Jeanne Alleman Augustine
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson for Jeanne Alleman Augustine, 76, of Crowley, who died at 8:14 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in the Crowley Guest Home.
A rosary was recited Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the St. Theresa Cemetery
in Duson.
She is survived by a nephew and caretaker, Harold Royer and his wife Darlene of Crowley; two brothers, Phillip Alleman, Eunice, and O.J. Alleman of Cottonwood, Ariz.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Augustine, three sisters and two brothers.
Pallbearers included Harold Royer, Chris Royer, Rodney LaFleur, Dobie Royer, Sam Cormier, and Anthony Alleman.
Honorary pallbearers were O.J. Alleman and Phillip Alleman.

Ruby Wiegand
Ruby Madeline Wiegand, born on Oct. 19, 1914 in Uhland, Texas , died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at the Rayne Guest Home.
She was a native of Uhland, Texas , lived in San Marcos for forty ears, and moved to Louisiana in 1996.
Ms. Wiegand taught school in Uhland, Kyle and New Braunfels for 45 years. She earned her B.A., M.A., and 30+ from Southwest Teachers College, now Texas State. She was honored upon her retirement from Comal ISD with a week of celebration and a lovely reception. Many of her former principals, fellow teachers, former students and a host of family and friends were in attendance.
She was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Kyle, Texas , where she was involved in the music ministry. Ruby enjoyed china painting and needlework, which she generously shared with family and friends.
Survivors include her brother, JMoe Earl Wiegand and his wife Dorys of Jennings, La.; four nieces, Brenda Wiegand Williams and Daphhne Wiegand Anderson of Springfield, Mo., Melissa Weigand Hall of Denham Springs, and Claire Wiegand James of Mandelville; and two nephews, Gene Wiegand of Laramie, Wyo., and David Wiegand of Budd Lake, N.J.
Her memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Kyle, Texas . Burial preceded the service at 9:30 a.m. at Live Oak Cemetery
in Uhland, Texas .
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 4000 FM150, Kyle, Texas , 78640.

David E. Guidry
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, in the funeral home chapel, with Brother Paul Roney officiating, for David E. Guidry, 71, of Rayne, who died at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery
No. 2.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Guidry, Rayne; ex-wife, June Bishop, San Antonio, Texas ; ex-wife, Margaret Laird, Alexandria; four daughters, Mary Emma Torres, Phoenix, Ariz., Doris Ann Nowell, San Antonio, Texas , Janine Prejean, Rayne, and Angela Pierros, Crowley; four sons, Shawn Prejean, Lake Arthur, Shane Prejean, San Diego, Calif., Shannon Prejean, Gonzales, Rayne, and Shad Guidry, Rayne; and one sister, Tootie McCauley, Deer Isle, Maine.
Mr. Guidry was preceded in death by his parents, Ramy and Emma Guidry; two brothers, Harry Guidry and Renee Guidry; and one grandson, Don Carlos Torres.

Joseph “Snook” Soileau
DUSON ––Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson, with Father Gilbert Dutel officiating, for Joseph “Snook” Soileau, 70, of Duson, who died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the Rehab Hospital of Acadiana in Lafayette.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in St. Theresa’s Parish Life Center in Duson.
Burial was in the St. Theresa Church Cemetery
in Duson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Soileau, Duson; three sons, Alvin Soileau and his wife, Gladys, of Cankton, Calvin Soileau, of Duson, and Steven Soileau, and wife, Tina, Carencro; three daughters, Debbie Arceneaux and husband, Pat, of Scott, Tammy Soileau, Duson, and Angela Soileau, Lafayette; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Soileau was preceded in death by his parents Augustine and Clara Soileau; and one granddaughter, Mandy Soileau.

Mary Martha Thomas
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at St. Matthews Baptist Church for Ms. Mary Martha Williams Thomas, 60, who died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
interment was in the Rayne Protestant Cemetery; Pastor Cozy Gage conducted the services.
Survivors include four sons, Reginald (Kimberly)Phillips of Crowley, Leroy Phillips of Lafayette, Timothy (Deadra) Thomas and Jan-Michael Thomas, both of Crowley; two brothers, Samuel Thomas, Sr., and Henry Lee Thomas, both of Crowley; two sisters, Ethel T. Charles and rosetta T. Manuel, both of Rayne; and one aunt, Selestine Leblanc, of Rayne.
Ms. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents, James and Evelyn Thomas; one daughter, Paquintha Thomas; and three sisters, Orelia Broussard, Lillie Mae Thomas, and Addie Thomas.
Arrangements were entrusted to Kinchen Funeral Home of Lafayette.
Nita Leger
CROWLEY ––Funeral services were held at 2 p.m Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, in the Duhon Funeral Home, with Father Rusti Richard officiating, for Nita Leger, 88, of Crowley, who died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at 10:45 a.m. in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by one son, Wallen Leger, Crowley; one granddaughter, Shelly Arnaud, Crowley; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Jacobs, Yvette Petty, and Heather Price.; and seven great-grandchildren, J.W. Jacobs, Kamryn Petty, Ashley Petty, Jacie Petty, Ray Price, Taylor Price and Bailey Price.
Ms. Leger was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Leger; her parents, Russo and Victoria Simon Domingue; and siblings.
She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley.

Mercedes Mier
SCOTT ––Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at a 2:30 p.m. Mass in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Mire, for Mrs. Elton J. Mier, age 85, the former Mercedes Menard, who died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 at 7:05 p.m. in her residence in Scott.
interment was in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery
in Mire. The Very Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church officiated at the services.
Musical selections were provided by Patrick Menard The songs were Hail Mary, Gentle Woman, J’Irai La Voir Un Jour, You’ll Never Walk Alone, and Here I Am Lord.
Mrs. Mier was a native of Mire, and a resident of Scott, for over 30 years. She was employed at Jacobs Restaurant for over 24 years. Mrs. Mier was a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Elton J. Mier of Scott; one daughter, Dorothy (Dot) Terro of Indian Bayou; two grandchildren, Vicki Terro and his wife, Zona of Rayne, and Veronica Terro of Indian Bayou; four great grandchildren, Benji Terro, Eric Terro, Dustin Terro and Dylan Terro; two sisters, Eve Thibodeaux and Adeze Guilbeaux both natives of Scott and an adopted family, Carlos Divas family from Guatemas.
She was preceded in death by one son, Rayland Mier; one son-in-law, Darrel Terro; one brother, Mercy Menard; one sister, Alice LeBlanc ; and a great grandson, Johnathan Terro.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, Dr. Kenneth McCarron and Staff, special family friends, Stephanie Roy, Sylvia Touchet and family and neighbors.
Pallbearers were Vicki Terro, Benji Terro, Eric Terro, Dusty Terro, Dylan Terro and Doug Leger.

CROWLEY ––Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jack Bergan officiating, for Willie Mae Hanks, 73, of Vidor, Texas , who died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, in Herman Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas .
Burial was in Acadia Resthaven Cemetery
in Crowley.
She is survived by her husband, Wilson Hanks of Vidor, Texas ; three sons, Kenneth Hanks, Vidor, Texas , Johnnie Hanks, Florida, and Bill Hanks, Bridge City, Texas ; three daughters, Kathy Wagner, Bridge City, Texas , Sarah Hanks, Vidor, Texas , and Barbara Matson, Alaska; two brothers, Huey Byron and Stanley Byron, both of Newton, Texas ; 11 grandchldren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hanks was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Oledia Byron; three sisters, Gelta Dugas, Jean Dugas, and Helen Hargrave; and one brother, Hadley Byron.
She was a native of Crowley and resident of Vidor. She was a member of the Rose City Tabernacle in Rose City, Texas . She was also a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
