Martin “Sonny” Heinen
EUNICE –– Funeral services for Martin “Sonny” Heinen, 69, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove.
interment followed in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Francis Bourgeois celebrated the Funeral Mass.
Mr. Heinen Passed away Sunday, April 3, 2005, at his home.
He worked in the oilfield as a general operations manager serving much of the Gulf Coast. He enjoyed playing golf and cards at the Eunice Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Heinen, of Basile; sons, Craig Heinen and his wife, Mary, of Katy, Texas , Kevin Heinen and his wife, Tammy, of Eunice, and Gary Heinen, of Orlando, Fla.,; sister, Marguerite Constantin, of Rayne; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Heinen; and his daughter, Renola Heinen.
Visitation was observed from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday at Ardoin Funeral Home and continued Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of services. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Monday.
Ardoin Funeral Home of Eunice was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ella Geneva Low
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday August 23, 2002, at Elizabeth Memorial Church in Branch for Ella Geneva Low, 74, who died at Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point Wednesday, August 21, 2002. Brother Leldon Richard officiated. Burial was in Elizabeth Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Leonard Low and his wife, Rebecca, of Church Point, and Eric Low of Opelousas; three daughters, Deborah and her husband, Michael Breaux, Rayne, Laurie and her husband, Ronnie Doucet, of Church Point and Jackie and her husband, Garry Louviere, Many; four brothers Elwood, Wallace and John Hugh Richard, of Branch and Gary Richard, Rayne, three sisters, Frieda Lyons, Crowley, Natalie Quebodeaux, Branch and Katherine Lejeune, Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Eula Mae Stakes Richard’ one son, Michael Low; and a sister, Jessie Andrus.
Gossen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Benjamin (Ben) Stutes, Jr.
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at 1 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel here, with Father Joseph Greenwell officiating, for Bejamin (Ben) Stutes, Jr., 83, of Lake Charles, who died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in Hanks Cemetery in Morse.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ben (Bertha) Stutes, Jr., Lake Charles; one son, Ronald Stutes, Lake Charles; two grandchildren, Ronald G. Stutes and Molly J. Stutes; one brother, John C. Richard, Iowa, La.; and one sister, Mrs. Charles Pierce, Perry.
Mr. Stutes served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion W.B. Williamson Post No. 1 in Lake Charles and the VFW Post of Lake Charles.He was a native of Midland and a lifelong resident of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Joseph Stutes, Sr., and Corine Bailleaux Stutes; and two brothers, Kirby Stutes and Luther Stutes.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ellis Alleman
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson, for Ellis Alleman, 65, who died Tuesday in Rayne.
Survivors include two brothers, O.J. Alleman, of Cottonwood, Arizona, and Phillip Alleman Sr. of Eunice; one sister, Jeanne Sape Augestine, of Rayne. His long time companion Antoinette Cambell; devoted caretaker his niece and her husband, Dorothy and Rufus Royer.
Mr. Alleman was preceded in death by his parents, Octave and Onelia Royer Alleman; two brothers, Louis Alleman, and Clarence Alleman; and three sisters, Maude LaFleur, Lena Credeur, Evelyn Moncise.
A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m.
Burial was in the St. Theresa Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Irene Sarver Spell
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church here, with Father Joseph Greenwell officiating, for Irene Sarver Spell, 89, of Lake Charles, who died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at 8:15 p.m. in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by one daughter, Georgie Fontenot, Lake Charles; three sons, Harold Spell, Silversale, Wash., Alvin R. Spell, Jennings, and Enos P. Spell, Mermentau Cove; one brother, Elmer Sarver, Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Anna Belle Autin and Roby Morgan, both of Highlands, Texas , Earline Morgan, Nederland, Texas , and Shirley Dubose, Indian Bayou; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ms. Spell was a native of the Crowley area but was residing in Lake Charles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Spell; two sons, Joseph R. Spell and Windred L. Spell; her parents, Rodney and Pearl Sarver; two brothers, Wilbur and J.D. Sarver; and three sisters, Viola Bertrand, Nettie Bouley and Thelma Briley.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Forest Cormier
CROWLEY –– Funeral serivces were held at 2 pl.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel here, with Rev. Mr. Rodless Leleux officiating, for Forest Cormier, 80, of Crowley, who died at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
A rosary was prayed Friday at 7 p.m. in the chapel.
Burial was in Acadia Resthaven Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by three sons, John Cormier and Terry Cormier, both of Crowley, and Michael Cormier, Columbia, Miss.; three brothers, Horace Cormier, Crowley, Elwood Cormier, Scott, and Carl Cormier, Jerom, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Cormier retired from the Ford Comapny as an auto mechanic after 50 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Cormier; his parents, Joe and Susan Hoffpauir Cormier; and two brothers, Julien and Sam Cormier.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Reginald “Reggie”Simoneaux
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Reginald “Reggie” V. Simoneaux, Sr., 70, who died Friday, Aug. Aug. 23, 2002, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The Rev. Eugene Tremie, pastor of St. Landry Catholic Church, and the Rev. Jody Simoneaux, pastor of St. Genevive Catholic Church concelebrated the Funeral Mass.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Wingate Simoneaux of Rayne; one daughter and her husband, Linda and Craig Durio of Rayne; one son, R. Victor and his wife Angela Simoneaux, Jr., Monroe; two brothers, Jerome and Jules Simoneaux, both of Rayne; three sisters, Nanette LeBlanc of Rayne, Suzanna Arceneaux of LaPlace, and Paulette Butcher of Lafayette; and four grandchildren, Brian Durio, Ian Simoneaux, Jared Simoneaux, and Noelle Simoneaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Solange Lepine Simoneaux.
Reggie was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Class of 1950, and SLI in 1958.
Reggie was a veteran of military service, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 77, and Harold Bossley VFW Post 6720, and also the Harold Bossley VFW post 6720 Rifle Squad., the 40 &8 No. 1558, and the St. Joseph Catholic Church Carpenters’ Choir.
Reggie was selected by ABWA as Golden Age King. He shared his artistic talent by painting the Welcome mural on the police station and the hunting scene on Farmers’ True Value store wall. Reggie also volunteered for numerous activities at Rayne Catholic Elementary School and St. Joseph Church.
Pallbearers were Allen Stutes, Vernice Hargrave, Clemile Suire, Etney Meaux,. Ralph Gautreaux, and Curtis Abshire, all members of the VFW Rifle Squad.
A Rosary was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. by the Rev. Eugene Tremie.
The family wishes to extend a special, heartfelt thanks to nurse Pattie Guidry and Hospice of Acadiana. Memorial contributions in Mr. Simoneaux’s name may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Jefferson Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70503-3240 and Rayne Catholic Elementary.
Entombment was in the St. Joseph Mausoleum under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Martin “Pooney” Citizen
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at 11 a.m. in Our Mother of Mercy Church here, with Father Francis Butler officiating, for Martin “Pooney” Citizen, 46, of Church Point, who died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital.
Burial was in the new Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery here.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Lee C. Citizen, Church Point; two daughters, Ashley Ann Citizen and Lakonya Guidry, both of Church Point; one son, Dustin Citizen, Church Point; two brothers, Joseph Citizen, Jr. and Patrick Citizen, both of Church Point; three sisters, Cheryl Citizen and Mary E. Carrier, both of Church Point, and Lorrie Phillips, Orange, Texas ; his mother-in-law, Joyce Bellard, Church Point; godparents, George and Lula Citizen, Church Point; four grandchildren; six aunts, three uncles, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law; several great aunts and great uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Mr. Citizen was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Mary Heneretta Citizen; one brother, Leroy Citizen; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.
