Leawood Terro
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Leawood Terro, 78, of Rayne, who died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at 8 p.m. in his home here.
A rosary was recited Sunday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Mausoleum here.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Terro, Rayne; three sons and their spouses, Curley and Sarah Terro, Toney Terro, and Mark and Alma Terro, all of Rayne; four daughters and their spouses, Carolyn and Albert Menard, Wanda and Wilson Bordes, and Sandra and Terry Comeaux, all of Rayne, and Melanie and Chris Theriot, Lafayette; two brothers, Elgin Terro, Scott, and Leroy Terro, Rayne; two sisters, Audrey Trahan, Bridge City, Texas , and Helen Alleman, Groves, Texas ; 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He served the City of Rayne diligently as a police officer until his retirement. After retirement, he joined the Auxiliary Police Force and served for another three to four years. He was a member of American Legion Post 77 in Rayne.
The Rayne Legion Post 77 and the VFW Post 6720 of Crowley provided full military honors.
He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Bordes and Francis Terro.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of arrangements.

Andrew Handy, Sr.
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, in Our Mother of Mercy Church here, with Father Francis Butler officiating, for Andrew Handy, Sr. 58, of Church Point, who died at 8:41 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, in University Medical Center in Lafayette.
A rosary was prayed Sunday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the old Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Marie Handy, Church Point; five daughters, Anna Marie Handy, Tracy Ann Handry, Sandra Theresa Handy, and Sherelle Handy, all of Church Point, and Penny Ann Handy, Houston, Texas ; one son, Andrew Handy, Jr., Church Point; three sisters, Lynn Charlot and Gloria Handy, both of Church Point, and Betty Williams, New Orleans; nine brothers, Jessie Handy, Houston, Texas , Peter Handy, J.R. Handy and Ronald Handy, all of Church Point, Paul Handy, Jr., Seattle, Wash., Donnie Handy, Broken Arrow, Okla., Michael Handy, Eunice, and Russel Handy, Lafayette; 19 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Handy was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Handy; a twin brother, Alton Handy; a brother, Albert Handy; and his loving parents, Elie and Virgie Handy.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Bertha G. Benoit
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Bertha G. Benoit, 81, of Rayne, who died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Entombment was in St. Joseph #2 Mausoleum.
The Rev. Thomas Habetz conducted the service.
Survivors include her loving husband of 61 yrs. Obrey Benoit Sr., of Rayne; one son, Obrey “Tobby” Benoit Jr. and his wife, Marie Gary Benoit, of Rayne; one grandson, Keith Benoit and his wife, Michelle Benoit, of Mire; one granddaughter, Donna Arsement, of Rayne; three great granddaughters, Krystina Domingue, Kelli and Katie Benoit, of Mire, one great-grandson, Gage Arsement, of Rayne; two brothers, Efford “Baday” Guidry, and Clifford Guidry, of Rayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Julie Simon; two brothers, Dennis and Curtis Guidry; two sisters, Ella Mae Benoit; and her twin sister, Mable Credeur.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday.
Arrangement were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Dora Marie Boudreaux
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Edmond Catholic Church for Dora Marie Boudreaux, 87, the former Dora LeBlanc , who died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at 4:20 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Entombment was in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church, was the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and conducted the services. Lectors were Shari Evans and Kim Pope. Lisa Stafford and Lonnie Pearson were giftbearers. “La Toussaint”, “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, “Amazing Grace”’ and”’Lover’s Waltz” were played by Steve Riley, Keith Ratliff and Christopher Stafford on the guitar and fiddle.
Survivors include one son, Howard Ratliff and his wife, Deanna, of Lafayette; one step-daughter, Denise Boudreaux Evans and her husband, Charles, of New Orleans; two step-sons, Dwight Boudreaux and his wife, Jane, of Lafayette and Dennis Paul Boudreaux, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Florida; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Babineaux of Rayne; and one brother, Austin LeBlanc , of Vinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Paul Boudreaux, Sr.; her parents, Jean Overton and Florence Terese Richard LeBlanc ; and two brothers, Wallace LeBlanc and Leroy LeBlanc .
A native of Rayne and a resident of Cade and Lafayette for most of her life, Mrs. Boudreaux loved to listen to her great grandchildren play Cajun music.
She was a member of the St. Edmond Catholic Community.
A rosary was prayed Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Boudreaux’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 312 Guilbeau Rd. Suite 6-C, Lafayette, LA 70506 or to Masses.
Pallbearers were Charles Evans, Bryan Evans, Keith Ratliff, Dwight Boudreaux, Dennis Paul Boudreaux, Jr., and Whitney Gautreaux. Honorary pallbearers were Nolan Fremin, Brett Evans, Christopher Stafford, Michael Stafford, Brennan Pope and and Dylan Pope.
Arrangements were entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette.

Earl Lee Castille
NEW IBERIA –– Funeral services will be conducted for Earl Lee Castille, 66, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mike Guidry officiating.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
A native of Sunset, he had been a resident of New Iberia.
Mr. Castille died at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Iberia Medical Center.
Mr. Castille was a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers from 1953 to 1956. He was the owner/operator of Earl Castille Paint & Body Shop in New Iberia. He was the manager of Little League Baseball for 15 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3425 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Mr. Castille was also employed by Evangeline Dairy in New Iberia from 1958 to 1971.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Annie Joyce Herpin Castille, New Iberia; five sons, Earl Rickey Castille and his wife, Rhoda, Oklahoma City, Okla., Robert Wayne Castille and his wife, Cindy, Jeanerette, Ronald Lee Castille and his wife, Gwen, Lafayette, Dale Francis Castille and his wife, Yolanda, Jackson ville, N.C., and Clint Michael Castille and his wife, Cathy, New Iberia; daughters, Martha Kay C. Prince and her husband, Danny, and Rita Ann C. Montet and her husband, Rickey of Broussard; ten grandchildren, Rory Castille, Crystal Castille, Jeremy Castille, Brandon Castille, Alaina Castille, Aubrey Castille, Ashley Castille, Brent Castille, Corey Montet and Neiley Castille; one step-grandchild, Michelle LaCour; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Castille, II, Rowan Castille and Riley Castille; one step-great-grandchild, Mallary Smith; two brothers, Calvin “Big Toe” Castille of Rayne, and John Abbie Castille of Lafayette; and four sisters, Lillburn Greenlee of Lake Charles, Lenelle Menard of Metairie, Sandra Collins of LaPlace, and Romayne Fruge’ of Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.B. and Lettie Quebodeaux Castille; a grandson, Nicholas Earl Castille; and a sister, Martha Lynn Castille.
Pallbearers will be Rory Castille, Jeremy Castille, Brandon Castille, Aubrey Castille, Brent Castille and Cory Montet.
The Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Chris Richard
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church , with Msgr. Fred Swenson officiating, for Mrs. Chris Richard, nee Tamara Lynn Dowden, 38, of Lafayette who died Thursday morning Oct. 17, 2002.
A rosary was recited Friday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Burial was in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Church Point.
A native of Church Point and a resident of Lafayette, she was employed by Thibodeaux’s Restaurant in Duson.
She is survived by her mother, Linda Briscoe of Church Point; maternal grandfather, James Harmon, Ornard, Calif.; her spouse, Chris Richard, Lafayette; two sons, Michael Vincent Ortiz, Los Angeles, Calif., and Blaze Kane Doweden, Church Point; stepsons, Chaise Joel Clay Richard and Samuel Richard of Scott; a daughter, Valerie Boudreaux, Church Point; a stepdaughter, Chrisonie Richard, Scott; three brothers, Jimmy Briscoe, Lamore, Calif., Johnny Tweedel, Lafayette, and Dwayne Johnson , Rayne; and a sister, Brandy Briscoe, Church Point.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Lisa Ann Dowden Wysinger.
Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Albert Handy, Jr.
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at 11 a.m. in Our Mother of Mercy Church here, with Father Francis Butler officiating, for Albert Handy, 80, who died at 2:35 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in the St. Landry-Acadia Gest Home here.
Burial was in the old OUr Mother of Mercy Cemetery.
He is survived by five sisters, Mable Handry, Geneva Duplechain, Angela Chachere, Alberta Wildridge, all of Church Point,and Elnora Holland, Bremerton, Wash.
Mr. Handy was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Elnora Handy, Sr., two brothers and two sisters.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Pauline Caillouet Simon
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Pauline Caillouet Simon, 85, who died on Sept. 28, 2002, at her residence in Rayne.
Survivors include two sons, Randal Simon, of Lafayette, and Michael Simon, of Baytown, Texas ; one sister, Leona Ardoin, of Abbeville; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Simon was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Simon; her parents, Norbert and Natalie Simnitere Caillouet; five sisters; and two brothers.
Burial was held in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Lillian Badon Mendoza
LAFAYETTE ––Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2003, in the Delhomme Moss Chapel for Lillian Badon Mendoza, 95, who died Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at her residence.
Rev. Mikel A. Polson, Associate Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, conducted the funeral services.
interment took place at Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Mendoza, the daughter of the late William Badon and the former Arthemise Pourciaux, was a native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of Lafayette.
Survivors include one daughter, Agnes Boulet of Rayne; grandchildren, Donald Quebodeaux and wife Brenda; Edgar “Jay” Quebodeaux and wife Diane; and Lonnie Boulet; great grandchildren, Cynthia Alleman and husband Randall, Paula Chilton and husband Gene, Sandy Racca and husband Davey; Katie Leckelt and husband Dwayne; Dawn Quebodeaux; and Daniel Boulet; great-great grandchildren, Dustan Quebodeaux, Blaid Alleman, Gaige Chilton, Keeli Chilton, Blaik Chilton, Holden Racca, and Gannon Quebodeaux.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Paul Boulet, second husband, Eddie Mendoza, Sr.; and special friend, Laurice Doguet; five brothers; and four sisters.
A Rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Don Quebodeaux, Jay Quebodeaux, Dusty Quebodeaux, Gaige Chilton, Ramon Sonnier, and Dereck Sonnier.
A special thanks to her neighbors and adopted family on Lena Street.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1314 Moss Street, was in charge of all funeral arrangements.
