Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at 1 p.m. in Assumption Catholic Church in Mire, with Msgr. Russell Harrington officiating, for Preston Joseph Richard, 61, of Scott, who died at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, in the Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.
A Rosary was recited Monday, June 13, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the Assumption Cemetery in Mire.
Visitation was observed on Monday, at 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and then on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley Matthews Richard of Scott; two daughters, Sharon Richard, Cankton, and Jackie Richard of Scott; two sons, Kenny Richard and Jason Richard, both of Scott; one sister, Debra LeBlanc , Breaux Bridge, and four beautiful grandchildren, Keith Meaux, Amber Richard, Lane Richard, Shelby Miller and an expectant new life January 2006.
Musical selections, performed by Kenny Richard, included Amazing Grace, On Eagle Wings, Here I Am Lord, and How Great Thou Art.
Pallbearers were Jason Richard, Ronnie Matthews, Jay Matthews, Keith Meaux, Lonnie Matthews, and Douglas Johnson , Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Deway Richard, a longtime friend, and Rusty Ryder, a nephew. Secondary pallbearers were Tony Legrange and Bobby Miller.
Mr. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, father Vorice Richard and mother Myrlis H. Richard.
He was employed by the Lafayette Parish Consolidated Government for 30 years up until his retirement in 1999.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Carita T. Helo
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, in St. Michael Catholic Church, with Father Gary Schexnayder officiating, for Carita T. Helo, 75, of Crowley, who died at 11:10 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2005, in Crowley’s Southwind Nursing Home.
A Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was obsereved from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.Sunday and from 8 a.m. until time of services Monday.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Helo of Crowley; one daughter, Linda Helo of Crowley; one son, Hank Helo and his wife, Susie, of Rayne; two brothers, Merton Thibodeaux, Rayne, and Alton Thibodeaux, Duson; three sisters, Irene Beebe, Arlington, Texas , Danielle Skinner, Florida, and Linda Beuley, Lafayette.; a godmother, Agnes Orgeron, Lafayette; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Henry Helo, III, Mike Helo, Sahid Helo, W.K. Whitewing, Chris Richard and Elias Ackal, III.
Mrs. Helo was preceded in death by her son, Kalil Helo; her parents, Andrus and Amy Thibodeaux, Sr.; two sisters, Doye Whitewing and Mary Louise Heafner; and one brother, Andrus Thibodeaux, Jr.

Elnora Sias
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11, 2005, at 12 noon at Starlight Baptist Church for Elnora Sias, 55, who Passed away Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
interment was in Maryland Chapel Cemetery in Branch.
Visitation was held Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Starlight Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until time of vervices.
Syrie Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette was in charge of arrangements.

Paul Terry Thibodeaux
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005, in St. Edwards Catholic Church in Richard, with Deacon Rev. Mr. Jim Cormier officiating, for Paul Terry Thibodeaux, 37, of Church Point, who died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, at his residence.
Visitation began at 11 a.m. Wednesday with viewing until 10 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday with viewing until time of services.
A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in the St. Edwards Cemetery in Richard.
He is survived by his mother, Theresa Thibodeaux, Crowley; his father, Preston Thibodeaux, Church Point; one daughter, Lenora Thibodeaux, Church Point; one sister, Tammy Nation, Rayne; two brothers, Robert Thibodeaux, Denham Springs, and Richard Thibodeaux, Church Point; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thibodeaux was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Scott Thibodeaux.

Chester Sinegal
RIDGE - Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Morning Star Christ Sanctified Church for Chester Sinegal, 48, who Passed away Thursday, June 2, 2005, in a Lafayette hospital.
interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Syrie Funeral Home from 4 pm until 10 pm. Visitation will resume Thursday at Morning Star Christ Sanctified Church from 8 am until time of services.
Syrie Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Jesse W. Hoffpauir, Sr.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2005, in Indian Bayou Methodist Church in Indian Bayou, with the Rev. Paul Estes officiating, for Jesse W. Hoffpauir, Sr., 88, of Crowley, who died at 6:25 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, in the Crowley Guest Home.
Burial was in the Indian Bayou United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was held Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the Indian Bayou Methodist Church.
He is survived by one daughter and her husband, Brenda and Joe Hargrave, Rayne; one daughter-in-law, Rita Hoffpauir, Lake Charles; two sisters, Agnes Dixon, Orange, Texas , and Vernell Hoffpauir, Tomball, Texas ; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, Tessie Hoffpauir; two sons, Jesse Hoffpauir, Jr., and Glynn Hoffpauir; three brothers, Clyde, Gervis and Carl Hoffpauir; and one sister, Hilda Boulet.

Joseph Lantier
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2005, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley, with the Revs. L.C. Lord, Chris Campo and Farley Painter officiating, for Joseph Lantier, 86, of Crowley, who died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2005, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Visitation was observed from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Sunday.
He is survived by three sons, Steve Lantier, Gueydan, Terry L. Lantier and Monte B. Lantier, both of Crowley; three half-brothers, Martin Lantier and Louis Lantier, both of Sulphur, and Percy Menard of Sunset; five half-sisters, Hilda Menard, Lake Charles, Edith Lantier, Morgan City, Verdie Guidry, Patterson, Hazel Ewing, Hornbeck, and Bertha Faul, Rayne; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lantier was preceded in death by his wife, Louella B. Lantier; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lantier; two brothers, Ervin and Oscar Lantier; and one daughter, Andrea Lantier.

Mary Ann White
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, in Cunningham C.M.E. Church, with the Rev. W.K. Rucker officiating, for Mary Ann White , 57, of Rayne who died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005, in Amelia Manor Nursing Home.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the church from 8 a.m. until time of services.
interment will be in the Rayne Protestant Cemetery.
She is survived by three sons, Robert (Kim) White of Lafayette, Jeffery (Joseyln) of Tennessee, and Lonnie (Tamika) of Tennessee; two daughters, Lucinda (Paul) Broussard, Sr., of Rayne, and Carolyn (Brian) Martin of Lafayette; 13 grandchildren; six brothers, Arthur White , Roland White , Oland White , Allen White , Clifton White , all of Rayne, and Clinton White of Houston, Texas ; four sisters, Mae Rose White , Martha White Handy and Helena White , all of Rayne, and Ella White Clement, Houston, Texas ; three brother-in-laws, O’Neil Clement, Dojie Peltier, and Milton Handy; two sisters-in-law, Midlred White and Sliva White , a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, one sister, Bernice White Peltier; one brother, Raymond White , Jr.; one nephew, Kevin White ; and one grandson, Ja’Cory White .

Claudia M. Stelly
Funerals services were held Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at 2 p.m. in St. Bridget’s Church in Lawtell, with Father Dan Picard officiating, for Claudia M. Stelly, 76, of Lawtell, who died at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Doctor’s Hospital in Opelousas.
Burial was in Ceder Hill Cemetery in Washington , La.
Visitation was held Monday from 2 p.m. until time of services Tuesday. A Rosary was recited Monday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Thibodeaux, and Lee Ann and John Richard, all of Church Point; five sons and their spouses, Roland and Patricia Stelly, Washington , Noland and Julie Stelly, James and Melinda Stelly and Charles Stelly, all of Lawtell, and Leeray and Jodi Stelly, Branch; five sisters, Lillia Barras and Ida Taylor , both of Arnaudville, Lillian Taylor , Mansura, Georgie Quebodeaux, Westwego, and Gladys Schexnayder of St. Martinville; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ms. Claudia was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Stelly; one son, Malcolm Stelly; one grandson, Roland Todd Stelly; her parents, Alcee and Evela Marks; three sisters, Alma Hebert, Shirley Bernard and Merline Marks, and three brothers, Eve, Leeroy and Batmost Marks.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Claude Stelly
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Buddy Breaux officiating, for Claude Stelly, 95, of Rayne, who died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at 11:25 a.m. in the Rayne Guest Home.
A rosary was recited Monday at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Visititation was observed Monday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
He is survived by one brother, Walter Stelly, Rayne; two grandchildren, Penny and Kirt Bellard, Church Point; a spouse, Jude Bertrand, Bridge City, Texas ; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Stelly was preceded in death by his wife, Opheila Stelly; two daughters, Hilda Stelly and Bernice Foreman; one grandchild, Mark Foreman; his parents, Mr. Noah Stelly and Colrine Prejean Stelly; six brothers, Delpha, Forest, Elton, Paul, Percy, and Leroy Stelly; and two sisters, Edith Leger and Bertha Cormier.
