Eula Hatch
Nov. 6, 1917 – Jan. 14, 2005
Eula Hatch, born Nov. 6, 1917, in Houma, Passed away Jan. 14, 2005, in Patterson at the age of 87.
Mrs. Hatch was a faithful member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses of Patterson, where she devoted many days to the service of her God and church.
In this lady of wisdom, her family would seek and find guidance, direction and wise counsel for their lives.
Eula lived her life in a true spirit of humbleness. She would, more often than not, place the needs of her family ahead of her own.
Mrs. Hatch was a relentless shopper. But she by no means would spend her time in the futile pursuit of self-gain. Her time was invested wisely. Although she would spend hours shopping, just as she would spend her entire life, her shopping was not for gain, but for the benefit of her family, especially for that of her grandchildren.
She led by example. As referred to her by her children, Eula was the kindest person one could have the pleasure to come in contact with.
To know her was to love her. She will be sadly missed by all those who were made better by knowing this wonderful lady.
She is survived by her sons, Randolph Hatch and his wife, Janice, of Bayou Vista, and Myron Hatch Sr. of Morgan City.
She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Myron Hatch Jr. of Patterson, Marcus Hatch of Morgan City, Marilyn Hatch Comeaux of Morgan City, Mickey Hatch of Morgan City, Troy Hatch of Morgan City, Todd Hatch of Berwick, Teri Shufflebotham of Panama City Beach, Fla., Toby Hatch of Bayou Vista, and Tracy Hatch of Berwick; and eight great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Marie Bourg and Ruth Adams.
A memorial service will be held Sunday afternoon, Jan. 23, 2005, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Patterson.

John Terry Henry, 57, a native and former resident of Morgan City for more than 50 years, died in Evergreen, Colo., on Friday, Jan. 7, 2005.
He was an avid fisherman who loved south Louisiana bayous.
A memorial Mass will be held Thursday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Rhodes Henry of Evergreen, Colo.; his son, Scott Harvey Henry of Evergreen, Colo.; a brother, Chester Henry Jr. and his wife, Leda, of Morgan City; two sisters, Theresa Henry LaGrange of Patterson and Patsy Henry Broussard and her husband, Beverly, of Morgan City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Stella Henry; his godchild, Celena Broussard; two great-nieces; and a brother-in-law, Bernard LaGrange.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to Holy Cross Elementary School in Morgan City.

Kerry Renthrope Sr., 57, a native of Berwick and resident of Patterson, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at 5 p.m. at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church in Patterson.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in the Patterson Cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, James and Sally Randle of Patterson; his wife, Rosa Renthrope of Patterson; two sons, Kerry Renthrope Jr. and Shawn Renthrope, both of Patterson; three daughters, Yavette Johnson of Berwick and Chantell Renthrope and Velissa Renthrope, both of Patterson; four brothers, Ralph Randle of Houston, Warren Renthrope of Atlanta, Charles Renthrope of Morgan City and Ronald Renthrope of New Orleans; and five sisters, Maxine Johnson of Bryan, Texas , Lorraine Gantt and Almetria Gantt, both of Houston, Yvonne Renthrope and Gail Renthrope, both of Morgan City.
Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of the arrangements.

Leo James Ghirardi
April 18, 1916 — January 18, 2005
Leo James Ghirardi, 88, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, died Tuesday at his residence in Morgan City. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
He also was a member of the St. Mary Parish AARP, VFW, American Legion, Scottish Rite Valley of Baton Rouge, Shriners Acacia Temple and Doric Lodge 205 F&AM.
He is survived by one daughter, Roxanne Brown of Morgan City; one son, David J. Ghirardi of Morgan City; one sister, Marie Byers of Houston; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers and four sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City with Mason Rites performed at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be at Twin City Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Paul Wilson officiating.
interment will be at the Morgan City Cemetery with full military honors given by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Aline G. Stewart
February 5, 1916 — January 18, 2005
Aline G. Stewart, born Feb. 5, 1916, in Church Point, Passed away to her heavenly reward Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at her residence in Bayou Vista at the age of 88. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Aline was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 242 where she held the offices of president and past president, along with many other local, state and national offices. She was also a member of Cabane 1618 and was the LaSous President and former LaGrande Historian.
The date was Dec. 9, 1950, a date unlike any other during a cold afternoon in New Burn, N.C. It was there that the lives of Asa and Aline were intertwined and they began their blissful journey as man and wife, a journey that would last 54 wonderful years.
Aline lived an amazing life. She lived her life as though not her own. Mrs. Stewart had an immeasurable faith in God. She loved her church and devoted many hours in and for the service of others. Mrs. Stewart led by example. She was committed to her prayer life, and she would share her faith with all those she came in contact with. She raised her children to love the Lord and handed down to each one of them a great love for God and the church.
In this lady of wisdom, her family would seek and find guidance, direction and an immense source of strength for their lives. Aline volunteered with no thought of reward or gain, except that of giving to others that were less fortunate than herself or just simply to be a willing servant. Her volunteer work led her to QC2 Nursing Home, St. Jude’s Walk-a-thon, and Girl’s State. She was also very active in numerous other charitable organizations.
She was a marvelous cook that was at her best when it came time for family gatherings. In her kitchen, Aline would prepare culinary delights compared to what some might say to be a royal feast. It was said that if you would leave Aline’s not fulfilled with palatable delights, it was of no fault but your own. In her garden she would nurture and produce a wide variety of beautiful flowers, but none compared to the gorgeous amaryllis that she took great pride of. She would spend countless hours reading and keeping up with current events.
A time of reflection and remembrance will be observed at Hargrave Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. today, Jan. 20, 2005. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Visitation will resume at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, until dismissal at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista commencing at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, officiated by Monsignor Richard Green. Mrs. Stewart will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
Aline is survived by her husband of 54 years, Asa E. Stewart Jr. of Bayou Vista; two daughters, Brenda and son-in-law Dean Smith of New Iberia and Donna and son-in-law Dale Boykin of Bayou Vista; and a son, James and daughter-in-law Charlotte Stewart of Berwick; grandchildren, Aaron Ortego Jr. of Bayou Vista, Kristen Ortego of Bayou Vista, Alicia Smith of New Iberia, Matthew Smith and Richard Smith of New Iberia, Sandi S. Paradee and Zachary Stewart of Berwick, and Hunter Boykin and Ashley Boykin of Bayou Vista; and a great-grandchild, Trevor Smith of New Iberia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vorice and Sara Jane Godeaux; three brothers, and three sisters.
Hargrave Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Bruce Harold Reynolds, a prominent figure in Mobile, Ala., advertising and design circles for many years, died Wednesday at a Mobile hospital. He was 62.
A native of Bunkie and former Morgan City resident, was a graduate of Louisiana College in Pineville. He moved to Mobile, Ala., in 1973 and went to work for Barney & Patrick Advertising.
In 1977, he became one of the founders of Reynolds & Sullivan Advertising in Mobile, Ala., and was associated with that firm for 14 years. He later started a business called Reynolds & Associates in the same city and retired in recent years.
He is survived by a son, Grahm Reynolds of Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter, Paige Reynolds of Providence, R.I.; and a brother, Ray Reynolds of New Orleans.
A memorial service for Reynolds will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at The Bakery Cafe, 1104 Dauphin St.
Gilmer’s Funeral Home at 690 Zeigler Circle West in Mobile, Ala., is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Gail Thompson
April 29, 1970 - January 18, 2005
Martha Gail Thompson, a resident of Daytona Beach, Fla., and a long-time resident of Morgan City, Passed away Jan. 18, 2005, in Daytona Beach, Fla., at the age of 34.
Mrs. Thompson was Catholic by faith; and she had a love for children, as reflective in her work with Easter Seals and day care centers. She was willing and did give a hand to all those who would ask.
She is survived by her companion of five years, Harry Crochet of Morgan City; her mother and stepfather, Carolyn Gail Thompson Dunn and George Richard Dunn of Port Orange, Fla.; stepdaughters, Angela Crochet of Morgan City, Charlotte Crochet of Thibodaux, and Maline Kelly of Germany; her sister, Cynthia Elaine Dunn Sutton; nieces, Elizabeth Alexandria Sutton, Dyanna Marie Sutton and Victoria Jarvis; her brother, John Richard Dunn and sister-in-law Rebecca Faith Dunn; her niece, Bryanna Faith Dunn; and her nephew, Darrin Michael Dunn, all of Port Orange, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by grandchildren Corey Crochet and Derrick Crochet.
Visitation will be observed today, Jan. 21, 2005, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation will resume at Hargrave Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, from 8 a.m. until dismissal at 9:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City commencing at 11 a.m. officiated by Father Josh Rodrigue.
Mrs. Thompson will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
