Kathleen (Kitty) Hand
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Duhon Funeral Home in Crowley, with the Rev.Roger D. Rushing officiating, for Kathleen (Kitty) Hand, 87 of Denham Springs, who died Friday, June 9, 2006 at 5:55 a.m. in Lady of the Oaks Hospital in Baton Rouge.
Visitation was observed Sunday from 12 noon to time of services at 3 p.m.
She is survived by one son, Pat C. and Gloria Hand, Denham Springs; one sister, Irene Daniels, Sand Springs, Okla.; two grandchildren, Vicky (Roger) Rushing and Mike Hand; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Rushings, Cade Hand and Macie Hand.
Mrs. Hand wsa a resident of Crowley up until the last six years, when her health failed and she had to move closer to her son. She dearly loved Crowley and the people that lived here.
She was a member of the Parkerson Avenue Baptist Church. She never moved her letter to another church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruister C. Hand; and her parents, Frances Margaret Young and George Washington Burris.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge for all arrangements.

Elton J. Mier
A Mass of Christian Burial were held Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Mire for Elton J. Mier, age 91, who Passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006, at 6:50 a.m. at his residence in Scott.
interment was in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in Mire.
Musical selections were provided by Pat Menard, accompanied by Beth Hebert on the organ.
Mr. Mier was a native of Mire and had lived in Scott for the past 25 years. He retired from the U.S.L. Maintenance Department after 18 years of service. He was a parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott.
Survivors include one daughter, Dot Terro and her companion, Lee Thibodeaux, of Indian Bayou; two grandchildren, Vicki Terro and his husband, Zona, and Veronica Terro; four great-grandchildren, Benji Terro and his wife Kirsten, Eric Terro, Dustin Terro, and Dylan Terro; two sisters, Clarice Royer of Carver, and Willie Venable of Bosco; his adopted family from Guatemala, Carlos Divas and family; his adopted daughter, Stephanie Roy; two sisters-in-law, Adeze Guilbeaux of Scott, and Irene Welch of Carencro; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mercedes Menard Mier; his parents, Elie Mier and the former Thea Leger; one son, Rayland Mier; one brother, Abbie Mier; and one son-in-law, Darrel Terro.
A rosary was prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday and continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
The family extended special thanks to his caregivers, Sylvia Touchet, Karen Gaspard, Shirley Alleman and Stephanie Roy and to all his neighbors who provided their care and support.
Pallbearers were Vicki Terro, Benji Terro, Eric Terro, Dustin Terro, Dylan Terro and Greg Venable.

Nall James Chauvin
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley with Brother Bill Hudson officiating, for Nall James Chauvin, 71, of Rayne, who died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at 8:30 a.m. at his residence.
Burial was in the Acadian Resthaven Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Chauvin, Rayne; two daughters, Wanda Bourque, Church Point, and Lorita Sonnier, Houston, Texas ; two brothers, Charles Chauvin and Ivin Chauvin, both of Houma; two sisters, Yvette Hollis and Dolores Cloud, both of Houma; and three grandchildren, Victoria Castille, Brandon Castille and Jeromy Bourque.
Mr. Chauvin served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post 77 of Rayne.
He was employed by drilling companies, such as Penn Rod Drilling, Tiger Drilling, Cougar and Grey Wolf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordan and Virginia Samanie Chauvin; one brother, Gordan Joseph Chauvin and one sister, Una Gautreaux.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Alex Dupuis
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2006, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Alex Dupuis, 91, who died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006 at his residence.
interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery #2 Mausoleum.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Rosella Alleman Dupuis, of Rayne; one daughter, Gerldine Arabie and her husband, Tom, of Lafayette; one sister, Gladys Harson, of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Chris Trahan, of Lafayette, Gordon Trahan and wife Lisa, of Baton Rouge, Lawrence Trahan and wife Marsha, of Lafayette, Phil Trahan and wife Marla, of Lafayette, Cindy Champagne and husband James, of Lafayette, Michael Trahan and wife Bessie, of New Bern, North Carolina; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dupuis was preceded in death by his parents, Leodice and Agatha Mier Dupuis; five brothers, Leroy, Vincent, Wilfred, Kermit Dupuis and one infant brother; three sisters, Odile Baronet, Ematile Comeaux Babineaux and Verna Picard; one son-in-law, Wilson J. Trahan.
Mr. Dupuis was a member of the St. Joseph Society for 42 years, the Confraternity of the Third Order of Mt. Carmel, Good Sam Club, Friends International, an honoree member of the American Legion of Rayne and a former member of the Rayne Riders Club.
After retiring as owner of Riceland Hatchery for 25 years, Mr. Dupuis and his wife enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the U.S..
Pallbearers will be Chris Trahan, Gordon Trahan, Lawrence Trahan, Phil Trahan, Jason Trahan and James Champagne.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his sitters, Doris, Rita, Laura and Penny, and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their care and compassion of the elderly.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Gene Autry Credeur
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 12, 2006, at 2 p.m. in St. Theresa Church in Duson, with Father Martin Leonards officiating, for Gene Autry Credeur, 66, of Rayne, who died Monday, June 12, 2006, at his residence.
Burial was in St. Theresa Cemetery.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Thibodeaux, Duson, and Majorie Trahan, Judice; and five brothers, Delton Credeur, Lake Charles, Oran Credeur and Joseph Credeur, both of Duson, and Raymond Credeur and Andy Credeur, both of Carencro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Medoris Cormier and Alvilla Credeur; two brothers, John and Richard Credeur; and one sister, Emma Jean Gary.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ruby “Pop Pop” Doga
A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Mr. Ruby “Pop Pop” Doga on Monday, June 5, 2006, in the Duhon Funeral Home chapel in Rayne.
Father Buddy Breaux was the celebrant with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 in Rayne, under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home.
Mr. Doga was 79-years-old and Passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2006, at 8:55 p.m. in his home in Rayne after a lengthy illness.
The family requested visitation Sunday from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until time of service. A rosary was recited Sunday night at 7 p.m. in the Rayne chapel.
Ruby Doga was born September 18, 1926, in Bosco to Lorese Douget and Eva Breaux. During World War II, he served in the Navy with the 75th U.S. Naval Construction Battalion and the 61st U.S. Naval Construction Battalion, with service in the Asiatic Pacific American Theatre, which had a part in the Philippine Liberation. Released under honorable conditions in July of 1947, he came home to Rayne to marry Frances Mary Turquis on May 8, 1948.
He was retired from the Department of Transportation and Development.
In his younger years, Ruby was well-known in the rooster fighting circuit and was a former director of the Frog Capital Boxing Club. He and Frances spent many weekends camping in local campgrounds and visiting with friends.
He leaves a legacy of two children, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife of 58 years, Frances T. Doga; his daughter, Norma, and her husband, Mike Baronne of Greenwell Springs; one son, Donnie, and his wife Tammye Doga of Rayne; granddaughter, Alyssa Simoneaux and husband, Kevin of Henry; grandson, Blaine Smith, and wife Regina of Crowley; granddaughter, Emily McGee, and husband Dustin of Ville Platte, grandson Scott Doga and granddaughter Katie Doga, both of Rayne; a brother, John V. Doguet of Rayne; three sisters, Gertie LaFleur, of Eunice, Jane Hebert of Parks and Berndadette Broussard of Carencro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorese and Eva Doguet; and two brothers, Paul Jean-Batiste and Ivie Doguet.
He was a loved man and a loving man who enjoyed spending time with his family and numerous friends.
After a debilitating stroke in 1996, he, regrettably, gave up camping but continued to entertain his many visitors right up to the the end. He was known to the younger generation and his grandchildren as “Pop Pop”.

Allen Roy Navarre, Sr.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2006, in the funeral home chapel, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Allen Roy Navarre, Sr., 76, of Rayne, who died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at 9 p.m. in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
Visitation was observed on Wednesday, from 3 to 10 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of burial at 2 p.m.
A rosary was recited Wednesday, May 31, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by five daughters and their spouses, Joan and Johnny Richard, Eunice, Emela Pitre, Indian Bayou, Marlene Fricks, Crowley, Patricia Navarre, Rayne, and Eva Guidry, Iota; four sons and their spouses, Edward and Kathy Navarre Mark and Bonnie Navarre, and Larry and Deloses Navarre, all of Rayne, and Roy and Faye Navarre, Crowley; one stepdaughter and her spouse, Diane and Randall Burton, Evangeline; two brothers, Emerson Navarre, Orange, Texas , and James Navarre, Rayne; one sister, Gladys Freeman, Rayne; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Navarre was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Boudreaux Navarre; one granddaughter, Maryann Thibodeaux; parents, Mrs. Elizabeth Scnexnider and Mr. John Navarre; five sisters, Rose Goudeaux, Mildred Goudeaux, Hazel Langley, Lillimay Sataman, and Lou Murphy; and three brothers, Weday, Dewey, and Wallace Navarre.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Rosa Mae Meche Robichaux
Rosa Mae Meche Robichaux, 88, a native of Rayne, and resident of Raceland, died May 31, 2006, at 7 a.m.
Visitation was observed from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Samart Funeral Home in Mathews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2006, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with burial at the church cemetery.
Her daughters, Viola Fox Gaudet, Joyceline Robichaux Dominique, and sons, Herman Robichaux, Jr., and Maxie Robichaux, and a sister, Alberta Meche Chamberlain, survive her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Odele Meche and Lucille Mouton Meche; her husband, Herman Robichaux, Sr.; sister, Helen Meche Knight; and brothers, Sonny, Junior, Cecil and Clinton Meche. She was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Raceland.
She was a charter member and volunteer worker of the Raceland Sr. Citizens Center, member of the Raceland VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and a volunteer helping at the VA Hospital in New Orleans. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, riding her exercise bike, and watching football and baseball games on TV. She was an avid Saints and LSU fan. She was a proud grandmother and a hard working volunteer. She will be greatly missed.
Samart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
