Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Felix Seller officiating, for Lou Allen Istre, 60, of Many, who died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at 4:30 p.m. in the Willis Knighten Medical Center in Shreveport.
Burial was in the Indian Bayou United Methodist Cemetery in Indian Bayou.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Istre, Many; five sons, Wayne Istre and Jeremy Istre, both of Rayne, Jerry Shane, Wallisville, Texas , Thomas Shane, Winnie, Texas , and William Shane, Saratoga, Texas ; one daughter, Kim Istre, Many; one brohter, Josie Istre, Duson; one sister, Jorelda Trotter, California; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Mae and Nolan Istre, and one grandchild, Mathew Istre.
Pallbearers were Burl Istre, Quinton Istre, Nicholas Istre, Jerry Shane, Thomas Shane, and William Shane. Honorary pallbearer was Russell Koch.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Melba Blanchard
CROWLEY ––Funeral services were held at 121 a.m. Monday,Nov. 24, 2003, in St. Margaret Church in Estherwood, with Father Habetz officiating, for Melba Blanchard, 61, of Crowley, who died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, in Crowley’s AmericanLegion Hospital.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by three sons, Larry Blanchard, West Virginia, Clifford Blanchard, Crowley, and Troy Blanchard, Rogers, Ark.; one daughter, Brenda Blanchard, Crowley; one son-in-law, Steven Hebert,Crowley; 10 brothers; five sisters; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Blanchard; her parents, Romain and Marie Guidry; and one great-grandson, Devin Gaspard.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

John Richard
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in The Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Father James officiating, for John Richard, 66, of Crowley, who died at 1 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Crowley’s AmericanLegion Hospital.
A rosary was recited Monday,Nov. 24, 2003, at 5 p.m. in the chapel.
Burial was in Acadia Resthaven Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Richard, Crowley; two sisters, Norma Richard, Church Point, and Dorothy Smith, Rayne; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Theophi8le and Rose Richard and one brother.
Duhon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James Dale Duhon
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson, for James Dale Duhon, 43, who died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the Lafayette General Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Sonnier Duhon of Duson; two sons, Coy James Duhon, and Coby John Duhon, both of Duson; one daughter, Abby Dayle Duhon of Duson; his mother, Rose Kidder Duhon of Duson; and three sisters, Melanie Vincent of Lafayette, Amelia LeBlanc , and Camille Kidder both of Duson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence J. Duhon.
Pallbearers were Coy Duhon, Coby Duhon, Joey Sonnier, Jason Sonnier, Robert Kidder, and Doug LeBlanc e. Honorary Pallbearer was his daughter Abby Dayle Duhon.
A Rosary was recited Friday evening at 7 p.m.
Burial was in the St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Gertie Leger Babineaux
Mire - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Catholic Church in Mire for Gertie Leger Babineaux, 87, who died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.
Entombment will be in Assumption Mausoleum.
The Very Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington pastor of Assumption Catholic in Mire will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie B. Smith and husband Kenneth, of Breaux Bridge, Debra Louise Babineaux, of Jennings; four sons, Carroll Babineaux, of Mire, Patrick Babineaux and wife Flora Bell, of Mire, Daniel Babineaux and wife Dot, of Mire, Richard Babineaux, of Scappoose, Oregon; one sister, Theresa Richard, of Rayne; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Babineaux; one daughter, Norma Richard; parents, Alphin Leger and Alice Holloway Leger, one brother, Ernies “Nig” Leger; two sisters, Etta Ancelet, and Elmae Guilbeaux, and one great grandchild.
A rosay was recited at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The family requested that visiting hours will be observed from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. until service time Thursday.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Myrtle “Lut” Milstead
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, in Starlight Baptist Church here, with the Rev. Mack E. Crayton officiating, for Myrtle “Lut”Milstead, 89, of Rayne, who died at 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, in Rayne.
Burial was in the Rayne Protestant Cemetery.
Ms. Milstead was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Lincoln Coleman, Rayne; two daughters, Louise Dugas, Rayne, and Glenda Faye Holdman, Missouri City, Texas ; a brother, Dallas Wilson, Rayne; a sister, Fannie Beverly, Rayne; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Final arrangements were entrusted to Frank Brothers Funeral Home of Eunice.
Wallace Joseph Istre
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in St. John the Evangelist Church, with Father Thomas Habetz officiating, for Wallace Joseph Istre, 41, of Estherwood, who died Monday, Nov. 19, 2003, at 7:10 p.m. in American Legion Hospital of Crowley;
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Mermentau.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Istre of Estherwood; two daughters Nicole Istre and Shawntal Istre, both of Estherwoods; three sons, Nicholas Istre, Ryan Istre and Steven Istre, all of Estherwood; his father and mother, John and Rena Istre of Mermentau; one brother, John Istre, Jr. Mermentau; Anna Duclion of Mermentau.
Mr. Istre was preceded in death by his maternal grandmothers, Anita Comeaux and Bertha Istre; and his paternal grandfather, John

Roy Joseph Chiasson
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, with Father Mario Romero officiating, for Roy Joseph Chiasson, 39, of Sunset, who died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at 11:20 p.m. in Opelousas General Hospital.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
He is survived by his father, Francis Chiasson, Scott; a stepmother, Norma Chiasson, Scott; one brother, Clyde Chaisson and his wife, Darleen, Duson; two sisters, Lori Majcina and her husband, Bob, Broussard, and Alena Hebert and her husband, Tab, Houston, Texas ; one half brother, Kervin Domingue and his wife, Kristina, Breaux Bridge; two adopted brothers, Dewayne Chiasson Kaplan and Bryan Chiasson, of Rayne; two adopted sisters, Karen Richard and Rhonda Chiasson, both of Rayne; one stepsister, Cynthia Landry and her fiance, Jody Terro, Duson; maternal grandmother,Mrs. Andrus Girdy Arabie, Lafayette; step-grandparents, Raoue Hoffpauir and Girdy Menard, both of Scott; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Celia Arabie Domingue; grandfather, Andrus Arabie, Sr., and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.Odell Chiasson.
Pallbearers were Clyde Chiasson, Cory Dugas, Randall Chiasson, Kervin Domingue, Lee Chiasson and Mike Chiasson.

Dorothy Hoffpauir
CROWLEY ––Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Hardy Ulmet officiating and assisted by the Rev.A. Ray Faulk and the Rev. John Patterson, for Dorothy Hoffpauir, 68, of Estherwood, who died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, in the Lafayette General Medical Center.
Burial was in Ebenezer Methodist Cemetery in Ebenezer.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley Hoffpauir, Estherwood; one son, Russell Petry, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; two daughters, Patricka Ulmet, Estherwood, and Pamela Petry, Austin, Texas ; one brother, James Melvin Hoffpauir, Estherwood; four grandchildren, Hardy Justin Ulmet, Kara Ulmet LeBleu, Tamela Millin and Candace New; and three great-grandchildren.
Dorothy earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Northwestern State University in Oklahoma . She taught elementary grades in Acadia Parish for many years.
Dorothy would like to share her experience of seeing Jesus in 2001 during a major heart attack. You will be blessed by reading her testimony at www.angelfire.com/La3/isawjesus.
She will be greatly missed by forrmer students, family and friends. The family would like to thank her Crowley Dialysis Center “family” for 2 1/2 years of compassionate care.
