Edmond John “Eddie” Kelly
Oct. 26, 1949 – Dec. 30, 2004
Edmond John “Eddie” Kelly, 55, a native of South Bend, Ind., and resident of Berwick, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at his residence in Berwick. He was a Catholic by Faith. He served his country proudly in the United States Army.
Eddie was a kind and gentle man that was always willing to help anyone who needed him and would go out of his way to help.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and play practical jokes on his friends and family. He was a man that was very quiet in his conversation until he got to know you, and then his wonderful personality would come shining through.
Eddie loved life and the many joys that life had to offer. He loved to go fishing, shrimping, crabbing and taking part in “Cajun water sports.” He loved animals and had a unique bond with his beloved German shepherd, “Deuce.”
He was a beloved son, brother and friend to many and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was the son of the late William Kelly and the late Dorcas Liffick Kelly.
He is survived by three sisters, Peggy M. French and her husband, Henry, of Deer Park, Texas , Theresa Conrad and her husband, Thomas, of Austin, Texas , and Suzi Krell and her husband, Dr. Blair, of Lake Jackson , Texas ; two brothers, Thomas Kelly of Santa Fe, Texas , and Robert Kelly and his wife, Diane, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sara E. Kerkman.
The family received friends from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Twin City Funeral Home. Funeral services were held in the Twin City Funeral Home chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, with the Rev. Terry Bunner officiating.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to his many friends and neighbors that meant so much to Eddie.

Rose Mary Boudreaux Giordano
Nov. 23, 1936 – Dec. 30, 2004
Rose Mary Boudreaux Giordano, 68, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
“Gracious” is the word that best describes the life of this dear lady. Her ability to make you feel welcome and special was second to none. Her primary objective in life was to make her house a home for her family. She accepted people as they were, never trying to change them, but love them and never be judgmental to them.
She had tremendous people skills and would go out of her way to help those that needed her and take time for them.
Rose Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to bring a smile to your face every chance she got.
She had a strong faith and belief in God. She loved to collect knick-knacks and cook, with her specialty being “200 meatball spaghetti.”
She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was the daughter of Adolph Verdin and Adeline Billiot Verdin.
She is also survived by two daughters, Angela Duval and her husband, Charles, of Morgan City, and Billie Giordano of Ely, Nev.; two sons, John Giordano and Anthony Giordano, both of Morgan City; two sisters, Gayle Verdin of Franklin, and Brenda Besse and her husband, Larry, of Morgan City; four brothers, Ronald Verdin and his wife, Shirley, of Bayou L’Ourse; Rip Verdin and his wife, Cheryl, and Noel Verdin and his wife, Deidra, all of Patterson, and Adolph Verdin Jr. and his wife, Myrtle, of Morgan City; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Gared and his wife Kristan, Charles Jr. and his wife Ashley, Wendy, Melanie, Ricky, Danielle, Jackie, Brandon, Brooke, Brent and Brittany; 15 great-grandchildren; and a dear friend and companion, John Baudoin.
Pallbearers to serve will be John Giordano, Anthony Giordano, Brent Giordano, Ricky Duval, Gared Stevens and Charles Duval Jr.
The family received friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. today, Jan. 3, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial was held at Sacred Heart at 11 a.m. today, with Father Benny officiating. interment was at the Morgan City Cemetery.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City was entrusted with the arrangements.

Alzina Charles, 62, a native of Maurice and resident of Morgan City, died Wednesday at 8 a.m. at Morgan City Health Care Center.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Morgan City Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Sammy Charles of Morgan City; two daughters, Sondra A. Charles of Atlanta and Mary Caullette of Morgan City; three brothers, Edward Guidry and Mervin Guidry, both of California, and Nolan Guidry of Lafayette; four sisters, Selena Morgan of Lafayette, Anita Celestine of Riverside, Calif., Christine Barber of Albany, N.Y., and Alberta Whitehead of Carencro; and four grandchildren.
Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of the arrangements.

Grayce “Arnette” Brown, 68, a native of Washington , D.C., and a resident of Amarillo, Texas , since 1955, died Sunday, Dec. 26, in Lake Tanglewood, Texas .
Memorial services were held Tuesday at Lake Tanglewood Community Church in Texas .
Survivors include her husband, Irl Brown; two sons, Webb Brown of Amarillo, Texas , and Matthew Brown of Richardson, Texas ; three daughters, Sharon Brady of Claude, Texas , Melinda Davis of Tulsa, Okla., and Helene Garst of Plains, Kan.; a sister, Arlene Frost of Morgan City; and six grandchildren.
Cox Funeral Home in Texas was in charge of arrangements.

Jeanne Guillory Barrilleaux
June 17, 1938 – Dec. 31, 2004
Jeanne Barrilleaux, 66, a resident of Bayou Vista, Passed away Friday, Dec. 31, at 10:25 p.m. at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 2, at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City, and resumed this morning. Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. interment was in the Morgan City Cemetery.
Jeanne was a faithful member of Bayou L’Ourse Baptist Church. Mrs. Barrilleaux loved life and all that it had to offer.
She was an accomplished guitarist and enjoyed countless evenings dancing with her husband.
Jeanne spent many afternoons enjoying the pleasure of the outdoors riding her bicycle. She also was an avid bowler.
Mrs. Barrilleaux was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved this wonderful woman.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of 48 years, Hilton Barrilleaux; five sisters, Myrtle Boudreaux and her husband, Floyd, of Bayou L’Ourse, Louise Fontenot and her husband, Willie, of Patterson, Anna Belle Chaisson and her husband, Gerald, of Bayou Vista, Evelyn Olivier and her husband, Aubrey, of Pierre Part, and Rose Freeman and her late husband, John “Happy” Freeman, of Morgan City; three brothers, Jerry Guillory of Amelia, Joe Donald Guillory of Lafayette and Robert Guillory and his wife, Brenda, of Morgan City; three children, Rosalind Meranta and her husband, Dante, of Bayou Vista, Rhonda Harp and her husband, Bobby, of Oklahoma and Randy Barrilleaux of Bayou Vista; six grandchildren, Tracy Crappell and her husband, Wade, of Morgan City, David Kullman of Baton Rouge, Timothy Kullman of Baton Rouge, Josh Meranta of Morgan City, Christopher Harp of Oklahoma and Brady Barrilleaux of Lafayette; and three great-grandchildren, Wade Crappell III, Hallie Elizabeth Crappell and Timothy Kullman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Florence Guillory; and two brothers, Bernie Guillory and Lloyd Guillory.
Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Rolland Valliere, 64, a native of Quebec, Canada, and resident of Sumrall, Miss., died Monday at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss.
He was a deacon for 34 years and had been employed as a welder.
Visitation today will be from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at West Black Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the West Black Creek Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Valliere of Hattiesburg, Miss.; three sons, Allen Valliere and Michael Valliere, both of Hattiesburg, Miss., and David Valliere of Quebec, Canada; one daughter, Angela Martin of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Jones and Son Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, Miss., is in charge of the arrangements.

Chet Chester Leger
Born July 2, 1958
Called to be with his Heavenly Father Jan. 4, 2005
Chet Chester Leger, 46, a native and resident of Morgan City, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at his residence in Morgan City. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
“Big in size but gentle in heart,” is the description given to this good man. Chet was a man of no unspoken words that loved life and the pleasures of life. He was down to earth and loved to joke and cut up with his friends and family.
Chet loved the outdoors and especially the times he would spend fishing. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and each life that he touched in his own special way.
He was the son of Chester Leger and the late Theresa Fryou Stoute.
He is survived by his loving wife of over nine years, Connie F. Leger of Morgan City; a stepdaughter, Jessica Hatcher and her husband, Herbert, of Patterson; three sisters, Paula Denison and her husband, Dino, of Meridian, Miss., Melissa Blanco and her husband, Ronald Jr., and Christine Stoute, all of Morgan City; a sister-in-law, Brenda Bailey of Morgan City; and one grandchild, Robert James Hatcher of Patterson.
Pallbearers to serve will be Jason Bailey, Roy Fryou Sr., Roy Fryou Jr., Ronald Blanco Jr., Tommy Scully, Herbert Hatcher, Adam Bailey and Cleveland Fryou.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Jan. 5, 2005, at Twin City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at Twin City Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, with Brother Larry Jones officiating. interment will be at the Morgan City Cemetery.

Lawrence “Boug” Joseph Hebert, 87, Passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at The Oaks of Houma Nursing Home. He was born Sept. 5, 1918, in Brusly-St. Martin to Andre Hebert and Odille Lopez Hebert.
He is survived by his son, Freddy Hebert of Belle Rose; his daughter, Betty Hebert of Maryland; his sisters, Marie Vaccaro of Zachary, Beatrice “Bea” Kerek of Albany and Geraldine “J” Coupel of Belle Rose; his brother, Darnell Albarado of Maryland; his grandson, Kirt Hebert of Idaho; his granddaughter, Darlene Albarado of Maryland; and four great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by his stepchildren, Eugene Jay Verrett of Beaux Bridge, Earl Peter Verrett of Lafayette, Glen John Verrett of Houma and Barbara Verrett of Morgan City; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andre and Odille Hebert; his grandson, Kevin Paul Hebert; seven sisters; one brother; his wife, Eunice Billiot Hebert; and his stepson, Jerry Verrett.
Visitation was observed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. interment followed in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Irene Marie Broussard, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at her residence. She was a native of Belle River, born Nov. 19, 1915, and was a resident of Morgan City.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. today in the Morgan City Cemetery. Father Benny was the officiating priest.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Broussard; her daughter, Lana Arcemont and her husband, Alvin, of Morgan City; her brother, Curtis Carpenter of Petal, Miss.; her grandchildren, Kelly Arcemont Cates and Sherry Arcemont, both of Lafayette; and her great-grandchild, Katie Cates of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Dudley Carpenter, Edna Carpenter Cortez, O’Neil Carpenter, Clinton Carpenter, Alex Carpenter, Rosa Carpenter Gilmore and Beulah Carpenter Breaux; and her parents, Theophile Carpenter and Camile Vaughn Carpenter.
Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City was entrusted with the arrangements.
