jr. and his wife, Lynn, of Lafitte, Kenneth J. Foret of New York, N.Y., and Raymond C. Foret and his wife, Mary, of Bayou Vista; four sisters, Sherry B. Clayton of Vidalia, Teresa B. Schroeder and her husband, Dale, of Deltona, Fla., Roxanne Foret Freeman of Natchitoches and Jacquelyn B. Schopeck and her husband, Les, of Charlotte, N.C.; four sisters, Gene B. Hammons and Evelyn B. Montgomery, both of Wisner, Ina B. Kenney of Monroe and Jeanette B. Glass of Omega, Ga.; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his father, Johnny “J.O.” Bailey; his mother, Julia “Louise” Mason Bailey; three brothers, Samuel Mathew Bailey, John Dewitt Bailey and Bruce “Speck” Bailey; two sisters, Bessie Mae Bailey and Ruby Louise B. Bingham; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bailey served in the Navy during World War II and also in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson.

Reginald “Reggie” Lee Walker
On Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, a memorial celebration will be held for Reginald “Reggie” Lee Walker at Twin City Gospel Temple in Berwick. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Charley Driskill and Sister “Toot” Driskill, commencing at 3:30 p.m.

Louis Topham Jr.
July 20, 1948 – Dec. 22, 2004
Louis Topham Jr., born in Morgan City on July 20, 1948, to Louis Topham Sr. and the late Agnes “LeeLee” Giroir Topham, Passed away Dec. 22, 2004, in Morgan City at the age of 56.
Mr. Topham was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman and spent many days at his brother’s camp.
He was a man of many talents and careers; he was a dispatcher for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department, and worked for many boat companies in his lifetime. Louis handcrafted filet knives and hunting knives for his family and friends.
He is survived by his father, Louis Topham Sr. of Morgan City; his sons, Lenny Topham of Morgan City, and Louis Topham Jr., Stephen Topham, Matthew Topham and Christopher Topham, all of Florida; his daughter, Michelle Topham of Florida; his sisters, June Topham of Morgan City, and Viola “Pinky” Daigle and her husband, Larry, of Bayou Vista; his brothers, Willie Topham and his wife, Priscilla, of Bayou Vista, and Russelle Topham of Morgan City.
He is preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Topham.
Visitation was observed this morning at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Funeral services were conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 a.m.

Eveline Sons, 84, a resident of Berwick, Passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation resumed today from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with a dismissal.
Funeral services were conducted at the First United Methodist Church in Berwick at 2 p.m. today. interment followed in the Berwick Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Breaux and Brenda Billiot, both of Berwick; her sisters, Anna Lee Dinger and Virgie Lodrigue, both of Berwick; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Written and Melvina Tabor Written; four brothers; and two sisters.

Agnes “LuLu” Marie LeBlanc Solar
January 13, 1919 — December 26, 2004
Agnes “LuLu” Marie LeBlanc Solar, 85, a native of Napoleonville and resident of Morgan City, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City. She was a longtime faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City.
LuLu always will be remembered as a kind, gentle and quiet lady who was extremely loyal to her family and friends.
She lived her life as an example and testimony of her Christian faith, never saying an unkind word about anyone. She had a strong faith in God and raised her family in a manner that her love for God lives on in them.
She had a special bond and love for her husband of over 54 years, Noah Solar. After only seven years of marriage, Noah lost his eyesight due to a medical condition. This did not affect their love for each other. LuLu became his eyes and together they would enjoy walks together, gardening and other special times.
She was a lady who was always concerned for others, giving special attention to her children’s happiness, health and well being.
She paid great attention to detail and was very specific in record keeping and archiving family history.
LuLu was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that she touched in her own special way.
She was the daughter of the late Nelson LeBlanc and the late Margueritte Martin LeBlanc .
She is survived by her husband, Noah Solar of Morgan City; one daughter, Joyce Frederic and her husband, Robert A., of Slidell; two sons, Gerald J. Solar and his wife, Gayle B., of Metairie and Roy J. Daigle and his wife, Kathi, of Mobile, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Kenneth Daigle, Daniel Daigle, Ronald Daigle, Jonathan Daigle, Patricia Lee Solar, Michelle Solar, Michael A. Frederic and Vince Frederic; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Martin; a son, Louis J. Daigle; and two great-grandchildren, Brooke Daigle and Jay Daigle.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City, with a rosary to be said at 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church with Father Josh Rodrigue officiating. interment will be in the Morgan City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church in her honor.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Ms. LuLu’s special care givers, Lynn Rosson, Bessie Smith and Sonny and Inez McAdams; the wonderful and caring staff of the sixth floor at Teche Regional Medical Center; Ms. Yvonne Mouton of Hospice; and Doctors Bass and Daniels.

Lucius Peter Romero Sr.
Aug. 16, 1948 — Dec. 22, 2004
Lucius Peter Romero Sr., 56, a native and resident of Morgan City, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City.
Lucius always will be remembered as a kindhearted gentleman who was always happy and giving and loved life and the pleasures of life.
He loved the water, which was reflective of his lifelong work as a commercial fisherman. He sewed nets, built fiberglass boxes and built boats. Above all that he loved in life, nothing compared to the love he had for his family.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and each life that he touched in his own special way.
He was the son of the late Samuel Romero and the late Marjorie Hebert Verrett.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah “Debbie” Romero of Morgan City; two sons, Shawn Michael Stansbury and his wife, Ashley, of Morgan City, and Lucius P. Romero Jr. and his companion, Holly Charpentier, of Morgan City; three grandchildren, Brittany Lynn Stansbury of Mobile, Ala., and Raven Michelle Stansbury and Chastity Gail Stansbury, both of Morgan City.
He is also survived by a sister, Sandra Duffy, and her husband, Ronald, of Morgan City; two brothers, Samuel “Sam” Romero and his wife, Essie, of Morgan City and Daniel J. Romero of New Orleans; one godchild, Shawn Duffy and his wife, Tammy; one special niece, Brandy Stansbury of Morgan City; one special nephew, Robert Stansbury of Morgan City; and two great-nieces, Kila and Ally of Morgan City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie Verrett and Gilbert Verrett; his father, Samuel Romero and his wife, Inez; and one grandson, Alexander Micheal Stansbury.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City.
Funeral services will be at Twin City Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, with Father Benny officiating. interment will be in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Clara Mae Blanchard, 79, a resident of Amelia, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Percy Bergeron and Evelyn Estave Bergeron, born in Houma, April 8, 1925.
She is survived by her sons, Russell J. Blanchard Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Lacombe, Larry Blanchard and his wife, Susan, of Houma, and Lonnie Blanchard and his wife, Susan, of Berwick; her daughter, Gail Rogers and her husband, Buddy, of Berwick; and her sister, Flavia Cutrera of Lafayette. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell J. Blanchard Sr.; her brother, Percy Bergeron Jr.; and her sister, Geraldine LaSalle.
Funeral services were held at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia at 11 a.m. today.
Entombment followed in the St. Andrew Mausoleum.
