Homer Monceaux
CROWLEY –– Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2005, in Duhon Funeral Home’s Chapel, with Father David Broussard officiating, for Homer Monceaux, 88, of Crowley, who died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005, in Crowley’s Southwind Nursing Home.
Visitation began at 11 a.m. Wednesday until 10 p.m. and will continue Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
A rosary was prayed Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in the Istre Cemetery in Morse.
He is survived by one daughter, Lois LaFosse, Crowley; four stepsons, Carl Vincent, Shelby Vincent and Larry Vincent, all of Mermentau Cove, and Kurby Vincent, Gueydan; four stepdaughters, Tammie Hustak, Agusta, Mich., Debra Leger, Rayne, Cheryl Russell, Mermentau Cove, and Laura Kyle, Sulphur; two sisters, Anize Thibodeaux, Morse, and Azie Broussard, Crowley; 23 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Monceaux was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysse and Alice Stoute Monceaux; his first wife, Fannie Tullos Monceaux; his second wife, Florence Istre Monceaux; one grandson, Kurby Vincent, Jr.; one great-grandson, Alec Vincent; three brothers, Horace, Harvey and Pete Monceaux; two sisters, Ada Runnels and Ament Abshire.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, where he fought in the Battle of New Guinea. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, the Phillippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Charles R. “Buddy” Henry, Sr.
GLENWOOD SPRINGS – On May 21, 2005, at Glen Valley Care Center, our dear husband, father and grandfather, Buddy Henry, left this world peacefully at age 80.
He was born Jan. 5, 1925 to Morris Henry, Sr., and Lucille (Hungerford) Henry in Lafayette.
Buddy, a veteran of World War II, flew B24s for the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 through his honorable discharge in 1944.
He married Jeannine Marie Leonard on Nov. 26, 1953 in Lafayette.
A longtime resident of Lafayette and a graduate of the University of Southwest Louisiana , Buddy worked as a petroleum engineer for Drew Cornell, Inc. for 45 years.
After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Glenwoods Springs, where he had been a resident for the past seven years.
Buddy loved music and was an avid clarinetist and loved the music of Pete Foutain, the famed Dixieland jazz musician. He played and loved music all his life. When he could no longer play music, he still loved to listen, and was dancing the day before his passing. He also loved flying, and although he was not able to do so in recent years, his lifelong love of aviation never left him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Jeannine Leonard Henry; four children, Charles R. “Dick” Henry, Jr., (Joe) Jeannette Henry Abshire, Michael James Henry (Suzanne) and Eileen Henry Hunt (Christ); and seven grandchildren, Jared Abshire, Christopher Joseph Abshire, Daniel Wayne Abshire, Quenton Charles Henry, Margaret Jeannine Henry, Ethan Henry Hunt and Morgan Elsa Hunt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Morris Henry, Jr.
A Catholic Requiem Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Glenwood Springs.
interment followed the service at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs.
Farnum-Holt Funeral Home handled funeral arrangements.
Flowers were sent to Farmum-Holt Funeral Home.

Claude Courville
EUNICE – Funeral services were held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice, Sunday, July 10, 2005, at 4:00 p.m. for Mr. Claude Courville, 84, with burial following in St. Thomas More Cemetery.
Fr. Cedric Sonnier officiated.
Mr. Courville, a resident of Eunice, died on Friday, July 8, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at the Lafayette General Hospital.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a retired farmer and heavy equipment operator. He also served on the Acadia Parish Police Jury for 8 years and was on the board for the Bayou Mallet Drainage System and the Bayou Des Cannes Water System. Mr. Courville was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a St. Thomas More Parishioner. He enjoyed a full life of traveling, fishing, hunting, playing tennis, dancing, and most of all, his family.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie M. Courville of Eunice; one son, Jimmy Courville and wife, Carolyn of Eunice; three daughters, Mona Bertrand and husband, Willis and Myrna Miller and husband, Garrett all of Eunice, and T.C. Sittig and husband, Scott of Lake Charles; 12 grandchildren: Clay Courville and wife, Kristy, and their children, Layne and Sydnie; Jason Bertrand and wife, Kelly, and their children, Ashley Grace and Nicholas; Millie Dardar and husband, Chris, and their children, Mia and Cade; Brett Bertrand; Lee Miller and wife, Aimee; Kristin Elbert and husband, Charles, and their children, Haley and Luke; Wesley Miller; Alex Miller; Kody Sittig; Kayla Sittig; Vivian Miller; and Kourtney Sittig; three brothers, Wilson Courville of Lake Charles, Perry Courville of Alexandria, and Shelton Courville of Eunice; and one sister, Essie Fontenot of Opelousas.
Mr. Courville was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Wayne Courville; his parents, Adeleus and Lena Courville; three brothers, Joseph, Eddie, and Milton Courville; and five sisters, Edith Smith, Elia Smith, Amante Young, Nedia Miller, and Elta Courville.
The visitation was held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, July 9, 2005, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, July 10, 2005 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary was prayed on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m.
Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Eunice was in charge of arrangements.

Jacquelyn Dupont Olhenforst
ROBERTS COVE –– Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo Catholic Church in Roberts Cove for Jacquelyn "Jackie" Dupont Ohlenforst, 62, who died Friday, July 15, 2005, at her residence.
interment was in St. Leo Cemetery in Roberts Cove.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Francis "Tommy" Thomas Ohlenforst, of Roberts Cove; one daughter, Annette Simon and her husband Randy and two children Josh and Layla, of Rayne; two sons, Thomas Joseph "Joey" Ohlenforst and his wife Susan and three children T.J., Jacob and William, of Roberts Cove, Marcus Ohlenforst and his wife Brenda and three children Miranda, Tyler and Shelyn, of California; one sister, Carola Dupont Mitchell and her husband Johnny, of Covington; one brother, James Dupont and his wife Jewell, of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Dupont and Amelia Royer Dorr; and one brother, Marion Dupont.
Mrs. Ohlenforst was a native of Crowley and a resident of Roberts Cove. She was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Wildlife and Fisheries.
She was involved with the Faith Renewal program and a servant to the Lord. Her faith touched all who knew her and who were involved with her in the Germanfest.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed Sunday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until service time.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Wilda Stutes Guillot
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Rayne, with the Rev. John Locascio officiaitng, for Wilda Stutes Guillot, 82, who Passed away on June 26, 2005, in a hospital in Houston, Texas .
A reception will follow in the church’s educational building.
Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
She is survived by one daughter, Paula Guillot, Houston, Texas ; three sons and their wives, Tony and Anita Guillot and Greg and Rachael Guillot, all of Houston, Texas , and Fred and Regina Guillot, of Livingston, Texas ; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Fay S. Harrington of Lettsworth, La., and Gayle S. Foreman, Rayne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Guillot; a daughter, Linda Fay Guillot; her parents, Georgie H. Stutes and Pierre Stutes; and two brothers, Murry Stutes and Donald (“Brother”) Stutes.

Lexie Renae Lively
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel for Lexie Renae Lively, 4, of Rayne, who died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at 11:57 p.m. at Woman’s & Children’s Hospital in Lafayette.
A rosary was recited Wednesday night, July 20, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday.
She is survived by her mother, Misty Lively, Rayne; father, Kim Lyons, Rayne; one sister, Madalyn Lyons, Rayne; a half-sister, Taylor Smith, Rayne; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, John and Brenda Griggs, The Colony, Texas ; maternal grandfather, Alan L. Lively, Lafayette; maternal great-grandmother, Enola Howe, Rayne; maternal great-grandmother, Evelyn Lively, Fort Smith, Ark.; godparents, Katina Lyons, Rayne, and Alan B. Lively, The Colony, Texas ;
Little Lexie ws preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Allen and Mary Lyons; her maternal grandfather, Sam Lively; her maternal great-grandfather, Leroy Matte; her paternal great-grandparents, Clarence and Rose Mae Lyons and Adrien and Milda Guidry.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Liness A. Matte
Liness A. “Matte” Matte, 65, of Moss Bluff died at 4:50 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2005, in a Lake Charles hospital.
Mr. Matte was born and raised in Church Point, and had lived in the Lake Charles/Moss Bluff area for the past 36 years.
He worked for Wiengarten’s for 14 years as a meat-cutter. Mr. Matte was self-employed for 17 years before retiring in 2000. He was the owner and operator of Matte’s Quick Stop in Big Lake, Matte’s Cajun Kitchen in Lake Charles and Matte’s Homemade Boudin and Sausage in Moss Bluff.
He was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing.
Mr. Matte was survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Eula Leger Matte of Moss Bluff; two sons, Brian Matte and wife Tania of El Dorado, Ark., and David Matte of Kaplan; two daughters, Angela David and husband Hal of Edwards, Miss., and Arlene Cook of Moss Bluff; three grandchildren, Timothy Tomplait, Jr. of Edwards, Miss., Andrew Cook of Edwards, Miss., and Emily Cook of Moss Bluff; step-grandchildren, Brandi Myers of Sulphur, Kirk Langley of Westlake, Maxie Taylor of Carlyss, Paula Doucette of Moss Bluff, Brandy Primeaux and husband Jeremy of Sulphur, Colleen Doucette of Moss Bluff and Megan Doucette of Sulphur; three brothers, Gurvais Matte and wife Vermae of Lafayette, Winferd Matte and wife Janell of Opelousas, and Vinest Matte, Jr. of Jackson ville, Fla.; and four sisters, Wilma Myers of Rayne, Rosella Cormier and husband Irby of Mire, and Bertha Gallett and Anna Moreno, both of Lafayette.
Mr. Matte was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Paul Matte; daughter-in-law, Georgie Cormier Matte and parents, Vinest Matte, Sr. and Marie Mire Matte.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2005, at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois officiated.
Burial followed at Leger Cemetery in Rayne. Visitation was at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. and continued on Monday from 9 a.m. until the start of the service at St. Theodore Catholic Church.

Christopher John Bernard
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005, in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Christopher John Bernard, 26, who died Saturday, July 16, 2005 ,in Alexandria.
interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
Survivors include his wife, Lesa T. Bernard; two daughters, Taylor Paige Bernard and Lauren Jade Willow Bernard; one stepdaughter, Lakyn Gaspard; one step-son, Ewell Gaspard IV; mother and step-father, Gale and Paul Johnson , father and stepmother, Patrick and Fran Bernard; one brother, Sean Bernard; maternal grandparents, Richard and Verna Barbier; and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Ellen Picard.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Emery Bernard.
Christopher graduated from Rayne High School in 1997.
A rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.
