Joseph Mouton
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, in Cunningham C.M.E. Church here with the Rev. M.K. Rucker officiating, for Joseph Mouton, 86, of Rayne, who died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at his home in Rayne.
Visitation will be observed at the Cunningham C.M.E. Church from 9 a.m. until time of services.
Burial will follow in Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery in Rayne.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Clifton and Cynthia Mouton, Slidell, and Jerry and Willia Mouton, Euless, Texas ; two daughters, Ella Mouton and Jennifer Mouton, both of Rayne; three sisters, Tarzie Rosette Hahnville, Mary Eva M. Lee, St. Martinville, and Edna Mae Mouton, Rayne; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Mouton was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Louis Mouton; one son, Shedrick Mouton; his parents, Isom Mouton and Elnora Mathews Moutons, and siblings.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Cunningham C.M.E. Church in Rayne and a member of the Ruclark Masonic Lodge No. 194.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Arthur Ray ‘Bojanle’ Bossier, Sr.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m.Sunday, June 13, 2004, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel here for Arthur Ray Bossier, Sr., 44, of Port Arthur, Texas , who died Monday, June 7, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. in Park Place Medical Center in Port Arthur.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Mouton Bossier; mother, Clara J. Bossier; two children, a son, Arthur R. Bossier, Jr., and a daughter, Latonya M. Bossier Polk; one grandchild, Malik Sampy; brothers, Larry Edwards, Kenvin Bossier, DeRoy Bossier, Bayou Bercier; and sisters, Clara Hart, Lori Bossier, Sarah Bossier, Marie Bossier, Opal Gray, Mattie Champagne, and Jill Rochin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Voohries J. Bossier, Sr., two brothers, Voohries Bossier, Jr, and Jerrell Bossier; and a sister, Orelia Jackson .
Mr. Bossier worked offshore until he became disabled.

Mazie Marie Mouton Benton
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.Thursday, June 10, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Michael Champagne officiating, for Mazie Marie Mouton Benton, 72, of Rayne, who died at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at her home in Rayne.
Visitation will be observed from 8 a.m. on Wednesday until time of services on Thursday.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Benton, Crowley; one son and his wife, Ronald and Gladys Garrie, Sr., Rayne; two daughters and spouses, Patricia and Alton Thibodeaux, and Debra Benton, all of Rayne; a grandson she raised, Joshua Benton, Dallas, Texas ; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Whitney Garrie; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dermas Mouton; and one sister, Flavie M. Lavergne.
Mrs. Mazie worked for the Duhon Funeral Homes in Rayne and Crowley at the beginning until her health started failing.
Pallbearers will be Josh Benton, Maurice Thibodeaux, Karl Weber, Jerry Thibodeaux, Ronald Garrie, Jr., and Steve Kibodeaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Lavergne, Darrell Dugas and Troy Veronie.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Velma Doy Foreman
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26, 2005, at 3 p.m. in the Indian Bayou United Methodist Church in Indian Bayou, with the Rev. John Locascio officiating, for Velma Doy Foreman, 81, of Rayne, who died at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at her home.
Visitation was observd Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Duhon Funeral Home in Rayne and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Burial was in the Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Glynn and Linda Sarver Foreman, and James and Marlene Sonnier Foreman, all of Rayne; five grandchildren, Darla Foreman, Tracie Foreman, Christopher Foreman, Melanie Foreman, and Jonathon and Kim Foreman; six great-grandchildren, Jordy Gassiott, Ayriell Collins, Devon Roy, Tori Collings, Kainen Louviere, and Kaycee Forreman; one great-great-granddaughter, Jordyn Gassiott; one sister, Violett Hoffpauir Foreman, Baytown, Texas ; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Laughlin, Crowley, and Adelaide Hoffpauir, Houston, Texas ; and many nieces and nephews she loved as her own.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Williard W. “Bill” Foreman; one son, Williard W. “Billy” Foreman, Jr.; her parents, Albert and Nora Bell Spell Hoffpauir; and five siblings.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Helen Jolivette Key
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Buddy Breaux officiating, for Helen Jolivette Key, 85, of Rayne, who died at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, in Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visitation was observed on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 Mauseleum.
She is survived by her husband, John Wilson Key, Rayne; one son, John A. Key, Rayne; and one sister, Edna Jolivette, Rayne.
Mrs. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. William Jolivette and Mrs. Angela Jolivette; and three sisters, Rhena, Marie and Theresa Jolivette.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ruby Bearb Arceneaux
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Ruby Bearb Arceneaux, 76, who died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at her residence.
Entombment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2 Mausoluem.
Survivors include her husband, Charlie Arceneaux, of Rayne; three sons, Kenneth Arceneaux and wife Phyllis, of Rayne, Giles Arceneaux and wife Martha, of Conroe, Texas ., Frank Arceneaux, of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and one very close friend, Lois Myers, of Rayne.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed on Monday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Emily Abshire
LAKE CHARLES –– Emily Abshire, 64, died at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Abshire was a native of Rayne and had lived in Lake Charles for the past 34 years. She worked for Resthaven Nursing Center as a certified nurses assistant.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to play bingo and she was a great cook.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Joseph Edes Abshire of Lake Charles; two daughters, Brenda G. and Debbie K, Abshire, both of Lake Charles; five sons, Kenneth W. Abshire of Baton Rouge, Jessie R. Abshire of Bronson, Texas , Billy J. Abshire of Sulphur, Donald T. Abshire of Iowa, and Steve Abshire of Lake Charles; two sisters, Eunella Guidry of Rayne, and Lucille Atkinson of Carlyss; one brother, Danice Breaux of Rayne; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adelicia and Frank Breaux.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2005, in Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Keith Pellerin officiated.
A graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Abshire Cemetery in Kaplan.
Visitation was observed from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary at 5:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. Friday.

Cornelius Chevis
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005, in Mt. Clavary Baptist Church in Branch, with the pastor, the Rev. Craig G. Gregory officiating, for Cornelius Chevis, 83, who died at 2 p.m.March 26, 2005, at Lafayette General Hospital.
interment will be in Maryland Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.Saturday in the church.
Mr. Chevis worked worked for Rimmer & Garrett Construction on the road for many years, then moved to the shop and worked as a mechanic until his health failed and he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Roby Chevis of Rayne; two daughters, Gracie C. Jolivette and Leona C. (Matthew) LeBlanc , all of Rayne; six grandchildren, Dennis R. Jolivette (Lorette), Germaine M. Lewis (Brent), Denver J. Babineaux, Jr. (Brandy) of EuniceKimberly R. Jolivette, Erica D. Jolivette, Shawn K. Richard; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Eva C. Richard; two godchildren, Mary Virgina Brown of Crowley and Agnes H. Minix of Rayne; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Chevis and Agnes Wilridge; three siters, Laura C. Yokum, Mable C. Morrison, and Maggie C. Milstead; two borthers, Raymond Chevis and John Chevis; and one son-in-law, Roger Jolivette.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Jolivette, Greg Minix, Sr., Lester Bias, David Martin, Wesley Jacobs and Joseph Chevis.
Syrie Funeral Home of Lafayette is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Eunice Marie Andrus
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church for Eunice Marie Andrus, 83, who Passed away Sunday, March 27, 2005, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visitation will be observed Friday, April 1, 2005, at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church from 5 to 9 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. and will resume at the church on Saturday, April 2, from 8 a.m. until time of services.
Father Richard Wagner, O.J.J., will be the celebrant of the Mass.
interment will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by one son, Tim Mayfield and his wife Marilyn of Rayne; one daughter, Edna M. Broussard and her husband, Antoine, of Rayne; five grandchildren, Joanetta Kourouma and her husband, Mathieu, Daniel Mayfield, Sr., Timeka Mayfield, Anthony Mayfield, and Timothy Mayfield; one great-grandson, Daniel Mayfield, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Edan Mercier Andrus; an infant son, Raymond Lee; and two brothers, Alex Andrus and Mabry Andrus.
Syrie Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette was in charge of funeral arrangements.
