Rose Ella Bertrand Sarver
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. John Locascio officiating, for Rose Ella Bertrand Sarver, 84, of Rayne.
Ms. Sarver died at 4 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, in Lafayette General Medical Center.
Burial was in the Indian Bayou Methodist Church.
Visitation was from 1 to 10 p.m.Sunday, Dec. 26, and from 8 a.m.until time of services on Dec. 27.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Lee Sarver, Crowley, and Roger Dale Sarver, Indian Bayou; two daughters, Judy Sarver and Melba Thibodeaux, both of Rayne; 11 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Ms. Sarver was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Sarver; one daughter, Shelby Jean Sarver; her parents, Velia Bertrand and Ida Lee Sarver; and 10 siblings.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ruth Falcon Cavalier
Funeral services were held Tuesday December 28, 2004 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Ruth Falcon Cavalier 80, who died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at her residence in Rayne.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Cavalier and Jan Cavalier, both of Rayne; one brother, Frank Falcon Jr. of New Iberia; five sisters, Julia LaCroix, Nazida “Ziddy” and her husband T.J. Petitjean, Louetta and her husband U.J. “Ducky” Prevost , all of Rayne, Pearl and her husband Preston Trosclair of Lafayette, and Jeanne and her husband Joe Dinette of New Iberia; one brother- in –law, Ben Meyer Sr. of Rayne; and one sister-in-law Mona Falcon of Rayne.
Pallbearers were Ben Meyer Sr., Frank Falcon Jr., Joel Falcon, Ben Meyer Jr., T.J. Petitjean, and Jean Hebert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Cavalier; her parents, Frank and Dora Hoffpauir Falcon Sr.; her step-mother, Julia B. Falcon; one brother, Clyde Falcon; and one sister, Virginia Meyer.
Ms. Cavalier was a members of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Ladies Altar Society and the Roberts Cove Homemakers Club.
Visitation was Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until services.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Joseph Milton Cormier
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Joseph Milton Cormier, 78, who died Monday, December 27, 2004, in Rayne Guest Home.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #1.
Survivors include his daughter, Dagmar Thibodeaux and husband Tom, of Rayne; two sons, George Cormier and wife Ginger, of Branch, and Rickey Cormier and wife Susan, of Lafayette; one sister, Gloria Denaise, of Lafayette; four brothers, Louis Cormier,Jr., of Lafayette, Wilton Cormier, of Lafayette, Larry Cormier, of New Iberia, and Gerald Cormier, of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, and nine great -grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amynthe Thibodeaux Cormier; parents, Louis Cormier, Sr. and Lillian Wilkens Cormier; and brothers.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and from 8:00 a.m. until time of services Tuesday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Robert Bob LeJeune
EUNICE –– Funeral services for Mr. Robert “Bob” LeJeune were held on Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at 2 p.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Edwards.
Burial followed in the church cemetery, with Father Dan Edwards and Father Floyd Calais officiating.
Mr. LeJeune, age 68 and a resident of Eunice, died on Wednesday, Dec. 15,2004, at 5:50 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was the owner/operator of Lejeune Machine Shop.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to play tennis. In his spare time, he also enjoyed reading.
Mr. LeJeune was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Anne LeJeune, a son, Mark LeJeune, and a brother, Learlin LeJeune.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Dec. 16, from 2 p.m until 10 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 17, from 8 a.m. until time of services.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Lita LeJeune of Eunice; a son, Robert LeJeune, II, of Los Angeles, Calif., six daughters, Rachelle LeJeune of Holland; Annette Christian and husband, Kenneth, of Santa Rose., Calif. Pamela Bertram and and husband, Kenneth of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Pamela Bertram and husband Anthony of Sydney, Australia; Sandra Perrodin of Rayne, Gayla Barrell and husband, Pete of Baton Rouge; and Nicole Collier and husband, William of Lafayette; a brother, A.R. “Snow” LeJeune and wife, Dee of Eunice; a sister, Mary Ann Rabalais of Pineville; and 14 grandchildren, Adrieene Turner, Danielle LeJeune Jacob Blenker, Anne Blenker, Kenneth Christian, IV, Meghan Perrodin, Kaitlyn Perrodin, Amber Perrodin, Guy Perrodin, II, Taylor Bertram, Stefone Bertram, John Robert Traylor, Adienne Collier, and Margaret Collier.
Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Leona Marie Zaunbrecher
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo IV Catholic Church for Leona Marie Zaunbrecher, 94, who died December 18, 2004, at 5:45 a.m. in Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crowley.
interment was in St. Leo IV Cemetery.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm Zaunbrecher and Marie Walburga Heinen, both immigrants who settled in Roberts Cove in the 1880’s from Schierwaldenrath and Gillrath areas of Germany; six brothers, Nicholas, William Frederick, Henry, Charles, Joseph and Anton Zaunbrecher; four sisters, Helen Z. Dischler, Augusta Z. Leonards, Annie Z. Leonards and Gertude Zaunbercher who died as an infant.
Miss Zaunbrecher was an active member of St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove. She was a member of St. Leo’s Altar Society, and has served as president.
The family expressed heartfelt thanks to the many family members and friends who gave their support and prayers at this time of need.
A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Sunday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time Monday.

Refeal S. Cormier
Refeal Stephen Cormier, 16, was born on December 30, 1987, to the union of Barbara J. Anderson and Kevin Malbrough in Rayne, La. On Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004 at 5:30 a.m. the doors of heaven opened and God’s glorious angles descended to University Medical Center to carry Refeal to his final resting place.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, in Cunningham C.M.E. Church.
Burial will be in South Crowley Cemetery.
Refeal was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rev. John Davis, Jr.; paternal uncle, Carl Malbrough; maternal grandmother, Ms. Joyce Batiste; and cousins, Stevanna H. Cormier and Phil Cormier.
Refeal leaves to mourn his mother, Barbara J. Anderson; his father, Kevin Malbrough; one brother, Nathan James Richard; one sister, Chaquanna Nicole (Bernard) Richard; one nephew, Daylan Divinetay Richard; his loving and faithful grandmother, Rita Georgie Davis; his maternal grandfather, Norris Julian; his paternal grandfather, Luke “L.B.” Malbrough; one aunt, Sharone (Tim) Davis; and eight uncles, Steve (Vickie) Cormier, Timothy Cormier, John (Tonya) Davis, Sr., Carlie (Shannon) Davis, Quentin Davis, Rev. Tyrone (Francesca) Davis, First Class Byron Malbrough of DeRidder, Conrad Malbrough of Killeen, Texas , and Terrell Malbrough of Lake Charles. He also leaves to mourn his godparents, Steve Cormier of Rayne and Kathy Guidry of Mississippi, along with a host of cousins, friends and associates.
Owen-Thomas Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

William Joseph Johnston, M.D.
METAIRIE –– William Joseph Johnston, M.D., died on Thursday, November 18, 2004, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Audrey Chevis Johnston and son of the late William Gladstone Johnston and the late Celine Landry Johnston.
He is also survived by two sons, William Joseph Johnston, Jr., M.D., and Bruce Sidney Johnston; daughters-in-law, Rosalie Junca Johnston and Anne Usry Johnston; four grandchildren, Allison Johnston DeViney, William Guy Johnston, William Cooper Johnston, and Margaret Blake Johnston; and one great grandchild, Garrett William DeViney; two sisters, Estelle Johnston Williams of Houston, Texas , and Barbara Johnston Sonnier, of Metairie; sister-in-law, Joyce Johnston of Rayne, and brother-in-law, Bill Williams of Houston; and many loving nieces and nephews.
H was preceded in death by his brothers, Guy Hamilton Johnston, Robert Harris Johnston, and Albert Lee Johnston.
He is also remembered by his beloved caregivers, Zulema Zuniga, Joyce McCall, and Lisa Thompson.
He was 85 years of age.
He was a native of Rayne, Louisiana and a resident of the New Orleans area for 64 years.
He was a graduate of Southwestern Louisiana Institute and the Louisiana State University School of Medicine.
He served as a Captain in the Medical Corps of the 96th Infantry Division, United States Army, in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement during the Okinawa campaign in 1945.
He was engaged in the private practice of medicine for 40 years, and also served as the Medical Director of the New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board for 34 years.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church for 64 years, serving as treasurer and as a devoted member of the church choir. He was a member of the Medical Staff of Southern Baptist Hospital.
Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church, 3401 Canal Street, New Orleans, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2004. Visitation was at First United Methodist Church on the day of the funeral from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to First United Methodist Church preferred.
Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edwin Joseph Picard
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Buddy Breaux officiating, for Edwin Joseph Picard, 85, of Rayne, who died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, in Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.
Burial was in Woodlawn Mausoleum in Crowley.
He is survived by two sons, Raymond Joseph Picard, Olive Branch, Miss., and Ronald Joseph Picard, Rayne;one daughter, Gloria John, Rayne; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Picard was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Villijoin Picard; one infant son; one infant daughter; parents, Bernard Picard and Octavia Trahan Picard; four brothers, Charles, Mayo, Avery and Germaine Picard; and one sister, Agnes Picard.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Joesph Earl “Cowboy” Broussard, Sr.
JUDICE –– Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Basil Catholic Church for Joseph Earl “Cowboy” Broussard, Sr., 56, who passes away Tuesday, Dec. 6,2004, at his residence in Ridge.
Father Rex Broussard was the celebrant of the Mass.
interment was in Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery in Rayne.
Blessed with many talents from which he supported his family as carpenter, electrician and plumber, “Cowboy” touched many with these gifts.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lydia Broussard of Ridge; two daughters, Andrea Broussard of Duson, and Tequila Broussard of Ridge; one son, Joseph Earl Broussard, Jr., of Ridge; three grandchildren, LaPagedrea DeAndre’ and Javon Broussard, all of Duson; his mother, Elizabeth Broussard of Rayne; four sisters, Judy Broussard, Ludy Bellard, and Ida Wycoff, all of Rayne, and Paula Wilcox of Houston, Texas ; and six brothers, Eddie Broussard, Kerold Broussard, Freddie Broussard, Paul Broussard, and Gerold Broussard, all of Rayne, and Francis Broussard, of Houston, Texas .
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph O’Neal Broussard.
Visitation was held Saturday, Dec. 111, at St. Basil Catholic Church, from 8 a.m. until time of services.
Syrie Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of funeral arrangements.
