Bessie M. Zeyzus, 80, of Columbus, Pa., died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, in Corry Manor nursing home.
Mrs. Zeyzus was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Morgan City, a daughter of the late John and Emily Price Gorsha.
She was raised and educated in Morgan City. She moved to Toledo, Ohio, in 1946 and lived there until she moved to Columbus, Pa., in 1958. Mrs. Zeyzus was a machine operator at Associated Spring-Barnes Group Inc. and a member of the UAW. She retired in 1986, following 23 years of service with the company.
Mrs. Zeyzus was a member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church.
Mrs. Zeyzus was a volunteer at the Soldiers and Sailors Home and the VA Medical Center, both in Erie, Pa.
She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Mrs. Zeyzus was very active in the local Democratic Party and in politics.
Mrs. Zeyzus enjoyed yard work, and flower and vegetable gardening. She also enjoyed cooking for family and friends, reading mysteries and listening to music. Mrs. Zeyzus made beautiful artificial floral arrangements and holiday decorations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore T. Zeyzus, on Aug. 4, 1999. They were married April 25, 1942, in Morgan City.
Also preceding her in death was a son-in-law, Leslie E. Munson; four sisters, Geneva Carpenter, Thelma Mula, El Dora Simmons and Jeannette Gorsha; and two brothers, John and Denver Gorsha.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Z. Munson of Lakewood, N.Y., and Regina M. Zeyzus of Columbus, Pa.; a sister, Amy Robicheaux and her husband, Merwin, of Bayou Vista; two brothers, Newton Gorsha and his wife, Phyllis, of Alexandria, and Russell Gorsha and his wife, Barbara, of Swanton, Ohio. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center Street, Corry, Pa., on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A scripture service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. A prayer service will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church at noon. The Rev. Thomas E. Brown will officiate the service.
Burial will be in Clymer Center Cemetery, Clymer, N.Y.

Mrs. Josephine Ann Messina Vinson
Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Ann Messina Vinson will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Father Dan O’Connor officiating. Burial will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
Mrs. Vinson, 79, a resident of Iowa, and a former resident of Patterson, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 in Lake Charles, after a long illness.
She was a long-time employee of The Daily Review in Morgan City. She wrote a weekly column entitled “Chit-Chat.”
She did volunteer work with the St. Mary Guest Home and was a former member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson where she served on the Ladies Altar Society. She was also a former member of the Ladies Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Association.
She was also a former winner of the Morgan City/Berwick Business & Professional Women’s Club Citizen of the Month Award. Mrs. Vinson did many charitable works helping with cancer drives and collecting food for the needy. Her hobbies and interests included meeting new people and making them laugh, cooking unusual dishes, reading, working with flowers and plants, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her father, the late Joseph Messina; her mother, Mary Sarchea Messina; and four brothers, Joe, Sam, Jack and S.J. Messina.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dallas L. Vinson of Iowa; two daughters, Mary Ann Mendoza and Cathy Ledyard and her husband, Tim, of Lake Charles; three sons, Rufus and Mike Vinson of Iowa, and Joe Vinson and his wife, Holly, of Bayou Vista; brothers, Tanner Messina of Alexandria, Nick Messina of Baton Rouge, and Frank Messina of Alexandria; sisters, Virginia Messina of Alexandria, Mary Rose Manchia of New Orleans, and Sadie Marino of Bishop, Calif.; grandchildren, Catherine JoAnn Ledyard Hollis, T. Danielle Vinson, Monica Beth Ledyard, Wesley Vinson, Brad Vinson, Annalisa Vinson, Ashley Vinson, Alicia Vinson and Joey Vinson; and great-grandchildren, Austin Hollis, Erica Hollis, Josephine Gourgues and Brennyn Ursery.
A wake service will be held today at 7:30 p.m. at Hixson Brothers in Alexandria.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hixson Brothers in Alexandria.

Dorothy Jean “Jeanne” Neale
Dorothy Jean “Jeanne” Neale of Austin, Texas , departed this life on Dec. 26, 2004.
Jeanne was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Luling, Texas , the younger of two daughters of George and Bertha Mehner. Her sister Maureen “Mimi” Wootters preceded her in death.
Jeanne was a 1944 graduate of Luling High School and a 1948 graduate of University of Texas with a B.S. in Zoology (pre-med). Jeanne was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and remained active with her alumnae chapter in recent years. She was a member of UT’s synchronized swimming team.
On June 25, 1948, Jeanne married Jack Clifford Neale of San Diego and they were married for 50 years until Jack’s death in July 1998. Jack and Jeanne are survived by their three children and their spouses, Margaret Ann Neale and Alfred Carl Lindahl, of Palo Alto, Calif., George Clifford and Elizabeth Ann Neale, of Austin, Texas , and Mary Jane Neale and Keith Miller Etzel, of Houston; and four grandchildren, Caroline Marie Neale and Hunter Jackson Neale, of Austin, Texas , and Elizabeth Elise Etzel and Kristin Margaret Etzel of Houston.
During her married life Jeanne lived in many places including Morgan City, Brownfield, Texas , Singapore and Oklahoma City before retiring in Austin, Texas . She taught high school sciences in Morgan City and worked as a real estate broker in Oklahoma City.
Jeanne was an avid duplicate bridge player since college. She enjoyed gardening and travel, taking extensive trips in recent years. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Austin, Texas , active there with the Altar Guild and various fellowship groups.
Further, with Jack’s service as an officer in the Navy, Jeanne was active with the Retired Military Officer’s Association. She enthusiastically participated in the UT LAMP program Learning Activities for Mature People.
Jeanne is loved and will be truly missed by all her family and many friends. A memorial service celebrating Jeanne’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 8134 Mesa Drive, Austin, Texas , 78759 with the church open at 10 a.m. for visitation with her family.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her name to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

Troydrick Jenkins, 11, a native and resident of Franklin, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at his residence.
He was a student at LaGrange Elementary School in Franklin.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin from noon to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday. interment will be in the Franklin Main Cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Patricia Davis and Troy Jenkins, both of Franklin; one brother, Travon Jenkins of Franklin; one sister, Courtland Randle of Baldwin; maternal grandparents, Eula Williams of Franklin and Will Davis Jr. of Beaumont, Texas ; and paternal grandparents, Larmen and Portia Jenkins, both of Franklin.
Jones Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Bobby E. Brown, 81, a resident of Bentonia, Miss., died Saturday of heart failure at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, Miss.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired machinist for McDermott Industries.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City, Miss.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Short Creek Cemetery in Yazoo County, Miss.
He is survived by his wife, Frances H. Brown of Bentonia, Miss.; two daughters, Barbara Dinger of Baton Rouge and Janice Hebert of Brookhaven, Miss.; two sons, Guy Walters of Patterson and W.L. Walters of Winterhaven, Fla.; two stepsons, Frank Hilderbrand and Ray Hilderbrand, both of Bentonia, Miss.; one stepdaughter, Stephanie Cotten of Yazoo City, Miss.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, a daughter and a granddaughter.
Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City, Miss., is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Laura LeJeune, a native and longtime resident of Morgan City, Passed away Dec. 28, 2004, at Lafayette General Medical Center with her beloved husband by her side.
She was born to the late Ernest Besse and Julia Fryou Besse on Jan. 22, 1925. She had lived her 79 years full to its extent. She had many friends everywhere she went, including her friends at Hargrave Funeral Home and at the Courthouse where she had gone every Thursday when she had the time.
She always would ask people if she could lend a hand to help out, whenever she thought someone needed it.
Mrs. Laura and her husband, along with other couples of the CFMA Association, would get invited to dance exhibitions at the schools and teach Cajun dancing to all the children and also would get invited to dance exhibitions for tourist barges that would come through Morgan City.
Mrs. Laura is survived by her loving husband of 54 wonderful years, Houston LeJeune of Morgan City, and her brother, Ernest “E.J” Joseph Besse of Crestview, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
A time of remembrance and reflection will be observed at Hargrave Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Visitation will resume Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Religious services will be conducted at Hargrave Funeral Home at 2 p.m. and will be officiated by Father Benny from Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Billy Joe Brockwell, 71, a native of Limestone Tenn., and resident of Gibson, died Tuesday at 9:10 a.m.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He belonged to the Morgan City chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a retired painter.
He is survived by a son, David Brockwell and his wife, Donna, of Gibson; three daughters, Judy Roberts of Thibodaux, Kathy Brockwell of Houma and Paula Brockwell of Amelia; a brother, Taylor Brockwell of Greenville, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home.
Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma has been entrusted with arrangements.

Armand Boudreaux, 79, died Dec. 7, 2004, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He was a native of Berwick.
Mr. Boudreaux worked in the seafood industry for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth King Boudreaux; his parents, Ashley and Pearl Boudreaux; and his brothers, Stanley Boudreaux and Charles Boudreaux.
He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Farmer, Pamela Cornell and Anita Gillespie; his brothers, Louis Boudreaux and Bob Boudreaux; and his sisters Mickey Green and Elaine Galjour.
Mr. Boudreaux was laid to rest in Foley, Ala.

Eula Alexander, 58, a native and resident of Glencoe, died Tuesday at 5:20 p.m. at her residence.
Visitation will be at St. Peter United Methodist Church in Jeanerette from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday.
Funeral services will be held at the church at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, King Alexander of Glencoe; one son, Cedric Chanette of Dallas; three daughters, Delphine Fant of Jackson ville, Fla., and Debra Jolivette and Sandra Williams, both of Glencoe; one sister, Juanita Jackson of Glencoe; and five grandchildren.
Jones Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of arrangements.
