Phillip Alleman, Sr.
EUNICE –– Funeral services for Phillip Alleman, Sr., were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice.
interment followed at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
A rosary was prayed Sunday evening.
Mr. Alleman Passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Eunice Community Hospital. He fought a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mr. Alleman was a native of Rayne, and was living in Eunice where he was employed by the City of Eunice. He was also a well-known musician, starting at an early age with the Lafayette Playboys.
He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Leger Alleman, of Eunice; six sons, John of Milton, Fla., Phillip, Jr. and Hugh Anthony, both of Duson, James of Church Point, Paul of Scott, and Phillip Andre’ of Eunice; two daughters, Jermaine A. Smith, of Scott, and Carmen A. Faulk, of Duson; one brother, Octave “OJ” Alleman, of Cottonwood, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Alleman was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Navarre Alleman in 1990; his parents, Octave and Onelia Royer Alleman; two brothers, Clarence and Ellis “Brud” Alleman; and four sisters, Evelyn A. Moncise, Maude LaFleur, Jeanne A. Augustine, and Lena A. Credeur.
Quirk & Son Funeral Home of Eunice was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Alice Marie Hoffpauir
INDIAN BAYOU –– Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, in Indian Bayou Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Locascio officiating, for Alice Marie Hoffpauir, 81, of Lafayette, who died at 12:10 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005, in the Autumn Breeze Nursing Home in Lafayette.
Visitation was observed at the church Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
She is survived by one brother, Blanchard Dale Hoffpauir, Lafayette; a sister-in-law, Betty Hoffpauir, Metaire; a niece, Lou Mongomery, Houston, Texas ; a nephew, Arnold Ray Hoffpauir, Jr., Vinton, Texas ; and a host of cousins.
Miss Hoffpauir was a native of Indian Bayou but a resident of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose Morgan and Eaton Hoffpauir.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Rita Trahan Privat
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Rita Trahan Privat, 80, who died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at 7:30 a.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Father Buddy Breaux, associate pastor for St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated for the services.
The family requested visiting hours be observed from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. to service time Tuesday.
A rosary was recited Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne.
Survivors include two sisters, Evelyn T. “Red” Istre of Crowley, and Patricia T. “Pat” Schneider and her husband Ray of Roberts Cove; brother, R.C. Trahan and his wife Maxie of Tucker, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Mary S. Trahan of Crowley and Julie P. Ousse of Lafayette; 25 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Privat was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony S. “Tony” Privat; her parents, Calise and Amy Simon Trahan; one sister, Ruby M. “Nannie” Trahan and one brother, Glady J. Trahan; two nieces, Amy Rene’ Trahan and Miia Aline Trahan; two great-nieces, Rosalind Trahan and Bonnie Grace Morgan Schneider; and one great-nephew, Gerard Hains.
Pallbearers were Dennis Istre, John Trahan, Butch Ousse, Emile Trahan, Peter Trahan and Jude Schneider.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70503-3240.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

John Gillard Romero
John Gillard “Gil” Romero was born in Rayne, La. Nov. 17, 1931. He lived on the street where he was born until he died on March 31, 2003.
Gil was preceded in death by his parents .Laurence and Lucille Romero Sr.; and one brother Laurence Romero Jr.
He is survived by three loving sisters who will miss him very much. His sisters are Lou Cavys, of Lake Charles, Patsy Herring of Pasadena Texas ., and Sheila Wells of Houston Texas .; eleven neices and nephews, and four great neices and nephews.
Gil loved sports, walking, reading, golf, with his many friends and had a special love for horses and horse racing. He loved the horse farms in Kentucky and always watched the Kentucky Derby.
A lifelong resident of Rayne, Gil loved his home town. He had many favorite places but his most favorite was the Rayne Library. He loved the people there and he went everyday to read and visit. He said they treated him like a King.
The family request that any remembrance or donations, be made to the Rayne Library.

Paul E. Guidry
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS –– Paul E. Guidry, 83, formerly of Rayne, died in San Antonio, Texas , on Monday, March 31, 2003.
He was born in Rayne on June 30, 1919.
A rosary was recited on Wednesdsay at 7 p.m. by his sister and godchild, Jeanette G. Leger, and nephew, Dr. John Charles Guidry at the Sunset Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered by Father Peter McKenna at the St. Pius X Catholic Church on Thursday, April 3, 2003, at 10 a.m. The readings were proclaimed by Jeanette Leger. Offertory gifts were brought up by Lizzie Dick and Gail Crisp, goldchildren of the deceased.
Emtombment with military honors was conducted at the Holy Cross Catholic Mausoleum. The U.S. flag was presented to his grandson, William Brown.
Pallbearers were his brother-in-law, Clifton Broussard of Port Arthur, Texas , his nephews, Oday Lavergne of Alexandria, Ronald Blanchard of Lafayette, Claud Crisp of Cotulla, Glenn Dick, and longtime friend Jerry Elsworth, both of San Antonio, Texas .
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Guidry served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Abilene, Texas , and at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.
Upon discharge, he made San Antonio his home, going into the restaurant business. He was owner and chef of the Corner Café, a business his wife shared with him. He was in business at the same location from 1945 to 1985, on the property of Alamo Iron Works until its expansion. He relocated one block away until his retirement in 1989.
He was very active in his church community; a founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, a member of Hermann Sons, and with his expertise in food preparation was usually in charge of those types of church functions.
He is survived by two daughters, Margaret G. Brown, her husband “Willard “Bill” Brown and Grace G. Dorrington, her husband, William “Bill” Dorrington, one grandson, William Paul Brown, all of San Antonio, Texas ; three brothers, Lawrence Guidry and spouse Exaltha of Gretna, La; Harry Guidry and spouse Liz of Alvin, Texas , John J. Guidry, M.D., and spouse Julie of Rayne; four sisters, Viola G. Blanchard, of Scott, Ella Mae G. Foreman, Marie Louise G. Broussard, and Jeannette G. Leger, and her husband, Willie L. Leger, all of Rayne; sisters-in-law, Lillian H.Guidry of Rayne, Anna D.Guidry of Broussard, and Lurline D. Guidry of Nederland, Texas .
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mathilda Lavergne, also a native of Rayne; his parents, Eloi and Anne Caillier Guidry; one sister, Julia; three brothers, Dennis, Gerald and Rodney; and two nephews, Gerald Jr. and Donald Guidry.

Patsy Leger Reinis
Patsy Leger Reinis, 44, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, died March 23, 2003, at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Reinis of Port St. Lucie, Florida; her two friends, Malibu and Brandy; her mother, Hilda Leger of Church Point; a brother, Hilton Leger and wife Norma of Scott; two sisters, Judy Istre and her son Jason of Crowley and Bernadine Guidry and her husband Gene of Carencro; and her godchild Michelle Dugas of Rayne.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emery Leger; her nephew, Chris Guidry and his son Brennan Guidry; her maternal grandparents, Theolise and Souille Thibodeaux; and paternal grandparents Dennis and Edna Leger.
Funeral services were held on March 26 at 3:30 p.m. at Forest Hills Funeral Home in Palm City, Florida.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 2 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church at 1:00 p.m.

Jules F. “Buzz” Mier, Jr.
Jules F. “Buzz’ Mier, Jr., 56, a native of Rayne, La., was killed Thursday, March 27, in a helicopter crash while aiding NASA in the search and recovery of the wreckage of the space shuttle Columbia in Angelina National Forest near Lufkin, Texas .
Mr. Mier had been a long time resident of Enterprise, Ala. He had worked for a civilian contractor as a flight instructor at Fort Rucker for 19 years. Since 1996, Mr. Mier had lived at Grand Canyou, Ariz., where he worked as lead pilot for Papillon Helicopters.
Mr. Mier is survived by two children, Renee Mier Smith, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Stacy Mier of Kernersville, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Misty Mier; two grandchildren, Jordan and Cori; and his former wife, Millie Mier of Enterprise, Ala. He is also survived by two sisters, Julene M. Foreman of New Orleans, La., and Nancy M. McHale of Oak Harbor, Wash.
Memorial services will be held at Canyon side on Saturday, April 5.

Maureen Spell Broussard
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2002, in the Northside Assembly of God, with the Rev. Lloyd Singley officiating, for Maureen Spell Broussard, 73, of Indian Bayou, who died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at her home in Indian Bayou.
Burial followed in the Indian Bayou United Methodist Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Broussard, Indian Bayou; one siter, Ruth Spell, Indian Bayou; and two brothers, Frank Spell, Jr., and Edwin Spell, both of Indian Bayou.
Mrs. Broussard lived in Baytown, Texas , for 40 years from 1949 to 1989. In 1989, she returned to Indian Bayou, where she was a native.
She sang in the Trinity Tabernacle Assembly of God Church in Baytown, Texas , for 17 years. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers.
Mrs. Broussaard was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Breaux Spell; ;four brothers, Tracy, Merl, Earl, and Wilfred Spell; and two sisters, Rose Spell Foreman and Anez Spell Hoffpauir.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Dorothy Madeline Boudreaux Tweedel
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, with Father Nicki Trahan officiating, for Dorothy Madeline Boudreaux Tweedel, 78, of Church Point, who died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at 12 p.m. in Doctors Hospital in Opelousas.
A rosary was recited Monday night in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Carencro.
She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Sue and Oran Thibodeaux, Glynn, Shirley and Gary Hoffpauir, Lafayette, and Peggy and Russel Oliver, Crowley; two brothers, Melvin Boudreaux, Church Point, and Allen Boudreaux, Sulphur; one sister, Lydina Ryer, Sulphur; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Tweedel was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Austin Tweedel; her parents, Ulyesse Boudreaux and Honora Comeaux; one son, Patrick Tweedel; and three sisters, Eula Bourque, Eve Meche, and Rose Mae Comeaux.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.
