Linda Stelly
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, in St. Joseph Church in Rayne, with Msgr. Russell Harrington officiating for Linda Stelly, 43, of Mire, who dided at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2004, in Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans.
She is survived by her husband, Roland Stelly, Mire; two daughters, Allyson Stelly, Mire, and Susan Stelly of Mire; two brothers, Sidney Credeur, Rayne and Duke Schultz, Scott; three sisters, Celida Stelly, Shirley LeBlanc and Jeannie Lagneaux, all of Rayne ; and a grandchild, Deandre Stelly.
She was a volunteer firefighter for the Mire Community and she was vice president of the Volunteer Department. She lived for the Fire Department.
She was a big supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Drive.
Her great love ws the outdoors like camping, fishing and swimming.
She loved to pay pokeno with all of her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Euris Credeur and Duke Schultz.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangments.

Michael John Batiste
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004 in Maryland Chapel C.M.E.Church in Branch, with the Rev. Jessie Banks, Sr., officiating, for Michael John Batiste, who died June 24, 2004, in his residence in Branch.
Burial was in the Maryland Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Batiste was born to the late Leroy “Neg” Batiste and Rena Boutte in Lawtell on Dec. 28, 1947.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife of 36 years, Chaney Batiste of Branch; two daughters, Hope (Sherron) Batiste of Branch, and Faith (Demoine) Declouette of Rayne; and one son, Scoey (Shemeka) Batiste of Branch; two sisters, Helen Wilbert and Annabell Batiste, both of Rayne; six grandchldren, Charity, Precious, Da Vin, De’Ante, Destini, and De’Vonnie; and a host of nieces, nephews, close friends and family.
Mr. Batiste was a member of the Trustee and Steward Boards as well as chairperson of the Bazaar Committee for a number of years.
He worked as a farmer for 27 years and a construction worker for nine years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
H.G. Raphael Funeral Home of Lafayette was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Henry Charles, Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004, in Our Mother of Mercy Shrine Church here for Henry Charles, Sr., who died Sunday, July 4, 2004, in the East Ridge Nursing Home in Abbeville
Visitation will be held at Our Mother of Mercy Shrine from 7 a.m. to time of services at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in Our Mother of Mercy Shrine Church.

Oscar Lee Petry
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004, in the Ebenezer Nazarene Church in Ebenezer, with Pastor Wayland Gawthrop officiating, for Oscar Lee Petry, 80, of Crowley, who died Monday, June 28, 2004, at 5 a.m. in the Crowley Guest Home.
Burial was in the Ebenezer Methodist Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, June Petry, Ebenezer; one daughter Debra and her husband Don, Groves, Texas ; two sisters, Chloe Harrington, Crowley, and Katie Faulk, Mauriceville, Texas ; three half-brothers, Ge orge Petry, Richmond, Va. Carson Petry and Winston Petry, both of Lafayette; one half-sister, Thelma Whited, DeRidder; one grandchild, Donita Turner and husband Chris, Groves, Texas ; and two great-grandchildren, Britni Tunrer and Colton Turner, both of Groves, Texas .
Mr. Petry served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. He retired From Gulf Oil in Port Arthur, Texas , in 1981, after working there for 34 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Lynn and Mattie Daily Petry, Sr.; two brothers, Creighton and Ernest Lynn Petry, Jr.; and three sisters, Lois Sarver, Olive Sarver and Marie Petry.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Lillian H. Credeur
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Lillian H. Credeur, 78, who died Monday, July 5, 2004, at 8:30 p.m. in Iberia Medical Center.
interment was in Assumption Cemetery in Mire.
Survivors include one son, Patrick Credeur and wife Sandra, of Lafayette; four daughters, Lynne Hebert and husband Paul, of Breaux Bridge, Barbara Guidry and husband Gerald, of Lafayette, Sylvia Bonin and husband Gilbert, of New Iberia, Judy Matte and husband Lee, of Mire; one brother, Jerry Richard and wife Susan, of New Iberia; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnicer “Man” Credeur; one son, Ronald “Brown” Credeur; parents, Gladis Hebert and Emetile Cormier Hebert; two brothers, Irvin Hebert, Reedliss Richard; one sister, Myrlis Richard.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the care given by her Guardian Angels Sylvia and Gilbert Bonin.
A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
Pallbearers were Patrick Credeur, Gilbert Bonin, Lee Matte, Gerald Guidry, Donovan Bonin, Donnie Guidry. Honary Pallbearers will be Jerry Richard, Paul Hebert, Manuel Gonzales, Byron “Scooter” Letchworth.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

John A. Lyons, Sr.
Welsh –– John A. Lyons, Sr, 82, gently Passed away in the company of his beloved wife of 63 years, Ruby, in their residence.
He was a native of Bosco and had been a resident of Welsh for the last 57 years. He was the owner and operator of Lyons Plumbing and Electrical. John had been the past President of Welsh Lyons Club, and was a founding member and past President of the Welsh Rod and Gun Club during which time he was involved in the installation of rollers to allow access to the Lacassine Wildlife Refuge. He was also involved in the restocking of the deer population at Ardoin Cove along with the Wildlife and Fisheries and was a co-founder of the Welsh Jug Hunt. John was a member of the Welsh VFW Martin Shipp Post, a previous member of the Welsh Greyhound Backers, and a past third degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ruby Lyons of Welsh; two sons, John Lyons, Jr. and wife, Marsha of Welsh, and Jimmy Lyons, and wife, Michelle of Jennings; two daughters, Donna Hayes Huval and husband, Hansel of Lafayette, and Loretta Lyons of Shreveport; one brother, Curney Lyons of Gonzales; two sisters, Dr. Virginia Lyons of Mire and Sr. Vernola Lyons of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren; and 11great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Bernadette Lyons; and two brothers, Paul Aaron Lyons and Leo Lyons.
His funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005, in Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. The Rev. Whitney Miller officiated.
Burial was in Our Lady of Seven Dolors Mausoleum under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. Pallbearers were Orsy Vanicor, and his grandsons, Scott Hayes, Michael Jolie, Jim Lyons, Jr, Matt Lyons, and Ben Lyons.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Romero, Lee Johnson , and Robert Taylor .
Visitation was from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday with a rosary service at 7 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday.

Terrance “Terry” O’Steen
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs, Miss., for Terrance “Terry” O’Steen, 62, of Ocean Springs, Miss., who died Sunday, July 24, at Singing River Rehabilitation Center following a seven month battle with symptoms as a result of a stroke.
A veteran of the United States Army, he is survived by his wife, Diana Gayle Guidry O’Steen of Ocean Springs, Miss., formerly of Rayne; his children, Jennifer James of Rayne, a daughter, Tammy, and her husband, Phillip Lewis of Edward, N.C.; a son, Tommy, and his wife, Eva O’Steen of New Burn, N.C.; a son, Tony, and his wife, Kathy O’Steen of Hobucken, N.C.; a son, Timmy, and his wife, Debra O’Steen of Leesburg, Fla.; an aunt and uncle, Francis and Harry Stephens of Homossasa, Fla.; and a number of grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Saudlin; and father, Marion O’Steen.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Glady Arceneaux
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held Monday, July 25, 2005, at 3 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Glady Arceneaux, 93. Mr. Arceneaux died Friday, July 22, 2005, in Crowley.
Father Matthew Higginbotham officiated for the services.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m.. until service time.
A rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl John Arceneaux of Crowley; two daughters, Ann Gossen and Emily Patin, both of Crowley; four sons, James Arceneaux of Crowley, Freddy Arceneaux of Kaplan, Edward Arceneaux of Houston, Texas , and Ronald Arceneaux of Matlacha, Fla.., 13 grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Arceneaux was preceded in death by his parents, Freddy and Louise Meche Arceneaux; a son, Robert Arceneaux; a brother, Travis Arceneaux; and two sisters, Dixie and Trixie Arceneaux.
Mr. Arceneaux worked for the Louisiana State Police and later retired from the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office. He also served in the Army during World War II.
Arrangements were entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.

Derek Neil Bush
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2005, in St. Joseph Catholic Church at a Mass of Christian Burial for Derek Neil Bush, 24, who died Thursday, July 21, 2005, in Crowley American Legion Hospital.
interment was in OLSH Cemetery #2 on Hwy 35 in Church Point.
Survivors include his parents, Linda Bush, of Lafayette, Jerome Bush, of Rayne; one half-brother, John Christopher Bush, of Branch; and paternal grandparent, Betty Bush, of Rayne.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dr. James R. Bush, Sr.; and maternal grandparents, Doloris Jardell and Jim Webb.
A rosary was recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.
