Bernice Trahan Dugas
Duson - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa Catholic Church for Bernice Trahan Dugas, 83, who died in Bethany MHS Health Care Center in Lafayette.
interment will be in St. Theresa Cemetery in Duson.
Survivors include one son, Hilary P. Dugas, of Duson; three daughters, Stephaine L. Dugas, Bernita J. Dugas, Alberta T. Dugas, all of Duson; one sister, Mildred T. Leger, of Lake Charles; one grandson and his wife, Kori L. Dugas and Georgette, of Duson; one great granddaughter, Laura M. Dugas, of Duson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Dugas; parents, Hubert and Ella Guidry Trahan; one brother, John Hunter Trahan; and four sisters, Rena Trahan, Ida Lee Trahan, Carita Courville, Helen Butler.
Mrs. Dugas was a member of the St. Anne Society in Carencro. She worked many years in and around Duson where she sold Avon and worked as a clerk for the Post Office, and local grocery stores.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Pallbearer will be Stephen Breaux, Vernon Dugas, Kori Dugas, Ramin Pirouznia, Joshua-Lee Duhon, and Daniel Melancon. Two honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Dugas and James Domingue.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Linus J. Thibodeaux
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004, in Assumption Catholic Church in Mire, with Msgr. Russell Harrington officiating, for Linis Joseph Thibodeaux, 67, of Church Point, who dided at 12:25 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, in Lafayette General Medical Center.
Readers duirng the service were Karissa and Christine Thibodeaux. Gift bearers were Kaitlyn Thibodeaux, Lacy Newsome and Tara Yergeaux. Singer was Mrs. Valerie Andrus.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in Mire.
He is survived by his wife, Nell Thibodeaux, Mire; two sons and their wives, Michael and Paula Thibodeaux, Mire, and Shawn and Laura Thibodeaux, of Lafayette; two daughters, Janet and Fred Roetker, Judice, and Christine Thibodeaux, Lafayette; a half-sister, Janet Vincent; nine grandchildren, Tara Yergeaux, Brent Lavern, Lacy Newsme, Drake Roetker, Karissa Thibodeaux, Kaytlyn Thibodeaux, Evan Thibodeaux, Lloyd Clotiaux, and Lennon Clotiaux; and one great-grandchild, Layla Claire Hebert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sephrin Thibodeaux and Rena
Brasseaux. He was a retired insurance agent, manager and district manager.
Pallbearers were Steve Yergeaux, Brent Lavern, Philip Melancon, Drake Poether, Lloyd Clotiaux, and Irby Cormier.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Jessie Baker
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mr. Rodless Leleux officiating, for Jessie Baker, 72, of Crowley, who died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
A rosary was prayed at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the Old Crowley Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Baker, Crowley; two daughters, Philomena Dupuis, Baytown, Texas , and Christina Brown, Dayton, Texas ; one son, Philman Baker, Crowley; one step-daughter, Tina Thibodeaux, Eunice; two step-sons, Daniel Ewing, Crowley, and Hubert Thibodeuax, Duson; three brothers, Phillip Baker and Sidney Baker, both of Angleton, Texas , and E.J. Baker, Longview, Texas ; six grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Eva Emily Sloane; his parents, Philbear and Abrina Romero Baker; one sister; and two brothers, Oday and Willis Baker.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 405 in Branch.. He served in the National Guard as a cook for four years.

Barnett Stark
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Lloyd Singley officiating, for Barnett Stark, 91, of Crowley, who died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at 1 p.m. at his Crowley residence.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by one son and his wife, Collin and Julaine Stark of Crowley; three granddaughters, Karen S. Davino, Sugarland, Texas , Mona S. Tribe, Youngsville, and Kathy S. Foreman, Crowley; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Stark was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Robinson Stark; his parents, Leonard and Ella Labby Stark; one brother, Bobby Stark; and one sister, Icy S. Fontenot.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Claiborne Sovie
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2004, in the funeral home chapel, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Claiborne Sovie, 75, of Rayne, who died at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 9, 2004, in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
He is survived by four daughters and their husband, Patsy Sovie and Peggy and Harold Falcon, all of Rayne, Betty and Earl Hebert, Maurice, and Vicky and Shane Blasingame, Duson; two sons and their wives, Michael and Anna Sovie, Crowley, and Ricky and Tina Sovie, Opelousas; two brothers and their wives, J.B. and Bernadine Savoy, Crowley, and J.C. and Esther Savoie, Lawtell; one sister, Eula Savoy, Church Point; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yola Sovie; his parents, Clarice Miller and Philojeune Sovie; three brothers, J.P., Steve, and A.B. Savoie; and two sisters, Clarice Savoie and Emitilde Guidry.
He was a loving husband, father, peepaw, great-grandfahter, father-in-law, brother and friend.

Burton Guidry
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Fred Swenson officiating, for Burton Guidry, 72, of Church Point, who died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, in the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital.
A rosary was prayed Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel.
Burial was in Our Lady of the SacredHeart Church Cemetery.
Mr. Guidry is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Wanda and Gelln Rogers, Opelousas, Dena and Vince Souleau, Prosper, Texas , and Sonya and Jonathan Pomier, Opelousas; three sons and their spouses, Lanny and Meg Guidry, Dripping Spirngs, Texas , Lyle and Robynn Guidry, Orange, Texas , and Jody and Angie Guidry, Carencro; two brothers, Austin Guidry, Scott, and Herman Guidry, Church Point; four sisters, Mary Daigle, Violet Leger, and Terry Zerangue, all of Church Point, and Jeanette Daigle, Rayne; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Burton Guidry was preceded in death by his parents, Leuse and Aline Guidry; two grandsons, Jamie Rogers and Corey Burton Guidry; and one sister, Jolly Ann Guidry.

LeRoy Beard
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, in the Northside Assembly of God in Crowley, with the Rev. Lloyd Singley officiating, for LeRoy Beard, 82, of Crowley, who died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, in Lafayette General Medical Center.
Burial was in the Acadia Rest Haven Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by two daughters Linda L. Doud, Pontiac, Mich., and Deloris B. and Harlan Richard, Crowley; one son, Ricky and Jana Beard, Houston, Texas ; and nine grandchildren, Pam and Terry Jones, Makr and Ronda Richard, Clare and Scotty Barnett, Michael Joseph and Tomeka Doud, Jessica and Scotty, Chauncey G. Doud, Kerrie Faye Richard, Carrie and Ken Olinger, and Justin and Sheree Beard; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Beard was a member of the Northside Assembly of God Church and also a 32nd degree Mason. He belonged to American Legion Post 15. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace S. Beard; one son, Charles Beard; his parents, Augustine and Marie Bell Daigle Beard; and two brothers, Allen and David Beard.

Jean Romero
Funeral services were held at 12 noon Saturday, May 8, 2004, in Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crowley, with Father Donald Pousson officiating, for Jean Romero, 64, of Crowley, who died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center of Lafayette.
A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in Maxie Cemetery in Maxie.
She is survived by three daughters, Linday Villejoin and Joni Romero, both of Crowley, and Debbie Labbie, Rayne; three sons, Richard Dalton Romero, Jr., Luke Romero, and Brian Romero, all of Crowley; five sisters, Willie Blanchard, Mary Lee Broussard, Eula Mae Hebert, Murli Arceneaux, all of Crowley, and Marie Cryor, Vidor, Texas ; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Ms. Romeo was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dalton Romero, Sr.; her parents, Whitney and Olita Blanchard Arceneaux; and one brother, Claude Arceneaux.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Estella Meche Sonnier
Mire - Funeral services were held at 12 noon, Saturday, May 8, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Catholic Church for Estella Meche Sonnier, 82, who died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at 8:25 p.m. in Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.
interment was ic Assumption Cemetery in Mire.
Survivors include two daughters, Earline A. Landry and husband Kert, of Mire, Ethel Pierce and husband Harold, of Cankton; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Baltazar Alleman, Jr.; second husband, Forest Sonnier; and parents, Cyprien Meche and Lucille Boudreaux Meche.
A rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Friday.
-Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.
