Johnny Hebert
Mr. Johnny Hebert, 82- years-old, died peacefully Sunday, July 16, 2006.
He was born in Rayne to Joe and Dora Mier Hebert, early settlers of Rayne, on October 1, 1923.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Broussard Hebert; his four children, Jennifer Cradeur and husband Foy, Stephanie Douget and husband Tony, Damian Hebert and wife Margaret, and Bart Hebert and wife Renalla; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Pearl Pape and Gloria Brodell, both of Houston, Texas .
Preceeding him in death were his two brothers, Percy Hebert and Joe Allen Hebert.
Johnny will be remembered as General Manager of Mervin Kahn Company; also as bookkeeper of Babineaux Lumber Company and Louisiana Frog Company, his first job after returning from World War II, having served in the Air Force.
Mr. Hebert was a dedicated husband and caring father. Many happy fun-filled family gatherings will be reflected upon with fond memories by his loved ones, especially as the graceful dancing couple he and his lovely wife were at socials.
He was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a graduate of St. Joseph High School and an altar boy in his younger years.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Ralph Leger
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2006, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Fred Monceaux officiating, for Ralph Leger, 52, of Crowley, who died at 8:15 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2006, at his residence.
Visitation was began at 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemtery No. 2 in Rayne.
He is survived by his godparents, Wilfred and Shirley Romero of Rayne, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mr. Leger was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Leger, and his grandparents.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Terry Powers
Funeral services were held Monday, July 17, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Terry Powers, 44, who died at his sister’s residence in Church Point on Friday, July 14, 2006, at 12:55 p.m. He was diagnosed with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrigs Disease) in 2004.
interment was in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Church Point. Father Blair-Lope Sabaricos conducted the services.
Survivors include his father, John Powers of Lafayette; two brothers, John Powers, Jr., and his wife Michelle of Magnolia, Texas , and Rick Fontenot and his wife Mary of Bossier City; two sisters, Janet Lyons and her husband Joseph of Church Point and Susan Fontenot of Broussard; his godchildren, Natalie Duff, Ali Powers, Joshua Fontenot and Hunter Sweeney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Menard Miller, and his maternal grandparents, Eddie Menard and Elizabeth Higginbotham Menard.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from Saturday 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. continue from 8 a.m. Sunday until 10 p.m. and continue from 8 a.m. Monday until services at 10 a.m.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 16.
Terry was a member of the Trout Club of America; he loved fishing and was an avid hunter. He was a member of the Orateering Club and loved the Boston Red Sox. He was a graduate of UL in Agricultural Business and was employed by Hickory daily News as their distribution manager in Hickory, North Carolina.
Pallbearers were John Powers, Rick Fontenot, Austin Powers, Hunter Sweeney, Jeremy Fontenot, and Joshua Fontenot. Honorary pallbearers were Grant Sweeney, Steven Menard, and Keith Menard.
Arrangements were entrusted to Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

Tina Ann Matthews
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Tina Ann Matthews, 36, who died Saturday, July 15, 2006.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
Survivors include her husband, Blaine "Tony" Matthews, of Crowley; four daughters, Lauren Johnson , Sloane Matthews, Brittany Johnson and Ann Marie Matthews, all of Crowley; parents, Donald and Patsy Daigle, of Opelousas; one brother, Scott Daigle, of Lafayette; two sisters, Wendy Richard, of Carencro, and Dana Daigle, of Branch; and one cousin/sister, Paulette Thibodeaux.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Dudley and Ida Martin, and paternal grandparents, Levy and Pearly Daigle.
A rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until services.
Arrangements were enrtusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Leeward John Richard
HUNTSVILLE, ALA. –– Funeral services were held at noon Tuesday, July 18, 2006, in the Berryhill Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Glenn Bowers officiating, for Leeward John Richard, 62, who died Sunday, July 16, 2006.
Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 17.
A resident of Madison, Ala., Richard was a retired U.S. Army veteran. He served in Vietnam and had 22 years of service.
He recently retired from the U.S. Army Aviation and Misslie Command in Huntsville, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, Denise; sons, Lee Richard Jr., of New Iberia, and Chris Richard of Hartford, Conn.; stepdaughter, Stacy Campbell, Madison, Ala.; sisters, Hilda Breaux of Arnaudville; Marie Lorguier, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Evelyn Nowacki of Baton Rouge; brothers, Harold Richard of Baton Rouge and Ted Richard of Lafayette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Lena Richard, and a brother, Ernest Richard.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Clara Savoie Richard
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.Wednesday, July 19, 2006, in Assumption Catholic Church in Mire, with Msgr. Russell Harrington officiating, for Clara Savoie Richard, 72, of Lafayette, who died at 11:45 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2006, at her son’s home in Lafayette.
Burial was in the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in MIre.
A rosary was prayed Tuesday, July 18, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was observed on Tuesday from 3 to 10 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Marcus and Charmine Richard and Michael and Becky Richard, all of Lafayette, and Patrick and Charlene Richard, Rayne; one brother, John Savoy, Breaux Bridge, one sister, Bernita Bearb, seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Ms. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Richard, and her parents, Mr. Essie and Edan Leger Savoie.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Joseph Thomas Gainey
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2006, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Gary officiating, for Joseph Thomas Gainey, 23, of Rayne, who died suddenly Monday, July 10, 2006.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 in Rayne.
A rosary was recited Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was observed on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and then on Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
He is survived by his mother, Juanita Szekely, Rayne; a stepfather, Julius Szekely, Rayne; two sisters, Erma Szekely, Rayne, and Camella Wilson, Church Point; his maternal grandfather, Burton Guilbeau, Crowley; one nephew, Benjamin Wilson, Church Point; his fiance’ April Ledoux, Rayne; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Mr. Gainey was preceded in death by his father, Boyce Gainey; paternal grand parents and maternal grandmother.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mae Belle Alleman
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 8, 2006, at 10:00 a.m at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mae Belle Alleman, 75, who died Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Medical Center of the South West.
Survivors include her husband, Leo “L.J.” Alleman of Lafayette; three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Mac Dore of Broussard, Romona and Harry Ravain of Metairie, and Michelle and Raymond Prejean of Mire; one son and his wife, Leo M. and Michele Alleman of Seabrook, Texas ; one brother, Larry and his wife Irene Fields of Moss Bluff, eight grandchildren, Lori Granger,Shelley Murphy, Jay Ryan Prejean, Jarrett Prejean, Dustin Kinney, Andrew Alleman, Megan Alleman, and Christopher Alleman; and four great-grandchildren, Kaylin Granger, Katie Granger, Jacie Murphy, and Peyton Murphy;
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mickeal and Stella Faulk Fields, and one sister Audrey Ann Fields.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.
