Arleen Guidry
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2005, in Our Mother of Mercy Church, with Father Richard Wagner, S.S.J. officiating, for Arleen Guidry, 64, of Rayne, who died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at 4:35 a.m. in University Medical Center in Lafayette.
Burial was in Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery in Rayne.
She is survived by her husband, Manuel Guidry, Sr., Rayne; two daughters and spouses, Betty Henny, Rayne, and Gloria and Richard Smith, Kelleen, Texas ; two sons and their spouses, Manuel and and Loria Guidry, Jr., Rayne, and Charles Philatta Guidry, Sr., Duson; her mother, Delia Julien., Rayne; one sister, Rose Goodall, Rayne; four brothers, Wallace Gallison, Sidney Julien and Sammy Julien, all of Rayne, and Bernice Moore, Houston, Texas ; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Arleen was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Breaux; her father, Eusteen Duplechain; and one brother, Roger Julien.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arragements.

Joseph “Jimmy” Lirette
A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed, Joseph “Jimmy” Lirette Passed away on Nov. 18, 2005, at 2 p.m. after complications from cancer at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.
A resident of Duson and a native of Houma, he was born on August I5, 1937. He was retired from the U. S. Navy after 20 years of service, where he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star of Valor. He also had a love of music which later culminated in his establishing Le Band Passe Partout and The Beau Gator Band with which he won numerous CFMA awards.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Lea Broussard Lirette; their three children, Debora Lirette Cox of Duson, Diana Lirette Napp and husband Jeffrey Paul Napp of New Orleans; and Donald Lee Lirette and wife Angela Vidrine Lirette of Eunice; nine grandchildren, April Nicole Lirette of Duson, Haley Renee Cox of Duson, Daniel Joseph Lirette of Lancaster, Ky, Evan Alan Cox of Arnaudville, Bethany Katilyn Lirette and Lauren Gabrielle Lirette of Eunice; step-granddaughter, Brittney Lee Napp of New Orleans, Hannah Elizabeth Lirette, Jonah Edward Lirette and Christan Camille Lirette, all of Eunice; and one foster brother, Rex Champagne and wife Jane Champagne of Judice. He was also survived by numerous extended family.
He was preceded in death by his foster parents, Avie and Constance Sonnier Cormier of Judice. He was also preceded by his mother-in-law, Nita Mouton Broussard, and his father-in-law, Stanislaus “Bruce” Broussard, both of Rayne.
Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne was entrusted with Mr. Lirette’s cremation and the family will have a small private memorial. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society P.0, Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73120-1718 in Mr. Lirette’s name.
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but to all them that love his appearing. Reverend Mack Earl Crayton, Jr.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Star Light Baptist Church for Rev. Mack Earl Crayton, Jr., 65, who completed his earthly pilgrimage on Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at 7:07 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Services were conducted by Rev. Willie Maynard, Jr., president of the Seventh District Baptist Association. Entombment was in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Rev. Mack Earl Crayton, Jr. was born Dec. 24, 1939 in Melrose, LA to the late Mack Earl Crayton, Sr. and Aldorsey Williams Crayton.
Upon graduating from St. Matthew High School in Natchitoches Parish, he enrolled in Southern University in Baton Rouge, to further his education. Having acquired a great appreciation for the field of cosmetology, he also enrolled in Craytonia’s Beauty School where he was taught by his brother, Belton, founder of the first black owned school of cosmetology in the city of Baton Rouge.
Because of his strong desire to serve his country, he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged April 30, 1968. After his tour of duty, Mack returned to Baton Rouge, where he was licensed and became a cosmetology instructor while working with his brother, Ferguson, and operating his own salon in Lafayette.
Mack obtained a bachelor of science degree from Southern University and his theological degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary after he professed his calling to the gospel ministry in 1975. He continued studying at various other seminaries from which he obtained degrees. For a span of thirty years, he served the following churches: St. James Baptist Church of Lafayette; St. Mary Congregational Church of Abbeville; Faith Hope Baptist Church of Abbeville; Greater New Hope Baptist Church of Baldwin; St. Matthew Baptist Church of Gueydan and Star Light Baptist Church of Rayne, where he remained until his demise. He was known as a builder wherever he served.
He rendered many years of loyal and devoted service to the Seventh District Baptist Association, having served as a knowledgeable Bible instructor, both Recording and General Secretary of the Association, Assistant and later Dean of the Congress of Christian Education. His God-given zeal for his work in the District was evidenced by his outstanding performance and faithfulness in these several capacities. Above all, he loved the brethren.
In addition to his pastorate, he discovered a need for more pastoral care for the sick, bereaved and hurting. In an effort to serve more competently, he completed studies in Clinical Pastoral Education and became the first African-American Chaplain at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center where he gave untiring and compassionate service for five years.
As a member of the Lafayette community, he was affiliated with many fraternal, social, civic and political organizations. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. His generous spirit always prevailed in his many acts of kindness toward others.
Mourning his passing, yet cherishing his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Gloria M. Dureseau Crayton of Lafayette; one brother, Rev. Fred Crayton and wife, Rosemary of Baton Rouge; four other sisters-in-law, Melvina Crayton of Baton Rouge, Bobbie Crayton of Shreveport, Velma D. Hendrix and Gwendolyn F. Dureseau of Melville and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Belton Crayton, Dave Crayton, Ervis Crayton, Damon Crayton and Ferguson Crayton; and sisters, Pearl Lee Wilson and Effie Vercher.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at Syrie Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and continued at Star Light Baptist Church, 206 Webb Street in Rayne, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 pm. Visitation resumed Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at Star Light Baptist Church at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Syrie Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette.

Mary Davis
Funeral services for Ms. Mary Verlie Davis, 84, will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in Starlight Baptist Church, 206 Webb St., Rayne.
Burial will be in Rayne Protestant Cemetery.
Ms. Davis, a resident of Rayne, died on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at her residence. She was a member of Starlight Baptist Church in Rayne.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Starlight Baptist Church.
Ford and Joseph Funeral Home, of Opelousas, is in charge of arrangements.

Wallace John Boudreaux, Sr.
Funeral services were held on Friday, November 11, 2005, at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Wallace John Boudreaux Sr., 85, who died Tuesday, November 8, 2005, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
The Very Reverend Timothy Richard, pastor of St. Edmond’s Church, was the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and conducted the funeral service.
Wallace is survived by six daughters, Wanda B. Mathews and her husband Rick, Melody Boudreaux, Jolita “Jo” Boudreaux, Wendy B. Babineaux and her husband Roy, Laurie B. Broussard and her husband Percy “PJ”, and Mandy B. Jeane and her husband Todd; one son Wallace J. Boudreaux Jr.; one sister Atrelle Champagne; fifteen grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Jenkins Boudreaux; his parents, Wallace Sydney Boudreaux and Eunice Marie Richard, and one grandaughter, Sarah Butcher.
Wallace was a native of Rayne, but spent most of his life in Lafayette, Louisiana . He retired as vice president of the Insurance Department at Home Savings Bank, where he was employed for many years.
He was a great son, wonderful brother, a beloved spouse to his late wife Grace as well as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He served his country in the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
A Rosary was prayed on Thursday November 10, 2005, at 7:30 p.m. at Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.
Visitation was on Thursday, November 10, 2005, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Friday, November 11, 2005, from 8:00 a.m. till time of funeral services.
Pallbearers were Chad Mathews, Joel Mathews, Joshua Butcher, Jeremy Jeane, Johnny Boudreaux, Rick Mathews, and Roy Babineaux.

Ouida Istre
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley, with Father Matthew P. Higginbotham officiating, for Ouida Istre, 83, of Rayne, who died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, in the Rayne Guest Home.
Burial was in the Acadian Resthaven Mausoleum in Crowley.
A rosary was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was observed from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Monday.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann LeBlanc and Joyce Jeanis, both of Crowley; one son, A.J. Istre of Kaplan; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Ms. Istre was preceded in death by her husband, Ceaser Istre; parents, Alfred Morgan and Teszae Richard Morgan; two brothers, Lloyd and J.C. Morgan; and two sisters, Susan Bordes and Virginia Romero.

Sandra Boutin
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, in the funeral home chapel, with Father Buddy Breaux officiating, for Sandra Boutin, 51 of Lafayette, who died at 3:40 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at home.
A rosary was recited Friday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was observed Friday at noon until time of services on Monday.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Boutin, Lafayette; one daughter, Eva Daigle, Lafayette; one son, Jerome Wilderson, Lafayette; four stepdaughters, Melissa, Celestine, and Wendy Boutin, all of Lafayette, and Robbie LeBlanc , Duson; three stepsons, Kevin, Louis, Jr., and Mark Boutin, all of Lafayette; two sisters, Willie Mae Jagneaux, Carencro, and Barbara Broussard, Lafayette; two brothers, Dale Daigle, Lafayette, and Bud Daigle, Scott; one God-given sister, Charlene Romero, Lafayette; one God-given brother, A.J. Romero; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Mairtiere and Willie Bill Daigle; one brother, Ray Allen Daigle; and two stepsons, Brete Bolton and Kelly Dean Boutin.
Some of her most precious moments were when she make her weekend of Cursillo # 197, always living life to the fullest and enjoying every moment, Her life with always be remembered by those who loved her.
Pallbearers were Alton Boutin, Tiffany Bergeron, Carol Jagneaux, Sherry Jagneaux, Chase Krawchuk and Eva Daigle.

Elaine Gaudet Barrilleaux
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, in the chapel of the Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne, with Father John Deeuw officiating, for Elaine Gaudet Barrilleaux, 91, of Rayne, who died at 1:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, in the Rayne Guest Home.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the chapel.
Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Carencro.
Visitation was observed Monday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Wunstel of Gonzales and Myrna Jirard, Scott; two sisters, Margaruite Gaudet and Carrinne Gaudet, both of Gretna; one brother, Lloyd Gaudet, Houma; one granddaughter; four grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Barrilleaux is formerly from Lafayette, La.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Whitney (Mr. B) Barrilleaux; her parents, Zoe Bergeron and Alfred Gaudet; three sisters, Noella and Beatrice Gaudet, and Mary Ann Rosine; four brothers, Guy, Lynn, Garland and Russell Gaudet.
Pallbearers were Chris Wunstel, Gregory Jirard, Douglas Jirard, Jeff Sonnier, Herman Wunstel, and Russell Jirard.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.
