Russell J. Schexnider
CROWLEY ––Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday , Sept. 1, 2003, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ron Andrus officiating, for Russell J. Schexnider, 47, of Crowley, who died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at 7:20 a..m. in Crowley’s AmericanLegion Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Schexnider, Crowley; one daughter, Candice Schexnider, Crowley; one stepdaughter, Kim Moore, Crowley; his mother, Gracie Schexnider, Crowley; three brothers, Robert (Bobby) Schexnider, Hilliard Joseph (Yogi Schexnider, both of Crowley, and Michael (Mike) Schexnider, Jennings; two sisters, Mildred (Millie) Mire and Susan (Sue) Schexnider, both of Crowley; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Schexnider worked for Grey Wolf as a driller for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hilliard Joseph Schexnider.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

John “Little John”Ricky Bertrand
CROWLEY ––Services to celebrate the life of John “Little John” Ricky Bertrand, 50, were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, in the Chapel at Duhon’s Funeral Home in Crowley. John unexpectedly left us to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born on October 22, 1952 and has lived most of his life in the Crowley area. He was an avid fan of the N.O. Saints and the L.S.U. Tigers. He was known by friends and family as a kind-hearted, caring and loving Christian person. We will surely miss his constant smile and his chuckle.
Survivors included his mother, Nedia Leleux of Church Point. He is also survived by four sisters, Barbara and her husband Michael Lafosse, Church Point, his sister Lucy and her husband Kenneth Choate of Abbeville, his sister Debbie Daigle and his sister Betty Bertrand, of Crowley; his brother, Pervis Bertrand and his wife Lassie, his brother Ronald Bertrand and his wife Linda, all of Church Point, his brother, Michael Bertrand of Rayne, his brother Melvin Leleux and his wife Barbara of Gueydan, He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and numerous friends who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sterling Bertrand; and two brothers, Wilton Bertrand and- Elzie Bertrand.
Pallbearers were Pervis Bertrand, Ronald Bertrand, Michael Bertrand, Jared Lafosse, Randy Bertrand and John Choate.
The Rev. Al Gatlin conducted the services.
interment was at Abshire Family Cemetery.
Duhon’s Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of arrangements.

Darrel Terro
Rayne - Darrel Terro, 63, of Indian Bayou Passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2003, at 9:25 p.m. in his home in Indian Bayou after a long courageous battle with cancer.
A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Monday., Aug. 4.
A Funeral Mass was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne.
He was a lifelong resident of Indian Bayou. He was a loving husband and father who was dedicated to his family. Through his life he made many friends and has left behind a handprint in all of our hearts.
He was a retired rice, soybean and crawfish farmer with many trades and experiences. He raised registered cattle which his grandsons proudly showed in 4H livestock programs. He made many friends through the cattle industry where he offered his AI services.
He raised and trained registered border collie cattle dogs where he participated in many dog trials and events and made many friends. This provided the needed therapy for the pain and suffering he was experiencing.
He loved preserving the Cajun culture he was raised with. This influenced him to learn to play the accordion which he passed on to his son and grandsons. He organized and participated in many Cajun jam sessions and cultural events throughout the area.
With the help of his family, he organized the Terro family reunion which has been growing strongly now for 15 years.
He spearheaded the Indian Bayou water project for Lafayette Parish.
He was very active in community leadership and organizations such as the Rayne Jaycees, Judice volunteer fire department, Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association, Louisiana Simmental/Simbrah, American Simmental, American Brahman, sponsor of Cajun Classic Livestock Show, Gulf Coast Stock Dogs, and American Border Collie, Cajun Culture, Cajun French Music and Lafayette Parish Farm Bureau Associations.
Survivors included his loving wife of 45 years, Dorothy “Ms. Dot” (Mier); his loving children, daughter, Veronica of Indian Bayou, and son, Vicki and wife Zona (Menard) of Indian Bayou; his pride and joy, four grandsons; Benji, Eric, Dustin and Dylan; father and mother-in-law; Elton and Mercedes (Menard) Mier; a special addition of the family, Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Divas and family of Guatemala; special friend of the family; Stephanie Roy; father; Ellzey of Indian Bayou; two sisters, Judy Comeaux and husband Junius Comeaux, Sr. of Rayne, and Patsy Leger and husband Albert Leger of Crowley; two brothers, Eugene of Indian Bayou and Douglas and wife Linda (Stutes) of Rayne; five nieces and nine nephews; 21 great nieces and nephews; and four great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lydia (Boullion) Terro; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Angelle (Cormier) Boullion; paternal grandparents, Martin and Eumea (Boudreaux) Terro; grandson Johnathan Paul Terro; sister-in-law, Barbara (Main) Terro; and brother-in-law, Rayland Mier.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to his many doctors and staff: Eugene Brierre, Eric Buller, Richard Broussard and Ken McCarron whom have helped him along his journey. Also, the staff and support of Hospice of Acadiana.
Pallbearers included Benji, Eric, Dustin and Dylan Terro, Eugene Terro, Douglas Terro, and Clint Morgan.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home, Inc. of Rayne.

Charlene Sonnier Boudreaux
Funeral services were held Wednesday Aug. 6, 2003s at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Charlene Sonnier Boudreaux, 54, who died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at her residence in Mire.
Survivors include one son, Samuel Boudreaux of Duson; two grandchildren, Dori Alexis, and Daylin Scott Boudreaux, both of Duson; her mother, Viola B. Sonnier of Rayne; three brothers, Milton Sonnier of Tacoma, Washington , Ervin Sonnier, of Mire, and Patrick Sonnier of Rayne; and one half sister, Yvonne Saltzman of Rayne.
Charlene was preceded in death by her father, Nolton Sonnier.
A Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers were Pat Sonnier, Ervin Sonnier, Milton Sonnier, Darrell Menard, Tyler Sonnier, and Scott Sonnier; honorary pallbearers were Michelle "Minnie" Sonnier, Leola Bernard, Cindy Menard, Donna Thompson, and Charise Gary.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Johnnie Rae Williams
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel here, with Dalton Schexnayder officiating, for Johnnie Rae Williams, 68, of Crowley, who died at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
Burial was in the Rayne Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Robert A. Perry, Sr., of Crowley, and John V. Perry of Florida; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Ms. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Williams; her parents, Aaron A.. Perry, Sr., and Aretta Doucet; and one brother, Aaron A. Perry, Jr.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Abraham J. Thibodeaux
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Abraham Joseph Thibodeax, 70 who died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at his residence in Mire.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Comeaux Thibodeaux of Mire; one son, Roland Thibodeaux, of Judice; two daughters, Brenda Lantier, and Sandra Thibodeaux both of Rayne; three brothers, Gilbert Thibodeaux of Church Point, Thelesmar Thibodeaux of Centerville and Emery Thibodeaux of Carencro; one sister, Gladys Cormier of Crowley; and two granddaughters, Ashley Lantier, and Pam Domingue.
Mr. Thibodeaux was preceded in death by his parents, Claby, and Margaret Aucoin Thibodeaux.
He was a member of The American Legion Arceneaux Post 77, and the V.F.W. Post 9822.
A Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Pallbearers were Jude Judice, Albert Broussard, Terry Rogers, L.J. Comeaux, Gilbert and Emery Thibodeaux.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Harold Thomas Goertz, Jr.
Funeral services were held at 12 noon Monday, August 30, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Harold Thomas Goertz, Jr., 73, who died Friday, August 27, 2004, at his residence.
Entombment was in Greenwood Cemetery Mausoluem in New Orleans at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite D. Goertz; one son, Harold T. Goertz, III; four daughters, Beverly Fussell and husband John, Kathy Bassemier and husband David, Patricia Gebhart and husband Jim, Mary Ann Scheet and husband Ron; ten agrandchildren; mother, Rose M. Goertz; one brother, Gerald Goertz and wife Ginger; and one sister, Janice Wall and husband Ronnie.
He was preceded in by his father, Harold Thomas Goertz, Sr.
Mr. Goertz was a Ret. Lt. Col. Air Force Reserve he was also a member of American Legion, Rayne Lions Club, U.L. Alumi, Holy Cross High School, Y.M.B.C., Past President of U.L. S Club.
A rosary was recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday by St. Joseph Catholic Daughters.
Visiting hours were observed from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until service Monday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

David Stutes
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. in the Forest Park Church of Christ in Crowley, with Brother Jason cordar officiating, for David Stutes, 43, of Indian Bayou, who died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at 1:26 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine, Indian Bayou; three sons, Corley Stutes,Lafayaette, Brent Stutes and Vince Stutes, both of Kaplan; one daughter, Nikki Stutes, Indian Bayou; four stepdaughters, Kessica Perrin and Sarah Smith, both of Kaplan, Rebecca Hebert, Rayne, and Joellan Quirk, Iota; his father, Allen Stutes, Crowley; one brother, Darrell Stutes, Crowley; a half-brother, Mike Sensat, New Orleans; three sisters, Elsie Thibodeaux, Duson, Jerry Trahan, Kaplan, and Elizabeth Hebert, Morse; two step-sisters, Stephanie Hebert, Morse, and Rebecca Sensat, Crowley; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dora Hoffman Stutes.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Robert Gordon LeDoux
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Indian Bayou United Methodist Church for Robert Gordon LeDoux, who was peacefully lifted into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 28, 2004, at 9 p.m.
Gordon was born on May 4, 1919, in Indian Bayou to Robert P. and Daisy H. LeDoux. He graduated from Indian Bayou High School in 1937 and attended SLI. he entered the U.S. Air Force in 1941, and attained the rank of sergeant, serving at Barksdale Air Force Base until his honorable discharge in 1945.
He served on the Vermilion Parish School Board from 1964 until 1980.
Gordon was a past president of the Indian Bayou Volunteer Fire Department, current treasurer of the Indian Bayou High School Alumni Association and a member of the Oddfellows Lodge of Crowley.
He was a loyal and dedicated member of the Indian Bayou United Methodist Church, serving in various leadership roles. Gordon was retired rice farmer.
He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He leaves behind wonderful memories for his wife of 57 years, Almeda Hoffpauir LeDoux; three daughters, Wanda Faulk, Jeanette Morgan, and Carol Bastian; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and countless other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert P. and Daisy H. LeDoux; his little brother, Carrol Byrne LeDoux; and his son-in-law, Errol Faulk.
Visitation was on Monday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday.
He loved everyone and, in return, was loved by all.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.
