Ella Mae Denaise Hebert
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2004, in the Funeral Home Chapel for Ella Mae Denaise Hebert, 75, of Rayne, who died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2004, in the Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 in Rayne.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Hebert, Belle Chase, and Bryan Hebert, Rayne; one daughter, Patsy Cart, Rayne; one sister, Laura Frederick, Abbeville; one grandchild, Scott Cart, Baton Rouge.
Mrs. Hebert was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hebert; and her parents, Mr. Adam Denaise and Mrs. Gladys Broussard Hebert.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Rebecca Deshotel
MIDLAND ––Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Donald Pousson officiating, for Rebecca Deshotel, 38, of Midland, who died Sunday, April 11, 2004, in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
A rosary was said Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Burial was in Estherwood Cemetery in Estherwood.
She is survived by three brothers, Leonard Bonin and Kenneth Bonin, both of Crowley, and Michael Bonin, of Lubbock, Texas ; two sisters, Christine Bonin, Evangeline, and Martha LeBouef, Lyons Point; her brother-in-law, Felix Louvierre, Midland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ms. Deshotel ws preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Clara Coleman Bonin, Sr.; two brothers, Bernard, Jr. and Patrick Bonin; and one sister, Brenda Louvierre.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mable Roberts Moore
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at 1:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mable Roberts Moore, 86, who died April 10, 2004, in California.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Murphy and Margie Moore, Larry and Nancy Moore, all of California; three grandsons, Steve Layman, David Moore, and Scott Moore; two granddaughters Diana K. Segura, and Christy Ledet; ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Gladys Foret of Texas .
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, Waddy Moore; her parents, Vincent and Belzire Champagne Roberts; four brothers, Claude Roberts, Gaston Roberts, Octave Roberts, and Percy Roberts; three sisters, Verdie Albarado, Beulah Thi-bodeaux, and Girdy Roberts.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Daughters, and worked at the Rayne Branch Hospital. She will be greatly missed by all members of her family.
Pallbearers were Murphy Moore, Larry Moore, Gilbert Moore, David Moore, Scott Moore, and Robert Foret.
A Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Burial be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Voorhies (Mr. Sing) Bossier
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Elder Ron Smith officiating, for Mr. Voorhies (Mr. Sing) Bossier, 88, of Rayne, who died Sunday, April 4, 2004 at 12:43 p.m. in American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Bossier;five sons, Deroy Bercier, Bayou Bercier, Arthur Bossier, Kevin Bossier, and Larry Edwards; seven daughters, Lori Bossier, Sarah Bossier, Marie Bossier, Clara Hart, Opal Gray, Mattie Champagne, and Jim Bochin, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Jerrell Bossier, and Voohiess J. Bossier, Jr.,; one daughter, Orelia Jackson ; his parents, Mr. Orelia Broussard and Simar Bossier, and his siblings.
He was a carpenter in the Rayne community until he retired..

Wallace R. Ousse, Sr.
Funeral services were held Friday at 10 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2005 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, for Wallace R.. Ousse, Sr, 84, who died at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point, at 11:35 a.m., Wednesday, April 27 2005.
A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Visitation continued Friday at 8 a.m. until time of services.
interment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rayne. Msgr. Russell Harrington conducted the services.
Survivors include one son, Wallace Raymond Ousse, Jr. and wife Debra of Frederick, Maryland; two daughters, Helena 0. Long and husband Cal of Kenner, and Anne Ousse of Lafayette; one brother, Edwin “Teedie” Ousse of Lafayette; one sister, Beverly Darby of Arnaudville; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Ousse, Christopher Ousse, Elizabeth Long and Joseph Long.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 225 of Church Point. Mr. Ousse was a former Grand Knight and member of the C.A. Bienvenu Knights of Columbus Council 2504 in Church Point.
He retired as a vocational agriculture instructor at Church Point High School following 30 years of teaching.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Zaunbrecher Ousse; one brother, Johnny Ousse; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace F, Ousse
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all who were involved in his care.
Arrangements were handled by Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point.

Lily Mae “Mae Mae” Lantier
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2005, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Buddy Breaux officiating, for Lily Mae “Mae Mae” Lantier, 72, of Rayne, who died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at her residence.
A rosary was recited Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home chapel.
Burial was in St. Peter and St. Paul Cemetery Mausoleum in Scott.
Visitation was observed Thursday from 3 to 10 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harris Lantier, Rayne; two sons and their wives, Kenneth and Bru Lantier, Lafayette, and Keith and Sharlene Lantier, Westlake; one daughter and her husband, Patsy and Michael Broussard, Carencro; four sisters, Unez Richard, Lafayette, Bernice and Edward Boudreaux, Rayne, Suzanne and Larry Champagne, Youngsville, and Verna Denais, Judice; one sister-in-law, Rosa Mae Desormeaux, Morgan City; six grandchildren, Ginger Broussard, Robin and Chad Hayes, Corinth, Texas , Christi Broussard and fiance Justin Buckley, Austin, Texas , and Jason Broussard, Dallas, Texas ; four great-grandchildren, Reagan Lantier, Riley Lantier, Evyn Lantier and Ethan Lantier; and two step-great-grandchildren, Colin Broussard and Rylee Hayes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alice Viator Desormeaux; two brothers, Francis and Antoine Desormeaux; and three sisters, Ken Lantier, Keith Lantier, Shad Lantier, Devin Lantier, Brody Lantier, Joshua Lantier, and Jason Broussard.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Broussard, Norbert Stutes, Glen Boudreaux, James Champagne, Abby Lantier and Michael Richard.
Mrs. Lily “Mae Mae” Lantier worked at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center for ten years. She also worked at United Methodist Church Day Care for 11 years.
She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 77 of Rayne for 25 years. She was Auxiliare of the Year in 2003.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Acadiana.

Luke Louis
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005, at 10:30 am at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church for Mr. Luke Louis, 72, who Passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at the Rayne Guest Home.
Fr. Richard Wagner, SSJ will be the celebrant of the Mass. interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Louis was the youngest of seven children, and is survived by one sister, Angelina (Louis) Carmouche of Rayne; one brother, Henry Louis Jr., of Port Arthur, Texas ; one sister-in-law, Ruby Louis of Rayne; and one brother-in-law, Arthur Barkley Sr., of Port Arthur, Texas .
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Louis Sr. and Roberta (Board) Louis; brothers, John and Amos Louis; one sister, Rose (Louis) Mouton, all of Rayne; and one sister, Annie (Louis) Barkley of Port Arthur, Texas .
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
Syrie Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Mary Llewellyn Breaux
Sister Mary Llewellyn Breaux, formerly Sister Mary Isabelle Breaux, a Sister of Mount Carmel and retired teacher, died April 19, 2005, at Meadowcrest Hospital. She was 89 years old, and in the 66th year of her religious profession.
Sister Mary Llewellyn was born on Dec. 12, 1915, to Ovey Paul Breaux and Marie Martha Billeaud of Broussard. She received the habit of the Sisters of Mount Carmel August 3, 1936. On August 16, 1938, she made her first profession, and pronounced perpetual vows August 5, 1941.
Sister Mary Llewellyn graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Lafayette, on June 1, 1934. At Loyola University in New Orleans, she majored in elementary education and received her teaching certificate April 30, 1952.
Devoting almost 38 years to education she taught at Mount Carmel schools in Carencro, Paincourtville and New Iberia, and at St. Dominic, St. Augustine and St. James Major in New Orleans and at St. Joseph in Rayne. She served as principal at St. Augustine in New Orleans, St. Ann in Carencro and St. Joseph in Rayne.
She spent 12 years in Lafayette in home ministry caring for her mother. She served in art ministry at St. James Major and while at the Motherhouse in New Orleans. Sister Mary Llewellyn’s art included scenes, flowers, name cards and calligraphy. Included in her calligraphy art are quotations of St. John of the Cross for the Intracarmelite Formation Program and plaques accompanying historical pictures in the Motherhouse hallway.
Sister Mary Llewellyn was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Lawrence Edward, Charles Sidney and James Hubert and two sisters, Marie Lucille and Mary Ruth. She is survived by her sister, Sister Rose Aimee Breaux, O. Carm. and two brothers Thomas Alfred Breaux and Paul Raymond Breaux, both of Lafayette.
Visitation was on April 22 at the Mount Carmel Motherhouse chapel, Robert E. Lee in New Orleans at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m., and interment in St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery followed.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mount Carmel retirement fund, development fund, or memorial fund, P.O. Box 1160, Lacombe, LA 70445, are preferred.

Vincent J. Berken
ROANOKE- Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2005, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings for Vincent J. Berken, 79, who died Friday, April 22, 2005.
interment was in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum with full military rites, Msgr. James Gaddy and Rev. Wayne LeBleu conducted the service.
Mr. Berken was a native of Roberts Cove and a resident of Roanoke. He attended St. Ben's Seminary. He served in the U. S. Army in Japan and Korea from 1950 through 1952. He began farming in Roberts Cove in 1953 and moved to Jeff Davis Parish in 1966 to continue his career in farming. He was Jeff Davis Parish Farmer of the Year in 1977, Roberts Cove German Centennial Outstanding Farmer in 1980, International Rice Festival Farmer of the Year in 1981 and Jeff Davis Parish Fair Grand Marshal in 1994.
He was a member of the following organizations: Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Eucharistic Minister, Immaculate Conception Finance Committee, and past member of the Parish Council; Louisiana Farm Bureau Marketing Association - Rice Marketing Advisory Committee for seven years and Vice Chairman for one year; past member of American Rice, Inc.; Jeff Davis Parish Soybean and Rice Committees; Jeff Davis Rice Growers Association, Louisiana Cattleman's Association; Jeff Davis Cattleman's Association - board member one year; Louisiana Soybean Association; Vice President of the Grand Marais Drainage District and Board Member of the Louisiana Seed Rice Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marie Louise Thevis Berken of Roanoke; one son, John Vincent Berken and his wife, Virginia of Jennings; four daughters, Mrs. Jude (Deborah) Clement of Hathaway; Mrs. Bryant (Judy) Fletcher of Lake Charles; Mrs. Edward (Sharon) Cassiere of Metairie; Mrs. Jason (Elaine) Quebedeaux of Lafayette; five sisters, Christina Hornsby and Josephine Thevis of Roberts Cove; Angela Leger of Pasadena, Texas ; Mary Harrington of Eunice; Rita Hoffpauir of Lake Charles; fourteen grandchildren, Shannon and his wife, Deidre, Chad Clement, Ryan Clement, Brandon Vail, Kristie Vail, Allison Vail, Lana Fletcher, Jared Fletcher, Kerri Fletcher, Camille Berken, Joel Berken, Elaine Berken, Katrina Cassiere, and Amy Cassiere, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Berken Vail; his parents, Casper and Thecla Berken; three brothers, Aloysius, Herman and Ronnie Berken; two sisters, Elizabeth Klein and Anne Louise Berken; and his father-in-law, Peter Jacob Thevis.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed starting Sunday 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and to continue Monday 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary was prayed Sunday 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home recited by Msgr. James Gaddy and a Scripture Service followed at 7:30 p.m. by Deacon Bennett McNeal.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were his Godchildren, Gregory Hornsby, Charles Thevis, Brian Hoffpauir, George Richard, Pamela Harmon and Julie Thibodeaux.
His granddaughters, Allison Vail, Kern Fletcher, Camille Berken and Katrina & Amy Cassiere, will
present the offertory. Lana Fletcher and Kristie Vail will read the readings.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings.
