Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Brother Felix officiating, for Betty Campbell, 48, of Duson, who died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at 2 p.m. in Vermilion Health Care in Nunez.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in St. Theresa Cemetery in Duson.
She is survived by a companion, Daniel Domingue, Duson; one daughter, Danielle Campbell, Duson; three sisters, Linda Andrus, Branch, Lovina Seaux, Crowley, and Mildred LaSalle, Kaplan; eight brothers, Morris Michael Campbell, Sr., Ray Campbell, and Alton Campbell, all of Rayne, and David Campbell, Donnie Campbell, L.J. Campbell, Allen Campbell and Alvin Campbell, all of Duson; and three grandchildren, Lana Campbell, Codi Campbell and Cori Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Morris and Mrs. Inez Campbell, and one son, Morris Campbell.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

John Allen Byrd
Funeral services for John Allen Byrd, 21, of Lawtell, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Greg Gaspard officiating. Mr. Byrd died at 8:25 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2004, at a friend’s home in Lawtell.
Burial was in the St. Bridget Cemetery in Lawtell.
He is survived by his fiance, Lauren Macklin, Lawtell; his mother, Linda Byrd, Washington ; stepfather, Dwayne Authement, Lawtell; six brothers, Ricky Byrd, Patterson, Kenneth Byrd, New York, Lee Byrd, Lawtell, David Byrd, Opelousas, Danny Byrd, Ville Platte, and Bartless Byrd, Jr., Opelousas; three sisters, Cheryl Gibson, Charolette, N.C., Betty Roberie, Opelousas, and Linday Gayle Bernard, Scott; special friends, Simon and Simone Hebert, Lawtell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bartless Byrd, Sr.; grandparents, Whitney Ryder and Ella Ryder; and Maggie and Walter Byrd.
Mr. Byrd worked for Simon Hebert Home Improvements.
Duhon Funeral Home of ChurchPoint was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Henry J. Meyer, Jr.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Crowley, with Father Rusty Richard officiating, for Henry J. Meyer, Jr., 62, of Crowley, who died at 6:20 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, Southwind Nursing Home in Crowley.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Friday.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by four brothers, Ben Meyer, Rayne, Ronald Meyer, Conroe, Texas , and Harold Meyer and wife Carol, and Lee Meyer and wife Shirley, all of Crowley; four sisters and their husbands, Sylvia and Claude Cochran of Pasadena, Texas , Marjorie and Louis (Bud) Simar, Anna Lois and Francis Lormand, and Doris and Farol Guidry, all of Crowley; 25 nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews; and three great-great-nieces.
Pallbearers were Ben Meyer, Jr., Marcus Meyer, Gerald Guilbeaux, John Leonard Andre, Jeffery Lormand and Alva Dan Meyer.
Honorary pallbearers were Ben Meyer, Harold Meyer, Ronald Meyer and Lee Meyer.
Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elna Lafleur Meyer, Sr.; one brother, Gerald Meyer; and two sisters-in-law Virginia and Loretta Meyer.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Viola Bertrand
CROWLEY ––Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004, in Parkerson Avenue Baptist Church, with Brother Ernst Tyepfer officiating, for Viola Bertrand, 82, of Crowley, who died at 11:25 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2004, in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
She is survived by two sons, Wilber and Beulah Bertrand, Crowley, and Lenwood and Susie Bertrand, Pineville; on daughter, Linda Mae and Lyndrus Primeaux, Crowley; one son-in-law, John G. Hanks, Crowley; one sister, Etna Dupuis, Berwick; one brother, Calvin and Amarone Soileau, Opelousas; 11 grandchildren, Josette, Shenny, Wilbur (Bubba), Krystal, Joni, Jessica, Mary, Cheryl, Matthew, Jay, and Lynn Joseph; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Ms. Bertrand was preceded in death by her husban, Austin Bertrand; one son, Raymond Bertrand; two sisters, Lydia Thibodeaux and Ella Fruge, and her parents, Decoudra and Melazie Ledoux Soileau.

Woodrow Thomas Poimboeuf
RALEIGH, N.C. –– Woodrow Thomas Poimboeuf, Sr., 85, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, in Raleigh, N. C.
He was a native of Rayne, had lived in DeQuincy for 40 years and Raleigh, N.C. for six years.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Garner, N.C. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in World War II. He also was a member of the VFW and the American Legion of Vinton. He was a graduate of Eunice High School.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Poimboefu of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Woodrow T. Poimbouef, Jr., of Montgomery, Texas ; one step-son, Roland Theriot of DeQuincy; one step-daughter, Annette Brown of Singer; one brother, Charles Poimboeuf of Baton Rouge; one sister, Yvonne Leger of Rayne; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtis Poimoeuf; a daughter, Kathy Hardy; and a sister, Helen Pomboeuf.
His funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2004, in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
Deacon Fred Reed officiated.
Burial was in Graceland Cemetery.

Hilda Duplechin Miller
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2004 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Hilda Duplechin Miller, 80, of Rayne, who died at 1:10 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette on Saturday, June 26, 2004.
Three rosaries were prayed:at 3 p.m. by the Ladies Altar Society, at 5 p.m. by the Carmelites and 7 p.m. by the parish in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce and Delton Meche and Priscilla Simon, all of Rayne, and Shirley Landry, Crowley; two sons, Roy and Patricia Miller, Rayne, and Dale and Tina Miller, Church Point; one sister, Theresa Savoy, Rayne; three brothers, J.B. Duplechin and Dewey Duplechin, both of Lafayette, and Kermit Duplechin, Rayne; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Miller; her parents, Hubert and Azelila CourvilleDuplechin; and one grandchild, Julia Meche.
Pallbearers were Perry Meche, Nick Miller, Kevin Meche, Brandon Miller, Neil Simon, and Matthew Miller.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the St. Joseph Altar Society, Third Order Lay Carmelites, and the Good Samaritans.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Norris Spell
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Truman Stagg officiating, for Norris Spell, 64, of Crowley, who died at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2004, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
Burial was in the Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery.
He is survived by one sister, Dorothy McClelland, Lake Charles, one brother, William Spell, Hots Springs, Ark.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Spell was preceded in death by his parents, Lennix and Mattie Duhon Spell; five sisters, Helen Foreman, Gladys Broussard, Dannie Stover, Pearly Hargrave, and Buelah Sopota; and one brother, Alton Spell.

David Charles Laughlin
Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 19, 2004 at a 1:00 p.m. service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for David Charles Laughlin, age 22, who died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at his residence in Lafayette.
interment was in the St. John Cemetery.
The Reverend Steve Michael Guidry conducted the funeral services. Barbara Broussard, soloist, sang several musical selections.
Survivors include his mother, Darline Blanchard Laughlin; his father, Dr. Thomas J. Laughlin; one sister, Anne Marie Laughlin; paternal grandparents, William Laughlin and Wilma Laughlin; maternal grandmother, Agnes Blanchard, his aunt and uncle, Sue and Donald Guidry.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Charles Blanchard and one uncle, Billy Laughlin.
A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, and a resident of Lafayette, David was a student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, majoring in General Studies.
He was a beloved son, brother and grandson. David loved playing guitar and also enjoyed skate boarding.
Family and friends gathered at Vermilionville’s Rest-aurant following the services.
Pallbearers were Lonney Girouard, Bert Girouard, Donald Guidry, Grady Breaux and David’s best friends, Chad and Jonathan. Honorary pallbearer was Scott Smith.
Arrangements were entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette.

Barbara Anne “Sallie” Morgan Broussard
Funeral services were held at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Barbara Anne “Sallie” Morgan Broussard, 73, who died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at her residence surrounded by four generations of family and following a brave battle with cancer.
interment took place at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Scott.
Rev. Mario Romero, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton, was celebrant of the Mass and conducted the funeral services.
Mrs. Broussard, the daughter of the late Shelton D. Morgan, Sr. and the former Marie Mersch, was a native of Rayne and resident of Carencro.
Sallie’s family lovingly remembers her kind-hearted, generous nature and her zest for living. Her friends noted that she was blessed with many gifts and talents. Sallie used her gifts to brighten the lives of loved ones and strangers alike. She was a talented porcelain doll maker and crafted more than 200 dolls. She was also an artist, seamstress, decorator and cook. She restored numerous religious statues for churches and homes. Her work in St. John Berchman’s Church of Cankton touched the lives of other parishioners and the sick. Sally also gave her time to nursing home residents.
She held memberships in many organizations including St. John Berchman’s Altar Society, Catholic Daughters Court #2317 in Carencro, Our Loving Lady Rosary Group and Our Lady Rosa Mystica Prayer Group. Sallie was also a rosary leader, Eucharistic Minister and world traveler. She especially enjoyed her pilgrimages to Fatima, Lourdes, Medjugorje and Guadalupe. She was devoted to her church, Padre Pio and the Chaplet of Tears and to her favorite prayer, the Divine Mercy Rosary. Sallie received the Miraculous Medal for the Children of Mary Program.
The deceased leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Sidney Linest Broussard; one brother, Shelton D. Morgan, Jr. and his wife Betty; one sister, Naomi M. Chaote; six children, Scott J. Broussard and his wife Colleen, Barbara Fontenot and her husband Jerry, Terrie Simpson and her husband Chuck, Jody Broussard and his wife Laura Jean, Laura Zaunbrecher and husband Greg, and Shelley Marr and her husband Danny; sixteen grandchildren, Natalie Lemoine and husband Lewis, Victoria Broussard, Cody and Ali Fontenot, Tyler, Matthew, and Shelby Simpson, Blanche, Cory, and Gregory Zaunbrecher, Christy and Scott Broussard, Amy Brazda, Stephanie Brown, and Phillip and Jacklyn Marr. Sallie also leaves behind one great-grandson, Cole Michael Lemoine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shell D. Morgan and Marie Mersch Morgan.
Visiting hours were observed on Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and continued on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
A Rosary was recited by the Ladies Altar Society on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers were Cody Fontenot, Tyler and Matthew Simpson, Gregory Zaun-brecher, Randy Choate, and Shelton Morgan.
The family of Sallie Broussard extends their sincerest gratitude to Kelly Zaunbrecher of Hospice of Acadiana and staff, Dr. John Rainey, Felicia Fontenot and staff, Sister Ignatius, Mary Angelle, Lucille Venable, Anna Lawrence and so many others who prayed for Sallie and her family.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, was in charge of all funeral arrangements.
