MAMOU –– Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. on March 9, 2003, in St. Paul Baptist Church, with the Rev. Fanley Thomas officiating, for Inies “Dad” Thomas, 81, who died on March 6, 2003, at 1:30 a.m. in Savoy Medical Center in Mamou.
Burial was in St. Paul Cemetery.
He is survived by three sons, Fanley, Thomas, Stanley Thomas and Kines Thomas, all of Mamou; five daughters, Floradese LaDay, Dallas, Texas , Janice Marie Whitehurst, Universal City, Texas , Lou Anna Henderson, Plano, Texas , and Mary Ann Captain and Julia Nell Captain, both of Mamou; two sisters, Josephine Thomas and Ella Mae Brown, both of Mamou; 21 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Final arrangements were entrusted to Frank Brothers Funeral Home of Mamou.

Joseph Krahe
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2003, in St. Lawrence Church in Mowata, with Father George Heffner officiating, for Joseph Krahe, 87, of Crowley, who died at 7:05 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, at his home.
A rosary, officiated by the Knights of Columbus, was prayed Sunday night in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the St. Lawrence Mausoleum in Mowata.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Krahe, Crowley; one sister, Mrs. Bea Stagg, Jamestown, N.Y.; and three brothers, Richard Krahe, Tucson, Ariz., and Bernard and Mark Krahe, both of Erie, Penn.
Mr. Krahe was preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Beatrice Krahe; two brothers, Regis and Christian Henry Krahe, Jr.; and five sisters, Mercedes Heuchel, Claire Gressley, Rita Muse, Rose McCallister, and Katherine Krahe.
Mr. Krahe was a member of the Msgr. Joseph LeFleur Council Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 15 in Crowley, and a lifetime member of the DAV.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Irisa Myers
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in St. Margaret Church in Estherwood, with Father Rusty Richard officiating, for Irisa Myers, 79, of Crowley, who died at 3:23 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003, in the Crowley Guest Home South.
A rosary was recited Monday night in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Elridge and Mary Myers, Jr., and Hillard and Marla Myers, all of Estherwood, and Russell Myers, Iota; two daughters and their spouses, Shelia Myers, Crowley, and Shirley and Carl Daigle, Estherwood; 17 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Elridge Myers, Sr.; her parents, Olivia Breaux and Thomas Deshotel; and her siblings.
Pallbearers were her grandsons Patrick Daigle, Richard Myers, Kevin Myers, Sunny Myers, Brad Daigle, and Robert Touchet.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of arrangements.

John Sidney (Johnny) Stutes
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at 11 a.m. in Assumption Catholic Church in Mire, with Msgr. Russell Harrington officiating, for John Sidney (Johnny) Stutes, 63, of Rayne, who died Monday, March 3, 2003, at 1:40 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
A rosary was prayed Tuesday night in the funeral home chapel.
He died peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He is survived by four sons, Gerald Stutes, Houston, Texas , Donald Stutes, Gratist, Wisc., Ricky Stutes, and David Stutes, both of Lafayette; two daughters, Elizabeth (Liz) Stutes, Lafayette, and Judy Stutes Miller, Mire; one brother, Harry Lee Stutes, Rayne; three sisters, Mary Richard, Duson, and Mary Foster and Delta Meche, both of Lafayette; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Obin Stutes.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Alice Palmer
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel , with the Rev. Ronald Breaux and the Rev. Kevin Richard officiating, for Alice Palmer, 84, of Church Point, who died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in the Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point.
She is survived by one son, Lester Joseph and Faye Fontenot, Basile; four daughters and their husbands, Viola J. Courville, Lafayette, Jenaette Fontenot, Eunice, Betty Jean Fontenot Smith, Eunice, and Myrtis and John Duplechin, Lafayette; two brothers, Leonce Doucet and Wilson Doucet, both of Church Point; three sisters, Minnie Carrier, Church Point, Rita Davis, Westlake, and Laura Mathis, Shreveport; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Fonenot; a grandson, Rudy John Smith; one great-granddaughter, Erica Courville; her parents, Marie and Homer Doucet; four brothers, Willis, Herman, Milton, and Ray Doucet; and two sisters, Rena Menard and Mary Lou Doucet.
Special thanks to Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home for the loving care that they gave to our mother. Special thanks to all the family and friends who came to visit her.

Jason Jon Petitjean
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Jason Jon Petitjean, 34, who died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, in a helicopter accident.
interment was in Assumption Cemetery in Mire.
Survivors include wife, Christi Petitjean, of Mire; one son, Jason Blake Petitjean, of Mire; one daughter, Blaire McKenzie Petitjean, of Mire; mother, Mary Alice Petitjean, of Rayne; father, Donald J. Petitjean and wife Jane, of Mire; one brother, Jonathan Petitjean and wife Nalani, of Mire; birth mother, Karen Pickett; sisters, Katrina Pickett and Erika (Dani) Pickett; brother Gator Pickett; step-sisters and brother, Lynette Gotte, Darren Gotte and wife Kim, Vanessa Miller and husband Robert.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Stanley David Byron
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Lloyd Singley officiating, for Stanley David Byron, 62, of Newton, Texas , who died Monday, March 29, 2004, in the Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Texas .
He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Walker, Lafayette, and Melissa Tarabbas, Newton, Texas ; one son, Huey David Byron, Newton, Texas ; one brother, Huey David Byron, Newton, Texas ; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Hanks Byron; his parents, Alyida Toups and Willie Byron; one brother, Hadley Byron; and four sisters, Gelta Dugas, Willa Mae Hanks, Mary Jean Dugas, and Helen Hargrave.
He was a native of Crowley and a resident of Newton, Texas .

Hazel Belle Matte Leon
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 27, 2004, at a time pending Mass in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Hazel Belle Matte Leon, age 84, the former Hazel Belle Matte, who died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at 9:10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
interment was in Lafayette Memorial Park. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Crowley, officiated at the services.
Musical selections were provided by Justin Patin. The songs were How Great Thou Art, I Can Only Imagine, Amazing Grace and Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Ms. Leon was a native of Church Point, and a resident of the Acadiana area all of her life. She was a parishioner of St. Edmond’s Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Survivors include: one daughter, Janell Lifsey and her husband, Ronald, of Carencro; two step-sons, Harry Leon and his wife, Savanna and Raymond Leon and his wife, Elaine, all of Rayne; three step-daughters, Theresa Leger and her husband, Earl, Louella Richard and her husband, Donald and Patricia Gautreaux and her husband, Weston, all of Rayne; four grandchildren, Sherry Whittington, Angela Domingue, Jessica Landry, Jason Gautreaux; nine great grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren; one step-granddaughter, Sheela Trahan; two step-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Gaspard and Dean Belaire and her husband, Phillip, all of Rayne.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vories LeJeune; her second husband, Louis Leon, Jr.; one son, Wilbert LeJeune; her parents, Adolphe Matte and the former Armine Doucet, both natives of Church Point; two brothers, Vinest Matte and Wallace Matte and one sister, Laura Matte Miller.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Jason Gautreaux, Bret Landry, Richard Leger, Jared Trahan, Cliff Whittington and Jessie Patin.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 North University Avenue, Carencro was in charge of arrangements.

Clifton Minix
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Loucille Loore officiating, for Clifton Minix, 73, of Rayne, who died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at his home in Rayne.
Burial was in the Rayne Protestant Cemetery.
He is survived by one brother, Frank Minix, of Rayne; one sister, Louella Montgomery, Rayne; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Minix was preceded in death by his wife, Oralee Mouton; parents, Aristial Minix and Daisy James; three sisters, and three brothers.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Christopher Martin
LAFAYETT E- Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in LaChapelle de Martin & Castille for Christopher Martin, 88, who died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at his residence in Lafayette.
Entombment was in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
The Very Rev. Monsignor J. Douglas Courville, pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, was the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and conducted the funeral services.
Mr. Martin was a native of Rayne and a resident of Lafayette since 1969.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 30 years by Columbia Gulf Transmission Company.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 8901 and was also a member of the Rayne Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include two daughters, Melinda M. Young and her husband, Dennie, of Lafayette, and Christine M. Young and her husband, David, of Denham Springs; nine grandchildren, Bryan Hanks, Julie Inzerella, Damon Hanks, Renee Young, Phillip Young, Denise Young, Brandon Young, Jessica Clark and Marine Cpl. Shane Young; five great-grandchildren, Shayna Inserella, Brittany Hanks, Caleb Inzerella, Seth Marceaux and Megan Marceaux, and one brother, Nick Martin, of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ouida LeBlanc Martin; his parents, Ellie and Eliza Roberts Martin; one daughter, Mary Etta Martin Hanks; one brother, Ceasar Martin; and three sisters, Lucille Forestier, Isabelle Martin and Phidelis Martin.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Martin’s name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70503, or to the Bethany MHS Health Care Center, 406 St. Julien St., Lafayette, La. 70506.
Pallbearers were Bryan Hanks, Damon Hanks, Brandon Young, Cpl. Shane Young, Kirk Inzerella, Cato Clark and Chuck St. Romain.
Honorary pallbearers were Phillip Young, Carl Hanks, Dennie Young and David Young.
Arrangements were entrusted to Martin &Castille Funeral Home of Lafayette.
