Louisiana Rivette Prejean
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 203, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Church Point, with Father Nicki Trahan officiating, for Louisiana Rivette Prejean, 88, of Eunice, who died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in Lafayette General Medical Center.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the new Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Church Point.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs.Glenn “Nelda” Durbin, Eunice; two sons, Howard Prejean, Baton Rouge, and Lester and Nita Prejean, Leesville; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Ms. Prejean was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Prejean; and her parents, Adelus and Azelie Rivette.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Tommy Melancon
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in the funeral home chapel, with Father William Ruskoski officiating, for Tommy Melancon, 36, of Rayne, who died at 3 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2003, at his Rayne home.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 in Rayne.
He is survived by his father, Milton Joseph Melancon, Sr., Crowley; four brothers, Milton Joseph Melancon, Jr.,Brasile, and Darrell Melancon, Timmy Melancon and Teddy Melancon, all of Rayne; two sisters, Eleanor (Tiny) Melancon, Baham and Sharon Melancon Bertrand, both of Rayne; a half sister, Melody Melancon Miller, Rayne; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Willa Mae Lavergne Melancon.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Bertha Marie Guidry
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson for Bertha Marie Guidry, 75, who died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at her residence.
interment was in St. Theresa Cemetery.
The Rev. Martin Leonards, pastor of St. Theresa Church, was the celebrant of the funeral Mass and conducted the service.
Survivors include her husband, Dominic Guidry, of Duson; two sons, Roland Guidry, of Rayne, and Kenneth Guidry, of Judice, three daughters-in-law, Veronic Guidry, of Rayne, Katie Guidry, of Judice, and Yvette Guidry, of Youngsville; six grandchildren, Bart Guidry, Shelley Miller, Kasha Guidry, Brandon Billeaud, Haley Guidry, and Micheal Guidry; four great-grandchildren, Madelyn Miller, Ethan Guidry, Brianna Billeaud, and Corryne Billeaud; and one brother, Raymond Champagne, of Duson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elie Campagne and Edia Gary Champagne, and one son, Mitchell Guidry.
Mrs. Guidry was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, and Ladies Altar Society.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask to make donation to Hospice of Acadiana or M.D.A. for A.L.S..
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday in Gossen Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Roland Guidry, Kenneth Guidry, Bart Guidry, Brian Miller, Brandon Billeaud and Kevin Delhomme.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Murphy Joseph Nero
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2003, in St. Joseph Catholic Church here, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Murphy Joseph Nero, 81, of Rayne, who died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
He is survived by five sons, Helton Nero, Dean Nero, Russell Nero, and Carroll Nero, Sr., all of Rayne, and Ronald Nero, of Crowley; one sister, Sadie Istre of Rayne; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorena and Dehuse Joseph Nero; one son, Aaron Nero, Sr.; two brothers, Alton Nero and Cleveland Nero; and one sister. Erise Sonnier.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Grifford Adam Cormier
Funeral will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, March 13, 2003, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Maurice, at 2 p.m. for Grifford Adam Cormier, 66, who died Monday, March 10, 2003.
Rev. O. Joseph Breaux, pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, LA will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services.
interment will take place in St. Basil Cemetery.
Mr. Cormier, a native of Mire, was the son of the late Calice Cormier and the former Flavia Hebert. He had been employed with Lafayette Steel for the past 36 years as a mechanic.
Survivors include one daughter, Mona Cormier Richard of Lafayette; one son, Neil James Cormier and his wife Lisa of Youngsville; three sisters, Dorothy Cormier Trahan of Lafayette, Lula Mae C. Veronie of Maurice, and Ruby C. Venable of Scott; three brothers, Mattrice Cormier of Lafayette, Melvin Cormier of Duson, Donald Cormier of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren, Rickie, Brandie, Krystle and Justin Richard, Lindsey, Lauren, and Lana Cormier, and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel Rita Gautreaux Cormier; two sons, Huey John Cormier and Michael James Cormier; one brother, Firmin Cormier; and one sister Viola Cormier.
Pallbearers will include Mitchell Veronie, Weston Gautreaux, Earl Veronie, Rickie Richard, Larry Richard, E. J. Domingue, Jr. and Neil J. Cormier. Honorary pallbearers will include Kevin Gautreaux, Timothy Cormier, Justin Richard and Kenneth Veronie.
Visiting hours will be observed from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and continue from 8 a.m. to time of service on Thursday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 200 Chief H. Fred Avenue, Maurice, is in charge of all arrangements.

Wilfred Prejean
MORSE –– Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at 2 p.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, with Father Gil Dutel officiating, for Wilfred Prejean, 84, of Morse, who died Monday, March 10, 2003, at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Burial was in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Scott.
He is survived by one son, Raymond James Prejean, Houston, Texas ; and two brothers, Clopha Prejean, Breaux Bridge, and Joseph Prejean, Covington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calima and Louis Prejean; one brother, Louis Prejean; and three sisters, Lucille Webert, Ozitas Smally and Louise Credeur.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Yolande Guidry
Funeral services were held Friday March 7, 2003, at 2 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson for Yolande Guidry, 87, who died Thursday, March 6, at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Survivors include one son, Edward Pellerin of Duson; four daughters, Yvonne Saltzman, of Rayne, Elaine Comeaux, of Scott, Jeanette Domingue, of Scott, Betty Leger, of Scott; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clovis and Aline Dugas Guidry; one sister, Lula Mae G. Arceneaux; and one son-in-law, Berlin Daigle.
Burial was in the Church cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Juanita Ethel Johnston Needham Darcé
LAFAYETTE –– Funeral services were held at 11 a.m.Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Juanita Johnston Needham Darcé, 82, of Lafayette, who Passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Juanita was a native of Rayne, Louisiana . She was the daughter of the late James Hamilton Johnston and the late Ethel Lee Rimmer Johnston. She resided in Eunice, Patterson, and Lafayette, Louisiana .
Juanita owned and operated a floral and antique shop, a catering business and a beauty salon for most of her life. She was also a floral designer at Delhomme’s Florists for many years.
Juanita was a member of the Lafayette Chapter No. 46, Order of the Eastern Star. She volunteered her time to the Volunteers of Our Lady of Lourdes’ Pink Ladies in Lafayette, serving as its president of a number of years.
Juanita graduated from Rayne High School and attended junior college in Witchita Falls, Texas .
She is survived by her four children, James Hamilton Needham, Marvin Joseph Needham, Marvita N. Hudson, all of Lafayette, and Becky Lee Needham Hebert of Slidell, Louisiana . She is survived by nine grandchildren, Sean Anthony Needham, Erin Needham Belloni of Lafayette; Bridget Needham Guenthner of Atlanta, Ga.; Neil Thompson Needham, Natalie Reneé Needham of Lafayette; Megan Hudson of Lafayette, Blair Lane Hebert, Blain Vincent Hebert, and Blake Abel Hebert of Slidell. Also, one niece, Gerlie Marthel Higdon Duplechain Weinstein.
She is survived by five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Frank Belloni, Jacob Joseph Belloni, Rachel Simms Belloni, and Meredith Lee Belloni of Lafayette, and William Taylor Guenthner of Atlanta, Ga.
Juanita was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Vincent Needham, and her second husband, Victor Darcé of Patterson; her sister, Gertrude Johnston Higdon; and her brother, Rimmer Lee Johnston.
Pallbearers were William Martin Hudson, III, Carroll Abel Hebert, Willis A. Hebert, Bobby Darce, Nathaniel Frank Belloni, III, Sean Anthony Needham, and Neil Thompson Needham. Honorary pallbearer was Bill Guenthner.
Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette was in charge of funeral arrangements.
