Willie Joseph Meche
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Rayne, with Father Paul Thibodeaux officiating, for Willie Joseph Meche, 52, of Church Point, who died at 12:38 a.m. in Opelousas General Hospital.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in Arceneaux Cemetery in Rayne.
He is survived by three daughters, Amy Meche, of Church Point, Carissa Meche and Rebecca Meche, both of Rayne; two sons, Nicholas Meche and Willie Joe Cochran, both of Church Point; his mother, Agnes Meche, Rayne; two brothers, Leo Meche, Jr., and Milton Mire, both of Mire; three sisters, Lee Verdie Cormier, Bernita Benoit and Linda Comeaux, all of Rayne; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Meche was prceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Faul; and father, Leo Meche, Sr.
Mr. Meche was employed for Fastorq in the sales department.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Frances G. Wilridge
Funeral services were held at 12 noon Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Maryland Chapel C.M.E.in Branch, with Rev. Banks officiating, for Francis G. Wilridge, 92, of Church Point, who died Monday, April 12, 2004, at 7:15 p.m. in the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.
Burial was in the Maryland Chapel C.M.E. Church Cemetery in Branch.
She is survived by three daughters, Florida Gibson and Orelia Leger, both of Church Point, and Linda Landry, Lake Charles; three sons, Vorise R. Willridge, Crowley, Lawrene Wilirdge, Jr., Branch. and Percy L. Wilridge, Lake Charles; one brother, Frank Guidry, Church Point; two sisters, Leola Guidry, Orange, Texas , and Irella Francis, Crowley; one stepbrother Alfred Nixon, Beaumont, Texas ; and one step-sister, Laura Nixon, California; 29 grand children; 59 great-grandchilden; and 14 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferol and Sarah Guidry; her husband, Lawrence Wilridge, Jr.; one brother, three children; and one great-grandson.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Paul Michael Lewis
Duson –– Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, for Paul Michael Lewis, 41, who died Saturday, April 10, 2004 in Carencro, Louisiana .
interment was in St. Benedict de Moor Cemetery in Duson. Monsignor Ronald Broussard officiated the services.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Mae Narcisse Lewis of Carencro; three sons Jordan Lewis of Houston, Texas , Jacoby and DeMarcus Narcisse of Carencro; three daughters, Deriee Zeno of Houston, Texas , Cieara Narcisse and Erianne Thibodeaux, both of Carencro; his mother, Hazel Angelle Lewis of Lafayette; three brothers, Alcide Lewis Jr. Carl (Sandra) Lewis, Roland (Dana) Lewis, all of Duson; seven sisters, Barbara (Charles) Davis, Dera (Vernon) Broussard, Earlene (Andrew) Lewis, Rosaline (Lawrence Jr.) Alexander, all of Duson, Mary (O’Neal) Woods of Carencro, Ledia Lewis of Houston, Texas , and Samantha (Harold) Lewis of Lafayette; his mother-in-law, Rose Narcisse Carencro; father -in-law, Joseph Narcisse Sr. of Lafayette; and his stepfather, Harold Declouet, Carencro; four sisters-in-law, and four brothers-in-law.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his father, Alcide Lewis Sr.; his brother, Joseph C. Lewis; and one brother-in-law.
Kinchen Funeral Home of Lafayette was in charge of the arrangements.

Gertie Broussard Monceaux
Funeral services were held at St Michael’s Catholic Church at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 18 2004, for Gertie Broussard Monceaux, 81, of Crowley, who died on Thursday, April 15, 2004, at her home. Mrs. Monceaux was formerly from Lyons Point and Oberlin. Rev. Gary Schexnayder officiated.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley. Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Monceaux is survived by her children, two daughters, Linda M. Lejeune of Lake Charles, Deanna M. Reeves and her husband Tommy of Lafayette; and one son, Randell J. Monceaux and wife Natalie of Crowley; fourteen grandchildren, Craig Lejeune, Michelle Simmons, Jacqueline Hamilton, Monique Shaw, AngelIe Durio, Christopher Reeves, Brian Reeves, Kelly Reeves, Randell Monceaux, II, Jared B. Monceaux, Jana Lynn Monceaux, Jada Renee’ Monceaux, Nicole Monceaux, Chad Monceaux, fourteen great-grandchildren, Blake DeBarge, Ashleigh DeBarge, Tabatha Beach, Christy Eaves, Cindy Willis, Cameron Durio, Blame Durio, Taylor Shaw, Sara Shaw, Connor Monceaux, Caroline Monceaux, Jack Thomas Monceaux, William Monceaux and Kendyll Monceaux; and a great-great grandchild, Caleb DeBarge. She is also survived by six sisters, Annie Mae Dubois of Kaplan, Callie Fruge’, Ella Spell, Hazel Hebert of Crowley, Angel Miller of Iota and Ann Hebert of Rayne.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Augustine and Azetile Broussard; her husband, Percy Lee Monceaux; and two sons, Joseph Kenneth Ray Monceaux and Steve Anthony Monceaux, Prior to moving to Crowley from Oberlin, Mrs. Monceaux was active in St. Joan of Arc Altar Society, Choir and CCD teacher for many years. Recently she was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and a member of Come Lord Jesus Program. She and her six sisters met weekly to pray the rosary.
After retirement from farming in 1979, Mr. and Mrs. Monceaux worked with the
Louisiana Lions Club as manager and driver of the glaucoma and diabetic mobile unit.
Pallbearers were Craig Lejeune, Chris Reeves, Brian Reeves, Randell Monceaux, II, Jared Monceaux, Chad Monceaux, and Blake DeBarge.

Mildred Keffer
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2004, in St.Berchman Church in Cankton, with Father Mario Romero officiating, for Mildred Keffer, 84, of Walker, who died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at 4 a.m.in Baton Rouge General Hospital.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Duhon Funeral Home chapel here.
Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery in Grand Coteau.
She is survived by one brother, C.J. Dupuis, Carencro; one sister, Pearl Briscoe, Church Point; dearest friends, Abbey and Bobby Gauthier and Tina Miller, all of Baton Rouge; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Chuck) Keffer; two sons, Michael and Wayne Powell; her parents, Isabelle Guidry and Frank Dupuis; two brothers, Valrie (Tee Bonne) and Orey (Pete)Dupuis.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Curtis Simon
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in the funeral home chapel, the Pastor Don Labro officiating, for Curtis Simon, 64, of Church Point, who died Monday, April 19, 2004, at 2:15 a.m. in the LSUMedical Center in Lafayette.
Burial was in St. Edmund Cemetery in Branch.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Simon, ChurchPoint; four sons and their wives, Trent and Catherine Simon, Lafayette, Ricky and Dawn Gaultier and Richard and Betty Gaultier, all of Church Point, and Brent Granger, Mamou; one daughter, Emmy Guidry, Church Point; four grandchildren, Summer Matte, Shanna Gaultier, Cody Gaultier, and Lance Gaultier; and three sisters, Jo Ann Korego, New Orleans, and Patricia Deville and Susan Simon, both of Crowley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Trahan and Joe Simon; and one sister, Catherine Geer.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. VFW Post of Crowley provided military honors.

Johnny Boudreaux
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Mr. Rodless Leleux officiating, for Johnny Boudreaux, 55, of Lafayette, who died at 2:10 . Tuesday, April 20, in OUr Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center of Lafayette.
A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery.
He is survived by five brothers, John Hoffpauir, Gueydan, Eddie Hoffpauir; of Colorado, Dwight Hoffpauir, Pasadena, Texas , James Richard, Church Point, and Jack Hoffpauir, Lyons Point; two sisters, Aline Ann Stanton, Crowley, and Dolores Istre, Church Point; a companion, Peggy Peggy, Crowley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangments.

Bertha Doguet
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004, in St.Joseph Church in Iota, with Father David Broussard officiating, for Bertha Doguet, 85, of Rayne, who died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at 7:15 a.m. in the Rayne Guest Home.
A rosary was prayed at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota.
She is survived by one brohter, Floyd A. Potia, Egan; two nephews, Preston Dogua, Rayne and Floyd Potia, Egan; and two nieces, Jenelle Hebert, Iota, and Merilyn Faye Credeur, Rayne.
Ms. Doguet was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Sebastienne Fritch Douget.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of arrangements.

Reginald Louis Zaunbrecher, Sr.
“How blessed are the children who in their father see,
The tender father-love of God, and find their way to Thee.”
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. , Saturday, April 10, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Reginald Louis Zaunbrecher, Sr. ,77, who died at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Entombment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2 Mausoluem.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marion Trahan Zaunbrecher, of Rayne; four children, Elaine Z. Schiller, married to Stephen of Olympia, Wash., Christopher L. Zaunbrecher, married to Peggy Boudreaux, of Rayne, Reginald L. “Dusty” Zaunbrecher, Jr., of Jackson , Wyo., and Lester J. “Jody” Zaunbrecher, of Lafayette; grandchildren, Stephanie Schiller, of Olympia, Wash., Nicholas Schiller, of Portland, Ore., Tina Z. Mayeux and husband Jude, of Rayne, Cicely Zaunbrecher, of Lafayette, Casey Zaunbrecher, of Houston, Texas , Claire Zaunbrecher, of Houston, Texas ., Joseph Alexander, of Lafayette, and Eve Marie Marie Zaunbrecher, of Lafayette.
Mr. Zaunbrecher was a lifelong resident of Acadia Parish and a descendent of the German community which settled at Roberts Cove in 1881.
Following World War II, he followed a career in the oilfield as a directional drilling engineer in the Gulf of Mexico, Africa and elsewhere.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, serving in the United States Army, 158th Infantry Regiment (Arizona National Guard) know as the “Bushmasters”. He saw active service in the Phillipine Island during the war, and after with the Allied Occupying Forces in Japan.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed from 9a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time Saturday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Irvin Louis Sonnier
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2004, at a service in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Irvin Louis Sonnier, 70, who died April 7, 2004 at his residence.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
Pastor Todd Menard of Family Life Church in Scott conducted the funeral services, and Brad Anderson provided the music.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn Sonnier, of Rayne; three daughters, Marlene Gautreaux and husband Jeffery, Debbie Prejean and husband Chad, Angel Meche and husband Chris, all of Rayne; three step-daughters, Jean Comeaux and husband Steve, Sr., Pearl Owens and husband Carroll, Gloria Soileaux and husband Kenneth, all of Rayne; one step-son, Daniel Romero and wife Pat, of Rayne; one sister, Melba Lavergne, of Sunset; seven brothers, Aaron Sonnier, of Lafayette, Harris Sonnier, of Rayne, Henry Sonnier, of Scott, Melvin Sonnier, of Mire, Nelson Sonnier, of Lafayette, Donald Sonnier, of Duson, Nathan Sonnier, of Cecilia; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel and Odile Sonnier; two sisters, Rita Menard and Masil Duhon; and two brothers, Harold Sonnier and Oran Sonnier.
A rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.
