Edna L. Nolan
BRANCH –– Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, in St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley, with Father Francis Bourgeois officiating, for Edna L. Nolan, 66, of Branch, who died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
Visitation was observed from 3 to 10 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until time of services Tuesday.
A rosary was prayed Monday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by her husband, Hilman Nolan, Sr., Branch; two sons, Hilman Nolan Jr., Duson, and Patrick Nolan, Lafayette; one daughter, Angela Hutchinson, Fairfield, Texas ; three sisters, Helen Quebodeaux, Morse, Lorraine Fuselier, Church Point, and Irene Pousson, Iota; and three grandchildren, Rachel Nolan, Alyssa Guidry and Hunter Hutchinson.
Mrs. Nolan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Prather LeBouef; and one sister, Annie Foreman.
She retired from South Central Bill Telephone Company after 18 years of service.
A longtime resident of Branch for 30 years and a member of St. Edmond Catholic Church, Mrs. Nolan was also a member of the Mowata Association

J. Kenneth Carrier
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m.Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Richard Wagner, S.J.J. officiating, for Joseph Kenneth Carrier, 55, of Richard, who died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at his residence.
A rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel.
Visitation was observed from Tuesday at 6 p.m.until time of service on Wednesday.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 in Rayne.
He is survived by two sons, Joey Carrier and Michael Carrier, both of Rayne; one daughter and her husband, Misty and Jesse Menard, Carencro; three sisters, Wilda Bourque, Lewisburg, and Alma Broussard and Brenda Richard, both of Rayne; his ex-wife, Jessica Quibodeaux, Lafayette; a companion, Linda Breaux of Rayne; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Mrs. Yves Carrier and Aline LeJeune; one sister, Gwendolyn Carrier; one grandson, Derek Carrier; and one brother, Burton Carrier.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Matthew Paul Heinen
Roberts Cove - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo Catholic Church in Roberts Cove for Matthew Paul Heinen, 35, who died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at 12:51 a.m. from a automobile accident.
interment will be in St. Leo Cemetery in Roberts Cove.
In passing he is leaving his two children, Kourey Paul Heinen, of Roberts Cove, Kourtlyn Renee Heinen, of Roberts Cove; companion, Aline Steahle; mother of his children, Christy Slatton of Lafayette; his parents, John A. and Jeanette Prather Heinen, Jr., of Roberts Cove; two brothers, Phillip Michael Heinen and wife Saundra, of Roberts Cove, Lawrence Blane Heinen and wife Toni, of Lafayette; two sisters, Zeblyn Marie Heinen, of Roberts Cove, Elizabeth Clare Heinen Walker and husband Craig, of Roberts Cove; nieces and nephews, Hunter, Skylar, Heath, Brittany, Malori, Connor and Caitlin.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Heinen; maternal grandparents, John and Jeanette Prather, paternal grandparents, John A. and Gert Heinen, Sr..
Matt had a love of life that was surpassed only by his love for his two children Kourey and Kourtlyn. He was an avid pilot with a passion for flying and aircraft. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a love for the outdoors that he passed on to his children. Fall Sunday afternoons were reserved for his favorite team, the New Orleans Saints. He is loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all who knew and worked with him.
A rosary was said at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Jan L. Golden
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Centenary United Methodist Church, for Jan Louise Golden, 51, who died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at the Rayne Guest Home.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Christopher Haggar, and John James Haggar, both of Baton Rouge; one brother, John Golden III of New Orleans; three sisters, Diane Golden of Lafayette, Ann Zaunbrecher of Rayne, and Susan Perkins of Cary, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Jane Johnston Golden Jr.
Jan served in the Air Force for nine years as a lawyer. Upon leaving the service, she earned her accounting degree from UCLA and earned her CPA. Later she earned her teaching certification from the University of New Orleans.
Visitation was observed Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, from 8:00 a.m. until services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the “Ronald Mc Donald’s House” in memory of Gayle Golden Perkins at RMHC of North Carolina, Inc. 3200 Beechleaf Court, Suite 300 Raleigh, NC. 27604 or to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St. Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70503.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Edith Wyatt
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with members of the Jehovah Witness Church officiating, for Edith Wyatt, 95, of Branch, who died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at her residence.
Visitation was observed from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday.
Burial was in the Rayne Cemetery in Roberts Cove.
She is survived by one sister, Mary C. Leger, of Branch, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ms. Wyatt was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Wyatt; her parents, Walter and Madeline Matte Richard; one sister, Lena Richard; and four brothers, Wesley, Leslie, Hilman and Hershel Richard.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Anna Leblanc Richard
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, for Anna Leblanc Richard, 95, from Indian Bayou, who died Wednes-day, July 27, 2005, at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Survivors include two daughters, Gladys Maloz of Rayne, and Shirley and Percy Hanks of Scott; two sons, Gilford Richard and Lois Romero of Crowley, and Harry Richard of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Richard; her parents, Desire Leblanc and Anaise Credeur; and one son, August James Richard (Ceyro).
Pallbearers were Matthew Richard, Larry Hanks, Derek Richard, Blake Richard, Joey Maloz, and Glen Richard.
Honorary pallbearers were Lee Richard, Greg Richard, Louis Maloz, and Brad Maloz.
Visitation was Friday July 29, 2005, from 10:00 a.m. until 10 p.m., with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday July 30, 2005, from 8:00 a.m. until services.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home f Rayne.

Jerome Bergeron, Jr.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Delhomme Scott Chapel for Jerome Bergeron, Jr. 77, who Passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Lady of the Oak Retirement Manor in Lafayette. He was a native of Scott and resident of Rayne.
Visiting hours were held Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and continued on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to time of service.
He is survived by his wife, Anna L. Hebert, Lafayette; one daughter, Cynthia Adams and husband Harry of Scott; three sisters, Lena Bergeron, Mary Robin and husband Odel of Lafayette, and Joyce Mier, Rayne; three brothers, Elton Bergeron and wife Audrey of Breaux Bridge, Harris Bergeron, Lafayette, and Joe Bergeron and wife Linda of Huntsville, Ala.; two stepdaughters, Martha Jane Richard and husband Frank Richard of Lafayette and Ruth Vidrine and husband Ronnie Vidrine of Beaumont, Texas ; a stepson, Robert Hebert; of Lafayette; three step-grandchildren and husbands; five step-great-grandchildren and a husband; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Bergeron, Sr., and Marie Trahan Bergeron; one sister, Dorothy; and five brothers, Howard, Nelson, George, Andrus and John Wilson Bergeron.
Pallbearers were Tony Robin, Donavon Robin, John Mier, Brandon Shackelford, Jim Gibbons, Scott Shackelford.
Honorary pallbearers were Joe Bergeron, Odel Robin, Bret Schaeffer, Ronnie Vidrine, Frank Richard and Robert Hebert.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 705 Marie St., Scott, was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Lee Etta Godeaux Venable
Lee Etta Godeaux Venable died last week at the age of 68 in a Houston, Texas , hospital after an extended battle with emphysema. The death of her body was the resurrection of her spirit and soul, and her life work ended when her Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth came to meet her.
She was born September 6, 1936, in Lawtell, Louisiana . She married Auguste Venable at the age of 15, and to her honor bore seven children.
She is survived by four sons, Timothy Venable of Gonzales, Ricky Venable of Rayne, Nolan Venable of Scott, and Joseph Venable of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Darlene Venable of Surfside, Tcxas, and Donna Venable of Mire; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by beloved husband Auguste Venable; son Thomas Boyd Venable; parents, Amy Carriere and Thomas Godeaux; and brother, Johnny Godeaux, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the womb.
A graveside memorial was held on the Sabbath in Mire, Louisiana .
In two words the totality of her life can be written: She loved.
In turn, she was loved much.
She spoke in life the last words she longed to speak at her death: Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Mickey Matte
BRANCH –– Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2006, at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Branch for Mickey Matte, 45, a resident of Branch. Mr. Matte Passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at 8:30 a.m.
interment was in St. Edmund Cemetery in Branch.
Survivors include his grandmother, Irene Bellard Matte, Rayne; his companion, Christine Montecino, Church Point; his son, Lance Christopher Matte, Rayne; one stepson, Carl Montecino, III, of Church Point; one daughter, Shannon Matte Hollier, Breaux Bridge; and one stepdaughter, Tiffany Montecino, Church Point. Also survived by two grandchildren, Dillan Jacob Hollier and Leah Michelle Hollier, and two step-grandchildren, Devin Slay and Jaylynn Slay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Matte and Marlene Olivier Matte; his grandfather, Leonce Matte; his maternal grandparents, Albert Olivier and Annie Richard Olivier; and a son-in-law, Dennis Hollier.
Visitation was observed Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and resumed Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Guidry Funeral Home, Inc., of Church Point was in charge of all arrangements.
