Amynthe Cormier
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, for Amynthe Cormier, 77, who died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003 at 11:15 a.m. in Crowley American Legion Hospital.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #1.
Survivors include her husband, Milton Cormier, of Rayne; two sons, George Cormier and wife Ginger, of Branch, Rickey Cormier and wife Susan, of Lafayette; one daughter, Dagmar Thibod-eaux and husband Tom, of Rayne; one sister, Aldegon Doucet, of Bridge City, Texas ; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean Thibodeaux and Isaure Doucet Thibodeaux; numerous brothers and sisters.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Lawrence Leger, Sr.
Funeral services were held Tuesdsay, Dec. 23, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Hillard Comeaux, a minister with First Christian Church, officiating for Lawrence Leger, Sr., 87, of Egan, who died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at 2:15 p.m. in Lafayette General Medical Center.
Burial was in the Maxie Cemetery.
He is survived by one son, and his wife, J.L. Leger, Jr., and Marilyn Leger, of Egan; one brother and his wife, Harry and Marie Leger, Vinton; three grandchildren, Lynnette, Noelle and Brandon Leger, all of Egan, and one great-grandson, Trevor Leger, Egan.
Mr. Leger was preceded in death by his wife, Leonia Mae Richey Leger; one daughter, Melvalin June Leger; and his parents, Henry and Theresa Leger.
He was a lifelong resident of the Egan community, served in the 51st Battalion, 29th Regiment, 105th Rooster Company in the United State Navy during World War II. He served on a U.S. Naval mine sweeper ship which cleared the way for other U.S. vessels during World War II.
He retired from Conoco Oil Company with 22 years of service. After his retirement, he worked with his son, J.L. Leger, Jr., on the family farming operation until nine years ago when he suffered a severe stroke which disabled him. He was a member of the VFWof Crowley.
He will be remembered by his loved ones and friends for his loviing, kind, unselfish and hard-working happy style of life he lived.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mary Lou Dupuis
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at a Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lou Dupuis, 60, who died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003 at her residence.
Entombment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2 Mausoleum.
Survivors include her husband, John Dupuis, Rayne; one daughter, Tina Clement, of Rayne; one son, Mark Clement, of Carencro; her mother, Clarice Barousse, of Jennings; two sisters, Shirley LeJeune, of Jennings, Sue Richie, Lake Charles; four grandchildren, one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roland Clement; father Varice Bourgeois, one sister, Laura Mae Thibodeaux, one niece, Patty Guidry.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Leopaul, Sr. Rayne
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2003 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church for Wilfred Leopaul Sr., 67, who died Monday, December, 15, 2003 at M e a d o w b r o o k Rehabilitation HOspital of Lafayette. interment will be in the Church Cemetery. He is survived by three daughters, Antoinette Leopaul (Isaac) of Rayne, Anita Leopaul and Veronica Leopaul (Jason) Williams both of Lafayette; two sons, Wilfred C. (Emma Oertly) Leopaul, Jr. of Luray, Virginia and Chadrick Mitchell Leopaul of Baton Rouge; his wife of more that 33 years and friend for more than 42 years, Deanna Sias Leopaul; two brothers, Shelton Leopaul of Rayne, and Murphy Leopaul of Church Point; three sisters Mildred Leopaul of Rayne, Joyce Broussard; and grandchildren, one great grandchild along with a host of nieces, nephews others relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Landry; his father Gilbert Leopaul; brothers, McKinley Leopaul, William Leopaul, and Whitley Landry; one sister Mary Helen Leopaul. The family request that visitation be observed at our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church from 8:00 a.m. to the time of funeral services on Saturday, December 20, 2003. Arrangements have been entrusted to Syrie Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette.

Donald Ray “Rooster” Goodwin
Branch - Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16 at the St. Edmund Catholic Church in Branch, with Father Bourgeios officiating, for Donald Ray Goodwin, 45, of Branch, who died on December 12, 2003 at Lafayette General Hospital.. Survivors include his father, Eric Goodwin, of Branch; his wife, Eva M. Goodwin of Branch; daughter, Te’mica R. Goodwin, of Branch; four brothers, Bobby Goodwin, of Rayne, Jammie Goodwin, of Branch, Darrell Goodwin, of Church Point, Destry Goodwin, of Church Point; and six sisters, Joyce Guillory, of Branch, Viola Monroe, of Lafayette, Loretta Guidry, of Branch, Jeannette Henry, of Lafayette, Laura Goodwin, of Branch, and Penny Goodwin of Branch.

Mrs. Inex Schexnayder Crowley
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003 for Mrs. Inex Schexnayder, 85, at St. John The Baptist in Lyons Point, at 10:00 a.m. Mrs. Schexnayder died on Tuesday, December 16,2003 at 10:00 a.m in the Crowley Guest Home. Visitation will reopen on Thursday, December 18th with viewing until time of services. She is survived by husband, Evnis Schexnayder, of Crowley; two daughters, Mary Rose, of Crowley, and Esther Villejoin, of Winnie, Tx.; nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Mrs. Schexnayder is preceded in death by her parents, Adias and Felician Fontenot, one son, Lee Forest Schexnayder; two brothers, Lenis Fontenot and Joe Fontenot; three sisters Amelia Primeaux, Adoia Fontenot, and Lenon Touchet. One great granddaughter and 2 great grandsons. Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond Louis Besse
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Raymond Louis Besse, 45, who died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at his residence. Entombment was in St. Joseph #2 Mausoluem. The Rev. Bill Ruskoski, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was the celebrant of the funeral Mass and conducted the services. Survivors include his parents, Dave and Elsie Boudreaux Besse, of Rayne; five sisters, Susan Dembowski, of Rayne, Tina Meche, of Rayne, Patti Guidry, of Mire, Angela Huckaby, of Eunice, Becky Gogola, of Youngsville; four brothers, Dave Besse, III, of Baton Rouge, Daniel Besse, of Rayne, Kenneth Besse, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Kevin Troy Besse, of Rayne. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Besse, Sr., and maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Boudreaux. Mr. Besse was a member of Religious Society of Friends (Quaker). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lafayette Animal Shelter. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Laura Arbie Meaux
Rayne - Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Laura Arabie Meaux, 96, who died Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 12:30 p.m. in Rayne Guest Home. interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2. The Rev. Glenn Meaux was the celebrant for the services and con-celebrant was Rev. Joseph Breaux. Survivors include her son, Wilson Meaux, Jr. and his wife Rose, of Rayne; three daughters, Laura M. Meaux, of Germany, Mary Nunez and her husband F.C., of Estherwood, Marcella Meaux, of Rayne; eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren; and one devoted godson Curless Arabie and his wife Amie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Meaux, Sr.; one daughter, Dolores Meaux; one grandson, Gregory Olivier; parents, Demosthenes Arabie and Odile Leger Arabie; six sisters; and four brothers. Mrs. Meaux was a member of the St. Joseph Ladies Alter Society and a chartered member of St. Joseph Lay Carmelite. A rosary was recited at 11 a.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Laura Meaux’s name to Retired Sisters of Mt. Carmel, P.O. Box 476, LaCombe, La. 70445. Pallbeareres were her six grandsons, Mike Guillory, Bubba Meaux, Phillip Meaux, Carl Meaux, John Boulet and Dan Meaux. Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Thomas Colligan
CHURCH POINT ––Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, with Deacon Jim Cormier officiating, for Thomas Colligan, 82, of Church Point, who died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at 9 p.m. at his home. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Burial was in the old Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery. He is survived by two sons and their spouses, Johnathan and Corliss Colligan of Church Point, and Ronald and Randi Colligan of Roswell, Ga.; one brother, Notlton Colligan, Lawtell; and four grandchildrne, Jason Colligan, Marietta, Ga., Lance Colligan, Loganville, Ga.; Nicole Lynch and Slade Colligan, both of Church Point. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Lavergne; one daughter, Mary Colligan; and his parents, Mathilda Daigle and Ignace Colligan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He ws a member of the American Legion Post 225 of Church Point. Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

George Fontenot
CHURCH POINT ––Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Ricky Pavlu officiating, for George Fontenot, 69, of Eunice, who died at 6:02 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, in the Eunice Community Hospital. Burial was in the Baptist Cemetery in Eunice. He is survived by one daughter, Vicky Ann Lemaire, Opelousas; two brothers, Sidney Fontenot, Port Arthur, Texas , and Frank Fontenot, Eunice; and one grandson, Derrick Lemaire, Lafayette. He wsa preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Brasseaux; parents, Doris Cormier and Gilbert Fontenot; one brother, Dallas Fontenot; and one sister, Wilda Guidry. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Granville C. Laurents
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 7, 2005, at Lafayette Memorial Park for Granville C. Laurents, 96, who died December 16, 2004, at the Woodlands Healthcare Center, in Houston, Texas .
Granville is survived by his wife, Diane Laurents of Houston; his sons, Van Laurents of Houston, and Glenn Ray Laurents of Singapore; four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Granville was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Venice Roy Laurents.
Burial will be at Lafayette Memorial Park.

Nora Bellard Thevis
MOWATA –– Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 20056, in St. Lawrence Catholic Church here, with Father George Heffner officiating, for Nora Bellard Thevis, 63, of Mowata, who died at 4:25 p.m. Friday, Dec., 30, 2005, at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to time of services Saturday.
A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday.
She was a lay minister of Communion at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata and a member of the Ladies Altar Society there. She was also a member of the Richard Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs.Thevis was also a sacristan for St. Lawrence Church in Mowata.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Thevis, Sr., of Mowata; two sons, Dwyane Thevis and his wife, Jackie, of Eunice, and Dewey Thevis and wife, Nikki, of Broussard; a daughter, Vickie Frey and husband, Stephen, of Eunice; a sister, Mercedes Johnson and husband, Ronald, of Church Point; five grandchildren, Stephanie Thevis, Jennifer Frey, Derrick Frey, Hunter Thevis and Tanner Thevis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LeLouis and Arminie Blanchard Bellard, and one brother, Dewey Bellard, Sr..

Ida Marie Broussard
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 23, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at the Landmark Pentecostal Church in Lafayette for Ida Marie Broussard, 63, who died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at the Medical Center of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald “Bonz” Broussard of Duson; four daughters and their husbands, Sue Broussard Bailey and her husband Rodney Miller, of Broussard, Donna Foreman Moore and her husband Frank of Augusta Ga., Angela Foreman Glenn and her husband Mike, of Scott, and Renee Foreman Champagne and her husband Randy of Youngsville; two brothers, Richard and his wife Alma Broussard of Rayne, and Scotty Morvant of Rayne; two sisters, Judy Breaux of Indiana, and Chris Thibodeaux of Broussard; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Broussard was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Sybil Gilbert Broussard; and one son. Roderick Paul Foreman.
Pallbearers were Randy Champagne, Cory Glenn, Scotty Morvant, Chad Broussard, Mike Broussard, and Cory Lantier. Honorary pallbearer was Jeffery Gautreaux.
Visitation was Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. and continued until services on Thursday. A Rosary was recited Wednesday December 22, at 7:00 p.m.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.
