Murphy Roy, Sr.
CROWLEY -– Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, with Father Gary Schexnyder officiating, for Murphy Roy, Sr., 68, of Crowley, who died at 7:05 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
He is survived by two sons, Marvin Roy, and Murphy Roy, Jr., both of Crowley; two daughters, Cheryl Guidry and Jodi and Joseph Laughlin, all of Crowley; one son-in-law, Mark Dupont, Crowley; one sister, Viola and Presley Rogers, Lafayette; one sister-in-law, Rose Roy, Broussard; a special friend, Georgia Hernandez, Iota; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Roy; one son, Robby Roy; one daughter, Faye Dupont; his parents, Alta and Lloydia Roy; and one brother, Lincoln Roy. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was also a retired offshore chef of 25 years.
Mr. Roy loved his music and ball games. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Wilbur C. Watkins
WELSH ––Wilbur C. Watkins, 92, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, in a Lake Charles hospital after a stroke on his way to a fishing trip.
He was a native of Welsh and longtime resident of Fenton. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Welsh. He was a avid hunter and fisherman. He was a recently retired rice farmer, and up until his death he was manager of Watkins Farms. He was a Flying Farmer and a Civil Air Patrol Pilot.
Survivors include his second wife, Yvonne Carter Watkins; two daughters, Frances Chauvin of Hammond and Jackie Fogelman of Crowley; two sons, Bobby Watkins of Welsh and Eddie Watkins of Lake Charles; one brohter, Elbert Watkings of Baytown, Texas ; 15 grandchildren including Nanette Guerin, Johnny, Tom, Steven and Tim Chauvin, and Suzanne Durham of Hammond, and Joyce Bankston of Mandeville; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 65 years, Audrey Jones Watkins; his parents, Samuel Marshall Watkins and Eva Robinson Watkins; and one brother, Orville Watkins.
His Funeral Mass was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, in the First United Methodist Church of Welsh. The Rev. Mark Goins officiated.
Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh.

Walter Joseph “Joe” Stein
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Walter Joseph “Joe” Stein, 82, who died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at his residence.
interment was in St. Joseph Mausoleum No. 2.
Father Bill Ruskoski officiated at the services.
He is survived by a stepson, Earl John Jr. and his wife, Jo Ann Richard; two sisters, Rose Mary Stein and Ursula Hobson, both of New Orleans; two granddaughters, Celeste Fruge and her husband, Shane, of Woodlands, Texas , and Aimee John, of Houston, Texas ; one great-granddaughter, Grace Ann Fruge of Woodlands, Texas ; and three sisters-in-law, Margie Miciotto, of Crowley, Jackie Huesers and her husband, Andrew, of Crowley, and Berry Miciotto, of Lafayette.
Mr. Stein was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grace Miciotto; his parents, Oscar and Annie Emnmett Stein, Sr.; one sister, Helen Bourgeois; and two brothers, O.C. Stein, Jr., and Emmett Stein.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Associaiton and Notre Dame High School in Crowley.
Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley was in charge of arrangements.

Paul Sidney Sonnier
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003 at a Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Sidney Sonnier, 89, who died Oct. 26, 2003 at his residence.
interment were held in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
Survivors include one uncle, Rodney J. Trahan, of Rayne; six nieces and nephews, Jimmy Sonnier, of Broussard, Patricia S. Edwards, of Lafayette, Joy Sonnier, of Lake Charles, Rendy S. Soileau, of Lake Charles, David Sonnier, of Judson, Texas ., Judy S. Brennan, of Louisville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha Trahan Sonnier and David Sonnier; two brothers, Whitney Sonnier, Fernand Sonnier, one niece, Shirley S. LeBlanc .
Mr. Sonnier was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 1897.
A rosary was recited Tuesday at 6 p.m. by the K of C and parish at 7 p.m..
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Charles Ray Wagner, Sr.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel at a Mass of Christian Burial for Charles Ray Wagner, Sr., 64, who died Oct. 26, 2003 at his residence.
interment was in Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery in Indian Bayou.
Survivors include his wife Nettie Trosclair Wagner, of Rayne; two sons, Charles “Chuck” Wagner, Jr., of Rayne, Patrick Wagner, of Ridge; one daughter, Donna Gaspard and husband Hilliard, Jr., of Richard; his mother Yola Guillory Wagner, of Rayne; one sister, Cindy Prejean and husband Gerald; four grandsons; one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, John Paul Wagner father, Willis Lee Wagner, Sr.; one brother, Willis Lee Wagner, Jr..
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday
Arrangments were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Lucille Guidry
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, in St. Joseph Catholic Church here, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Lucille Guidry, 85, of Rayne, who died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in the American Legion Hospital in Jennings.
Lectors at the service were Ruby O’Neal, Michelle Dugas and Jena Guidry. Gift bearers were Jackie Guidry, Roxanne Leon, Tracie Guidry, and Annette Credeur.
Music selections sung by Jean Normand included “Be Not Afraid,” “Hail Mary” in French, Issiah 49 and “Old Rugged Cross in both French and English.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2.
She is survived by nine daughters, Dean Thibodeaux and husband, James, of Rayne, Darlene Delhomme and husband Mason of Church Point, Faye Walston and husband, William, of Mt. Belview, Texas ; Jeannette Guidry, of Rayne, Lynn Credeur of Rayne, Debra Hebert, Rayne; Margie Cox, Houma, Patsy Norris, Eugene, Oregon, and Joyce Burke, Dickerson, Texas ; six sons, Charles and wife Brenda Lyons Guidry, Church Point, Gene and Bernadine Leger Guidry, Carencro, Richard and Mary Ann Higginbotham Guidry, Zachery, Roger and Andrea Andrus Guidry, Youngsville, and Johnny and Francis Lejeune, Crowley; 33 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Robert Logue, Lake Charles, William Logue, Sulphur, and Harold Logue, Dayton, Texas .
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Guidry; parents, Frank Logue and Edoie Benoit Logue; one brother, Paul Logue; one sister, Jean Abshire; one grandson, Christopher Guidry and one great-grandson, Brennan Guidry. Pallbearers were Patrick Thibodeaux, A.J. Delhomme, Chad Guidry, Jonathan Guidry, Roger Guidry and Shannon Roche.
Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Thibodeaux, Karl Thibodeaux, Matthew Guidry, Keith Walston, Gary Lee Hebert, and Shane Guidry.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Wilson J. Robin
Funeral services were held Tuesday Oct. 21, 2003, at 11 am at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson for Wilson J. Robin 92, who died Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Boudreaux Robin of Duson; two sons, Gerald and Wade Robin, both of Duson; one daughter, Mona DesJacques of Scott; three brothers, Bennett Robin of Duson, John Harry Robin of Lafayette, John Ray Robin of Carencro; six sisters, Florence Arceneaux, of Ossum, Biatue Broussard, of Duson, Hazel Trahan, of Lafayette, Bernice Patan, of Scott, Lorena Stutes of Lake Charles, and Clara Mae Domingue of Lafayette; six grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Mr. Robin was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Claudia Romero Robin; two brothers, Dudley and Claude Robin; two sisters Daisy Cormier, and Aline Martin; one great-granddaughter Maci Naylor.
Mr. Robin was a member of the St. Theresa Holy Name Society, also an usher at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Burial was in the St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Ernest (Bee) Venable
A memorial service will be held at a later date for Ernest (Bee)Venable, 73, of Abbeville, who died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, in Southwest Hospital in Lafayette.
He is survived by one son and his wife, Stephen and Lorena Venable, of Lafayette; one daughter and her husband, Karen and Blaine Dupont; three sisters, Roma Nell Veronice, Mire, Rita Romero, Crowley, and Bertha Doucet, Arnaudville; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Mr. Venable loved music and played for 18 years with several bands. He loved gardening and he had beautiful vegetables.
He was preceded in death by parents, Steven and Arminia Venable; stepfather, Cyprien Burleigh; and one sister, Ruby Hebert.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of arrangements.

Wade Glynn Faulk
EBERNEZER ––Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, in Ebernezer Nazarene Church, for Wade Glynn Faulk, 70, of Ebernezer, who died at 10:20 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at his residence there.
Burial was in the Ebernezer Methodist Cemetery in Ebernezer.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Faulk,, Ebernezer; one son, Russell Tab Faulk, Ebernezer; three daughters, Belinda Jane Duhon, Mermentau, Brenda Jean Guidry, and Candace Kelly, both of Ebernezer; one brother, A. Ray Faulk, Westlake; one sister, Annette Keen, Ebernezer; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and honorary grandchildren.
Mr. Faulk retired after 30 years with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Department at the rank of lieutenant.
Members of the Sheriff’s Department served as pallbearers and provided a 21-gun salute.
The Crowley VFWPost honored Mr. Faulk with taps and the folding of his flag.
Mr. Faulk was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Faulk; his parents, Leonard and Mabel Faulk; and three brothers, Boyd, Leonard Conrad, Jr., and Hoyt Faulk.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of arrangements.
