Durbin
David Durbin, 59
David Quinton Durbin, 59, entered into rest Monday, March 1, 2004 in Shreveport, LA. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2004 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel. Reverend Floyd Johnson , pastor of Huntington Park Church of Christ officiated. interment followed in Forest Park West Cemetery, Meriwether Road.The family received friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 4, 2004 at the funeral home.

David was born January 3, 1945 to Douglas and Pauline Durbin in Winn Parish, LA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas D. Durbin; nephew, Lyndon Kirkham and niece, Nicole Savannah Heydens.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Linda Upshaw Durbin; sons, Craig Durbin and Brian Durbin, both of Shreveport, LA; mother, Pauline Durbin, of Gansville, LA; brother, Russell Durbin, of Gansville, LA; sisters, Deanna Page and husband, Mike, of Houston, TX, Brenda Shively and husband, Thomas, of Jonesboro, LA, Nelda Shows and husband, Randy, of Jonesboro, LA, Teresa Kirkham and husband, Randy Bill, of Bienville, LA; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Pallbearers were Michael Page, Jason Shively, Rodney Shows, Jon Durbin, Nelson Cole, Harry Allen, Harold Zern, III and Dave Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers were Ardis Phillips, Brice Patrick, Fred Strozier, Mitchell Page, Matthew Page and Jacob Shively.

The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to Dr. Paul Schuler and staff and to Willis-Knighton Pierremont and Life Care Hospital.

Elmore
Mary Elmore, 81
Funeral services for Mary Lue Elmore, 81, March 1 at the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Calloway and Alphonse Lee officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Elmore died Feb. 26.She was born March 15, 1922 to James and Viola Hamilton in Calhoun. She was a member of the Greater Jonesboro C.O.G.I.C.

Mrs. Elmore was preceded in death by her parents and three children, John, Donnia and Donelle.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Webb Elmore Sr.; children, Ora Wiley of Quitman, Margaret Washington of Dallas, Wilma Wattts and husband Gary of Waco, Texas , Mary Leonard and husband Roosevelt of Jonesboro, Lillie Turman and husband Billy of Dallas, Catherine Butler and husband Benny of Rochester, N.Y., Elsa Jones and husband Mark of Jonesboro, Webb Elmore Jr. of Jonesboro and Joseph Elmore and wife Sandra of Wichita, Kansas; one step-son, Willie Lee and wife Arnetta; sisters, Verna Lee Hamilton of Ruston and Sadie Ethridge and husband Roy of Monroe; 37 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Honorary pallbearers were sons, grandsons and sons-in-law.

Pallbearers were Carl Bradley, James Gray, James Morgan Jr., Vernon Spinks Jr., Calvin Moore, Eddie James Bradford and Hal Mims.

Services were under the direction of Simmons Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Hill
Alma Hill, 86
Funeral services for Alma Giddens Shows Hill, 86, of Jonesboro were held Wednesday, March 3, at the Center Point Baptist Church with the Revs. William Busby and Joey Bignar Officiating. Mrs. Hill made her journey home Feb. 29 at the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Center to join those family members who preceded her in death: her husband, Ed Hill; son-in-law, A. Zack Smith whom she loved as a son; parents, Tom and Zera Giddens; brothers, J. T., Jesse L. (Cotton), Bud, John D. Giddens; sisters, Cecil (Red) Britnell and Nora Lawrence. Mrs. Hill moved to Jonesboro in 1936 and was married to William D. Shows in 1940. They leave two survivors, William Dale Shows of Winnfield and Wilda Shows Smith of Jonesboro. Other survivors include her granddaughter, Alma Michelle and her husband Tim Breeding, and her three great-grandsons, Jacob Alan, William Zacues, J. Micah, all of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Edna G. Layfield of Jonesboro and Sue Suggs and husband Eddie of Shreveport; brother-in-law, Elsworth Lawrence of Shreveport; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Giddens of Grand Cane; and numerous nieces and nephews. Until the time of her illness, she was an active member of the Center Point Baptist Church. She loved and enjoyed square dancing, especially with the High Steppers. She was employed at Jackson Parish Hospital and Green Thumb Council on Aging. Music was presented by her nephew, Randy Layfield and niece Gladys Reed.

Honorary pallbearers were Mammie’s great-grandsons Jacob, Zack and Micah.

Pallbearers were nephews, Andy Pardue, Bobby Britnell, Ronnie Giddens, Clint Howard, Clifton Shows, Jerry Bamberg, Tommy Giddens and son, Dale Shows.

The family would like to thank the staff of Healthsouth and Forest Haven for the care and love they gave their mother and grandmother. Also to very special friend, Laverne Johnson , her roommate at Forest Haven for seven years.

Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Lyles
Louise Lyles, 72
Funeral services for Louise Johnson Lyles, 72, of Plain Dealing were held March 5 at the Plain Dealing Church of Christ with Mr. Bruce Ligon officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Lyles died March 1 in Shreveport following a lengthy illness.

Born Sept. 1, 1931 in Quitman to Aurby N. and Irene Pate Johnson , she was a resident of Plain Dealing for 58 years, a member of the Plain Dealing Church of Christ, a homemaker and a seamstress.

Mrs. Lyles was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, J.W. Lyles; daughter, Jo Lou Lyles; her parents; and sister, Elaine J. Smalley.

She is survived by sons, Melvin Lyles and wife Linda of Fayetteville, N.C. and Glenn Lyles and wife Bertha of Plain Dealing; daughters, Kathy Lyles and Jan Fultz, both of Plain Dealing; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; twin sister, Elouise J. Pepper of Jonesboro; sister, Alverne J. Hollingsworth and husband Dirk of Tampa, Fla.; brothers, Dale Johnson and wife Irene of Lubbock, Texas and Curtis Johnson of Tampa.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Paul Yarborough, Stephen Fultz, Joey Fultz, Randy Fultz, Ross Watts and Michael Watts.

Services were under the direction of Bailey Mortuary of Plain Dealing.

Tew
John Tew, 82
Funeral services for John Wesley Tew, 82, of Shreveport were held March 5 at the Centuries Memorial Park with the Rev. Malcolm Self and Clyde A. Tew Jr. officiating.

Mr. Tew died March 3 in Jonesboro.

Born July 11, 1921 in Fort Worth, he was a retired foreman with SWEPCO electric company and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and Korea.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Tew.He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mrs. Lou Tew; nephews, Richard A. Tew, Clyde A. Tew Jr., Dudley Tew and James Tew; nieces, Winnie Ainsworth, Arletta Tew and Elvera Moore; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.Pallbearers were Clyde A. Tew Jr., Allen Tew, Gregory Tew, Billy Tew, Tookie Tew and Ryan Tew.

Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Hogan
William Hogan, 72
Funeral services for William A. “Bill” Hogan, 72, of Weston were held Feb. 27 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jesse Stripland and the Rev. E.D. Morris officiating. Burial followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Hogan died Feb. 24 in Ruston.

Born May 10, 1931 in Hodge, he was a retired farmer and a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Hogan was preceded in death by his parents, V.J. Hogan and Neena Hogan; and siblings, Alburn Earl “Buster” Hogan, Helen Marie Littlejohn, Ardis Dewey Hogan, Clarence Aubrey Hogan, Vershal James “Samp” Hogan, Mary Louise Holden and Jessie Ernest Hogan.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Hogan of Weston; sons, Joseph Scott Hogan and wife Catherine of Wooster, Ohio, Charles Hogan and wife Mira of Choudrant and William Allen “Bud” Hogan Jr. and wife Tracy of Jennings; step-son, Marcus Keif Garity of Weston; sisters, Delma Massey and husband Huey of Weston and Thelma Robertson of Sarepta; brother, Davis Hogan and wife Linda of Weston; and eight grandchildren, Charles Ernest Hogan, Vershal Johnothon Hogan, Aubrey David Hogan, William Joseph Hogan, Orren Paul Hogan, Katie JoAnna Hogan, Jacob Henry Hogan and Lucas Samuel Hogan.

Honorary pallbearer was Marcus Garity.

Pallbearers were Jacob Hogan, Lucas Hogan, Charlie Hogan, Vershal Hogan, Aubrey Hogan and William Hogan.

Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Abercrombie
Talmage Abercrombie, 68
Funeral services for Talmage Abercrombie, 68, of Jonesboro were held Feb. 23 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Mims officiating. Burial followed in the Danville Cemetery.

Mr. Abercrombie died Feb. 19 at Jackson Parish Hospital.

Born Dec. 4, 1935 in New London, Texas , he was a millwright.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Abercrombie of Jonesboro; daughters, Mitzi Roden of Ruston and Kim Garner and husband Tracy of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ted Bosch, Benji Carpenter, Johnny Davis, Jon Albes, Rudy Bangan and Wayne White .

Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Antley
Lessie Antley, 93
Funeral services for Lessie Thompson Antley, 93, of Ruston were held Feb. 21 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Larry Emery and Bruce White officiating. Burial followed in the Sharon Cemetery in Sikes.

Mrs. Antley died Feb. 18 at Lincoln General Hospital.

Born April 4, 1910 in Sikes, she was a retired teacher.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeanelle White of Ruston; sister, Bessie Calhoun of Ruston; brother, S.A. “Bill” Thompson and wife Marie of Bastrop; grandchild, Bruce White and wife Lana of The Colony, Texas ; two great-grandchildren, Ross White of Orange, Texas and Isaac White of The Colony, Texas .

Pallbearers were Mervin Parker, Sherman Thompson, Billy Calhoun, Jr. Jones, V.E. Jones and Bud Jones.

Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Conn
Ricky Conn, 59
Funeral services for Ricky Conn, 59, of Leesville were held Feb. 21 at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville wit the Revs. John D. Brown and Irby Perkins Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the Cooper Cemetery in Pickering.

Mr. Conn died Feb. 19 at Rapides Regional Hospital in Alexandria.

He worked for Brown and Root, and for the past five years he worked overseas as a plumbing supervisor. He was instrumental in starting T-ball in the Pickering Community.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Lawrence Conn of Leesville; sons, Ricky Conn and Bradley Conn, both of Leesville; daughter, Rachele Wardlow of Leesville; mother, Orene Conn of Chatham; brother, James Conn of Pine Bluff, Ark.; sisters, Floy Moon of Dubach, Geraldine Folds of West Monroe, Polly Richardson of Chatham, Debbie Rogers of Tennessee and Theresa Anderson of Hot Springs, Ark.; and six grandchildren.

Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Homes of Leesville.
