Roy Smith, Sr.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at 11 a.m. in Duhon Funeral Home’s Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Smith officiating, for Roy Smith, Sr., 68, of Crowley, who died at 9:33 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2003, in the Bayou Village Nursing Center in Crowley.
Burial was in the Ky Hebert Cemetery
in Roberts Cove.
He is survived by two sons and their spouses, Roy and Julie Smith, Sr., Rayne, and David and Amanda Smith, Hicks; two daughters, Linda Ann and Ralph Finimore, Bossier City, and Lisa Regan, Roberts Cove; one brother, the Rev. Harold Smith, Marks, Miss.; one sister, Virginia Klumpp, Roberts Cove; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Hattie Hollie Smith; and one sister, Veronica Sue Clark.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Louisiana High School Boxing Association.

Whitney Simon
CARLYSS –– Whitney Simon, 82, Passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in a Lake Charles hospital.
He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, DAV and the American Legion. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II and he was a prisoner of war for two years.
He retired from Citi Service Plant after 27 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Simon of Carlyss; four children, Terry Simon and Teddy James Simon, both of Sulphur, Sheila Oliver of Lake Charles and Timothy Simon of Houston; three sisters, Beulah Simon of Crowley, Bernice Simon of Kaplan and Veda Davis of Lafayette; one brother, Andrus Simon of Rayne; nine grandchildren, Terrry Tenney, Karmin Bertrand, Cody Guidry, Jamie Couvillion, Amy Simon, Alexandra Simon, Craig Simon, Jenifer Simon and Taylor Simon; and one great-grandchild, Makeala Bertrand.
His funeral was at 2 p.m . Friday, March 14, 2003, from St. Theresa Catholic Church. The Rev. Francis Fritzsimmons officiated.
A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Burial was in Mimosa Pines Cemetery
under the direction of Robison Funeral Home.
Lula Marie Chaisson
SCOTT –– Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2003, in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church here, with Father Raymond Iwugi officating, for Lula Marie Chiasson, 78, of Scott, who died at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003, at Evangeline Oaks in Carcencro.
A rosary was said at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Burial was in the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery
in Scott.
She is survived by four sons and their spouses, Francis and Norma Chiasson, Scott, Wilson and Judy Chaisson, Sunset, Terry and Jane Chiasson, of Duson, and Dalton and Barbara Chiasson of Indiana; one daughter and her spouse, Brenda and Andrus Arceneaux of Church Point; 19 grandchildren; four step-grandchilldren; four adopted grandchild, four adopted great-grandchildren; 17 adopted great-grandchildren; eight adopted step-great grandchildren; and two adopted great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Unez Richard, Lafayette, Bernice Boudreaux and LIly Mae Lantier, both of Rayne, Suzanne Champagne, Patterson, and Verna Mae Denais, Maurice; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Chiasson; her parents, Joseph Desormeaux and Alice Viator Desormeaux; two brothers, Francis and Antoine Desormeaux; and two sisters, Eunice Domingue and Una Chaisson.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Robles, Dr. Cardover, the staff, caregivers, hairdresssER “Diane Alleman” at Evangeline Oaks during her stay and time of illness. We also give special thanks to family and friends for thier prayers and support.

Patrick Chiasson
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2003, in the Duhon Funeral Home chapel, with Father William Ruskoski officiating, for Patrick Chiasson, 60, of Denham Springs, who died Friday, March 21, 2003, at 12:15 p.m. in Our Lady of the Lakes Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
A rosary was prayed Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in St. Thersa Cemetery
in Duson.
He is survived by his mother, Anna Mae Falcon, Duson; one brother, Myron Paul and Sharon Chiasson, McClenny, Fla.; five nieces, Judy Phillips, Hollywood, Fla., Jan Chiasson, Evangeline, Jackie Chiasson, Lafayette, Sherill Bongers, Jackson ville, Fla., and Sandy Newsum, England; one nephew, Myron Paul Chiasson, Jr., McClenny, Fla.; and special friends, Terry and Kathy Cobb, Walker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Roberts; father, Lloyd Chiasson; one brother, Donald Chiasson; maternal grandparents, Edward and Emelda Angelle Burch; and paternal grandparents, Louis and Emma Domingue Chiasson.
He attended both St. Joseph Catholic School and Rayne High during his school years.
Patrick served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He served one year of his service overseas. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. His rank was AMH3.
He was a native of Rayne and a resident of Baton Rouge for the past 20 or so years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and going out on his boat.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Columbus Pierre-Auguste, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003, in St. John Berchman Churchin Cankton, with Father Romero officiating, for Columbus Pierre-Auguste, Jr., 59, of Sunset, who died Friday, March 21, 2003, at his Sunset home.
A rosary will be prayed Saturday at 9 a.m. in the church.
The wake service will be held at St. John Berchman Church beginning at 7:30 a.m. until time of services.
He is survived by one sister, Eva Mae Pierre-Auguste, Sunset, and two brothers, Joseph Pierre-Auguste and James Pierre-Auguste, both of Sunset.
Mr. Pierre-Auguste wsa preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Pierre-Auguste, Sr. and the fomrer Louise Duplechain; two brothers, Peter and Prescott Pierre-Auguste; and one sister, Hazel Walker.

Erminee G. Plattsmier
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2003, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Erminee Guillotte Plattsmier, 81, who died at 10:13 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Survivors includes her husband, George Louis Plattsmier, of Rayne; three sons, George L. III and wife Theresa Plattsmier, of Plainville, Connecticut, Larry James Plattsmier, of Kinder, Michael Prescott and wife Nancy Plattsmier, of Carson City, Nevada; three daughters, Bonnie and husband Russ Faulkinberry, of Youngsville, Janet and husband Fred Richard, of Rayne, Cathy Ann Plattsmier, of Lafayette, Patti Jane and husband Danny Crowe, of Lafayette; one sister, Betty Pontiff, of Jeanerette; twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Phillip Plattsmier; parents, Press and Lucina Rogers Guillotte; and one brother, Dudley Guillotte.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Friday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.
Peter “Jr.” Haure
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2003, at a Mass of a Christan Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Peter “Jr.” Haure, 75, who died at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Entombment was in St. Joseph Cemetery
#2 Mausoleum.
Survivors include his wife, Clara C. Haure, of Rayne; four daughters, Ramona Bullock and husband Duane, of Rayne, Kaye Hillard and husband Tommy, of Crowley, Pam Dubose and husband Jim, of Crowley, and Ros Franklin, of Lafayette; one son, Evens Thibodeaux and wife Glyn, of Algiers; one brother, Curney Haure and wife Hilda, of Rayne; one sister, Camilla Vienne, of Rayne; one step-sister, Alberta Chamberlain, of Pensacola Florida; mother-in-law, Claudia Colligan, of Rayne; ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Haure and Mathilda Trahan Haure.
Mr. Haure was a member of the American Legion, and served as Chief of Police in Rayne.
Mr. Haure worked at the family business, Haure Machine Shop.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday in Gossen Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Kip Link, Zackery Rice, Jason Smith, Sidney Breaux, Trey Hillard and Dean Vienne.
Honorary pallbearer was Jude Cole.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.
John Hanks
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003, in St. Margaret Church in Estherwood, with Father Rusty Richard officiating, for John Hanks, 58, of Estherwood, who died at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in Lafayette General Medical Center.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the Estherwood Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie Hanks, Estherwood; one son, Bradley and Tracy Credeur Hanks, Egan; two daughters, Marie and Damon Regan, Egan, and Hilda Hanks, Estherwood; three brothers, Raphel Hanks, Port Arthur, Texas , LeRoy Hanks, Sulphur, and Lester Hanks, Midland; one sister, Eva Rose Hanks, Port Arthur, Texas ; and four grandchildren, Kirsti Regan, Jacob Regan, Bradley Hanks, Jr., and Lani Hanks.
Mr. Hanks was preceded in death by his son, Pierre Hanks; his parents, Valcin andMarie Anna Hanks; one brother, John Aaron Hanks; sister, Mary Jean Lejeune; and dad, Leon Hanks.
