Garrett Dale Gragg
February 9, 2005 — February 9, 2005
Garrett Dale Gragg became our little angel on the day of his birth. Brought into this world and received into heaven on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center in Thibodaux.
He was the son of Jeremy Gragg and Heather (Haas) Gragg.
He is also survived by one brother, 3-year-old Gavin Anthony Gragg of Morgan City; maternal grandparents, Phil and Margretta Haas of Seabrook, Texas , formerly of Morgan City; maternal great-grandfather, Easton Ardoin of Berwick; paternal grandparents, Dale and Donna Gragg of Sulphur; paternal great-grandfather, Lloyd Benoit of Vinton; paternal great-grandfather, Harold Gragg of Sulphur; paternal great-grandmother, Joan Gragg of Berwick; and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City with a rosary to be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday morning, Feb. 12, 2005, at 9 o’clock at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Father Josh Rodrigue officiating. interment will be at the Morgan City Cemetery.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Michael Joseph Rody, a resident of Amelia born May 23, 1951, in Thibodaux, Passed away Feb. 3, 2005, in Morgan City at the age of 53.
Michael valiantly served his country in the United States Navy as a Navy Seal. During his campaigns in Vietnam, he was awarded the Medal of Honor. During his service career, he was wounded in battle and bestowed on him was the distinct honor of the Purple Heart.
He worked for Shell Oil Co. as a platform production manager. Michael had a true heart of a servant. During his time offshore he witnessed a helicopter crash and, with no thought of himself, he jumped into the Gulf to rescue the men that were aboard. In doing so, because of this selfless act, he was awarded the Presidential Commendation by President Ronald Reagan, which was bestowed on him during a presidential dinner at the White House.
Michael’s gift of a photographic memory combined with his love and dedication to this great nation led him to a career at the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he protected this nation as an undercover agent for 22 years. He also was chief of security for Nelson Inc.
Michael had a love for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed cooking the wild game he would bring home.
Although Michael’s career paths were of bravery and service to others, he had intelligence beyond compare. He was a brilliant author who was the writer of Dead-end Bayou, which was published earlier this year.
He was a world traveler and found great pleasure in what the world had to offer. But throughout his amazing life, nothing compared to the abundant love and dedication he had for his family.
The date was July 10, 1982. On a warm afternoon in Las Vegas, the lives of Marion Reimann and Michael Rody were intertwined and they began the blissful journey as man and wife, a journey that would last for 22½ wonderful years.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Reimann Rody of Germany, who currently resides in Amelia; his loving son, Savoy Rody of Amelia; his mother, Charlotte Rody of Morgan City; his sisters, Mary Duval of Belle Chasse, Cheryl Verdin and Connie Lock, both of Patterson, and Kimberly Hanks of Bayou Vista; his brother, Chris Duval of Bayou Vista; his father, Gilbert Giroir of Morgan City; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
His dear, close friends, Mike Nelson and his son, James Nelson, Herbie Hebert and a very special man, W.M. Sharkey, also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angell Rody; his grandmother, Loulan Rody; his nephew, Landon M. Willis; his stepfather, Charles Duval; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Erna and Kurk Reimann; and his friend, Frank Tussa.
A time of remembrance and reflection will be observed Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, from 5-10 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City.
The East St. Mary Funeral Squad will conduct full military honors for their fallen comrade commencing at 6 p.m. Friday at Hargrave Funeral Home. Religious services will commence Friday at 7 p.m., officiated by Father Benny, in the funeral home chapel.

Ernest Theophulus Phillips Jr., 61, a native of Baldwin and resident of Algiers, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in New Orleans.
Visitation will be observed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baldwin.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marva Yelling Phillips of Algiers; two sons, Ernest T. Phillips III of Kenner and Christopher Phillips I and his wife, Mimi, of Morgan City; two brothers, Joseph Phillips Sr. of Franklin and Mark Phillips Sr. of Houston; two sisters, Suzanne Cross of Harvey and Valerie Verdun of Terrytown; and four grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather and a daughter.
Professional Funeral Services in New Orleans has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Andrew Lee “Lover” Warner, 64, a native of Shadyside Plantation and a resident of Franklin, died Feb. 3 at 9:20 a.m. at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Franklin.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fitzgerald Cemetery in Centerville.
He is survived by his brother, John Warner Jr. of Shadyside; and two sisters, Gloria W. Clark of Verdunville and Eulie W. Williams of Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three brothers.
Jones Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of the arrangements.

Erlene H. Carlino, 89, a native of Perry, Okla., and resident of Alvin, Texas , died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at 12:20 a.m. at The Alvin Health Care Center in Alvin, Texas .
She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Champion Lachico and her husband, Jessie, both of Brownsville, Texas ; one sister, Faye Mickel of Fort Worth, Texas ; her grandchildren, Debra Lachico, Denise Lachico, Jessie Lachico Jr., Robert Champion Jr., John Champion and Tammy Clark; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Carlino; her father, Robert Hannah; her mother, Myrtle Baysinger Hannah; two sons, Bobby George Champion and Billy Champion; one brother, Harvey E. Hannah; five sisters, Jennie Jarvis, Jessie Bryson, Alverta Hannah, Fern Esther Hannah and Dorothy Mae Bryant.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Ibert’s Mortuary, with Father Drinkwater officiating. interment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Patterson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary Inc. in Patterson (985) 395-7873.

Charles Maurice Blanco, 64, born July 14, 1940, in Berwick, died Feb. 11, 2005, at his residence in Bayou Vista.
He served with Company B of the 256th Army National Guard. He retired from Morgan City Lab and X-Ray where he worked for 30 years. He loved to play golf, fish, travel and play with his grandchildren. He was a 1963 LSU graduate.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra Cloutier Blanco of Bayou Vista; his daughters, Theresa Vick of Warner Robins, Ga., and her husband, Brian, and Charlene Lilly of Baton Rouge and her husband, Wade; his brother, Adam Blanco Jr. of Berwick; and three grandchildren, Katie Vick, Jacob Vick and Nathan Lilly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Blanco Sr. and Ardice Ogeron Blanco of Berwick.
Visitation will be observed today at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Religious services will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, commencing at 11 a.m. The East St. Mary Funeral Squad will conduct full military graveside honors with interment in the Berwick Cemetery.

Gerald “Jerry” Eues, a resident of Stephensville, was born April 19, 1943, to the late Albert Sr. and Emily Hebert Eues in Morgan City. He Passed away Feb. 10, 2005, at the age of 61 in Houma.
Jerry always will be known as one whom never met a stranger. He had the unique ability to bring a smile to the faces of all those he would meet.
He was a passionate outdoorsman who loved hunting and trapping and, in a time of his life, he was a commercial fisherman.
Jerry worked 18 years for St. Martin Parish as a Bridge Tender in Stephensville. He was deeply dedicated to the community of Stephensville. Jerry was an active member of the Stephensville Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as treasurer. He was a long-time member of the St. Mary Chapter of the AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Rosella Bowen Eues of Stephensville; his son, Donald “Buddy” Eues of Bayou L’Ourse; his stepson, Rodger “Squirt” and his wife, Jennifer Faust, of Stephensville; his daughters, Donna Tini Eues and her fiancé, Glen Cahanin, Darlene and her husband, Nick Carter, of Bayou Vista, Laura and her husband, D.J. Franklin, of Patterson, and Debbie Creech of Stephensville; his stepsisters, Bertha Guidry of Morgan City and Shirley Beadle of Stephensville; his brothers, Huey “Nonnie” and wife, Linda Eues, of Winder, Ga., and Albert “Butch” Jr. and his wife, Barbara Eues, of Stephensville; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his faithful K-9 companion, Bear; close friends Leonard and Mazie Landry of Stephensville; and a host of friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Sr. and Emily Eues; his sister, Lilly Hymel; his first wife, Molly Breaux Eues; his sons, Dwayne Eues and Darryl Eues; his stepgrandson, Brad Nicholas Carter; and his stepmother, Orelia Eues.
A time of remembrance and reflection will be observed today from 5-10 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation will resume Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2004, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Religious services will be conducted at the funeral home at 2 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Buddy Jack Harrison
Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Delcambre for Buddy Jack Harrison, 78. The Rev. Johnny Ward officiated.
A native of Chillicothe, Texas , and resident of Delcambre, Harrison Passed away at 2:49 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at a Lafayette hospital.
Harrison was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during WWII. He retired from U.S. Customs as a Patrol Officer. Prior to that he worked as a U.S. Sky Marshal, was a retiree of Carbide Chemical Co., worked with the U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Postal Service. Harrison was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 192 of Abbeville.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Charlotte Jean Crum Harrison of Delcambre; four children, David Lee Harrison and wife, Tracy, of Kerrville, Texas , Daniel Ray Harrison and wife, Carolyn, of Huntsville, Texas , Charlotte Jean Anderson of Lafayette and Dana Craig Harrison and wife, Karen, of Raceland; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Byron Harrison and Jewel Sorrels Harrison; and one grandson, Joey Harrison.
Memorials may be made in his memory to the First Baptist Church of Delcambre, 410 N. Robertson St., Delcambre, LA 70528.
Evangeline Funeral Homes in Delcambre was in charge of arrangements.

Thelma Marguerite Verret Landry
February 29, 1908 - February 12, 2005
Thelma Marguerite (Verret) Landry, 96, a native and resident of Bayou L’Ourse, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia.
Thelma loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved gardening, quilting and cooking meals for her family.
She loved to greet each visitor who came to see her with one question: “Food or coffee?”
Above all the things she loved in life, nothing will ever compare to the love she had for her children and grandchildren.
Her family was her life and she had a special place in her heart for each of them.
The family always will treasure the fact that when one of them entered the room, her eyes would “light up.”
Thelma was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her, and each life that she touched in her own special way.
She was the daughter of the late Trasimond Verret and the late Alice (Landry) Verret.
She is survived by her three daughters, Doris Elliott and her husband, William, of Loreauville, Tessie Blanco and her husband, Harley, of Morgan City, and Bertha Bernard and her husband, Jennings, of Bayou Vista; her son, Dewey J. Landry of Bayou L’Ourse; a sister, Velma “Tut” Verret of Amelia; 26 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Earl Skeen, Corey Rentrop, Ryan Landry, Ronnie Bailey, Travis Skeen, Brad Holbert and Zachary LeBlanc .
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of over 47 years, Dewey Landry; numerous brothers; one sister, Lenora Verret; four grandchildren, Harley Blanco Jr., David Blanco, Michael Elliott and Billy Elliott.
The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia. A rosary will be said at 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with the Rev. Greg Fratt officiating.
interment will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in Amelia.
