Preston Joseph Duhon
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, in Roberts Cove Church of Christ, with the Rev. Wayne Duhon officiating, for Preston Joseph Duhon, 80, of Rayne, who died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital
Burial was in Ky Hebert Cemetery in Roberts Cove.
Visitation was observed Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Preston (Mary Nell) Duhon of Rayne; and two sons, Richard Preston Duhon, Pineville; and Randal Paul Duhon, Crowley.
Mr. Duhon was married to his lovely wife for 58 years. He was the owner and operator of Preston Duhon Auto Body Shop for 40 years before retiring at the age of 75. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and he loved to cook.
He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was member of American Post 15 and the VFW Post of Crowley.
He was a member of the Roberts Cove Church of Christ and a long time elder. He will be sadly missed.
Mr. Duhon was preceded in death by his parents, Simeon and Pamela Comeaux Duhon and also two brothers, Remi and Percy Duhon.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mary Jane Breaux
Funeral services were held Monday. Sept. 11, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mary Jane Breaux, 69, who died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006 at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Survivors include five brothers and their wives, Leroy and Ethel Breaux, Chester Breaux, Roland and Grace Breaux all of Rayne, Curley and Sally Breaux and James and Diane Guidry of Baton Rouge; one sister, Rita Picard of Sulphur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Aline Guidry Breaux; one brother, Junior J. Breaux; sister-in-law, Helen C. Breaux; and brother-in- law, Dave Picard.
Visitation was Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until services.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery #1 under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Brother Jack Tanner
LAKE ARTHUR –– A celebration of the life of Brother Jack Tanner was held on Saturday, September 9, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Lake Arthur.
Visitation for Brother Jack was held from 2:30 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8, at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur and the celebration of Brother Jack’s life continued at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the First Baptist Church at Lake Arthur. Services began at 2:00 p.m. Brother Jack was laid to rest at the Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Arthur.
Brother Jack was born on April 8, 1925, in Crowley, and Passed away to his heavenly home at 3:35 a.m., Friday, Sept. 8, at Christus Saint Patrick’s Hospital in Lake Charles.
Brother Jack spent 3 years in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Nashville serving in the South Pacific. It was during that time in the Navy that Brother Jack felt and answered the call of God to preach. Upon discharge from the Navy he attended the Lake Arthur Camp meetings where he met Miss Joy Durapau and soon there after Jack asked her hand in marriage. They were married on June 3, 1947.
Jack and Joy then attended and graduated from Clark Memorial College in Newton, MS and Louisiana College in Pineville. It was in their senior year at Louisiana College that Pineville First Baptist Church asked him to pastor the Pelican Drive Mission in Pineville. Thus began Brother Jack’s 51 years of pastoring and serving the churches in Central, Southeast and Southwest Louisiana .
Brother Jack was an avid sports fan especially of L.S.U., New Orleans Saints, South Cameron High School and the Atlanta Braves Baseball team.
Brother Jack was preceded in death by his forty -six year-old daughter, Danya Tanner Banks who Passed away in a fatal plane crash just a year ago.
Brother Jack leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 59 years Joy Durapau Tanner. He is also survived by a son and his wife, David and Donna Tanner of Westlake; a grandson, V.J. and his wife Stephannie Tanner, another grandson Patrick Banks of Atlanta Beach, N.C. Jack was also blessed with 2 great-grandchildren. Brother Jack leaves a sister, Elaine Riggs of Crowley. He is also survived by a special “daughter” Stacy and her husband Kevin Armstrong and a son-in-law of 25 years Mark Banks and wife Linda Banks of North Carolina.
Having ministered, lived in and taken part in sports activities and social events in Cameron Parish for more than 20 years, Brother Jack claims kinship to all those wonderful people.
Officiating at the celebration for the life of Brother Jack was Dr. David Savage, Rev. Ernest Walker and Rev. Claude Fontenot. Larry and Harriette Dyson led the music program.
Pallbearers were V.J. Tanner, Patrick Banks, Lee Nunez, Douglas “Mac” Haynie, Kevin J. Armstrong, and Raphiel Heard,
Honorary Pallbearers were Allan Hartwell, Ernest Taber, Jackie Stagg, Bill McDonald, Bob McDonald, Columbus Hanks, Bobby Chapman, Rene’ Broussard, Raymond Hanks, Sono Savoie and Dick Thornton.

Roselyn H. Dempsey
Funeral services were held Friday, September 8, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, for Roselyn Harmon Dempsey who died Wednesday September 6, 2006, at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Visitation was observed Thursday September 7, 2006, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until services.
Burial was in the Rayne Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Charles Wayne Bingham
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Charles Wayne Bingham Sr., 59 who died Thursday Sept. 7, 2006, at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Johnson Bingham of Rayne; one son and his wife, Charles Wayne “Chase” and Melissa Bingham Jr. of Gretna; his mother, Wille Marcelle Bingham of San Angelo, Texas ; two brothers, Jesse Dale, and Gary Neal Bingham, both of San Angelo Texas ; and two grandchildren, Brendan Pillow and Samantha Bingham, both of Gretna.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Bingham; his father, Arthur Charles Bingham; and one brother, Lesley Bingham.
Mr. Bingham’s family would like to thank Dr. James Cole, Dr. Jody Rosson, and Dr. Henry Kaufman; in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Servants of the Cross P.O. Box 3054 Mc Allen, Texas 78501.
Mr. Bingham was an avid fisherman and camper he was also a Vietnam Veteran.
Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne is in charge of arrangements.

Irvin Chester Dugas
Funeral services will be held Thursday Sept. 14, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson for Irvin Chester Dugas, 79, who died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at his residence in Duson.
Survivors include his wife, Dacie Alleman Dugas of Duson; one brother, Calvin Dugas of Duson; one sister, Ruby Credeur of Rayne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters and his parents, Cyrus and Ita Dugas; and Thomas Canon LeJeune, special friend.
Pallbearers will be Mark Alleman, Nick, Kyle, and Kipp Duplechine, Michael Lejeune, and Allen Dale Dugas;
Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie, Louis, Dion, and Jody Alleman, Jason Dugas, Carl Janice, and Eric Burken.
Visitation was held in the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Parish Hall in Duson, Wednesday from !0:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until service.
Burial will be in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne. Kerney Leo LeBlanc

Kerney Leo LeBlanc
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Kerney Leo LeBlanc , 70, of New Caney, Texas , who died at 6:34 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, in Nexies Speciality Hospital in Shanadora, Texas .
Burial was in Assumption Cemetery in Mire.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was observed Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn LeBlanc , New Caney, Texas ; four daughters, Phyllis Parrish, Port Arthur, Texas , Mitzi Woods , Nederland, Texas , Deedee White , New Caney, Texas , and Paula Weston, Spring, Texas ; two sons, Barney LeBlanc , Groves, Texas , and Charles White , Houston, Texas ; one brother, Kermit LeBlanc , Rayne; three sisters, Lesie Mae Hanks, Lawtell, Inez Johnson , Rayne, and Patsy Comeaux, Rayne; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. LeBlanc was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Varlian LeBlanc and Celema Thibodeaux LeBlanc ; one brother, Preston LeBlanc ; and two sisters, Gladys Hoffpauir and Virginia Foreman.
Mr. LeBlanc loved to fish, garden, and listen to Country and Cajun music. He also loved cooking and was loved by everyone.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Daniel Arthur Hazlett
Daniel Arthur Hazlett, 58, Passed away September 10, 2006, at his residence. He served our country in the United States Navy as a Signalman and was stationed in Mayport, FL for 4 years in 1967.
He was also a Science Teacher with the Duval County School Board for 30 years and a member of the Duval Teachers United. He taught at Beaulah Beal Elementary, Brookview Elementary, Landmark Middle and Oceanway Middle School. Daniel also was a member of Reef Sounders, the Jackson ville Offshore Sport Fishing Club, and the Six Points Hunting Club in Georgia. He attended Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, FL, graduated from University of North FL in 1975 with a B.S. in Education, and was working towards his M.S. in Education. He also fulfilled his life long dream of owning his own dive shop called "Scuba Cove Adventures". He was a mentor of fishing, diving and hunting.
Family members include his loving wife of 35 years, Karen Jones Hazlett; daughter, Kathryn Hazlett Simpson and son-in-law, Sean of Orlando; son, Christopher Hazlett; grandchildren, Alyssa and Lindsey Simpson; brothers, Ronald and Timmy Hazlett of Rayne; sisters, Karen Cormier, Cynthia Hazlett, Bonnie Demette, Deborah Hazlett of Rayne, Pam Miller of Belle Chase, and Angela Stutes of Millington, TN.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles E. and Bernice M. Hazlett and his brother, Michael L. Hazlett.
Our beloved Captain Dan left behind a thousand friends, a thousand tears and a thousand memories.
A Memorial Service was held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2006. in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, with Reverend Napoleon Karr officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to J.M.I ( Jackson ville Marine Institute) , 13375 Beach Blvd., Jackson ville, FL, 32246.
In honor of Captain Dan’s request, visitors were asked to dress in "Jimmy Buffet" style attire.

Ouida Marie Leon Hanks
Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2006, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Ouida Marie Leon Hanks, 82, who died Friday, September 1, 2006, at her residence in Crowley.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn Vincent and husband Calvin, of Crowley, Jacalyn Myers and husband Ronnie, of Crowley, and Darlene Hanks and fiancé Gilbert Garza, Crowley; nine grandchildren, Bridget Cormier and companion Wilbert Istre, Donna Hanks and husband C.J., Ramona Vincent, Emilie Thibodeaux and husband Toby, Philip Myers and wife Jessica, Paige Myers, Kisha Bruner and husband Jesse, Christopher Kelehan, and Tara Kelehan; nine great grandchildren, Taylor Myers, Harlie Thibodeaux, Trevor Trimble, Myra Hanks, Maddox Hanks, Bradley Cormier, Devon Valdiviez, Kaylie Myers, and Emma Myers; two brothers, David Leon and wife Hazel Spell Leon, of El Paso, Texas , and Dennis Leon, of Port Arthur, Texas ; and one sister, Cora Roberts, of Rayne.
She was preceded in death by husband, Emile Hanks; parents, Louis Leon and Marie Hernandez Leon; three grandchildren, Mona Vincent, Bryson Thibodaux, and Derek Kelehan, Jr.; six brothers, Oran "Tit" Leon, Lawrence "Toot" Leon, Wallace Leon, Wilton Leon, Voorhies Leon, and Louis Leon, Jr.; and one sister, Mrs. Vincent "Yolande Leon" Blanchard.
A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Pallbearers were Taylor Myers, Christopher Kelehan, C.J. Hanks, Toby Thibodeaux, Philip Myers, and Jesse Bruner.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.
