Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2005, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Mike Polsson officiating, for Joseph Dennis Briscoe, 41, of Church Point, who died at 11:10 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2005, in Rayne.
A rosary was recieted at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was observed Sunday 10 a.m. until time of services on Monday.
Burial was in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Church Point.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Dina Briscoe, Church Point; two daughters, Haley Briscoe and Callie Briscoe, both of Church Point; one son, Cainen Briscoe, Church Point; one sister, Sherry Briscoe, Church Point; and five brothers, Tim Briscoe, Ray Lloyd Biscoe, Getty Briscoe, Lane Briscoe, all of Church Point, and Blane Briscoe, Dallas, Texas .
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Aymond, and his parents, Lloyd and Verly Briscoe.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements

Marcella LaPointe
Funeral services for Marcella LaPointe, age 78, who died Monday, June 26, 2006, at Our Lady Of Lourdes Regional Medical Center were held Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Starlight Baptist Church in Rayne. Visitation was held from 8 a.m. until the time of service Saturday, July 1, 2006, at the church.
Rev. Cozy Gage conducted the service.
interment was held in the Protestant Cemetery,
Survivors include two sons, William LaPointe, Jr., of Port Arthur, Texas , and Anthony LaPointe of Beaumont, Texas ; two daughters, Rosalind Chevalier and Audrey Paddio, both of Lafayette; one brother, Rev. Cozy Gage of Baton Rouge, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Percy and Lawrence Gage; sisters, Gracie Wilson, Mable Williams, and Leona and Essie Gage, and a great-granddaughter, Kayla Matthews.
Arrangements were entrusted to Kinchen Funeral Home of Lafayette.

Joseph Wallace Easterling
Funeral services were held Friday, June 30, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, for Joseph Wallace Easterling, 83, who died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at the Rayne Guest Home.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Diane Easterling; three sons and their wives, Donald and Mona Leger Easterling, Terry and Ninfa Easterling, and Scott and Sandy Easterling; one brother and his wife, Tommy Marcella Easterling; two sisters, Hanna Honan, and Hazel and her husband James; seven grandchildren, Chad and his wife Amy Easterling, Kelley and her husband Johnathan Guidry, Sheri Easterling, Anthony Easterling, Sammy Easterling, Sarah Easterling, and Charles Easterling; and four great-grandchildren, Abigail and Addison Easterling, and Colin and Alyson Guidry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Moreau Easterling; one son, Randy Easterling; parents, John and Ruby George Easterling; one sister, Earline Rau; and one niece, Barbara Jenkins.
Mr. Easterling was retired from FLOUR and Local 861 of Lake Charles, was a veteran of WWII, and was a loving father, grandfather and friend.
The family would like to thank Rayne Guest Home, Dr. Ducote, Dr. Curtis, Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, and the St. Joseph Good Samaritans.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne

Davie Leo Meche, Sr.
Mire - Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006, at a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Catholic Church for Davie Leo Meche, Sr., 77, who died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at 4:49 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Entombment was in Assumption Cemetery in Mire.
Survivors include his wife, Joann P. Meche, of Mire; five daughters, Carolyn Thevis and husband Herbert, of Mire, Jeanette David and husband Carl, of Church Point, Dianne Hebert and husband David, of Judice, Patricia Myers and husband James, of Roberts Cove, and Charmaine Bourque and husband John, of Mire; five sons, Philip Pastorick and wife Dona, Opelousas, Kenneth Meche and wife Dale, of Mire, Bryan Meche and wife Debbie, of Roberts Cove, and Davie Meche, Jr., of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Virginia Thibodeaux, of Sulphur, and Evella Martin, of Mire; four brothers, Felton Meche, of Sulphur, Delton Meche, of Rayne, John Meche, of Mire, and Leo Meche, Mire; 22 grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michail Pastorick; parents, Lucien Meche and Ella LeBlanc Meche; and four brothers, Cleta, Cyprien, Ivy, and Freddie Meche.
A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Ruby Comeaux
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 22, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Ruby Terro Comeaux, 79, who died Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
Survivors include one son and his wife Patrick and Rebekah Oliver Gautreaux of Denham Springs.; one great-granddaughter Gabrielle Norris; four sisters Mable Duhon, Anna Belle Abshire both of Kaplan, Ruth Barton of Rayne and Olite Quin of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her husband Malton Comeaux, her parents, Maurice and Olita Gary Terro, one brother Wilfred Terro, and three sisters, Yolande Smith, Shirley Higginbotham, and Wanda Jeanise.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

April Lynn Venable
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006, in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Donnie Venable officiating, for April Lynn Venable, 23, of Carencro.
Burial was in St. John Berchman Cemetery in Cankton.
She died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at a friend’s house in Scott.
A rosary was prayed Wednesday, June 21, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was observed by the request of the family at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday until time of services on Thursday.
She is survived by her mother, Cynthia M. Powell, Carencro; father, Ricky J. Venable, Carencro; one daughter, Layson Venable, Carencro; two sisters, Cecile Venable and Crystal Venable, both of Carencro; one brother, Rocky Venable, Carencro; maternal grandparents, John M.B. and Leola Menard, Carencro; paternal grandmother, Louise Reed, Prairie Rhonde; godparents, Hilman Thibodeaux of Ossun and Geraldine Credeur, Mire; maternal great-grandmother, Lucy Menard, Duson; and paternal grandmother, Matilda Jagneaux, Duson.
She was preceded in death by her patenral grandfather, Elmo Venable; maternal great-grandfather, Willis Menard; two uncles, Lewis Menard and Randy Menard; first cousin, Jessie Menard; and one niece, Ashton Mouton.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arragements.

Clebe Anthony Gaspard
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2006, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Clebe Anthony Gaspard, 75 of Crowley, who died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at his residence.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 24, in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. Saturday with viewing until time of services on Sunday.
Burial was in St. Joseph No. 2 Cemetery in Rayne.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, June Schwartz Gaspard; four sons, David Gaspard and his wife, Murleen of Crowley, Patirck Gaspard and his wife, Rena, of Iota, Michael Gaspard of Duson, and Tony Gaspard of Crowley; two sisters, Mrs. Claude (Mary Lou) G. Boudreaux and Eyola Constantine, and spouse, Wilfred, all of Rayne; 12 grandchildren; and 14 grea-grandchildren.
Mr. Gaspard was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lelia Domingue Gaspard; one sister, Bernice Breaux; three nephews; and three nieces.
Mr. Gaspard retired after 32 years with National Food Store in Crowley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana.
Pallbearers were his four sons, who wished to carry their father to his final resting place.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Augustin “Gus” LeBlanc , Jr.
HOUSTON, TEXAS –– Military funeral services were held in Houston, Texas , from the Rosewood Funeral Home for Augustin “Gus” LeBlanc , Jr., 65, who was born and reared in Rayne.
He died at Triumph Hospital in Houston, Texas , on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at 11:20 a.m.
Visitation was observed on Monday, June 26, 2006, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, from 8 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m.
Burial was in the Houston National Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Augustin LeBlanc , III, and his wife, Lois, of Humble, Texas ; one daughter, Chrissie Darling and husband David of Dacula, Georgia; three grandsons, Christopher Darling, Augustin LeBlanc IV, and Robert Mason LeBlanc ; three brothers, Albert LeBlanc , Lafayette, Alfred LeBlanc , Rayne, and Patrick LeBlanc , Houston, Texas ; and two sisters, Mary Lane Cormier, Lafayette, and Barbara Ann Mier of Baker, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustin LeBlanc , Sr., and Alma Guidry LeBlanc ; one sister, Louise Fors; and two brothers, Lloyd “Kelly” Leblanc and Robert Grant LeBlanc .
Pallbearers were David Darling, Christopher Darling, Augustin LeBlanc IV, James Cox, Bruce Jasek and Darren Fraysur, with one honorary pallbearer, Robert Mason LeBlanc .

Leroy F. Richard
Funeral services were held Monday, June 26, 2006, at 1 p.m. in Assumption Catholic Church in Mire, with Msgr. Russell Harrington officiating, for Leroy F. Richard, 79, of Lafayette, who died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006, in the Medical Center of Southwest in Lafayette.
Visitation was observed Sunday from 12 noon until 10 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
A rosary was prayed Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in Assumption Mausoleum in Mire.
He is survived by his wife, Clara S. Richard, Lafayette; three sons, Marcus and Charnaine Richard and Michael and Becky Richard, all of Lafayette, and Patrick and Charlene Richard, Rayne; one brother, Harold Richard, Lawtell; four sisters, Terrry Dean Thibodeaux, Lawtell, Madgeline Lyons, Church Point, Dot Cormier, Lewisburg, and Clara Young, Carencro; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delphine Boudreaux and Perry Richard; and two brothers, Gerald Richard and J.P. Richard.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.
