LLOYD EVERETT BURDITT

Grave side service for Lloyd Everett Burditt, 86, of DeRidder, was held Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

He died during December in his residence in DeRidder.

Mr. Burditt was in the United States Army serving in World War II. He worked as a mechanic for Kite Brothers R.V. Sales in DeRidder.

Survivors include daughter Bonnie Burditt of DeRidder, three sisters and two grandchildren.

WILLIAM "BILL" DYKES

Funeral services for William "Bill" Dykes, 68, of DeRidder will be today, Dec. 28, 2004 at Unity Baptist Church of DeRidder. The Rev. Roger Gill and the Rev. Hershel Davis will officiate. Internment will follow in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder

Visitation was Monday, Dec. 27 from 6-10 p.m. and will be today from 8-10 a.m. at the funeral home then from 11 a.m. till service time at the church.

Mr. Dykes Passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004 in Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder.

He is survived by wife Betty Rose Simmons Dykes of DeRidder; son Douglas Coffin and wife Terri of DeRidder; granddaughters April Lynn Coffin of DeRidder and Sara Elizabeth Coffin of DeRidder; sisters Marie Floyd of Booneville, IN and Doris Ann Covert of Myrtle Beach, SC; numerous nieces and nephews, special brothers-in-law Don Simmons of Dallas and Jack Dull of Lewisville, NC; special sisters-in-law Lenore Mae of Houston and Bobbi Simmons of DeRidder.

Mr. Dykes is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Mr. Dykes retired as Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Army after 17 years having served in Korea and two terms in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star. He also retired from the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Department after 12 years due to his health. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and a member of VFW Post #3619.

KATHLEEN C. HARPER

Funeral services for Kathleen C. Harper, 72, of Lake Charles will be held today, Dec. 28, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder with the Rev. Don Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery.

Visitation was Monday Dec. 27 from 3-9 p.m. and will be Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of service at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder.

She died Dec. 23 at 6:10 p.m. at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles.

Survivors include husband Monroe Harper of Lake Charles; son Dr. Patrick Harper and wife Kathy of Moss Bluff; daughters Suzie Langley and husband Russell of Dry Creek, Judy Spears of Carlyss; brothers Fred Campbell, Tom Campbell, and Julian Campbell all of Dry Creek; sisters Jimmie Lou Norwood of Richmond, VA, Charlsie Caywood of Willis, TX, Diane Bushnell of Dry Creek; nine grandchildren Shane Miller of Dry Creek, J.P. Miller of Dry Creek, Bryan Harper of Santa Monica, CA, Cody Spears of Carlyss, Rick Harper of Natchitoches, Brad Scoggins of Longville, Ben Scoggins of Moss Bluff, Shannon Langley of Dry Creek, Jamie Langley of Kinder along with 11 Great Grandchildren.

Mrs. Harper was a member of Twelfth St. Baptist Church. She loved antique shopping and was an avid fisherman. Her Grandsons will serve as her pallbearers.

ARDIS ELAINE JONES

Ardis Elaine Jones, age 74 of Bon Wier, Texas died on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004 at her residence in Bon Wier. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Newton with burial to follow at Hughes Cemetery in Bon Wier.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was a native of Atwood, Kansas and had lived in Bon Wier for 42 years.

Survivors include her sons Randy Lee Jones of Bon Wier, Daniel Ray Jones of Bon Wier; daughters Linda Jones Mann of Bon Wier, Kathy Jones Homeniuk of Kilgore, TX; her brother Edwin Gene Pemberton of North Glen, Co.; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sam Jones and her son, Master Sgt. Sam Jones, Jr.

HELEN G. RANEY

Helen G. Raney, 83, Passed away in Mesquite, Tx, on Dec. 17, 2004. Services were held on Monday, Dec. 20, 2004 at 3 p.m. at the Christian Center Assembly of God with the Rev. Burchett officiating.

interment was in the Hilltop Memorial Cemetery of Carrollton, Tx. with the North Dallas Funeral Home in charge.

She was preceded in death by her son Preston D. Fitzgerald and numerous loved ones.

She is survived by two sons, Larry L. Fitgerald and Gary N. Raney; two daughters, Mary E. Jackson and DeBbie L. Brazel; two sisters, Ethel Stovall and Mary Stovall; numerous nieces and nephews, 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

AZOR ELEAZOR SHIRLEY, JR

Funeral services for Azor Eleazor Shirley, Jr., 73, of DeRidder will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 in Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder. The Revs. Allan Knuckles, George L. Glass and Jim Miers will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military honors.

He died at his residence in DeRidder, at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004.

He is survived by his loving wife Huynh T. Shirley of DeRidder, children Kathleen Heldt and family of Queen City, Tx., Donald Shirley and family of Queen City, Tx., Elizabeth S. Trahan of Friendswoord, Tx, Christina S. Wilkins of New Braunfelds, Tx; sister Sharon A. Thibodeaux and family of DeRidder, brothers Clyde K. Shirley and wife of El Paso Tx., Charles E. Shirley and family of Houston, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

LULA MAE SIGERS

Funeral services for Lula Mae Sigers, 77, of DeRidder will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 in Fullerton Baptist Church in Fullerton with the Rev. Patrick Austin officiating.

Burial will be in Blue Branch Cemetery in Pitkin under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

She died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 in DeRidder.

She is a native of Pitkin and a member of Fullerton Baptist Church.

She is survived by son Allen L. Smith of Pitkin; daughters Patricia A. Shirley of DeRidder and Edna Sue Kennison of Houston; sister Lottie Pearl Bivens of Lindale, Tx.; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 at the church until service time.

OLVIN RAY

Graveside services for Olvin Ray, 79, of Rosepine, will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 1, at Rosepine Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

He died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at Pinehaven Nursing Center in Rosepine.

He was a lifelong resident of Rosepine and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Jewel Ray of Rosepine; two sons, James O. Ray and Richard D. Ray, both of DeRidder; four daughters, Vera F. Jones, Alice La Nan James, Annita Ruth Ray, all of Rosepine and Myra J. Ray of Lafayette; two brothers, D.D. Ray and O.C. Ray, both of Santa Fe, Texas ; four sisters, Lola Yater of Fort Worth, Texas , Muriel Ball of Bowling Green, Ken., Mittie Dowden of Rosepine, and Johnnie Duncan Pits of Dickinson, Texas ; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

HAZEL B. CITIZEN

Funeral service for Hazel B. Citizen, 92, of DeRidder, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Star of Bethlehem Church in DeRidder, with the Rev. Elliott Ford officiating. Burial will be in Community Cemetery in DeRidder, under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at the church.

She died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 in DeRidder.

She was a member of the Star of Bethlehem Church where she began the choir. She was very active in civic and community affairs.

Survivors include one daughter, Edith Bedford of Houston, Texas ; three grandchildren, Sheryl Dotson of Houston, Texas , Vance Bedford of Chicago, Ill. and Pheneria Watson of Katy, Texas ; and three great-grandchildren.

Ella Guidry Melancon

CROWLEY – Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2005, at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel for Ella Guidry Melancon, 101, who died Friday, August 19, 2005, at 10:45 p.m. at Southwind Nursing Home.

interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Sadie and Stan Nepveux of Crowley, Marlene and Dr. Jack Frank of Crowley, Janet and Mark Pannell of Lawtell; three sons, Dale and Jackie Melancon of Crowley, Mahlon and Delores Melancon of Crowley and Robley and Lilly Melancon of Lafayette; 25 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robley Melancon and a son Gordon Jude Melancon.

Arrangements were entrusted to Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.

Janelle “Nell” Thibodeaux

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, in St. Edmund Catholic Churchin Branch, with Father Francis Bourgeois officiating, for Janelle “Nell” Thibodeaux, 63, of Branch, who died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at her Branch residence.

Burial was in the St. Edmund Cemetery in Branch.

Visitation was observed Thursday from 11 a.m.until 10 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Friday.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in the church hall on Thursday.

She is survived by two daughters, Frances Thibodeaux, Branch, and Josette Thibodeaux, Crowley; three sons, Andy and his wife, Laurie, Thibodeaux, Branch, Troy and his wife, Darlene, Thibodeaux, Glenmora, and Cody Thibodeaux, Branch; two sisters, Frankie Thibodeaux and Maida Richard, both of Branch; one brother, David Fontenot, Branch; and seven grandchildren, Dustyne Thibodeaux, Nicholas Thibodeaux, Dakota Thibodeaux, Addison Thibodeaux, Brittany Thibideaux, Faith Thibodeaux, and Zachary Thibodeaux.

Ms. Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Oday Thibodeaux; and her parents, Foy and Wilma Fontenot.

Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.
